I think it is around Thanksgiving time in the States now, am I right? Sweden doesn’t celebrate Thank

I think it is around Thanksgiving time in the States now, am I right?

Sweden doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

Is it because we don’t have anything to be thankful for? Of course we do.

Is it because we can’t remember what to be thankful for? Probably.

Sweden is said to be the most secular country in the world. To quote an online Biblical Ministry Organisation:

Sweden relinquished its claim of Lutheranism as its State religion in 2000 and now boasts one of the lowest percentage rates of belief in God in the western world.

Sweden can safely lay claim to being one of Europe’s “least Christian” nations.

A poll from 2006 conducted by Dagens Industri revealed Swedes have far more trust in major Swedish businesses, public television, Swedish universities, and the central bank than in the Swedish Church. As the older generation of Swedes passes away, the percentage of reproducing believers decreases.

Only five percent of the population regularly attends church.

Years ago, I had a relationship with an Italian guy. He was a practising Catholic living in the most holy Catholic center of the world, Rome. I, myself, loved to randomly stroll into the city’s churches and marvel over their beauty and peaceful atmosphere, but I did not feel the presence of a greater force, more there than anywhere else. It wasn’t until I came with Paolo to Sunday mass that I fully understood the influence on people those walls had.

People joined hands, cheek kissed and looked each other in the eyes as they proclaimed their belief. I did just like the others, but I felt completely out of place. As if someone was talking to me in a strange and different language, I nodded and smiled, but didn’t quite comprehend the significance of the words.

I still don’t.

But as I grow older I understand the difference between organized religion and belief. And I realize, I believe in a lot of things.

The power of true gratefulness is one of them.

So before I go to sleep every night, as I usually lie on my acupressure mat,

I whisper thank you’s…

For the comfort and safety that life provides for me

For all the moments that have played out during the day

For the emotions I am able – and choose to feel

For the smiles and for the tears

For the insights and knowledge I gain by experience

For the possibilities that lay like invisible stepping stones around me

For everything’s perfect proceeding

For the unconditional love that is faultlessly rooted in me

And I give thanks to you for being a part of it!

This is an extraordinarily well done video that goes through the history of the universe in 10 minutes.

It splices clips from various videos into one history/chemistry/physics/biology lesson. Even though I was a bio major and am a self proclaimed geek, there were things in this video that surprised me. For example, I had never learned how the moon was created.

If education could be like this, I think the problems in our world will be solved in no time.

Thursday November 26, 2009 By Kevin Morrow A couple years ago I set out on a mission to BE MYSELF. I

Thursday November 26, 2009 By Kevin Morrow

A couple years ago I set out on a mission to BE MYSELF. I really didn’t know exactly what I meant, but I knew it was something I needed to do. I felt like I was doing what other people were telling me, and not what I felt was right for me.

To be yourself you have to let a lot of things that don’t matter go. I have slowly realized this. I feel like a lot of people measure progress by time. Like four years from high school you graduate college and that is an accomplishment. I tend to see things a little differently. I think that your progress is really an uncovering of your self.

But it seems to me the more I hold on to things that are restricted by time, the more I am measuring my growth based on something that fades away. Every accomplishment will eventually fade away with time.

I have to ask myself, “What is self improvement really?” What does it mean to me?

My answer has to do with my mind and the reality that I experience. In order for me to do this I feel like I have to live my self image. Which at times has a lot to do with money. I look at money though and I see something that I would not want my self image to represent. As far as the the paper material.

I feel as if my self image is much bigger than I actualize. I know this to be due to how my mind sees reality. The thing is, if I put my self image value into material things that pass away, I am building a foundation on a spider web. Another way to put it it, “I’m skating on thin ice.” So what is the strongest foundation.

For me my strongest foundation has been that I know I can do better. I know I can be more loving in all aspects of my life. I feel that love is my real self image. But if I limit myself to something then I’m not open to other possibilities.

Also, when I identify money with my self image, something else shows up. The idea of loss. If I need money that means I’m lacking something, and when I have money that means it’s possible to lose it. This is where worry shows up.

