I love the English language. I adore how flexible it is, what a staggeringly large vocabulary we hav

I love the English language. I adore how flexible it is, what a staggeringly large vocabulary we have and how relatively easy it is to get right.

There are three things I detest about it though, and all of them are to do with language users rather than the tongue itself.

1. They’re, there and their. It isn’t hard – honestly it’s not. They’re refers to an abbreviation of they are, denoted by the apostrophe. There refers to a place, best remembered by noting the word here thinly veiled within its spelling. Their refers to people and is best recalled by the letter I – a personal pronoun – connecting the word with humans.

2. To, too and two. Again – easy. To, is the most commonly used of the three and as such is the quickest to write. Too, meaning also or as well etc. can be remembered by its additional o - there as well as the first o. Two is the version that isn’t one of the others and naturally, refers to the number.

These are the things you should know from when you learn to write – just because some things sounds the same when they’re pronounced, it doesn’t mean that they’re the same words. Bear and Bare sound the same, afterall, but you wouldn’t go confusing a gigantic, hairy creature with a penchant for pic-i-nic baskets with being naked, would you?

My biggest hatred of something in the English language, though, is as follows.

3. Might of. No. Just no.

There is no excuse for writing might of instead of might have, or the more commonly used might’ve. I wish people would just look at what they’re typing into their facebook status bars and think, “Actually, in this context ‘might of’ doesn’t make any sense.” If these morons would just ask themselves, “Whose might am I referring to here? The might of what?” I would be far happier. As it is though, I feel like I’m surrounded by idiots.

Please, for the sake of thousands of years of a beautiful language, use your brain.

If not for English, then for those of us who actually care about it not being butchered by complete morons.

Many Thai J-Rock fans blamed Thai artists that they copied Japanese songs. In fact, they should beli

Many Thai J-Rock fans blamed Thai artists that they copied Japanese songs. In fact, they should believe in ability of Thai people, or say just, coincident or Japanese artists copy Thai things. Although one case is true, that does not mean other million cases have to be just like the first one.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Listen To the Music, please scroll down to the end of the post.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

One of my friend that I met when I just had been a J-Rock fan, always told me that a Thai band called, Giwa copies his beloved Luna Sea. I was so young, and I did believe him. I believe many things flood around world wide web. Thai J-Rock fans keep post this kind of thing up. They matched short parts of some Japanese songs and Thai songs, and they said that Thai artist copies Japanese artists. Most of the parts they matched are less than 10 seconds, and it is very easy that musicians can think about the same thing. It is coincident rather that coping.

Thai people are not stupid, because they can own many copyrights they make by themselves. Thai people can work so well if a reward/award is waiting for them, such as world robot competition, or sport tournament. Naturally, Thai people do not like to step up without motivation. Thai musicians have a lot of motivation, especially pop-rock artists after 2000. Pop-Rock in Thailand have been popular again after 20-30 years. Between 2 eras, Thai people consumed much of sweet-pop songs. Many bands was founded in late 10 years, and many old bands did re-union. The boys want to be cool, especially for the sight of girls. They created a unique style of Thai Pop-Rock. Many songs may sound similar, because those kids grew up with pop songs. Some people are different, because they listen to other things, such as Thai country songs and other foreigners’ things.

I am the one who really like Thai country songs. If we do not count the style of voice and Thai instrument, many fast songs can be popular in Alternative-Rock/Pop world. Both sound very similar. Many Thai people also listen to Rock n’ Roll artist from the United States and Europe. They get the influence directly from the original rock bands, and they do not need to past J-Rock artist. Some Thai people also listen to J-Rock and do cover, but there is less percent.

Clash is another band that Thai J-Rock fans blames that they mimic “Forever Love” of X Japan in their song called, “Nangfa Naijai” (Angle in Mind). I do know both songs so well, and I cannot find that Clash really copies that songs. They are same type of music, but not the same song. Although Clash did cover of L’Arc~en~Ciel, it does not mean that they do not have brain to compose their own music. I am a Punk fan, and many Punk songs are similar. Let’s listen to sample of DecayDance things. They are similar and they are good!

