I’m pretty sure many of people have heard of Soshified the big international fan forums for SNSD that opened back in February 2008. Well they are now hiring Moderators and Gallery (Picture) Uploaders. Now there ARE requirements that must be met before you go off and fill out an application.
For Moderators, you MUST have 100 non spam post and have been a member of Soshified BEFORE September 1st 2009.
For Uploaders, you should have a pretty decent internet connection. Don’t know how fast your connection is? Test it out with SpeedTest.net. It would be helpful, imo, if you knew other fansites (ie sosiz, snsdchina, individual fansites, etc) from where you could get pictures to upload. Remember, you would be uploading a LARGE amount of pictures on the forum site.

You think you have what it takes to be on the staff? Then apply by clicking the SOSHIFIED LOGO above. Make sure to read all the instructions and good luck :]

Salve a tutti!

Salve a tutti!

2. Clicchiamo su SIGN UP ( ovvero la REGISTRAZIONE ) e compiliamo i seguenti campi:

- e-mail ( necessariamente reale,vedremo poi perchè)

- conferma e-mail

Ciao a tutti

Original flickr uploader is very slow, especially preparing big sets of pictures for a batch. Big, I mean ~500 pictures of 6Mpixels. BBy the way, for me, looks like this tool written on firefox-like platform.

Flickr uploadr

Than I found Juploadr. Could not download because server gave 500 error . And it’s written in java=slow.

Today I’ve tried Vista Flickr Uploader. I was surprised, that same set of pictures it prepared less than in a minute. That’s awesome! It has some UI bugs, but it does the job: uploads pictures to your sets.

Vista flickr uploadr

In general, I find more more interesting projects on codeplex. Sourceforge isn’t any more the only one open source projects’ hoster.

Sometimes doing things via web apps is great. Everything is in one place: your browser. Even so, sometimes having everything in one place isn’t ideal. A browser crash could kill all of your work, not just one component, and it can be harder to keep your focus appropriately segmented if your tools are all mashed together. Here are a few great Mac (s aapl) applications that give you access to your web apps, but do so in nice, native software packages.

Propane

It’s a fine way to power a BBQ, but it’s also more than that. Propane is a new piece of beta software that does what I previously did using a Fluid browser instance. Specifically, it runs Campfire-based chatrooms, which are a popular tool for people who need to collaborate in real-time with a distributed team. I use Campfire rooms to coordinate with other writers at various blog sites where time and scheduling is a primary concern, but that’s just one possible use.

Like with a Fluid instance, Propane provides Campfire with the bare minimum of browser chrome, so that it does in fact look like a native OS X app. It also provides some nice bells and whistles that allow you to customize the how and why of notification sounds and messages, including Growl notifications. There’s also great tools for better file sharing, including automatic source detection when you drag content (text and images) from a Safari window into your active chatroom in Propane.

Mailplane

I’m not actively trying to rhyme these app names, it’s just working out that way. Gmail (s goog) is great, and Mail.app is nice enough, but I’d rather not use the two together if possible. I love Gmail’s web interface, but I’m not crazy about trying to manage my email activities in a browser window. Maybe that makes me old school, but I grew up on Outlook (s msft), and old habits die hard.

Mailplane delivers all the Gmail interface goodness with a nice, native app wrapper. Basically it, like Propane, is just a browser instance with some additional features specific to the web app in question that makes it easier to use. It’s those features that make the app worthwhile, though. Mailplane takes advantage of Gmail’s keyboard shortcuts to allow you to view and create new messages, reply, attach media, and more using convenient buttons located along the top of the app window. It also badges the app icon in your dock with the number of unread emails, and can notify you of new mail using sound and Growl.

Those with Google Apps and multiple accounts are also in luck, because it supports easy account switching and storage. There’s also an option to display an icon in the menu bar, including new mail count. You can try it out for free for a month, but it is a paid program, and will set you back $24.95 if you do decide to purchase.

Gdocsuploader

This is less an app and more of a handy little applet, but the single, focused service it provides is incredibly useful: a simple drag-and-drop interface for uploading documents to Google Docs. It may not seem like much, but it saves a lot of steps vs. the traditional method, which can quickly add up if you do most of your document editing in Google Docs, like I do.

All you have to do to use it is keep the app icon in your dock, and then drag any document onto the icon to upload it. It’ll prompt you once for your Google name and password, and afterward it’ll just work. If you prefer, opening the app will automatically take you to a file browser for selecting a file to upload manually.

None of the above apps does anything that you can’t do using the web, but they do offer time-saving and usability enhancements that you won’t necessarily get using only the corresponding app for each in a normal browser window. Just because web apps are often convenient and user-friendly doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be more so with a more solid connection to your desktop.