A lot of people tell me that they are afraid to lose money, or they are afraid to lose their boyfriend/girlfriend, and this really makes me think. If I identify with money as my personal growth, I’ll limit myself from a lot of experiences.

I have told myself that I’m no longer afraid to be a what I know I can be. Instead of studying other people, I studied myself and then I compared my thoughts to those who were in positions I viewed as “high achievements.”

I have to ask myself what is it that I think I have to achieve? Me, and nobody else, what do I have to achieve? I had no answer for myself.

The only thing I know for certain is that I want to strengthen my faith in the higher power. In my mind I feel as though I don’t have to strengthen my faith. I feel like I just have to remember it.

Now I have come to a good solution within my mind. This is how I can live my life without being afraid. If I live my life out of unconditional love, remember my faith in the higher power/which in turn strengthens my faith in the higher power, I will have my real achievement.

Imagine I have no fear of money, therefore situations appear to mirror that reality in my life. This means to that however the money comes to me, I will not be afraid to lose it. I’m not afraid to lose it because I know that no matter what happens I will always have it. Why? Well because I’m not afraid to lose it.

If your not afraid to lose something, it must mean you have it. Either that or you don’t have it, or don’t care for it, but I used the first example as an illustration.

Worry and doubt are the opposites of FAITH

I’ve learned in my life that worry and doubt are the opposites of faith. The things I have faith in happening, actually happen in my life. This is something I rolled around my thoughts until the light bulb clicked.

There is a difference between me being a multimillionaire that thinks the money is who I am, and being a multimillionaire that knows the money is just a material tool. The more I feel the money is who I am, the more depressed I can get about the amount I have right now. But if I don’t look at it like that, I open myself up to infinite possibility.

My relationship with basketball has helped heal my mind…

The best examples I can give come from my relationship with basketball. I use to identify who I was with how I could play basketball. This was very shaky with me because my self image definitely is bigger than the current situation looks like. The key though, is that it only appears that way if that’s how I’m looking at it.

Today it doesn’t make sense to me that I put my self worth into how I perform on the court. There will be on days and off days. Some days I will dominate the court and some days I may not. So where does my self worth rest? To me it’s in who I help, and how I contribute to the team, whether physically or mentally or both.

That is a big challenge to me. I don’t want to dominate other people, I want to help everyone be their best, and in turn be my best at the same time. I also have a different view of domination. I see it as will-power instead. The will to win, the will to overcome defense, the will to overcome mental lapses. That’s what I view what some call domination. When I play against someone, I want them to make me better.

I see myself in people I know…

A lot of people I know play college ball, play pro ball, and I up until this blog I haven’t played as I see myself. These are creations of my mind. Because I get thrilled when I see somebody I know playing college ball or pro ball, all I want to do is help them become better in any way I can.

I love to see people live their dreams, its fun. I know a guy right now who plays basketball in northern Cali, and I think that he has the ability to play in the NBA. Maybe apart of me sees myself in him or something. Maybe that’s what happens when I see anybody I know playing college or pro. I think to myself, if I were them I would want to know that other people believed in me.

I know a few players who lived in my same city who are playing overseas and or about to. It brings a smile across my face. Something that they may never know, but I know. I feel it within me everyday.

It may sound strange but this is my blog and I put it all out there. I had a conversation about rappers calling themselves the king of rap, or even the God of rap as Jay-z would say.The thing with that is, there can never be a clear winner, and they are claiming something that will fade away. What is the point?

And what good is being a King if you don’t help other people?
I’m not saying they don’t do these things, I was just throwing the idea out there.

Check this out, if I put my worth into how I can play basketball, then anytime I’m defeated I may feel as though I’m nothing. Instead I should remember that I am SOMETHING, and focus on what should be done to win the next game.

I’ve been there. I can play basketball with the best of players. But when I identify and look at my situation then depressed feelings come in because my current situation is not what it could be. These are all things of that past that I no longer do. But I’m using my past to illustrate how the mind shapes its reality.