Heath of X Japan, Rough Drawing by Sw Eden

Another important conflict is the song call, “Ter Mai Kir Tai” (You Have Never Died) of a Thai band called, Two (they have 2 members.). My parent keeps that albums, too. The famous guy named, Tong. He helped around many projects. Thai people know that he is really nice. Right now he is older, but he just looks the same. I do not know if this nice guy hears what some people are railing him. I pass around the websites, many Thai X Japan fans railed “Two”. Unbelievable, I saw a guy wrote, “Two-Kuy”. “Kuy” (ควย) is the rudest word in Thai Language. He blamed Thai artists who did not know what X Japan was about. The company always manages things for pop artists, and the only thing that the pop artists need to have is the great performance.

I did look through the track list of that album of “Two”, and style of X Japan songs. (It is 2 years, I was their fan, my early high school.) The melody is weird for Japanese songs, but the song composer is weird in “Two” albums. I could not say, but the news already said that. They said, Thai company has to pay for Yoshiki. I do not want to believe. It is just the late visits of Yoshiki in Thailand. So,… My early high school time, a senior guy who was a friend of “Yai” (Yai was known as a big fan of X Japan in our school.) told me about this conflict. “Two did release “Ter Mai Kir Tai” before X Japan release Say Anything”. If I can go back to that moment, I will never show the goat hand to him. I did,.., I did that hand. He ran behind me and tried to kill me. Where was my soul of Thai person? I had had it when I was a boy scout. I did respect King Rama VI. I love his firmly goal to make Thai people to love each other as one big family.

The news was unbelievable for many people. That song sound quite like Thai songs, and the lyrics can fit in so well. No matter what the reality is, but if there is no that song, many Thai people will never be fans of X Japan.

Tetsu69 of L’Arc~en~Ciel kills cat, Drawing by Sw Eden

There is another conflict of Neo Universe of L’Arc en Ciel, but that is a little thing. I think it is coincident, because it is just a small part of the song. Most of Thai L’Arc en Ciel fans are still young and rich, and they do not really care to talk about the past, because they look up the new stuff, and they talked a lot. I have many friends who like this band, that is why I can say. Like, once I met Kaun with her L’Arc book in a school bus, and we just began to talk although we had never known each other. We talked a lot. It is familiar in American people, but unusual for Thai people. (I am smiling.)

The main thing I would like to say is, Thai people always look down themselves. Many foreign songs were composed after Thai songs. Whenever they sounds the same, Thai people will say that Thai copied those foreigners.

There are other cases, such as Peace Maker’s songs and Josh Groban’s, and also the hair style and dress style of Thai teenager. Although the idea cannot be Copyrights, people keeps railing that style of dressing is wrong things. This may be only one attitude in a corner of Thailand, because most people do not care (me, too). They dress up and they want to be cool.

Let’s see the side of Thailand. What the songs that Thai artists composed before the foreigner and they sound the same! I am an audience and also an artist, and I will never say that they mimic each other. Many people can think about the same thing. The one part of melody or similar style cannot prove that that artist is the copier.

“There is no unique thing in the world. Everything you think that it is new, someone has done it before.”, Jiyoun Kim said.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Listen to these coincident couple now!!
The beginning of this song is similar with Cobra Starship – Pop Punk is so hi’ 05
This Paradox song is in album “Free Style” and was released before Pop Punk is so hi’05 about 2 years.

Both Paradox and Cobra Starship are Punk, so no confused that they can think about the same thing.

The beginning of both songs just sound the same, and I do not think that The All American Rejects will care about Zi:Kill. Alright, both are punk, .. again.

For the international world, Slipknot is more popular than Paradox, but in Thailand, Paradox is more popular. I do not think that both will prefer to listen to each other. Paradox also released this song before Slipknot, too.

First time A7X came into the music industrial, they were considered as a metal band, but now, they are considered as a punk band. Every Japanese fan of Zi:Kill know that Zi:Kill is punk. And very important for us to know that both Zi:Kill and Avenged Sevenfold have a super cool guitar solo. Zi:Kill may do not that great in Lonely, but all stuff in their Rocket album are so amazing! (Pick up the songs that Ken did the music)

Ui Kam may be older than We Are The World. I feel I heard of it since I was born. It is truly classic one, every Thai people know. It is beautiful and lonely. Jaran Manoped is also a great teacher of many Thai people. We all love him. He passed away in 2001. All his songs are forever songs.

