So, simak aja deh.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835 (versi bahasa inggris)

http://www.kaskus.us/showpost.php?p=92489073&postcount=1485 (versi bahasa indonesia)

Tutorialnya bisa dilihat di postingan saya tentang All about Tytn II/Kaiser SPL and ROM.

Demam online lagi marak-maraknya.

Posisi kartu SimCard dibalik Qwerty keyboard

Ah!

One of the biggest drawbacks of using a Windows Mobile PDA-phone as your media device is that you en

One of the biggest drawbacks of using a Windows Mobile PDA-phone as your media device is that you end up with a tangle of wires that makes you look like you’re on life-support.

My HTC-manufactured phone (TyTN II) doesn’t have a 3.5″ headphone jack socket. The device was designed more as phone than media player so the audio connections are geared around being able to make and receive calls. So it comes with a phone-controller dongle which plugs into the phone via a mini-USB port. There is a 3.5″ jack socket but it is in the dongle, not the phone.

You can use the supplied earphones, which have a wire of the right length when used in combination with the dongle. Unfortunately the quality is dreadful. I wanted to use my Sennheiser in-ear headphones but the cable is much longer, because it is intended to plug straight into say an iPod.

The result is a mess. You have the phone in your pocket, with the dongle plugged in and clipped to your jacket or shirt. The cable is quite long and flaps about. You then have the further wire from the Sennheisers which plugs into the dongle, but which dangles and flaps around even more. The overall effect is hardly neat and the wires catch on everything.

When you get to wherever you’re going, you put the assembly of wires in your pocket. When you later come to fetch dongle and headphones out you find they are so tangled together it can take several minutes to tease them apart without damaging them.

My Sennheisers are now playing up. The left hand channel has lost volume; it plays at half the volume of the right. I know it’s not a case of sudden one-sided deafness because I tried switching the earphones round, and also plugged in the supplied headphones. The channel balance was fine, which also confirms that it wasn’t a problem with the phone or dongle.

The deterioration in the Sennheisers is probably the result of wear and tear on the wires due to the incessant plugging in, unpglugging, wires getting caught, wires getting tangled. I have been through a surprising number of earphones in the last few years. The attrition rate is huge and always due to the constant bending/unbending of wires, eventually causing a channel to fail. The Sennheisers have been more robust than most but I am getting fed up with the wires and fed up with the regular loss of channels due to wear and tear on the wires. I would far prefer to go wireless.

So, if the Sennheisers are on their way out, I may as well replace them with stereo bluetooth earphones. Thankfully the HTC supports the A2DP protocol so can stream good quality stereo over bluetooth. I like Sennheiser in-ear phones so a set of MM 200’s would seem to be a sensible bet. And no more tangles.

Well, I just installed Windows Vista Business x32 and tried to set up a sync partnership with my TyTn II (which is running WM 6.1 – official ROM from HTC).

Although the device is seen by Vista (i.e. Explorer), I couldn’t convince it set it to configure with Outlook 2007. After browsing few sites I have found that Microsoft released a new software for syncing required for desktop. You can download it from here (requires genuine validation). Then after installation was successfully detected by Windows and syncing worked as the software suggested.

Here’s a screenshot:

I will mention that before this update, I went to Start > Settings > Connections tab, opened USB-to-PC and unchecked ‘Enable advanced network functionality’ as seen suggested on some forums, device was rediscovered by Windows still didn’t synced with Outlook though.

Good luck!

I’ve had my TyTn II for about 7 months now and yesterday it just started playing up. I made no software or hardware changes or did anything unusual. It just wouldn’t go into standby, and when it did, it was a Standby Of Death (SOD). Also, when I slid the keyboard out, the screen wouldn’t flip to horizontal.

I’ve checked about a bit for Windows Mobile 6.1 update for this device (T-mobile Vario III) and it’s not released yet. Anyway, after many soft resets it seems to be playing nice again so I’ll post again if it redevelops.

Well, this one’s a keeper!