These are all images in the mind. I play the game because it’s fun. To me it’s fun when everyone on the team is on the same page, and the highlights are flowing, and the defense is intense. I love the energy of the game. But if I think that’s who I am, I become vulnerable to things that are counterproductive to who I think I am. Unless of course I know who I am.

I only view it as self improvement when I’m identifying with things that are subject to change. If I base my self-image off of things like love, teamwork, making others better, and contributing to the overall good of all, then I feel a true sense of accomplishment. It seems that’s just who I am.

I could play for any team in the NBA and contribute to them mentally and physically and I know I would contribute in a positive way. Where I am mentally I can feel this as true reality. Even if I didn’t play, I know that mentally I could help any team just based on how I view reality.

When I say things like this, it’s like I’m remembering myself.
When I set out on this journey that’s what I intended to do. I felt like I knew there was a greater me waiting to be uncovered.

It’s like coming out of amnesia, the whole time people are telling you who you are or were, but you have to uncover who you are for yourself. And who you are is always there no matter what. Everything that’s not real fades away, while everything that’s real lives on. That sentence is deeper than it looks for those that view themselves as “thinkers.”

Thank you for reading.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It’s as if the universe at large has demanded I play Fallen Earth…

I post on one day that I’m going to get Fallen Earth (but I’m a little cash poor at the moment); the next, Fallen Earth is half price on Steam. Now that’s what I call customer service!

No, I’m not getting paid to advertise that. Honest.

I actually found this out just before going to bed last night, in one of those; “Oh, Steam wants to update. I wonder why?” sort of ways. Well, I must admit it was all I could do not to immediately buy it there and then.

I’m going to stop now, in a Hawley In Short Post Shocker! (Full post on page 7) sort of way, because it’s not really in my nature to want to do any marketing machine’s work for them. I just wanted to do my little happy dance that it’s half price.

Cheers, Hawley.

PS: Thanks to Jamesy, who commented in yesterdays post. Appreciated.

It’s been no time and all time.
But,
a frail ink tears out of my pen
to rain this page
with the sere memory of you
(Swan)
and knowing that our days passed by
as the quick game of pool we’ve played
over a beer and a shot of Jack;
I’ll see you on the dust-kicked road
to Greece and a hermitage that you
would share with me.
But,
Rather than lose the wars,
they settled on the spoils of boredom.
But,
Rather than lose faith,
they twisted your spine
in the corner by your restless jacket.
But,
It’s been no time and all time.

My favorite blessing is from Halcyon and it is a modified version of a blessing his Grandpa used to give, he was such a bright star on this little planet:

“Dear universe, thank you for the miracles in every moment. Help me to be aware of all my blessings and be a loving presence in the world.”

What are you thankful for?

STORY SYNOPSIS…

Because the speed of light travels 186,000 miles per second, about 7.5 times around the earth in one second, every image we see is brought to us via light.

However, what you may think is instant visual is in fact delayed by the speed of light, it just looks instant.

For example, the Andromeda Galaxy is currently two million light years from here and what you are seeing is what it looked like two million years ago….The Andromeda galaxy could have blown up over a million years ago and you would not have know till now…..the computer screen you are watching is showing images a fraction of a second old…

The football player running down the field is sending us a picture the way it was a fraction of a second ago.

Trying to understand the world purely by thinking about it is as clumsy a process as trying to drink

Trying to understand the world purely by thinking about it is as clumsy a process as trying to drink the Pacific Ocean out of a pint beer mug. You can only take it one mug at a time. – Alan Watts

I got turned on to Alan Watts just yesterday, if you can believe that. Mike left a comment on the post yesterday and I followed the trail to his latest post where I listened to Alan Watts. What a cool guy! Anyway, this quote came from one of the links I listened to whilst perusing. He was saying that thoughts occur one at a time, and I think what he was getting at was the same damned thing all the nondual folks are always trying to shove down my throat, which is that I’ll never understand it with the mind. The mind can’t get it! Alan Watts died in 1973. See, even dead people piss me off!

Mike also left a link to a quote, which I’ll just go ahead an replicate so’s ya don’t have to keep flippin’ around the damned web.

