Virgin Media is trialling a deep packet inspection system that will see 40% of the ISP’s network being monitored for file sharing activity. The network plans not to inform customers that they’re being monitored.

The system is called CView and is being provided by a subsidiary of BAE called Deltica, which specialises in large volume data collection and processing and usually works with intelligence agencies across the world. It’ll operate at the centre of Virgin’s network, and only attempt to determine the proportion of file sharing traffic that infringes copyright.

Customers are likely to be a little uncomfortable with Virgin Media handing over their emails and web browsing habits to a weapons manufacturer, but Virgin Media has emphasised that it just wants to measure the overall level of illegal file sharing, not keep records on individual customers.

BT’s controversial Phorm advertising system used the same kind of technology, and also didn’t inform or get consent from subscribers to the network. That proved to be a hot potato and was heavily criticized by privacy advocates and the internet community.

Virgin is preparing to launch a legitimate download service in partnership with Universal Music. ”Understanding how consumer behaviour is changing will be an important requirement of Virgin Media’s upcoming music offering and, should they become law, the Government’s legislative proposals will also require measurement of the level of copyright infringement on ISPs’ networks”, said Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media.

Timbaland ist mittlerweile aus der Hip Hop- und R’n’B-Szene nicht mehr wegzudenken. Nach drei bombastischen Solo-Alben meldet er sich nach zweijähriger Pause mit dem „Timbaland presents Shock Value 2“ (Release: 27.11.) zurück. Okay, das ist erstmals nichts wirklich Neues – Timbaland macht das was er am besten kann…feinste Musik – aber dass er jetzt anscheinend auch noch zu den Twilight-Infizierten gehört, hätte man wohl nie gedacht!

Bei den American Music Awards vor ein paar Tagen hat Timbaland seine neue Single „Morning after dark“ mit Nelly Furtado und Soshy präsentiert. Gerüchten zufolge sollen die zwei Twilight-Stars Robert Pattinson und Kristen Stewart im Musikvideo zu diesem Song zu sehen sein. Mal sehen – hier könnt ihr erst mal den neuen Tunes von Timbaland lauschen:

Für das „Shock Value 2“-Album hat sich Timbaland wieder tatkräftige Unterstützung geholt – Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, The Fray, Chris Daughtry, Chad Kroeger (Nickelback), Brandy, Drake und Keri Hilson – sollen die Feature-Gäste der neuen LP sein. So, I have something exciting to announce (and a first for this blog) – I have been approached by Island Records (owned by Universal Music) and asked if I would like to invite two of my blog readers down to a ’secret’ Erik Hassle gig in East London on December 17th 2009.

Regular readers may be aware that I have blogged about Erik previously, and that I am a fan of his music, and so this was not only a great surprise, but is a good way of putting my blog to some practical use I think (for me, you and the artist!), and allows me to give something back to those lovely people who visit my pages.

To be fair to all, I have decided to operate this as a small competition, as I think/hope that this could prove quite popular! I’ve been given complete freedom to choose how I want to select the people I guestlist (so please don’t be cynical people – and yes, the question is my own! ), I just figured this would be the best way.

YA A LA VENTA!!!!!!

En junio de este año Metallica fue muy afortunado en regresar a la Ciudad de México para tocar en tres conciertos totalmente agotados en el Foro Sol, conciertos que, con 155,000 fans presentes, la banda sabía que sería algo extra especial. Fue así que le pidieron a su amigo Wayne Isham que – junto con un equipo de filmación – se les uniera en las presentaciones y los resultados de este loco, mágico y muy memorable largo fin de semana estarán disponible en DVD y CD el próximo 30 de noviembre con el título ORGULLO, PASIÓN Y GLORIA: TRES NOCHES EN LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.

Los DVDs (de región libre) y CDs incluyen canciones de los tres conciertos grabados los días 4, 6 y 7 de junio. Cada concierto tuvo un setlist único, sumando 34 canciones diferentes… todas ellas en la presentación de dos DVDs, junto con entrevistas con la banda. Otras versiones que estarán disponibles incluyen un DVD con 18 tracks, BluRay también con 18 tracks, digipack con un DVD y dos CDs, y finalmente la versión de lujo mencionada con dos DVDs y dos CDs. Para estar en armonía con el tema local, todos los créditos estarán en español (en portugués para los fans brasileños) e inicialmente sólo estarán disponibles en las tiendas de América Latina. Posteriormente estará disponible en la tienda en línea de metallica.com, siendo esto planeado para la semana del 7 de diciembre.

