I was looking through an old March issue of W Magazine with Kate Moss on the cover; I was flipping through the pages and looking at the ads of various luxury brands-Gucci, Valentino, Balley, Versace etc. Now, I already know the price tag that comes with such brands, and of course, they’re way out of budget for me. Whenever I look in high fashion magazines, I often fantasize about having the items that I like, and that’s what I was doing until I came across this beautiful woven, tan-colored platform leather sandal, with pretty flower and butterfly details. I looked at the name and it said UGG Collection, so I got excited, thinking to myself, “I could probably afford this, or at least make a small sacrifice if I have to!” UGG is kind of on the expensive side, but it’s not too farfetched, so I went online to check the name, UGG Cynthia. When I saw the price, I was completely taken aback.

For anyone who’s familiar with Wendy Williams’ old radio show, and that infamous train sound whenever something scandalous or tragic happened? Well that’s all I heard as I yelled “nine-hundred and fifty dollars!” People in the cubicles around me were staring; my heart was broken. I’m thinking, for $950, I could have a Gucci, Fendi, or even a Jimmy Choo, if it was that crucial! Then I just forfeited the idea altogether, or for a little while.

Today, on my way to work, I thought about treating myself, since I hadn’t purchased anything for myself in a long time. When you’re pretty much single, when you want something, you have to treat yourself. I thought to myself, “I know I can get those UGG sandals that I want.” Then reality set in; yes it is a pair of beautiful shoes that is multifunctional (can be worn with most things dressed up or down). They’re perfect for a date, for a nice Jazz or Soul concert, or can be worn with a cute pair of hot pants or a beautiful maxi dress. However, it would be just plain irresponsible to spend that much on a pair of UGGs? So I found a cheap alternative displayed right at the top just for our viewing pleasure that are perfect for any occasion. Update: The price of the UGG Cynthia has dropped from $950 to $767, but I’m still not buying it…LOL!

Let’s face it, while I post many pictures of high heels here, that’s not to say that I can necessarily wear them all (or uhh… even most) anymore. To be honest with you, I spend the majority of my days kicking around in none other than various Uggs.

Now, when your computer tries to autocorrect the brand name of your shoes from ‘Ugg’ to ‘Ugh’, there may be a problem.

Which is why I was thrilled, ecstatic, over-the-moon (yes, I am currently at a point in my life where such things make me jump for joy… judge as you may…) to discover the Lake Como Retreat Spring Collection for Ugg.

Combining the comfort of Ugg and the glamour (and designer prices – eek!) of Italy, for those with chronic pain this might just be the ticket!

Now if only insurance paid for them… xx

Ps – that shoe was definitely my favorite, but was of course the highest-heel of the lot. Go figure…