Even the intellectual understanding of the inexistence of our ’selves’ is a rare and bitter attainment which few even attempt. And that is only the elimination round which qualifies us for access to Reality… Intellectual understanding should be not indispensable to a ’simple’ mind, but, with our conditioning, it would seem to be an almost inevitable preliminary. - Why Lazurus Laughed by Wei Wu Wei

Apparently, according to Wei Wu Wei (another fascinating character), an intellectual understanding is possible, although not likely. I’d like to think that I have such an intellectual understanding of the “inexistence of our ’selves’”, as I’ve mulled this junk over so many, many times. Then he says “…it would seem to be an almost inevitable preliminary.” To what? Preliminary to the experience of the inexistence of our ’selves’? He says the intellectual understanding is a rare and bitter attainment. I can understand bitter. I think I’m there, actually. It’s bitter not being able to find or locate your self. But here it is, in no particular location, always here, always watching, never moved or touched, just…. here. What the hell is it?

What the HELL is IT!!!!!

And how is that me? I am that blank nothing-screen that it’s all plastered on? Like I’m some kind of dry erase board or something. All this shit just “happens”, and I am some humongous infinite NOTHING that this Mike thingy happens in? What about the Mike thingy? What’s that? Me? Isn’t that me too? Why hell no, hadn’t I negated that bizarre little friggin’ anomaly away already? Mike isn’t me…. awww c’mon! Oh, for frick’s sake already! Sling ‘is head against the damned wall! Hack it off with a rusted sword! It’s just Mike… it’s nothing…. not who I really am… what the hell’s the difference?

OK, that was a bit twisted, but I felt it, so there ya go. I’ve got to take off and find some meat thermometers for smoking a 14 lb turkey tomorrow, so I’m gonna need that damned head to see where the hell I’m driving.

I watched a fascinating BBC documentary, and I’d posted it in the comments section of yesterdays post, but I think I’ll put it here as well. It’s long, but sure does getcha thinkin’. You clowns have a magnificent Thanksgiving weekend, unless your not American of course, in which case have a magnificent non-Thanksgiving weekend.

There are six parts to this, so pay attention.

Today, I found myself in an internet debate over the topic of Religion. A certain blogger who shall

Today, I found myself in an internet debate over the topic of Religion. A certain blogger who shall remain anonymous has made it their duty to call out religion and any beliefs that one may have as ‘weak’ and an excuse for the ‘misguided actions’ they apparently have ‘no control over’ (because we’re all morally weak, right?). They explained that religion is like a ’safety net’ in which those who believe ‘find comfort in’ when they fall victim to peer pressure.

I’d like to say this right now – and I don’t want to sound like a freaky religious person nor do I want to force my beliefs upon anyone – you have just as much proof that God does not exist as I have proof that he does exist. This universal debate has been ongoing for centuries and I fear it will go on for many more. As much as I’d like for the world to be a simple and peaceful place, it never will be while debates like this still exist.

[Science vs God]

Anyone who raises a point on one side can always be rebutted by another point on the opposing side. Scientists have spent lifetimes trying to find breakthroughs and explanations for why things are the way they are. There would be no need for these findings if everyone believed that it was created by someone greater than we are – someone above all of humanity – someone like God. Unfortunately, there will always be people who do not believe – the ’seeing is believing’ people. To such a point; one could argue that the earth is evidence, the sun, the air we breathe, humans, animals, nature…which is what I believe. But to those who don’t it won’t do anything but spark up the debate all over again.

Likewise, man has studied the bible through and through trying to match up the pieces of info and history of our universe. Christianity is preached all over the world – in most countries – and it has the biggest population of followers. Clearly, it is most logical explanation for why things are the way they are, and most people can see that. Though, again, to the non-believers, it’s all a myth; so really there’s no way of convincing them nor is there a ‘logical argument’, they would say.

While I have read the various theories of evolution and of the big bang, and the scientific evidence that supports it; I still can’t believe that life can be controlled/occur as a result of two random atoms colliding. Something as perfect, complex and intricate as the human body surely could not have been created by accident; by anything other than someone like God. How about babies? How do they survive in the womb? How are they automatically born with the reflex action of suckling when stroked on the cheek? How can something as simple as the anatomy of spider create such versatile and complicated webs?