Have any tips on how to make web apps more native? Share them in the comments.

jqUploader is a jquery plugin that substitutes html file input fields with a flash-based file upload

jqUploader is a jquery plugin that substitutes html file input fields with a flash-based file upload widget, allowing to display a progressbar and percentage. It is designed to take most of its customization from the html code of your form directly – so you don’t have to do things twice . For instance, the maximum file size, if specified via html, will be recognized and used in the rich upload interface generated by jqUploader.

Download Version 1.0.2.2 (29 September 2007).

The plugin uses the form action attribute value (normally pointing to a server side script handling the upload and other data manipulations, and appends a variable “jqUploader=1″ so that the upload code is initiated when it sees that key/value is on the posted data.

From http://www.pixeline.be

Technical requirements & limitations

Tested successfully on Windows XP with FF2.0.0.4, Internet Explorer 6+ with Flash player V8+

Due to limitations in the flash player, the maximum allowed size is 100 Mo. Blame Macromediadobe

Flash Documentation:

Although Flash Player has no restriction on the size of files you can upload or download, the player officially supports uploads or downloads of up to 100 MB.

How to set it up ?

Step 1: The html form

Modern web development implies to make sure whatever you set up degrades gracefully whatever the user setup: PC, mobile phone, with or without javascript and flash plugin installed. The best way is therefore to start with the bare minimum: the html form.

Here is an example of a valid xhtml file upload form. Make sure you give it a unique id attribute, such as “myUploadForm”. Note the input field with name =”MAX_FILE_SIZE”. Even with javascript disabled, this field will tell the user before actually uploading the file that its size is too big. If javascript is available, jqUploader will use the MAX_FILE_SIZE value as size limitation.

Now, you need to indicate to jqUploader the element containing the file input field to convert to the rich flash UI alternative. This represents a changed compared to versions up to 1.0.1. jqUploader needs the containig element, not the file input field itself. This makes it easier to use the input’s label and form tag attributes values and content.

<form id="myUploadForm" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="flash_upload.php" method="POST">
<fieldset>
<legend>Your file</legend>
<ol>
<li>
<label for="example1">Choose a file to upload: </label>
<input name="MAX_FILE_SIZE" value="1048576" type="hidden" />
<input name="example1"  id="example1"  type="file" />
</li>
</ol>
</fieldset>
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Send" />
</form>

Step 2: The javascript

Make sure you include the 3 javascript files (in this order: jquery-latest.pack.js, swfobject.js and finally jquery.jqUploader.js) by putting the following code in your <head> tags. Place them wherever you want on your server, and do not forget to specify the path accordingly. In this example, they are sitting in the same folder as your html page.

<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-latest.pack.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="dependencies/swfobject.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.jqUploader.js"></script>

Step 3: make it yours

Now, you need to activate the script by telling which file input fields you would like to replace. This is made through the use of the jquery javascript framework, which makes javascript coding possible if you understand CSS better than javascript.

For example, the following code will replace the file input fields contained in the < li< element with.

Add this code inside your <head> tag:

$(document).ready(function(){
	$(".jqUploader").jqUploader({
		background:	"FFFFDF",
		barColor:	"64A9F6",
        allowedExt:     "jpg|JPG|jpeg|JPEG"
	});
});

Step 4: serverside processing

This file (specified by default using the form action attribute, should be able to perform the upload with or without javascript enabled. jqUploader, will automatically adds a variable to this script if javascript is present, so you can organize your serverside processing accordingly. Here is an example (flash_upload.php).

/*
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
jqUploader serverside example: (author : pixeline, http://www.pixeline.be)

when javascript is available, a variable is automatically created that you can use to dispatch all the possible actions

This file examplifies this usage: javascript available, or non available.

1/ a form is submitted
1.a javascript is off, so jquploader could not be used, therefore the file needs to be uploaded the old way
1.b javascript is on, so the file, by now is already uploaded and its filename is available in the $_POST array sent by the form

2/ a form is not submitted, and jqUploader is on
jqUploader flash file is calling home! process the upload.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

*/

$uploadDir = dirname(__FILE__) . '/files/';
$uploadFile = $uploadDir . basename($_FILES['Filedata']['name']);

if ($_POST['submit'] != '') {
    // 1. submitting the html form
    if (!isset($_GET['jqUploader'])) {
        // 1.a javascript off, we need to upload the file
        if (move_uploaded_file ($_FILES[0]['tmp_name'], $uploadFile)) {

            $html_body = '<h1>File upload error!</h1>';

When implementing a DAM, one of the questions that will come up is who will upload (aka import) asse

When implementing a DAM, one of the questions that will come up is who will upload (aka import) assets to the DAM with the metadata. Often, the case is uploading to the DAM will be a regular process with a stream of new assets. That is unless the organization stops producing new assets, limits the total number of assets in the DAM or is not using the DAM (aka another shelf baby).