Fünf Alben in 15 Jahren und der Erfolg der schottisch-irischen Band „Snow Patrol“ ist nicht mehr aufzuhalten. Leider sind die Poprocker in diesem Jahr nur noch in Großbritannien und Irland live unterwegs, aber sie werden im nächsten Jahr bestimmt auf große Europatour gehen und auch in Österreich wieder einmal vorbeischauen. Beim diesjährigen Donauinselfest haben sie die Menge zum Toben gebracht und so werden sie uns sicher bald wieder die Ehre erweisen!

Die junge R’n’B-Queen hat in den letzten Wochen für zahlreiche Schlagzeilen über ihr Privatleben gesorgt – genauer gesagt über die „Prügel-Attacke“ ihres (mittlerweile) Ex-Freundes Chris Brown. Jetzt will sie wieder mit ihrer Musik auffallen und uns ihren neuen, etwas düsteren, rockigeren Sound präsentieren. Ihr viertes Studioalbum „Rated R“ wird am 20.11. veröffentlicht und die aktuelle Single „Russian Roulette“ ist bereits überall zu hören. Rihanna entwickelte ihren Sound wieder weiter und wurde bei der neuen CD tatkräftig von Stars wie z.B. von Slash (Ex-Guns’n'Roses-Mitglied) und Will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) unterstützt!

Vor kurzem wurde Rihanna zur “Woman of the Year” gewählt und ist zurzeit auf Promo-Tour. Am 11.11. besuchte sie Stefan Raab in seiner Late-Night-Show „TV Total“, wo er sie als „geile Sau“ betitelte. Stefan sang Rihanna das Lied „Joanna“ und ersetzte den Namen kurzerhand durch Rihanna. Die hübsche Sängerin aus Barbados lachte und sah verdammt heiß aus – es scheint ihr nach diesem schweren Schicksal wieder besser zu gehen.  Sicherlich hilft ihr die Musik sich abzulenken und das Ganze zu vergessen. Der neue Song „Russian Roulette“ (den übrigens Ne-Yo geschrieben hat) überzeugt auf jeden Fall durch einen feinen Beat und einer starken, aber dennoch zerbrechlichen Rihanna.

Rihanna ist bekannt für ihre ständigen Style-Wechsel und so hat sie sich nun auch pünktlich zur Veröffentlichung ihrer neuen CD optisch wieder verändert. Wilde Haarfrisur, rockige Klamotten, usw. präsentierte sie auch beim Foto-Shoot für das unglaublich sexy Album-Booklet. Ein „Behind-the-Scenes“-Video zeigt Rihanna bei diesen heißen Shootings:

Die zweite Single aus dem „Rated R“-Album wird wohl der Song „Wait Your Turn“ sein und das Musikvideo dazu kann man jetzt unter anderem schon auf ihrer Homepage bewundern. Die Spannung auf den neuen Longplayer steigt, bei mir jedenfalls und die Erwartungen an Rihanna sind sehr hoch, denn was sie bei ihren letzten drei Album geliefert hat, war schon sensationell!

P.S.: „Rated R“ erscheint übrigens zuerst in Europa und dann erst in den USA!…UND…Rihanna wird beim “Popstars 2009 – Du & Ich”-Finale am 10.12. live auftreten!

Metallica planea regresar a México en marzo para ofrecer una serie de conciertos en el DF, Monterrey y Guadalajara, en el marco de su gira por América Latina.