Paradox is so great at their show. Almost all songs of Paradox sound more modern than Hide’s. Paradox tend to be Alternative Rock, which is really popular in Western world such the United States and the United Kingdom. Hide is more into underground alternative rock, which can be found in both LA and NY. Although Hide did a lot of underground style, those songs are not popular. Hide’s songs which are popular are something modern; such as In Motion, Tell Me, Lemoned I Scream, Ever Free, Post and Honey Blade.

Rong Rean Kong Nu is so classic, too. This song is very old, but still catching people’s hearts. If you know Thai language, you will cry since the first time you listen to it. It is strange that The Academy is… has the same stuff. The world is so coincident. I played Rong Rean Kong Nu on Harmonica, too. This song is about children who have a hard time to get to school. They lived on the mountain and their school is really faraway. They have to walk step by step. They love to go to school. This song reflect the city society that many children do not like the go to school, although they are so rich and very easy to go to school.

Joy came to me. I said, Now? But yes is joy’s only word. The wind says yes. The earth says yes. Even the distant sea says yes. Under the waves the many armed yes, which clutches everything says, Yes. Then two yeses meet when a shipwreck drowns. Here, on dry land or here, in the trees, the singing yeses desire flight. Joy lies on the ground. It is a seed. Now it unfolds on my tongue. I listen for the rain. Its pattering says, yes, yes, yes. And yes came to me, and I was ready for its word. When I was a boy, there were no end of noes. But now my body floods with yeses even to the noes.

it was one of those houses that had a story. it used to be two stories. but the last owner decided to downsize, they had a big family. one that had to eat breakfasts on rotations. one of the kids grew up to be an author-turned-recluse who now lives in the mountains of Montana. their daughter lizzie is getting her doctorate in humanitarian relief. she believes the world could be a better place. and their youngest son jake just had their 2nd child, unfortunately he has had to remarry because his first wife kirsty had died during childbirth. it was a tragedy that he still feels when no one else is looking. he carries around a handkerchief and claims he has a chronic nasal drip, but everyone he meets can see the scar on his heart, it is a lot bigger to those who don’t know him because for some reason, pain is easier to hide over time with close friends who have gotten used to. i think we hide a lot of things. like the house. there are stories you wouldn’t believe that happened there, but you would have to live in the house to find the stories. you can’t read a book about them. they wanted to chronicle all of the pain and redemption that happened there, but all of the past owners ended up boycotting the publisher who decided against the work being put to paper, they cited that it was because of some minute clause in their document about restoring history. everyone in town knew why it really happened…

we all have our stories that we would like to hide. that we would like to keep secret. that still keep the lights on all night. that still keep the creeky boards around. but these stories are important to let out. for our development. for the development of others. and to share and to promote intimacy and vulnerability. without these stories there is no connection. no truth exchanged.

Since Chapter 1, Hunter and I have mostly been trying to keep up on the housework. I’ve also managed to do a little more painting…

What a good man. I don't think I even asked him to do this...

Hey, at least I'm trying, right?

Hunter and I tried for another baby, and I haven’t been feeling very well at all…

It's definitely bittersweet (no, I don't mean the taste).

A couple days later, I get the tell-tale pregnancy bump. It’s small so far, but definitely there. The next couple of days are filled mostly with playing with Casana, seeing as how there are no other interactions to do with her.

A few days go by and my belly is getting huge, as you can see in this picture. I’m crossing my fingers that I don’t have twins or triplets. I barely wanted a second child, but I knew there had to be at least one spare to ensure that the legacy prospered. I’m getting super stir crazy now, so I walk over to the Shallows’ place to spend some time with Dallas. As soon as I get invited in, I leave Casana on the front step–I don’t want her to bother their family if she starts crying.

<dl's note: I actually *facepalm*ed at this. I have no idea why she put her down...>

I spot the fireplace, and, in need of a positive moodlet, I stand in front of it to warm myself. It’s lucky I do this because when I get home, I’m informed that Casana is aging up and I have to give birth tonight. Get ready for sleep deprivation and starvation galore! No one was really celebrating Casana’s birthday, and since I’m a fan of home births, no one was helping me give birth.

