i just wanted to know the meanings of the complicated names of the Ubuntu releases, maybe it’s complicated for me, i’vee never heard such words before “intrepid , Jaunty , Ibex,….”

so i did some search to find them, and here are the meanings

first all the code names are composed of 2 words an adjective and an animal, both starting with the same character where releases are sorted alphabiticaly except the first two releases

Bueno, vuelvo escribiendo un poco mas acerca de la nada. En este caso voy a explicar paso a paso como podemos instalar un Joystick tipo Play Station 2 para poder arrancarlo con Xmame en Ubuntu Hardy Heron.

Francamente esto nace a raíz de que en internet, existe la información, más desafortunadamente a veces es un poco escaza, o en su defecto algo compleja; en mi caso me la he pasado buscando informacion sobre como añadir perifericos a mi portatil, y poderlos arrancar en Ubuntu que es mi distribucion. Aqui explicare con imagenes y paso por paso como poder intalarlo.

Primero:

En una terminal tecleamos:

~$ sudo apt-get install joystick

Ya instalado el paquete joystick, se creara una ruta en la carpeta “Dev/Input”, esto nos servira para indicarle a Xmame donde esta el joystick.

Procederemos a editar el archivo modules, para esto, tecleamos en una terminal

~$cd /etc

~$sudo gedit modules

Asi es como debe de quedar.

Ya en el archivo modules, añadimos en la ultima linea “Joydev”, esto es para que nos responda el Joystick.

Ahora solo es necesario reiniciar el ordenador para que nos detecte el joystick. En mi caso, mi portatil es una HP Pavilion dv2000; no me lo detecto a simple vista, al entrar al GFCE Ultra NES Emulator y tratar de configurarlo respondio perfectamente, asi como con el Zsnes, pero en Xmame no me funcionaba.

Así que hay que entrar al Xmame, y en sus opciones asignarle la ruta que se creo para que Xmame pueda reconocerlo. En mi caso se creo la ruta “dev/input/js0″; así que es la que estoy usando.

Seleccionamos Standar Joystick, asignamos la ruta, y seleccionamos palanca analógica, y damos aplicar cambios. En mi caso para mas fiablidad, entro en las propiedades de cada juego y me cercioro de que la ruta y las opciones sean las correctas, porque en ciertos juegos no me detecta al instante el mando, tengo que decirle a Xmame la ruta del control para que lo reconozca; ya solo es cuestion de entrar al juego y configurar el control, asi como cada boton y las flechas direccionales.

GNU Graphics Grub añade un atractivo visual a la pantalla de arranque [Grub].A diferencia del viejo grub,GFX Grub tiene mejores temas y opciones de personalización.

Para instalar GFX GrubBoot MenúG tenemos que eliminar el grub actual.[Esto no es cosa de juego!..Mucho Cuidado!!]
sudo apt-get remove grub
-> Antes de comenzar deberìamos hacer una copia de seguridad del menú de GRUB.Ir a la carpeta /boot/grub y copie su archivo menu.lst.

-> Descarga GFX Grub .deb

-> Descargar los temas adicionales

-> Descomprimir los archivos y moverlos a /boot/grub.(Recuerde que debe tener privilegios de root para este paso).
sudo su root
nautilus
-> Navegar via Nautilus (root) hasta /boot/grub y copiar allì todo el (los) message.xyz
-> Despues de agregados los temas,en un terminal:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
-> Agregar esta linea al principio del archivo Menu.lst
gfxmenu /boot/grub/message.xyz # xyz debería sustituirse por el nombre del tema que se va a utilizar.

-> Ya que hemos eliminado grub [antiguo] necesitamos establecer GFX Grub para que arranque a través de los OS sin ningún problema.
sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1
Recibirá una salida como (hd0,4),quizas diferentes otras en dependencia de sus particiones.

-> Despues
root (hdx,y)
setup (hdx)
quit
“x” representa el valor del (hdd) sector en el que usted ha instalado grub.

-> Lo ùltimo serìa instalar el Grub MBR.
sudo fdisk -l
tendremos una salida como la siguiente:

X representa el número del sector de el disco duro en el que ha instalado Grub!.

Playonlinux es similar a Cedega a diferencia de que playonlinux es de código abierto y libre.Playonlinux soporta casi 11 distribuciones de Linux.Aunque no hay paquete para Ubuntu Intrepid,las fuentes de Hardy parecen estar funcionando bien en Intrepid.