În ciuda faptului că vânzările de CD-uri au scăzut enorm, încasările din muzică rămân la un nivel ridicat. Industria muzicală reprezintă, la nivel mondial, un bussines de 40 de miliarde de dolari (cam 160% din suma pe care România doreste să o împrumute de la FMI pentru a-si rezolva problemele generate de criza economică). Urmează o întrebare justificată: “De unde? Când producătorii se plâng de vânzări scăzute, când un artist care vinde 150.000 de unităţi este “lovit” cu discuri de platină, deşi în urmă cu câţiva ani, un disc de platină reprezenta distincţia pentru vânzarea a câteva milioane de unitaţi… “ . Simplu ! Drepturi de autor.
Atunci când procuraţi un album original al unui artist, veţi vedea pe coperta respectivului album o propoziţie de genul “© Copyright Universal Music 2002. All rights reserved. “ sau românescul “Copyright MediaPro Music 2009. Toate drepturile rezervate.” (exemplele sunt luate, pur şi simplu, la întâmplare). Aceste texte inserate pe coperţile de album ne atenţionează că avem un produs aflat sub incidenţa legilor de copyright. Astfel, noi nu avem voie să distribuim melodiile de pe respectivul album, să le difuzăm în anumite locuri, să multiplicăm albumul, etc. , fără acordul casei de discuri. Asta înseamnă alţi bani pentru casele de discuri. Mulţi dintre voi se află probabil într-o nebuloasă…
Practic, un restaurant care pune anumite melodii pe fundalul atmosferei din interior/exterior plăteşte nişte bani pentru muzica pe care o difuzează. Radiourile plătesc sume de bani pentru muzica din playlistul lor, televiziunile la fel , şi chiar canale NEW MEDIA importante plătesc pentru fiecare difuzare a unui content aflat sub copyright, o anumită sumă de bani (Youtube, Veoh, etc.). Se plătesc bani buni dacă vrei să foloseşti, ca artist, o parte dintr-o melodie, linia sau versuri sau dacă vrei sa faci un cover. Nu are rost să lungesc lista, pur si simplu ce înseamnă difuzare publică a unei melodii, se plăteşte (asta daca vrei să respecţi legea J ) . Banii aceştia sunt colectaţi de către instituţii specializate, care îşi opresc un anumit comision şi care apoi împart banii către casele de discuri (împarţirea se face dupa numărul de difuzări). UCMR, instituţia care momentan colectează banii din difuzări la noi, a avut anul trecut încasări de 28 de milioane de euro. Sună bine, nu?
Contractele pe drepturi de autor sunt foarte consistente. Multe procente, multe clauze, multe subpuncte, termeni, negocieri dure. E vorba de foarte mulţi bani! Extrem de mulţi bani! Casele de discuri se plâng de scăderea vânzărilor de unităţi, însă nu aduc in discuţie mai deloc încasările din publishing. Să fim serioşi! Mai toate barurile, restaurantele, pub-urile difuzează muzică. Radiourile nu ar mai exista fară muzică. Reclamele necesită fond muzical. Filmele au coloane sonore. Pe Tv se aud melodii. Şi ce e cel mai important, casele de discuri încasează bani şi pe melodii din prezent, dar şi pe melodii de acum 20 de ani, pe care le au în catalog.
Un autor de carte, când încheie un contract cu o editură, cedează drepturile doar pentru o anumită perioadă, urmând ca după perioada stipulată în contract, autorul să îşi primească drepturile de autor înapoi. Casa de discuri rămâne mereu în posesia drepturilor de autor.