Lol; I’m preaching aren’t I? I don’t mean to. But anyways, back to my point. The earth we live on is but a tiny spec of dust in a vast universe which stretches out further than any horizons and expands across any of our imaginations. You cannot begin to comprehend how large it or what else exists out there. It really is amazing. I can’t seem to believe that this is all a result of an accident though – that once upon a time there was nothing, and now there is a whole galaxy and solar system.

To the non-believers who base their opinions upon real, hard evidence in front of them – the ones who let science take over their life – I would just like to say this: have. some. respect. We may not all be smart geeks like you, we may not understand the laws of physics, or the basics of chemistry and biology – but that is no reason to undermine our beliefs and faith. I am sick to death of people shunning the bible as a mythological fairytale that was created by middle-aged men with no lives; and religion as the ‘weak’ alternative to living life.

Putting your faith into something/someone greater than who we are is not at all weak. I do not believe in God because I am scared of being eternally damned or suffering during my second life. I am not forced to believe in God by my parents, nor to attend Church on Sunday mornings. This my choice.

Religion is choice. You can’t say you’re a Christian just because you’ve been to Church every Sunday of your life since the day you born and then go out and do everything the bible tells you not to do. Sure, you may have gone to Church your whole life, but by not following God’s law, you are making a choice – to not be a good follower/faithful.

I’m not saying that doing what you want and not following the bible is weak, either. Like I said, it’s a choice. I choose to follow God’s law and put my faith in Him – and because of that I feel strength, not weakness. Just like people choose not to follow Him because they don’t believe there is enough evidence. I do no fear of being eternally damned if I sin once because I know that God will forgive me if I am truly sorry. Likewise, I don’t say I’m a believer purely because I don’t want to be eternally damned – I’m a believer because I have gone to Church practically every Sunday of my life and I have listened. I read the bible and I see the evidence in my life. Believing in God does not make me fearful; but rather strong and proud. I know that wherever I go and whatever I do, I will always be safe because God will always be right by my side.

So, to conclude – this really was in retaliation to the blog I read earlier today and also an opportunity for me to vent my anger and feelings. To the non-believers – I have respect for what you believe, please have some respect for what I believe. To those who may wonder – why do good people suffer? Why is there so much evil in the world? Well I’ll tell you; these are God’s trials – tests, if you will, to measure your faithfulness and loyalty to God. Without bad, there’d be no good to separate it from. Without suffering, there would be no compassion or forgiveness.

Arguing about whether God exists or not/any religion for that matter – is always going to be a moot debate. No one will ever win. Stop doing it. Respect each other.

That’s all I have to say for now.

-Ania

[edit]

P.S I realise that in my last post I mentioned my love for the show ‘The Big Bang Theory’. Granted, my love stems only from the fact that it is an extremely hilarious show – I am not a psycho, hypocritical religious person.

Gone by 2012? Well probably not. However according to a lot of research there are many sides to this

Gone by 2012?

Well probably not. However according to a lot of research there are many sides to this coin. There is evidence that supports many theories some of the going back to the early 1900′ and others going back as further than recorded time. What we do know that the earth is billions of years old and it has been through it numerous cycles then end of the Mayan calendar just marks another cycle. We are all familiar with the twelve horoscopes. These represent the position of our planet in relation to the stars positions in the sky as our planet revolves around the sun. The different time of year correspond to the earth’s position as well as it’s tilt on its axis as well as the distance from the Sun and neighboring stars. Each one of these zodiac pretty much represent an era. This era is how long it takes our world to cycle though them just like a clock on a wall or the turning of the pages of a calendar.

