“Indigenous Voices on Climate Change” Film Festival
9 December – 13 December 2009 (Copenhagen, Denmark)

As part of the UNU contribution to the UNFCCC COP 15 climate negotiations in Copenhagen, to be held from 7-18 December 2009, the “Indigenous Voices on Climate Change” film festival includes a collection of compelling stories from indigenous communities across the world highlighting on-the-ground local evidence of the real impacts of, and adaptation to, climate change. The traditional knowledge of many communities embodies a deeply spiritualized and ancient relationship with the earth’s systems and cycles. The diversity of indigenous cultures provides unique insights and powerful codes on how to live harmoniously within nature. By sharing these indigenous stories of vulnerability and adaptation, we also share ideas on how ancestral wisdom and traditional knowledge is being incorporated into adaptation strategies.

With regard to negotiations, discussions on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD), as well as on finance for adaptation, are of particular relevance to indigenous peoples. Several side-events address REDD; and an Inuit Circumpolar Conference event addresses the use of Inuit TK in climate change decision making. Traditional indigenous fire management techniques deployed against climate change

CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA: A landmark Australian project that mitigates the extent and severity of natural savannah blazes by deploying traditional Indigenous fire management techniques is being hailed as a model with vast global potential in the fights against climate change and biodiversity loss, and for protecting Indigenous lands and culture. The West Arnhem Land Fire Abatement (WALFA) project is expected to generate at least 1 million tonnes worth of carbon credit sales annually, creating over 200 new jobs in traditional Northern Australia Indigenous communities. Similar projects can be adopted in the savannas of Africa, where the potential for reductions is very high. According to UN Under Secretary-General Konrad Osterwalder, Rector of UNU, “This experience is the best example in the world of indigenous and local communities using the emerging carbon market to develop culturally appropriate livelihoods.” Read the press release …

23 November 2009. Seorang hacker bernama Unu menuliskan dalam blognya bahwa ia baru saja “berjalan-jalan” di server Symantec. Dengan menggunakan Blind SQL Injection, Unu mengakui telah mengakses informasi sensitif seperti data pelanggan dan karyawan Symantec. Satu hal yang membuatnya terkejut adalah: password dari semua user disimpan dalam plain text.

We randomly selected 6 users, from number 100 to 105, in the table. I was outraged when I saw the result shown by sqlmap. These users passwords are stored in CLEAR TEXT !!!!!!!.

Lebih lanjut ia mengatakan, “Sungguh aneh. Perusahaan seperti Symantec yang menawarkan solusi keamanan justru tidak dapat melindungi dirinya sendiri.” Hmm, tidak dapat atau tidak mau ya?

Pada bagian akhir tulisannya, Unu menegaskan bahwa tujuan dari aksinya itu adalah untuk memberi peringatan.

Pada bulan Februari, Kaspersky telah terkena injeksi SQL. Mereka mengakui kelemahannya, dan itu membuat saya kagum. Walaupun awalnya marah pada saya, pada akhirnya mereka paham bahwa saya tidak mengambil data apapun dan tidak menggunakannya untuk kepentingan apapun. Tujuan saya, sampai saat ini, adalah mengingatkan. To call attention.

Sementara itu, sebagaimana dikutip oleh detik, Symantec menyebutkan bahwa insiden ini hanya berimbas pada pelanggan di Jepang dan Korea Selatan, tapi tidak berpengaruh pada keamanan dan penggunaan produk konsumer Norton Symantec.

Symantec tengah meng-update situs dengan standar keamanan yang sesuai, dan akan kembali online sesegera mungkin. Symantec sedang menyelidiki insiden ini dan belum ada informasi detail lainnya yang bisa disampaikan saat ini

Climate Change Experiences in Northern Australia – Health, Adaptation, Forest Management and Global Relevance

Learning from the practitioners: benefit sharing perspectives from enterprising communities

Launched on the margins of ABS 8, this study uses an analytical framework to take a closer look at benefit sharing by focusing on inter- and intra-community equity in economic transactions related to bioprospecting. Specifically, it examines the management and use of biological resources for income-generating activities at the local level by the providers of the resources. The study also focuses on how various communities in a range of ecosystems share the benefits derived from economic activities and how that affects their ability to meet their needs and ensure social and economic well-being. Representatives of fourteen communities from various ecosystems provided information on their priorities for resource use and management, acquisition of benefits and mechanisms for the distribution of benefits among their members, including challenges they face in the process. e cu ghinion

Not really… not here at least… people say its cold when its 15*C, but that’s not cold, right? Well… I was kinda hoping for snow, but my friends say that its not normal to see snow where I’m staying now, but maybe I’ll see a little.