In ultimul timp, am văzut cum toţi reprezentanţii caselor de discuri condamnă faptul că pe Internet se distribuie multă muzică, fără acordul lor, iar pierderile pe care aceştia le înregistrează sunt adevarate găuri. Ei condamnă servicii precum Napster, Gnutella sau Freenet, pentru că vânzările de unităţi se află într-o continuă scădere. Citim o mulţime de articole cum pirateria a atins cote alarmante, cu cifre multe, cu pierderi mari ale caselor de discuri ce nu îşi mai pot acoperi cheltuielile, cum lumea nu mai are respect pentru munca artiştilor.
Peste un miliard de download-uri au fost inregistrate anul trecut (numai în muzică), iar încasările din muzică sunt tot mari (cum ar spune americanii: “sales are up”). Oare nu aceste download-uri crează cerere? Ar mai exista această diversitate pe plan muzical din prezent, dacă nu ar exista Internetul şi resursele lui?
Servicii precum iTunes sau Rhapsody reprezintă soluţia de download “legal”. Descărcările de piese/albume/content video se fac contracost, astfel casele de discuri primesc banii pe care îi cer, iar aceste servicii încasează un comision. Care este câştigul caselor de discuri? In primul rand, încasează bani din vânzarea materialelor unor artişti în care investesc foarte putin, dar care au fanii lor sau au o promovare puternică pe Internet. Casele de discuri nu semnează doar cu artiştii care invadează playlisturile radio-urilor de main-stream sau care se aud în toate cluburile, pentru că au nevoie de varietate. Astfel, într-un calatog al unei case de discuri vor exista si artisti care nu aduc a sex-symboluri, se feresc de scandaluri, iar muzica pe care o abordează are la bază nişte cunostinţe bine puse la punct. Iar aceşti artişti au publicul lor. Slava Domnului ca nu toată lumea ascultă Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cent, Basshunter.
Internetul ne oferă o alternativă de a asculta si altceva decat piesele din heavy-rotation de la radiouri si posturi Tv de specialitate (care de cele mai multe ori sunt prea comerciale ori de prost gust). De multe ori rămân surprinsă când mă uit pe paginile serviciilor de download contracost şi vad cum artiştii din topurile radiourilor sunt devansaţi ca număr de descărcări, de artişti necunoscuţi publicului larg, dar care fac muzică din plăcere şi păstrează o legătură strânsă cu fanii lor.
Deci, casele de discuri au numai de caştigat prin această diversitate, pentru că realizează profit prin nişte artişti în care investesc sume minime. Automat după ce un astfel de artist vinde mult pe un site de download contracost, câstigă notorietate, iar melodiile lui vor fi difuzate pe diverse canale, rezultând bani din drepturi de autor.
Până la urmă, casele de discuri se tem că au pierdut controlul asupra distribuţiei. Apar producţii independente, care au succes. Astăzi, foarte multi artişti ce s-au lansat cu ajutorul Myspace-ului, Youtube-ului, Facebook-ului şi chiar a serviciilor gen Napster au o mulţime de fani, apariţii, concerte, sunt difuzaţi. Asta înseamnă bani pierduţi pentru ele!
In concluzie, cine sunt piraţii? Cei care pun la dispozitia utilizatorilor diferite materiale sau cei care intră în posesia unor drepturi pe nedrept, câştigând o mulţime de bani de-a lungul anilor? Cei care lansează artişti de care nu ar fi auzit nimeni, cei care crează cerere sau cei care îşi recuperează banii pe care îi investesc în artişti prin diverse clauze contractuale? Este de vină Napsterul pentru sărăcia în care ajung să trăiască anumiţi artişti după o vârstă? Sau contractele stupide care le sunt vârâte pe gât şi prin care îsi cedează drepturile asupra propriilor creaţii?