There is an invisible force throughout the whole universe. Its has been given many names such as gravity, energy, chi, black matter, anti matter and so on. Whatever it is, it is there just as the meridian flow of energy mapped out in acupuncture, how the water flushes down the toilet clockwise on one side of the earth and counter-clockwise on the other or Isaacs Newton’s apple falling from a tree. Its is the ever expansion of the universe, the static shock we get when we drag our feet on carpets and touch a door know or even the possibility of two people thinking of the same think at the same time via minor telepathy or even the deja-vu experience. ( in which I like to call it the vu-deja, the way it really occurs.. as above so below)

We are all aware of the apparent affect the moon has on the waters of our planets causing the rising and falls of the tides. Just the same we know that we humans are around 85% water. Statistics do show the change in police activity due to the effect the full moon has on people and where we probably coin the term lunatic (lunar = moon) like in our mythical werewolves stories. Further more these days we understand the direct correlation the moon has on the earth to the point that earthquake prediction can also be established. All in all whether we see it or not there is a divine order to our world and our universe that can not be ignored, just understood.

The next cycle is about to begin. What does it bring, what does it take away. Is it physical? Is it mental. Is it the end or is it the beginning? Well from the info that I will post you can look at and decide for yourself. We can often learn of our future by looking at our past. Maybe if we look in the past, we don’t want to know what the future may bring. Well then for an uplifting moment live each day of your life-like it is your last, for tomorrow is not promised to you. Be happy, mend relationships, forgive, love and enjoy life for the splendors it offers. It is your right. Go forth without fear and become the cycle for we are all from the all and the All is One!

I’ve been giving some thought to the objections that have been raised by those who see anthropocentricity as an objection to creationism or even theism. The epistemological gap is fundamental and cannot be avoided. I can only see the universe through my perceptions and then rely on my perceptions of others to come to what really amounts to a perception-consensus about what truth is. Nobody in the RichardDawkins.net forum seems to account for the fact that even a unity of thought, as to what scientific observations/perception mean, does not warrant the conclusion that the issue of how the universe or Man came to be is resolved.

Name one scientific rule that is wholly infallible and which can never be changed. Does evolution theory get a special dispensation from its believers? Why not admit that evolution may very well be only a partial answer, a best answer, but certainly not the final answer? Until one ‘gets off the dime’ on the position of absolutism, there cannot be the possibility of argument. If either the the evolutionists or the creationists have the absolute final answer, there is nothing to talk about. If there are, among them, those who are willing to come off the absolutism platform, at least for purposes of argument, a discussion can be had.

As Denish D’Souza points out, for example, it may very well be that is has been accepted as a rule that light travels at 186,000 mph. However, no scientist knows whether that is true in all places in the universe or near wormholes or blackholes, assuming these exist. If there is a background noise, we don’t know what happens to light at the ‘edge of the universe.’ The law of physics as they apply to light, for example, are subject to revision. In several places in the God Delusion, and in Dawkins’ Darwin Lecture at Stanford, he does unequivocally claim that natural selection and evolution are the only plausible answer(s) for all that is — thereby allowing him to eliminate one more god from the list of others who have fallen at the hands of intellectualism and science. Nevertheless, he has not, and cannot, defeat the human conception that there is something higher than genetic destiny and that higher thing sits outside of our personal/human condition.

The response that I see to the anthropocentricity objection is essentially as follows:

I am the center of my perception as you are to yours. The further we look into the world the more we come to an understanding of the atomic universe and the principles that govern it. Incredibly, microbiology seems to be coming up with many of the same findings or observations that the astrophysicists are (i.e., as to the atomic structure of all that is and the rules that govern it).

Similarly, the further out we look into the universe, we revert to a principled view of the atomic universe. Under either analysis, we come back to the same place and remain the center of our universe. We are the center of our universe and we always come back to the same place — as we must. Can you separate yourself from your perceptions? What is it that you know about the universe that has not come through and by perception?

Just think about it — at any given time, you are at a center of Earth since it is a sphere. (unless there is a desire to get into a discussion about the earth’s magnetic fields and pole alignment). Indeed, you can begin measuring away from yourself in any direction and will reach the same infinitude in terms of space and time. Prove otherwise. Until the astrophysicists can measure from Earth to the ‘background noise’, the presumption seems to be in favor of treating the Universe as though it is infinite in any direction.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that we are so anthropocentric and limited by our human condition. My own anthropocentric perception is unique and cannot be the mere byproduct of a genetic destiny and yet be so vastly different from the perceptions of others. Again, animals seem to have a limited sense of self and the ability to change the self. Humans seem to be created by evolution, or otherwise, as something completely different as to function and purpose (or lack thereof).