Okay~ Sunday: Nothing special, just relaxing and went food shopping with my hostfamily.

Monday: Science, math, japanese, homeroom and club. In science we did some experiments, don’t remember the names of them, but I think I’ve done them before at school in Norway. In math we still have about graphs. In japanese I studied japanese by myself because they had a kanji test again. And in homeroom… I don’t remember what we talked about. Club was not as fun a I hoped it would be. Because the second years aren’t there (they’re in taiwan) and because my legs were(and still are) hurting. But we tried out the round thing that’s like a plate or something and threw it ~ yes, that was monday.

Tuesday: world history, music, english, computer and club(but I didn’t go..)
world history.. don’t remember, but I don’t sleep in class anymore. In music we’re going to have about the “Koto”. its a Japanese classical string instrument. (search about it on google if you don’t know what it looks like). So we learned the basic about it. mm, in english… we had about english ~ wuhuhuhu, some of my classmates’ english isn’t that bad actually. And in computer we still had about sending mails and so. Instead of going to club because my legs were hurting, I went to fujisawa with Teresa(exchange student from sweden) because she wanted to buy pants. and then we went home ~

Wednesday: japanese, home economics, english and club. Japanese, self study again because they have about kanji. In home economics they were making “obentobox thingy”, they had already started making it the week I didn’t come to school because I was sick, so I only started on mine, and didn’t finish it… english was english and I went to club, but my legs were still not good, so I didn’t enjoy it… (my day)

Thursday: math, exchange students’ japanese, english and cleaning.
math: graphs, japanese: kanji test (I did so-so), english: test again, we have one every thursday I figured, (22 out of 30). And we were going to clean a park, but in my group we were only going around saying we wanted to go home ~ but we did a bit.

Friday: exchange students went to the UNU(united nations university). it was really nothing special, they only talked about the UN and what they do and stand for. And I’m supposed to write a report about it… gah… I donno what to write. this was from 9am to 5 pm… “working nine to five, tryin’ to make a livin’ ” (9 to 5 by dolly parton)

And today, I had club, but my legs need rest, so I didn’t go. Tomorrow I’m going to go karaoke with my classmates, haruna, yuuki, emiko and nami <3 Because they really wanted to do something with me. I'll take pictures and put them up.

Vulnerabilitatea descoperită de Unu se pare că expune publicului informaţii confidenţiale, printre care se numără şi date de logare necriptate, relatează The Register, unul dintre cele mai respectate site-uri de IT din Marea Britanie.

Prin derularea unor comenzi la sfârşitul adreselor web, este, astfel, posibil păcălirea serverului de la site, care oferă date ce în mod normal nu sunt publice. Hackerul român a declarat că a lăsat încă de duminică două mesaje de avertizere către webmasterii site-ului, însă vulnerabilitatea nu a fost remediată. Avertizările venite din partea The Register şi Softpedia au rămas şi ele fără nici un rezultat până în acest moment. Ca dovadă, mesajul din această clipă de pe pagina vulnerabilă.

The REDD Site: Indigenous Peoples and Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation

The United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies (UNU-IAS) Traditional Knowledge Initiative has recently re-launched the REDD Site, part of a pilot project on promoting the effective participation of indigenous peoples in processes for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD). The REDD Site is an information bulletin and blog with a specific focus on the ongoing development of an international REDD mechanism and its implications for indigenous peoples. The initiative highlights REDD projects and resources relevant to indigenous peoples’ particular needs, and aims to inform discussions in the lead up to Copenhagen. The overall aims of the project are to assist with current efforts to raise awareness about REDD issues amongst indigenous peoples, and to assist indigenous peoples to develop a long-term strategy to empower themselves in REDD activities. Water, Cultural Diversity and Global Environmental Change: Emerging Trends, Sustainable Futures?