LOS PIRATAS: El grupo vigués nace a principios de los noventa y sacará a lo largo de su carrera 5 discos editados y varios directos y recopilatorios. En sus doce años de andadura siempre han trabajado con la discográfica Warner Music Spain. En cuanto a su música están claramente influenciados por el pop-rock ochentero con mezclas psicodélicas y se puede apreciar que en sus canciones cuidan hasta el más mínimo detalle. En febrero de 2004 anuncian la disolución del grupo, somos muchos a día de hoy los que esperamos una gira recordando todos esos temas insuperables.

M-CLAN: Una de las bandas pop-rock más consilidadas de nuestro país. Naturales de Murcia, la banda se crea en 1992 y saca su primer álbum de estudio en 1995 al que le seguirían cinco más, un recopilatorio y un directo. El grupo ha recibido grandes críticas desde sus comienzos y llegan a compartir cartel en escenarios con Bon Jovi. En la gira de “Sin enchufe” se crean fuertes roces entre los músicos y Santi Campillo (guitarrista y una de las piezas fundamentales del grupo) abandona la banda, lo que no fue determinante para que el grupo siga triunfando con Carlos Raya como sustituto del guitarrista citado anteriormente.

AMARAL: El grupo zaragozano está formado por Eva Amaral y Juan Aguirre. Se crea a mediados de los noventa y desde entonces han editado cinco álbum de estudio. Alcanzan el auge de su carrera con su tercer trabajo, “Estrella de mar”, con el que consiguen vender la friolera de 2.000.000 de copias y un gran número de premios musicales. Además de sus discos, también cuentan con dos DVD de sus conciertos en el mercado. Es uno de los grupos que más éxitos cosecha en la actualidad.

GUARANÁ: Es un grupo de Alicante que cuenta con cinco trabajos a sus espaldas. Nace a finales de los noventa y tienen canciones tan reconocidas como “La casa de Inés”, “Noche en vela” o “La furgoneta del amor”. El timbre de voz tan característico de Juanra y la naturalidad con la que David toca la guitarra son la esencia de este grupo alicantino. En la actualidad están componiendo para su siguiente disco a la vez que ofrecen algún que otro concierto de su último trabajo, “De lao a lao”, por la geografía española.

PEREZA: Este grupo madrileño tiene ya cinco discos editados y un recopilatorio en el que colaboran artistas de la talla de Bumbury o Ariel Rot. Lo componen Rubén y Leiva y nace en el año 1999. Empiezan tocando versiones por diferentes locales de Madrid y es en el año 2001 cuando lanzan su primer disco. En el mercado cuentan con un DVD de concierto en directo por cada disco que tienen. Su último trabajo, con un toque mucho más acústico que los anteriores, fue publicado este mismo año y está siendo todo un éxito. Cuenta además con la colaboración de Calamaro y Ariel Rot en las canciones “Amelie” y “Señor kioskero” respectivamente.

DELUXE: Deluxe es Xoel, un coruñés que en mayo de 2001 publica su primer álbum con un single de presentación, “I´ll see you in London”, del que pronto se recogen buenas criticas en los medios. Este primer disco y el siguiente que editaría en 2003 son íntegramente en inglés. En marzo de 2004 nos sorprende por fin con un single en castellano, “Que no”, colándose en lo más alto de las listas de ventas. Llegarían más tarde otros de sus éxitos como “Tendremos que esperar” o “Historia Universal (el amor no es lo que piensas)”. El 1 de noviembre de 2008 ofrece su último concierto como “Deluxe” y el cantante anuncia que se irá a América por tiempo indefinido para cambiar de aires y tocar con gente de alli.

VEGA: La carrera de esta cordobesa comienza en el año 2002 cuando entra en el concurso “Operación Triunfo”. Con su primer disco, “India” con “Grita” como single de presentación, consigue los dos premios “Eñe” más importantes, a mejor álbum y a mejor canción, además llega a ser disco de platino (más de 110.000 copias vendidas). Detrás vendrían “Circular” y una reedición de este con dos temas nuevos, “Y llueve” y “Clave de Sol”. En 2009 sale a la venta su cuarto álbum, “Metamorfosis”, con el que rompe todos los esquemas, un disco optimista, con toques de “swing” y un “Mejor mañana” que se convierte en una de las canciones del verano. Actualmente se encuentra promocionando el segundo single “Cuanta decepción”.

LA CAJA DE PANDORA: Este grupo de Barcelona salta a la fama en el año 2001 con la publicación de su álbum “A nuestra vida otro sentío” y su single “No me preguntes niña donde voy” siendo uno de los grupos más reconocidos del momento. Dos años más tarde se edita “Vencidos por el tiempo”, es entonces cuando las cosas se empiezan a torcer para el grupo, la discográfica por la que habían fichado, “Tempo Music”, quiebra por lo que ni el grupo ni el disco tienen promoción. En el 2006, ya con “Vale Music”, editan “Acuérdate bien de mi cara”, álbum que lógicamente funciona mejor que el anterior pero no tan bien como el primero. En 2008 sacan su último disco hasta el momento, “No perder el norte”.

Die US-Pop-Rock-Band „OneRepublic“ wurde schon vor fünf Jahre gegründet und es dauerte nicht lange bis sie international durchstarten konnte. Mit dem Mega-Hit „Apologize“ (produziert von Timbaland) stürmte die 5-köpfige Band die Charts und veröffentlichte letzte Woche nun das langersehnte zweite Studioalbum „Waking Up“!