We are each undeniably the center of the universe known for us. Separate yourself from your perception and you might have the opportunity to live the life of an animal. Our awareness of our own perception dictates our ability to strive for change in the self, environment, and a glimpse of something higher than ourselves. Our perception is the beginning of freewill. The question seems to be whether our ability to engage in freewill (moral behavior by ‘choice’) is the result of being created/evolved from something higher or different than the general animal kingdom. In any event, the anthropocentric position is equally applicable to evolutionists as well as the creationists. Self loathing by either side doesn’t seem to fix this fundamental problem.

Absolutism has absolutely no place in human existence where it has to be admitted that human perception, even in groups, is subject to revision.

This is just a few items that I find interesting relative to the timeline of events after the big bang.

In the beginning of the 20th century the dominate scientific theory was that the universe was eternal and essentially unchanging. In other words was always here and would always be here. By the end of the 20th century the major belief among the scientist was that the universe was expanding. And if expanding then it follows that in the past it was smaller or more compact and took less space. The theory has the universe expanding from a primordial hot and dense initial condition at a finite time about 13.7 billion years ago. The popular term for this theory is “the big bang”.

One way to visualize this “initial condition” is: it is all the energy of the universe so dense and compact that it takes up virtually no space. This is really an awesome thought very hard to deal with mentally. Where did it come from? Science doesn’t have an answer for that.

Is this the beginning of time? Perhaps. The science starts at the big bang. Scientists can model the universe back to 10-43 seconds after the big bang. For a reference a nano-second is 10-9 seconds. So 10-43 seconds is a very small fraction of a nano-second. And it takes a billion nano-seconds to equal a second. So the model does not go back to the big bang, but it gets very very close..

After about one second protons formed. Protons are in the nuclei of atoms. One proton is the nucleus of an atom of hydrogen. The lightest of all elements. In the first few minutes after the big bang nuclei of hydrogen, helium (2 protons) and lithium (3 protons) are formed.

Now for larger leaps of time. After about 380,000 years the first atoms formed. These were primarily hydrogen atoms. But also included other light elements, helium and lithium. Electrons combined with the nuclei to form atoms. An atom of hydrogen consists of 1 proton in the nucleus and 1 electron in orbit around the nucleus. Helium with 2 protons in the nucleus has 2 electrons in orbit, lithium 3 of each.

After about 100 million years the first stars formed. The hydrogen atoms in the stars fuse to form the heavier elements up to and including iron. At about 500 million years after the big bang galaxies started forming.

Our solar system, the sun and 8 planets and a number of moons formed about 4.6 billion years ago about 9 billion years after the big bang.

So the scientist over the last few hundred years have helped us change our view of the earth from flat to spherical. Due to their discoveries our understanding of our solar system has changed from the sun circling the earth to the opposite. But we still say the sun rises and sets. And now our concept of the universe has changed from existing forever to having a beginning 13.7 billion years ago and is expanding.

OH!… the changes! Life has been quite eventful the past month, I owe it all to my conscious vi

OH!… the changes! Life has been quite eventful the past month, I owe it all to my conscious vibration and the Universe, of course. We are all energetic beings, although we have what appears to be a solid body, we are actually vibrating atoms. Meaning we are able to consciously (and un- or sub-consciously) vibrate or manipulate matter to work for or against us. I choose to work with it.

For starters, I threw in the solely ’self-employed’ towel because I set out to build my business as much as possible in a month, knowing that after 30 days I would need to be gainfully employed again. After about 36 days I was blessed to be given a teaching position at a preschool here in the city. I’ve been doing that for the past few weeks and it’s been a blast! It has proven to be a bit of a challenge… well more than a bit, but it is one of the most rewarding experiences I could have ever manifested!