Organized by UNESCO International Hydrological Programme, Research Institute for Humanity and Nature and UNU-IAS Traditional Knowledge Initiative, this international symposium aims at encouraging global recognition of, and respect for, cultural diversity in water resources management, in order to facilitate collaborative actions for sustainability of water and cultures. Participants will address issues including: “water cultures”  and the culture of water; how traditional ways of life are threatened due to the loss of water resources and how traditional knowledge might contribute towards future water security; how water resource development and management has undermined the viability of culturally diverse groups and how water resource management can strengthen biodiversity and cultural diversity; and strategic recommendations for incorporating sociocultural perspectives into water resource management systems, addressing rights and entitlements to water, and stewardship principles and responsibilities. The Whizz of Electrons and the Wisdom of Elders: Linking Traditional Knowledge and Western Science

With pressing environmental challenges like climate change and increasing socio-economic complexities, the relationship between traditional knowledge (TK) and science is not receiving considerable attention. At the forefront of innovation are numerous research initiatives that link TK and western science such as an Australian Carbon Abatement project that is based on Aboriginal fire-burning practices and a water catchment experiment that uses Maasai TK and modern technology. Sâmbătă dimineaţa ma-m trezit cu No Surprises in loop. Mi-o trebuit puţin să mă dezmeticesc să îmi dau seama că de fapt îmi suna telefonu. După băga-mi-aş-urile de rigoare şi înviorarea de dimineaţă m-am hotărât să mă plimb 3-4 străzi în jurul complexului weekend (cam atâta reţin eu în general înainte să mă pierd), ca să nu stau la soare şi ca să îmi ocup cu ceva timpu până ajungeau oamenii veniţi pentru NIN (cu care eram foarte nerăbdătoare să mă văd, oameni dragi şi nevăzuti de ceva luni fiind). Unu din oamenii respectivi fiind chiar Marius (babylonoise), aialaltă bucată a blogului de faţă.

Am dat o tură prin jur. Am urcat până la jumătatea unor scări f multe (care nici un tîrgumureşean pe care îl cunosc nu o ştiut să îmi zică unde merg); am abandonat pentru că îmi bătea soarele fix în cap şi nu am mai avut chef.
Pe la 3 mi-am văzut oamenii. Îmbrăţişări, pupături, stat pe o terasă la un suc/o bere, toate astea până la 17:30.

Kumm

Ultima dată i-am văzut pe la începutul lui decembrie, în Cluj. Ori nu eram eu în dispoziţie, ori le lipsea lor ceva, dar concertu ăla nu m-o atins deloc. Eram foarte curioasă cum e noul baterist, cum se integrează, şi mai ales, dacă reuşeşte să umple locul lăsat de Domi.

De data asta mi-au părut mult mai energici şi mai cu chef de cântat. Angels and Clowns mi-o plăcut foarte foarte tare. Morsa tot nu mă încântă…mi se pare în continuare un hit de sezon şi cam atât. Dar per total o sunat foarte bine, o trecut foarte natural şi uşor peste un moment gol (ceva acorduri ce făceau baiuri cred).

Lumea, după cum mă şi aşteptam, o venit chiar dacă o cântat aşa devreme. M-am mirat puţin câtă energie o scos publicu. Cu câteva minute înainte să înceapă aveam impresia că toată lumea e într-o stare de semihibernare. Paul dă foarte bine în trupă, deci no problem there.

Convinsă fiind că OCS cântă de la de la 21 la Coke Terrace, adică în acelaşi timp cu Primal Scream, şi neştiind de fapt că s-o făcut modificări în program şi cântau la scena mare, m-am dus să îmi fac terapia prin şoc, adică duşu ăla rece zilnic, şi am ratat să văd cum se mai ţine Amariei pe picioare.