A couple of months after getting my TYTN II, it’s still gracing (rather than “bulging from”) my pocket. It’s not a huge step up from the TYTN – indeed, it’s not really worth upgrading, unless the few hundred quid you’ll spend is worth it for these bonuses:

Memory
That 128MB does make the difference! I’m having the strange kind of experience I used to have on my P910i, where I’d check my running tasks, and find some big app (like Opera Mini, or the web browser), happy sat in the background, and I hadn’t even realised. On the TYTN I, having more than 2 large apps would lead to out-of-memory problems, but the TYTN II now seems comfortable enough to let you get on with things, without micro-managing.

GPS
Again – is actually useful. Not that taking out a separate Bluetooth GPS and switching it on was that big a deal, but there was often the “Oh, it’s unpaired; Ah, there’s some COM port error; Eek, the battery’s flat”. With the TYTN II, you select GPS in the app, and it just works. “Nice!”

Keyboard works during calls
Yes, you read correctly! Or maybe you never even noticed.. But the TYTN I would only allow numeric characters to be typed on the keypad during calls – making it useless for writing notes while on a Bluetooth headset. All OK in the TYTN II.

Tilt-screen
I never thought I’d say it, but it is a small bonus: resting the phone on your desk/breakfast table, and tilting the screen up to read. I never thought it’d be useful, but it is. And it does allow 2-4 fingered typing; I’m not yet as fast as when using my thumbs blackberry-style, but it is an alternative.

Camera
Genuinely better than the TYTN – and I’m not talking about just having ‘Sharpness’ turned off in the camera settings. The picture is still a little sharp, with flat colours, but it is better than the TYTN. However, due to the terrible frame rate, with the blurry, jerky image on the pre-photo ‘viewfinder’ screen, it’s always a pleasant surprise to see that the photo isn’t as bad as the preview was. It also works surprisingly well in low light – I mean, really surprisingly not bad for something that is basically a pocket computer with a camera as an afterthought.

And on the downside? Simple:

Stylus
It’s on the wrong side! Really, it is… for a right-hander. Unless you’re one of the 10% that the TYTN II seems to have been designed for, you’ll have to fumble the stylus from one hand to the other, somehow. Two months later, and I’ve still not found it to be as easy as the TYTN I

Battery
As before… except now the case is sleek enough that I don’t want to bolt a 3000mAh brick onto the back of my phone. So it lives on the end of my laptop or a pocket USB charger whenever possible.

Camera
Those people talking about the slow drivers? They’ve got a point… the view you see on the viewfinder screen will be nothing like the photo that’s actually taken. (Fortunately, the photo itself is usually better!)

Staremo a vedere.

I don’t necessarily want to get political yet, because then the legions of the Dempublicentari

I don’t necessarily want to get political yet, because then the legions of the Dempublicentarian Party will come and cast spells at me with their best wizards and witches (I’m not saying anything bad about any candidates, but doesn’t Hillary’s famous cackle sound something like The Wicked Witch a la The Wizard of Oz? Maybe it’s just coincidence…At least, it seems that in the polls, she’s flying high, defying gravity)

But what I did want to talk about was another thing…buyer’s remorse. I guess in some ways, it’s a good thing to feel bad if we have made a poor purchase. However, in other ways, it’s probably a good thing to try to defend our purchases no matter what. So many people do it every day with the PS3 (and my Xbox360 fan friends say that owners of the Wii also do this in a sacred shrine, but who’s video taping that?) However, petty video game squabbles…they are petty.

What happens, though, when you buy something with prior conducted research, a clear plan and strategy, and all of those other good things? If you find fault with the product, should you speak out against it or the manufacturer or should you stay silent?

Enter numerous disgruntled HTC product owners who think that they have a right to create a big stink about the fact that HTC has “forgotten” to include the drivers for video card graphical acceleration in a number of their phones. The major issue is this: if you spend upwards of $700 to buy a phone unlocked (thankfully, our American cell phone providers, which in every other way are screwing us over [or perhaps you want to read this long one that goes into a lot more detail?] DO subsidize the costs of phones) and it is advertised as one of the most cutting-edge, capable phones around, then you should expect certain capabilities of it.