Die angesagte Rockband aus Colorado konnte mit ihrem Debütalbum “Dreaming Out Loud” überzeugen, wurde  im letzten Jahr als die Newcomer Band schlecht hin gefeiert und ihre MySpace-Seite wurde millionenfach angeklickt. Für diesen unbeschreiblichen Erfolg ist vor allem Frontmann Ryan Tedder verantwortlich. Er gehört im Moment zu den gefragtesten Songwritern. Sein Talent sensible, exzellente Songs zu komponieren stellte er bei diesen aus seiner Feder stammenden Hits unter Beweis:
- “Bleeding Love” und “Happy” für Leona Lewis
- “Halo” für Beyoncé
- “Already Gone” für Kelly Clarkson
- “Please Don’t Stop The Rain” für James Morrison

Seit dem 13.11. ist nun die zweite CD von “OneRepublic” mit dem Titel “Waking Up” endlich veröffentlicht worden. Die erste Single aus diesem Album heißt “Secrets”. Der Song wurde von Til Schweiger für den Soundtrack seines neuen Films „Zweiohrküken“(Kinostart: 17.12.2009) ausgewählt, denn Til gehört zu den “OneRepublic”-Fans der ersten Stunde und äußert sich zu der neuen Single folgendermaßen: “Ich liebe dieses Lied! Ob “OneRepublic” im nächsten Jahr wieder auf Tour geht ist noch nicht bekannt, aber wenn wer von euch einen Wochenendtrip nach England oder Irland plant, kann die Rockband noch in diesem Jahr live erleben. Ich bin auf jeden Fall schon ganz gespannt, welche Hits “OneRepublic” in Zukunft  noch liefern wird und ob sie es wieder schaffen, wochenlang die Charts zu besetzen – wie gefällt euch diese einzigartige US-Band eigentlich?

In 1974, Rolling Stone music journalist Jon Landau boosted a then little known musician’s career by declaring, “I have seen the future of rock and roll, and its name is Bruce Springsteen”. Fast forward to 2009 and the future of rock and roll isn’t a person. It’s not even a band. It’s an online music service called Spotify. It isn’t just a game changer for the music industry. It’s a first glimpse of the future of all home entertainment.

Spotify is a music streaming service without the need to buy songs to listen to them. It’s basically Apple’s iTunes, except it’s free. 4 million songs are available and it’s legal since major music labels - Universal Music, Sony BMG, EMI Music, Warner Music – are shareholders. Spotify is an attempt to beat music piracy and it seems to be working.

There is a catch. Australia doesn’t have access to Spotify’s delights yet. The UK, France, Spain, Finland, Norway and Sweden are the current lucky countries. The USA and China will soon have access. However, it’s easy to bypass this tricky geographical problem.

I’ve been using Spotify and it‘s terribly addictive. Remember when you used to make mix tapes for friends, lovers and friends you desperately hoped would be your lover? Spotify allows you to build music playlists and share them with friends/lovers/others who can marvel at your impeccable taste in music. Playlist links can be sent via Twitter and/or Facebook. You can even allow friends to add or delete songs on shared playlists. Recently, Apple approved an application allowing Spotify music to stream directly to iPhones.

The future is now. Some luddites will cling to vinyl records. Some may even persist with CDs. But the majority will listen to music this way once it goes mass market. To be commercially viable, it’s likely all users will eventually have to subscribe. Reliability, convenience and legality means most won’t begrudge paying the approximate $20 monthly subscription Spotify’s premium service costs. I’d certainly subscribe if it was available in Australia.

We won’t own music but will be able to listen to anything any time we want. Movies will be next. And, if Rupert Murdoch and rivals are able to build a similar single point user friendly ‘pick and mix’ delivery system offering a compilation of their individual content, people may be willing to pay for online news. Unfortunately News Corp’s own foray into a similar music system – MySpace Music – is frustratingly clunky so you have to wonder whether they could build a seamless and intuitive integrated online news service that people would be willing to pay for.