Am prins cam 20 de minute de Iris. Nimic interesant sau impesionant. M-am folosit de timpu respectiv să stau la o discuţie gărli cu o gagică dragă mie pe care nu o mai văzusem de la sfârşitul lui decembrie.

Primal Scream

Ştiam prea puţine piese de la ei, dar eram curioasă să văd cum se prezintă live. Nu mi-au displăcut, dar nu pot să zic nici că m-o dat pe spate. O fost un concert ok, genu de trupă la care aş mai sta dacă ar mai veni să cânte în deschidere, dar nu cred că m-aş duce la un concert doar pentru ei. Am stat deci mai în spate, am mai schimbat câte un cuvânt cu oamenii din jur, şi am văzut unu din cele mai drăguţe lucruri ever. 3 copilaşi la vreo 3-4 ani, unu în tricou cu Red Hot Chili Peppers, sora-sa cu tricou cu Ramones, şi un al treilea blonduţ, cu păru lung, şi tricou cu Iron Maiden. Ah, da, cu părinţii, evident Foarte energici copiii, tot înfiletau pe jumătate capace la sticle de jumate şi apoi călcau pe ele să văda care îl trimite mai departe. M-o cam prin ruşinea când mi-am amintit că io făceam aşa ceva prin a9a. Şi treaba cu tricou trv, şi aia cu capacele de sticle de jumate.

Poze n-am că nu mi-o ieşit absolut nici una. Lumini dubioase.

Nine Inch Nails

Îmi pace la concerte. Mult de tot. Mai ales setu ăla de stări care trec prin mine. O păţesc mai ales la alea pe care le aştept foarte mult. La primu Anathema, în 2005 (edit: 2006, de fapt, după cum mi s-o atras atenţia) la Budapesta. La Placebo-u din 2006, The Gathering-ul din 2007, UNKLE şi Nouvelle Vague la Bestfest, Massive Attack şi Spirtual Front de anu trecut. Şi acum, în faţa scenei pe care se pregăteau să urce Nine Inch Nails. Prima dată vine zâmbetu tâmp de pe faţă (probabil îmi sticlesc şi ochii da nu m-am studiat niciodată să văd), apoi mi se înmoiae genunchii.

Am rămas, iar, mută şi fascinată la primele 3 piese. De lumini, de cât de bine se auzea, de cât de mişto arată şi se mişcă Trent, şi restu for that matter, pe scenă. Am început să mă dezmeticesc, iar când am auzit începuturile de la Piggy eram deja cu inima în gât si ritmu în tot corpu.  I’m Afraid of Americans (Bowie) m-o lăsat cu gura căscată. Serios, uitaţi-vă numa cât de bine arată şi le zice omu ăsta pe scenă.

Habar nu am cum o trecut aşa repede timpu, şi cum s-o mers din piesă în piesa, da numai am văzut că băieţii se dau jos de pe scenă şi lumea îi scandează pentru bis. Momentul următor, bisul bestial, Hurt cântat din toţi plămânii din jur o fost excelent. Genu de piesă pe care poţi să îţi strigi toate frustrările înmagazinate şi ascunse prin colţuri de creiere. O fost superb, perfect chiar, pentru standardele mele.

La final, nici măcar nu mi-o mai părut rău că am ratat Parov Stelar (care se desfăşura cu trupa la Coke Terrace). Aveam starea aia de bine lăsată de un concert foarte aşteptat. M-am învârtit pe lângă scenă, am schimbat impresii cu oamenii cunoscuţi cu care m-am întâlnit. N-am găsit om căruia să nu îi placă cum o sunat Nine Inch Nails.

Richard Dorfmeister care mixa la Coke Terrace ne-o făcut numai să mergem mai repede înspre cortul de dnb, unde urmau Booka Shade. Ăştia ştiutori din jurul meu îmi ziceau că îs buni. Mi-o plăcut, în limitele în care îmi place mie o trupă de dnb. O avut un joc f fain de lumini în spate, şi un public energic şi numeros.