This is definitely one of the crazier nights of my life, but I’m thankful that Casana is too young to remember our lack of support.

It looks like Hunter is cheering, but he’s actually just talking to himself. Casana wasn’t sure what to think of this (click on the picture to enlarge it and you can see her face much better)…

What the heck have I been born into? “Don’t worry, Ana, we will take good care of you, just as long as you take good care of our legacy.” The final stages of Casana’s birthday are complete, but my home birth is just starting.

"Just go to your happy place, just go to your happy place..."

Finally–and I mean finally–I’m hit with a case of the sparkles, and out comes another baby girl, who we name Roselle.

We put Casana in her crib for the night, while I try to eat before I pass out from starvation or fatigue–or both.

What a cutie!

The next day, I am able to get a good look at Casana…

No clothing make overs yet, since we don't own a dresser. Plus, I think these are cute anyways.

I start teaching Casana how to talk, and her cuteness grows on me with every passing minute.

"See, Ana? This is what Daddy likes to do aaalll day."

Meanwhile, Roselle is turning out to be quite the handful. She rolled a grumpy trait, so her mood meter is hardly ever green and she needs constant attention. By the end of the day, I’m extremely frustrated, and it’s obvious that I’ve chosen my favorite of the two.

The next day, I’m in a little better mood. I am thinking about starting work again, which excites me. Once I start back, Hunter will quit his job and work on fishing to accomplish his LTW. On the bright side right now: I’m learning traits without doing anything!

“These books were written from 1998 to 2004 and are still in print today with over 11,000,000 sold in series. Unlike the adult series, Left Behind, they have no prequels or sequels, but are a set of 40 books focused on the Tribulation. The series was originally due to have 48 books but was cut to 40 as the huge 2 year jump in Ominous Choices cut out a lot of possible material. The Left Behind: The Kids series was originally written for teen and young adult readers. However, the audience has grown to include adults, too. Many adults read The Kids series between the release of new books in the Left Behind series. Most of the audience bought the books for the Judd and Vicki relationship storyline and many were outraged when Judd and Nada became a couple. However, the faithful readers continued and to their relief Judd and Vicki were back together, keeping the interest of the readers.”

The H1N1 Swine Flu virus knows no borders, has no boundaries, and has absolutely no respect for religious or cultural traditions.

This year at the annual Hajj to Mecca, Four foreign pilgrims have died of swine flu, the Saudi Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

The Saudi Arabia Health Ministry said none of the four foreign victims had been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus, as has been recommended by The Health Ministry.

An official statement released by the ministry said all had underlying health problems, including cancer and respiratory illness, AFP news agency reported.

Three of the victims died in Medina and one in Mecca.

http://www.arabnews.com/?page=1&section=0&article=128688&d=22&m=11&y=200Over

The BBC is reporting that….up to three million Muslims from around the world take part in the holy pilgrimage every year, but health officials have expressed fears that it could provide a breeding ground for the virus.

Authorities had tried to prepare for any outbreaks by installing thermal cameras at airports and sea terminals, deploying 15,000 additional health workers and ensuring hundreds of extra beds were available.

The Hajj (Arabic: حج‎ Ḥaǧǧ) is a pilgrimage to Mecca. It is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world,[1] and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a moral obligation that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to Allah (God).[2] The pilgrimage occurs from the 7th to 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hajj)

The Health Minister has reported that there are 16 other people that have been diagnosed with swine flu and four remain in hospital in “critical condition”.

He added 12 others had recovered following treatment.

The Saudi government has recommended the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and children skip the Hajj this year.

The Saudi government has said all pilgrims need a certificate of vaccination before they can apply for a visa.

This is real people, and this disease is spreading worldwide,at a rapid pace.

I encourage everyone to get a H1N1 swine flu shot as soon as you can.The reports of any side effects are exaggerated, and will cause millions of people to perish from the lack of the vaccine.

Any paranoia surrounding any alledged complications from the shot are totally unsubstantiated, and if those people out there insist on not receiving the vaccine, then we as a society should only expect more mounting mass casualties from the swine flu, as exhibited this weekend, unfortunately in Mecca.

If it can happen in Mecca, it can happen anywhere.

Please everyone, wash your hands, and go get the shot.