However, if the notoriously antagonistic music labels can work together to sell their collective wares surely media companies can see sense in a little collaboration? Better to get a little money from most readers than no money from all.

Ihre erste Platte hatte Shirley Bassey schon im Jahr 1956 veröffentlicht und holte sich für das neue Album Unterstützung vom Produzenten David Arnold – ein alter Bekannter der Diva, da er unter anderem für die musikalische Untermalung zahlreicher James Bond-Filme zuständig war. Zeitlose Songs wie „Goldfinger“ haben Shirley Bassey zur Musiklegende gemacht und auch nach 50 Jahren im Musik-Business denkt sie noch lange nicht aufs Aufhören. Elf Tracks sind auf der neuen CD zu finden – Gary Barlow („Take That“), Ricky Wilson („Kaiser Chiefs“), David Tennant („Pet Shop Boys“), u.v.m. agierten als Songwriter und so weisen einige Songs enormes Hitpotenzial auf.

Die von der Queen in den Adelstand erhobene Entertainerin erster Klasse, Shirley Bassey, hat 20 lange Jahre auf sich warten lassen, aber jetzt ist sie wieder da – stimmgewaltiger, glamouröser und eleganter denn je!

The All-American Rejects headed down to Malaysia on October 31st and launched officially DigiMusic, Malaysia’s first unlimited music download service offering by the telco DigiCom.

Held at Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Jalil National Outdoor Stadium, the launch concert was preceded by an autograph session and a press conference, where they endorsed DigiMusic on behalf of Universal Music.

Launched unofficially in August this year, DigiMusic promises its subscribers unlimited downloads of its music catalogue offering with no data charges. The offering was backed by two of the world’s largest labels, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group. DigiMusic subscribers will get a host of goodies which include something the telco calls “DigiMusic Live Concerts”, where subscribers will get first consideration when it comes to tickets.

Lange war es nicht klar wann uns Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent) wieder mit ein paar neuen musikalischen Ergüssen beglücken würde. Das Releasedate des vierten Studioalbums wurde einige Male verschoben, aber jetzt ist es endlich fix – am 13.11. erscheint sein neuer Longplayer „Before I Self Destruct“ und die Spannung steigt – wird er mit dieser CD wieder begeistern können?

Eigentlich kann man 50 Cent mittlerweile einen Geschäftsmann nennen. Er vermarktet unter dem Label  G-Unit (wie auch seine Hip Hop-Posse heißt)  Klamotten, Schuhe, usw.. Weiters war  Curtis Jackson in Shows wie „The Money and the Power“ zu sehen und versuchte sich als Schauspieler („Get Rich or Die Tryin‘“, „Home oft he Brave“ & „Righteous Kill“). Rap bleibt für 50 Cent aber immer noch die „Number One“ und nach zwei Jahren Pause meldet er sich wieder mit einem Album zurück. Unter den Featuregästen auf der neuen Scheibe sind  Megastars wie Eminem, Nate Dogg und Dr.Dre zu finden. „Baby by me“ ist die erste Single und wird gleichzeitig mit dem Longplayer veröffentlicht. Als MP3 ist der Song jedoch jetzt schon bei Amazon erhältlich.

50 Cent wäre aber eben nicht 50 Cent , wenn er nicht wiedermal mehrere Eisen im Feuer hätte. In einem “Rollingstone”-Interview verriet er folgendes über seinen neuen, übrigens nicht autobiografischen, Film, der sich um die Schwierigkeiten des „urban life“ dreht: “When movies portray certain lifestyles they don’t show cause and effect, but I showed characters under pressure in scenarios where they felt like there were no other options, even though there were. There are always options. People just usually start to see them while being incarcerated — for not seeing them in the first place.” Ob dieser Film bei uns in die Kinos kommen wird, ist eher zu bezweifeln, aber er wird auf jeden Fall auf DVD erscheinen und nachdem der Film den gleichen Titel wie die neue CD trägt, kann diese auch als Movie-Soundtrack gesehen werden. Einer der erfolgreichsten Rapper aller Zeiten will sich also wieder selbst übertreffen – mal sehen ob es klappt – was meint ihr?