Vroiam să stau şi la Unu’, măcar de dragul anilor de liceu. Am rezistat jumătate de oră. Nu de plictiseală sau ceva, dar mă pălise un somn…Am ales să mă duc să dorm, decât să stau ca un zombie între toţi oamenii care dansau pe acolo.

Am adormit cu Reznor în gând. Eu şi probabil multe gagici din juru meu Ca să nu mai numărăm şi tipii

Federer bate record dupa record si redevine numarul 1 intr-o finala dramatica in fata lui Roddick: “Tenis de vis”!

Partida a durat mai bine de 4 ore, aceasta avand nevoie de set decisiv pentru a decide castigatorul. Scorul final al meciului a fost 3-2 pentru elvetian: 5-7, 7-6(6), 7-6(5), 3-6, 16-14.

Blocat undeva departe visez la ziua când se va termina şi mă voi întoarce. AMR mult… tic… tac…

“curocefalul” e o fiinta stranie, atat de des intalnita incat de cele mai multe ori  nu e recunoscuta ca atare.  “Curocefalul” nu are nationalitate, insa se imparte, in functie de grai si crez in diferite subspecii.   “Curocefalul” roman se considera (in mod eronat) crestin-ortodox, aceasta fiind prima sa caracteristica,  de la care deriva majoritatea celorlalte atribute ale acestei creaturi. El admira biserica, o considera un pilon al moralitatii si un element de unitate nationala, tinde sa isi apare aceasta conceptie, chiar cu riscul de a cadea in sfera penibilului. Trebuie desigur inteles faptul ca aceasta fiinta se considera descendetul moral al sfintilor parinti, care, in opinia sa, bizara, sunt cu totii romani “intr-u” spirit.

“Curocefalul” traieste cu impresia ca isi iubeste patria si ca sangele stramosilor ii curge prin vene si ca neamul sau e curat, neprihanit iar excesele morale care apar in societatea contemporane se datoreaza in totalitate unei nefaste influente occidentale. Trebuie spus ca in conceptia sa, atat statele unite cat si europa de vest reprezinta un taram al pacatului, strain de Dumnezeu si condamnat la pieire. Pe de alta parte nici influenta orientala nu pare pentru ei prea fasta caci din spatiul estic provin atat comunismul (cel mai mare dusman al curocefalului) cat si cotropirile turcesti sau molima iudaica(care, de multe ori se suprapune cu comunismul in accesele de ura si furie ale elementelor acestei specii). Astfel, putem trage concluzia ca in conceptia curocefalista, spatiul romanesc este unicul leagan de civilizatie autentica, crestina si astfel mantuita. In plus curocefalului ii displac si ungurii (cu a lor politica expansionista si cu taria cu care ei refuza sa invete limba romaneasca, limba a mantuirii), tiganii (care fura,bat,violeaza,ucid,put,par amenintatori,cara scocuri si poarta palarii lipsite de gust), sasii(ca au plecat si au lasat casele lor libere de se muta tigani in ele), armenii(tot un fel de evrei) si orice alta scursura de neam care se ascunde pe sfintele meleaguri romanesti.

Curocefalul se vrea cult,rafinat, astfel se lauda, deseori excesiv, cu faptul ca nu ii plac manelele si ca le vrea interzise, citeste mult, insa singurul motiv pentru care deschide o carte e de a se putea lauda ulterior cu faptul ca a citit si adopta tipare comportamentale care ar trebui sa denote un grad ridicat de rafinament.

Se teme de conspiratii, crede in incercarile masoneriei iudeo-marxiste de a prelua controlul lumii, si stie ca doar el poate opri acest periculos fenomen.

Crede ca freud a fost un idiot si ca lumea e spirit nu sex; crede ca darwin a fost un idiot si ca lumea e spirit nu sex.

Curocefalul modern are de cele mai multe ori un blog care il ajutata se considere important si care ii da un rost in viata.

In istoria romaniei exista un numar semnificativ de curocefali renumiti,ce provin  in special din perioada interbelica: Nae Ionescu, Corneliu Codreanu, Tutea,  etc.