It’s been a busy two weeks. Two shows have been transmitted. So, what happened during these two shows? Well I’ll tell you.

FRIDAY 13/11/2009

Friday the 13th. The day associated with everything crashing around you. Strangely, for the Friday Night Lounge, that wasn’t the case.

The show went well. Although, I did notice that the mp3 CD problem wasn’t to do with the CD decks. It was the CDs themselves. The discs were brand spanking new, so I’m assuming it was something to do with the burning settings.

Anyway, inbetween playing music from the Kaiser Chiefs, Happy Mondays, Abba and Donna Lewis, we talked about: Didier Drogba’s generous donation towards an Ivory Coast hospital; a robber sending his own mugshot to the police; why 30,000 people in UK still watch television in black and white; and a proposed 93 page guide for police officers telling them how to ride a bicycle.

Of course, along with that, we had the usual Trivia’s Cocktail. This week it was about Formula One, the connection between the FISA-FOCA war of the 1980s and the FIA-FOTA row, was they both threatened breakaway championships.

Plus, That’s From this week was an easy one. Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey from, you’ve guessed it, Goldfinger – the third Bond film staring Sean Connery.

That was last week’s edition. What I didn’t know was that the next week would be a bumpy ride.

FRIDAY 20/11/2009

Waking up to only 5 hours of sleep; being soaked while waiting for a bus; stuck in a jammed supermarket car park; along with a bad week in general, I wasn’t wanting anything else to go wrong.

Arrived at the studio around at 6:45pm. Began to set everything up. After that, and a few phone calls to friends about other affairs to kill the time later, I was all ready to go. The great thing about being in the studio with an hour or so to showtime, is that you get to relax and ponder on things. When you’ve done everything you needed to that is.

And with Children In Need being on BBC 1, I was expecting a lower listener reach. I mean, who would rather listen to some nutter playing music and then chatting inbetween like a madman, when one of the biggest broadcasts on the British TV calendar is on? So, less pressure on me then. Providing it goes to plan.

9:03, Smooth Radio completes it’s hourly news bulletin. Fade out. Cue a Slow Radio West Fife jingle. Fade up the mic. “It’s Friday 20th of November. And this is the show you only listen to because the Television is broken…” I said, introducing the show before starting the theme tune. Then I did the standard procedure of outlining what was coming up on the show. Then fade out to Genie In A Bottle by Christina Aguilera.

What happened next was another example of me having a bad day. As Genie In A Bottle was about to fade out, I was about to fade up my microphone to begin discussing Children In Need. When I realised something…

On the mixing desk, at the very top, are two rows of buttons. The first row were PGM buttons. When on, whatever gets said or played, is transmitted to the listener’s headsets across the hospital. The second row were AUD buttons. These mean “audition” and when they are on, whatever gets said or played can be heard in the studio.

The PGM button on the presenter’s mic was off. It was off since I went on air.

So what the listeners heard, instead of me self-deprecating and introducing the programme, was: 30 seconds of silence and a theme tune faded up and down slightly at various points.

I normally leave it off before I go on air, so then anything unbroadcastable (like a private conversation with friends or swearing at faulty equipment) doesn’t get transmitted if I accidentally nudge the mic’s fader up.

I thought I pressed it. But in my blind panic, I obviously didn’t press the PGM button hard enough. A schoolboy error, frankly. So after Genie In A Bottle, and pressing the PGM button, I had to make the quickest introduction ever.

Apart from that, the first hour was uneventful. For once, the show was running bang on time. Unlike three to four minutes fast it usually is. Throughout the show we talked about how you can get your name translated into other languages, and find out what they mean. Along with, Crocodile Fossils and where to get a tuxedo for only £30.

Plus, this week’s That’s From returned to the adverts with Search For The Hero by M People, this appeared in the Peugeot 406 advert during the mid-1990s. And as for Trivia’s Cocktail, it was quite a fizzy one. With a single share in the company from 1919 worth $92,500 by 1997 and it’s name came from it’s medicinal ingredients. The link is of course Coca-Cola. Which reminds me, their Christmas adverts should be on soon.

It brought a bad week to a close. Thank god!

Well, hopefully I should also be starting voice-over work again. Schedule permitting. I may even put them up here for you to hear. We’ll see.