I’ve always wanted to be a teacher but after attempting to earn a bachelors in Early Childhood Education, I realized the basics needed weren’t basic at all. Most universities and colleges require an extensive amount of nonsensical courses (no offense – I do realize teaching is not babysitting and you do need to have structured, formal education) to appear on your transcript which I didnt feel were necessary — I mean really, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to nurture a child. It does however take patience and everyday I’m becoming more equipped.

In addition to being blessed with a new schnazzy ’career’, my Intuitive Wellbeing Counseling services (or Healing Arts) have been growing! The Universe has a magnificent way of aligning those who are intuned — I recently provided an incredible author, Jason Matthews, with a Psychic Divination Reading a.k.a, a Tarot reading.

I was led to Jason’s site via his wife’s site, New Moon Manifesting. It’s an incredibly informative site about harnessing the power of the New Moon and making it work for your intentions. I then meandered on over to Jason’s site and found his awesome manuscripts (that are downloadable for free!) for his novel. To make a somewhat long story short, I offer FREE Tarot readings (called FREE Tarot Fridays!) on Fridays of every week and Jason inquired about one. He enjoyed his reading so much he posted a blog about it and even donated! Thx Jason!

And the great news doesn’t stop there!!

I’m not your traditional marketer or networker.. I do it guerilla style, if you know what I mean… One afternoon, I stopped to get gas in the city and had been placing my business cards in libraries, metaphysical bookshops and such but had an intuitive nudge to leave a card at the filling station I was at. So I did! I slipped in the plastic module that holds the gas card applications — in hopes that my intuition served me right (which it always does, you should try using it sometime ). The very next day, I received a call from a woman who was seeking just what I have to offer, Conscious Childbirth Education!

We chatted one Saturday afternoon about her desires for a natural pregnancy and homebirth and I informed her of the Conscious Childbirth Education Workshop that I offered. She was ecstatic to have found my business card at the filling station because just a few days prior she’d discussed with her spouse how much she wanted to have a natural, conscious birthing experience.

Now, we all know that everything is not all peaches and roses and what not, but I choose not to dwell in the negative (anymore) because it doesn’t do much good for your well-being. With that said, of course there have been mishaps and “setbacks”. I look at them as signs to slow down [re-evaluation] and change courses [growth].

As some of you may be aware I was planning on participating in the wonderful NaNoWriMo in hopes of writing my first novel. Apparently the Universe had other plans for me. The second day into typing my soon-to-be novel, my laptop was completely destroyed!! I’m talking cracked screen, wet keys, destroyed. But once again, the Universe is always working in your favor if you allow it.

The evening that I discovered my laptop was demolished I was at a local coffee shop that I absolutely, never go to (I don’t drink coffee, so it really seemed ‘random’ that I’d even be led there). When I walked in I saw a friend of mine who happens to be a computer whiz and rebuilder. I sat down and conversed with him, proceeded to open my laptop only to find that it was completely dismantled – he then spent the next 5hrs copying my files from my hardrive onto a disc… What a Godsend!

You see, I could’ve looked at that experience and been devastated or even temporarily paralyzed because of it, instead I chose to view it from the eyes of a Creator and saw beautiful alignment not tragic inconvenience. Life happens, things appear to be gloom and doom but there is ALWAYS a silver lining, you just have to recognize it.

The Universe is magnificent and always aligning to our vibration, no matter what. When situations arise that seem ‘to good to be true’ it’s best to be appreciative, give thanks and give back!

What is your energetic vibration aligning to? Are you aware of your manifestations? Take the time to consciously manifest!

Scar

Across the earth across
my hands
open, old, and deep
a forgotten time

once there were fresh buds bursting forth
once this wound was not a wound,
but a beginning
a birth and becoming

and now the pebbles scatter, freckles across
boulders shaken to the core
can I break through their dark solidness?
through the scar?

beneath,
where I dare not go
where the rawness remains
anxiety, newness

the opening of eyes, rimmed with phlegm and trickling tears
an infant
the child of the universe
was this me? it wasn’t, was it?

because here I am, kneeling in dust, fingers curled over the edge
of the earth
peering into depths so dark
my eyes fail

to open this past, I need to feel,
to reach my hands down and in,
and touch the warmth
the magma singeing the center

still I hover at the edge
of the scar
