Standard field lacrosse equipment required. Please note the following:

• Mouthguard & cup required for all players.
• No field lacrosse balls in the gym.
• No long poles.
• No cleats, soccer flats, or running shoes – wear non-marking tennis shoes.
• No food/drink in gym – use water fountains.
• Space is tight – leave your bag in the car if possible.

The East Orange Soccer Club will be holding their Premier tryouts starting May 26th  and ending May 30th. East Orange Soccer Club provides their own fields, coaches, officials, and administration. They train and coach all levels: recreational, competitive, and premier. The soccer programs and for children from ages four to eighteen. All players and coaches are residents of Central Florida, Orlando and/or the East Central Florida counties of Orange, Seminole and Osceola. East Orange Soccer Club is a non-profit organization.

For the Fall 2009/Spring 2010 season, registration will begin on May 26th. Players who are registered or who will register for the Premier league in the Fall are not required to re-register for the Spring. If you are new to the East Orange Soccer Club you must register using the oline system. Uniforms can be bought online as well. You MUST provide a copy of you or your child’s state issued birth certificate by fax mail or in person.

Practices will be determined by the individual coaches.

The following teams are currently in need of players. All teams have tryouts each season so if you or your child’s age group is not listed, do not be discouraged.

Huntsville Lacrosse is excited to announce its first local lacrosse camp for boys ages 8-18 (with 3 age/skill divisions).  Lightning Lax camp is an outstanding opportunity for players to learn, improve, and take their game to the next level with instruction from college coaches, assistant coaches and college players.

Thanks to our regulars who gave us an offseason weekly lax game!  Expect to see some new faces, and some dramatically improved players this season.  Our Spring ‘09 season is right around the corner, and registration will open soon.  Keep an eye on the website for Learn To Play clinics over the next month.

Online Spring ‘08 late registration extended to February 15th for Girls and U11.

U13, U15, & HS registration are now closed (full teams). Across Huntsville Lacrosse, we’ve already got a 65% jump in registrations over 2007, two months earlier than last year!

US Lacrosse membership is required for all players and referees and coaches. The membership fee is not included with registration for Huntsville Lacrosse Association, but you will need your US Lacrosse Member # as part of our registration.

Register online for your US Lacrosse membership at US Lacrosse. Finally, visit the Spring Season page to register with Huntsville Lacrosse, and learn about the season schedule, costs and requirements for signing up to play.

All Huntsville Lacrosse Association activities including practices will resume on Monday May 4th. Teams need to observe the local parks rules and closures based on the H1N1 Swine Flu threat.

Thankfully, no players or families of HLA players have showed symptoms of flu to the best of our knowledge.

The GBYLA is electing to procede with their Tournament. With the closure of schools, parks, and other public facilities, the Alabama High School Athletic Association halting all activities, and the middle school athletic events in Birmingham being postponed, it is the decision of the Huntsville Lacrosse Association that our teams are not going to participate.

We believe that while this is an extremely difficult decision, it is the smart and safe thing to do rather than regret going. This is a decision that does not come easily, or without protest and complaints. The frustration is felt by all. We wish that the GBYLA tournament could be moved, but it cannot.

We will announce the resumption of activity and practices through the emails to coaches and team moms.

Please communicate this to your players and their families as you feel appropriate:

In light of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) postponing all AHSAA sanctioned athletic activities beginning today, we wanted to make sure the GBYLA was informed about the current swine flu situation and that we did what was best for all our members. Here are a couple of points that came out in discussions with local school officials who have been interfacing directly with governmental and health leaders at both the local and state level:

- The decision to close the Madison county Schools was made by the Health Department.

- It is not clear why all AHSAA sports activities were postponed with the children continuing to attend school in the areas outside of Madison County.

- Our school districts are closely monitoring the overall situation and remain in contact with all decision makers.

Based upon what we know currently about this situation, the 2009 Alabama Lacrosse Championship games scheduled for this weekend at the Hoover High School Stadium will be played as scheduled.
It should be noted that the president of the Huntsville Lacrosse Association understands the potential implications for their teams coming to Birmingham to compete in the Championships. As such and in consideration of both the Madison County situation and our players, Huntsville has decided not to participate in the 2009 Lacrosse Championships.

We will continue to remain in close contact with our local school leadership.

Should the situation change, we will continue to put the concerns for our players first and take our direction from school officials with regard to any changes in our scheduled plans.

New to the game, or just interested in trying it out? Join us for one or both of the following FREE sessions:December 29th, ‘07 – 12:30pm in Madison @ Dublin Park on Old Madison Pike
January 5th, ‘08 – 12:00pm in Huntsville @ Brahan Springs Park

• we’ll bring all equipment needed for new players
• HLA players from last year bring all your equipment – you can help us out!
• we’ll break players into age groups (ages 6 and up) & demonstrate basic skills
• S&V Sports will have equipment available for sale
• we’ll bring example uniforms for sizing purposes for the upcoming Spring ‘08 season
• at the end of the clinic, some experienced players will demonstrate the game at full speed
• we’ll have tables set up to answer any questions you might have