For example, if you have a camera with the phone, shouldn’t it be able to take pictures without having to wait 7 or 8 seconds to process? I dunno about you, but Kodak moments usually don’t pose and hold for hours and hours like they used to. Or, if you wanted to play some videos on youtube, like that slick iPhone dealie that Apple’s got (and which you might say influenced and pressured your decision to buy a device like the HTC Touch or HTC Kaiser–to compete with the iPhone), would you stand for unnecessarily slow performance if you didn’t tweak the videos heavily?

According to HTC, you shouldn’t care about pictures, and you should be able to take slowdowns. After all, in their words, not mine (with emphasis added):

HTC is committed to delivering a portfolio of devices that offer a wide variety of communication, connectivity and entertainment functionality. HTC does not offer dedicated or optimized multimedia devices and can confirm that its Qualcomm MSM7xxx-based devices do not use ATI’s Imageon video acceleration hardware.

HTC believes the overall value of its devices based on their combination of functionality and connectivity exceeds their ability to play or render high-resolution video. These devices do still provide a rich multimedia experience comparable to that of most smart phones and enable a variety of audio and video file formats.

HTC values its customers and the overall online community of mobile device enthusiasts and fans. HTC plans to include video acceleration hardware in future video-centric devices that will enable high-resolution video support.

So, essentially, according to this, it’s acceptable that these devices have limitations, because these aren’t “video-centric” devices. They are for business users, right?

Well..then…what might a business user want to do? Maybe he’d want to do GPS? Nope, graphical acceleration gets in the way there, so you can see that the updated model lags to a much older device. Or, what about when the device lags in doing the most basic tasks, like moving from portrait to landscape mode and back? I don’t know about you, but iPhones can do that quite well…

As HTCClassaction.org and other HTC devices users at xda-developers.org or elsewhere have noted, the problem is that the lack of these drivers affects the performance fundamentally. So, to me, I don’t know what to think when I read something like this in the AT&T forums for HTC-based devices:

I understand that everyone wants good drivers, and I am right there with them, but to completly knock the device because of it just boggles my mind. So what that a feature is not up to par with the rest of the phone? Because of one feature that is inferior to the others makes it a bad phone? The way I see it, is if you need to watch videos, go watch them on a HDTV… and if you are on the move, take a laptop or PSP. If all you bought the phone for was for just for watching videos or taking pictures, then you need to stick with a laptop or an actual digital camera. We need to remember that this is a phone with added features… not a video player or camera with an added feature of a phone.

The fact that this phone does wi-fi, internet, e-mail and several others makes it completly [sic] awesome but it seems to me that the attitude is ‘I have to have it ALL or would rather have nothing’.

The thing is that these problems are all encompassing, first of all. They extend into core functionalities of the product. If, by some chance, a user of an AT&T Tilt or MDA Vario III or Sprint Touch or ANY HTC device affected NEVER notices a decrease in functionality from using their device (because they are “only” using the device for text messaging and perhaps calling), I’d suggest a few things.

1) They are in a smaller minority than women in MIT Engineering classes (just kidding, I believe in the ability for people to defy gravity.)

2) They are being apathetic in an issue they should not be apathetic in.

This is the point, people. These guys put their money where their mouths were and bought this product…it doesn’t make sense to give up and lie like dogs!

OK, OK, so in a past life, I often ripped on a few iPhone owners at the lacks in their seeming OMG WTF BBQ awesome 1337 phone, but this is the thing: now it’s happening all over again with HTC devices. When I would say, “Ha ha, your phone doesn’t have MMS,” others would say, “Well…I don’t use it and don’t need it. Or, when I would say, “Ha ha, your phone lacks 3g and custom apps,” they would say, I don’t need those.

Apple got on the ball. They will come out soon with a 3g-enabled iPhone (they probably should have done 3g with the first one, BUT I’ll give them that)…and the SDK kit for 3rd party apps comes out very soon.

What about HTC? If they won’t act on their own, maybe we do need some publicity to push them in the right direction…that’s putting your money where your mouth is.

I difetti?