The answer to who should do this depends on the following:

How complex or easy is the process to upload assets and metadata to the DAM?

Is the uploading process clearly defined?

Who will be trained to perform the upload task regularly?

Who is the best fit for consistent and methodical uploading of assets and metadata to the DAM?

What is the volume of assets to be uploaded regularly? (Will you need more than one person to upload assets to the DAM?)

How long does uploading assets and metadata take per asset? (Develop an average metric to use for scheduling purposes)

How often will the organization need to upload assets? (daily, weekly, monthly?)

How quickly will you need to upload these assets for your business needs? (Is this tied to any production needs or deadlines?)

Who is faster at uploading, better at uploading and/or cheaper for uploading (pick two)?

Someone within your organization?

Someone outside your organization?

The DAM vendor, if they offer this service?

Who has the time to do the uploading? What other job duties do they have? Will their schedule permit them to upload to the DAM in a timely fashion?

Who will communicate when assets and metadata are ready for uploading to the DAM?

Who supplies the assets? Who creates the metadata?

Is there a quality control check for uploads? Do you need one?

Who is responsible for linking the metadata with assets?

What happens after assets are uploaded to the DAM? Do people need to be notified when newly uploaded assets are available in the DAM? Is the DAM used as a centralized distribution point for assets?

Like any position in an organization, find the people with the qualifications necessary and the willingness to do the work. Typically, this position involves:

Data entry skills.

A mindset for working with data.

Positive attitude and ability to think constructively (no, you don’t want a robot).

Willingness to learn new things.

Technical savviness is a big plus.

Be sure the individuals working on the DAM understand:

What the job/tasks involve and what it does not.

The process or workflow.

This is not creative position, but rather a creative problem solving position involving data entry.

Communicate regularly. Listen to them when they have questions or suggestions since they be able to improve the process or even streamline it for all.

A few words of caution when picking the individuals who will do the uploading to the DAM: Do NOT randomly pick a person from your staff to do this task. If you don’t pick the ‘right person’ to do this task, not only do you risk the task not being done correctly (because they don’t get it or can’t wrap their head around it after training), but you also risk having a high rate of attrition and frustration until you find the ‘right person’ to do this task regularly. If the person did not intent to do this type of work (which often resembles data entry), they may be quite reluctant (particularly at first) to do this. Remember, no one is born with this knowledge nor mindset. Training is a must.

In order to get consistent results in uploading assets to a DAM, the easiest way is to have a finite group of trained and practiced individuals to upload all assets and metadata to the DAM. This will help:

Focus the accountability for all uploaded assets.

Limits the scope of issues that could occur.

Make it easier to resolve any issue before it becomes rampant or repetitive.

The smaller the group, the better trained the group can be (if all trained at the same time) and the more consistent the results will be in the DAM (if they all practice this regularly). If you do keep all the uploading within your organization, train a finite group rather than one individual in order to have a backup in case that one person is sick, on vacation or leaves the organization for any reason, particularly in today’s job market. I would not recommend giving every DAM user access to upload freely to the DAM, otherwise you risk correcting issues more frequently and this is often a recipe for a growing disaster of inconsistency. This task should be left to a select few DAM power users.

Who uploads assets to the DAM in your organization?

Wondering how to create a youtube video tutorial yourself? well it’s simple really. You just need the right tools to get started!

Video editing & recording software
To create a video you will need Video editing and recording software. There are multiple software packages to pick from but I edit and record my videos all with the same great software called Camtasia studio. this tool allows you to do screen recordings and can even be attached to certain windows! after you recorded something it is time to edit it. you need to safe and load the recording in your camtasia studio project, you can also add in pictures and music! when you are done putting everything in the right place you just produce the whole package as a new video! and you are done! it’s really as easy as that.

TIP
Photoshop is software to create and edit pictures. but you can create awesome designs with it too. I recommend using it when you want to state a little explanation or text inside of your video. safe your photoshop file as .png and load it in your camtasia project manager!

Where can I find this software, it’s not free!
Although illegal you can always download a torrent client. I use qtorrent aftwards you can search a torrent site for the software, like http://www.isohunt.com make sure you watch out for dangerous files that may harm your computer. on isohunt you can read comments about certain torrents. if stated that it contains viruses you better not download it!

September 2008. Rapidshare musste allerdings so handeln!

I have been having a Flickr account for a while now, but I just realized that they have an desktop application for uploading images. The cool thing about it is that it is for both Windows and Mac OS X. Not much to say about it, it has a simple interface. It looks the same on both Windows and Mac OS X and you basically just do the same thing you do if you were uploading via the web. It is pretty much the same look that is on the website. It is a really useful application and can really come in handy if you don’t feel like opening your browser and doing it from there.
