Me and Coffeh met for coffee today. We had a great time, enjoying the endless discussions of nothing and everything, from important things to less important things. Talking about things, we also discussed URGE, and to be exact we discussed the new gaming board that’s been posted on here. How we could addept it better to the game, make it a part of strategies instead of just a place for units and buildings (emplacements) to exist on.

We came up with a few and great ideas. The only thing we need to work on now, is a basic set of cards to game set this new gaming style. I hope that you will be here when we post the update on the look and style of URGE from the very core.

So here is a really really early idea of what the new field will look like. Both players using very same zones.
From your side you will always have: “Home”, “Battlefield”, “Red Zone” and the last part is “Invasion”.
The invasion area is also were your opponent keeps his General.

Will be able to tell you more once we play test this new game board style.

Hello everyone!

I’ve been sitting here thinking about Urge. How to make the rules better and evolve the game. Ofcourse at the same time Im working on several other game ideas. Coffeh isnt around right now, but I was thinking about making this an acctual developers blog. Urge beeing the collective name of our work, but having several games under that title. Urge beeing our trademark to bring them togehter.

That would also mean there could be activity on here about new and different games, ofcourse always keeping the main focus on the Urge Game. So what do you think? Should we show you more of our individual and gathered work? Or simply keep this to the Urge Game.

Hmm. Will have to discuss this further with Coffeh.

When Coffeh and me started designing this game, we wanted to create it with a theme that was easy to get sucked into. A theme well used in the world of videogames, World War 2. We had alot of ideas following this theme, famous quote cards that would effect your units powers. Expansions with units not seen in the acctual war (making us able to create more fictional units), Generals and so on. Resources were factories in the early version of the game, a concept that we’re once again looking into.

The first card that was designed for the game was a Flying Fortress. Since we cant post alot of info about the new rules or card design, here is the very first card design enjoy!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to give you all a small update. Redesigning a game and its mechanics. Takes time! We feelt that the battle system was completle wrong for what we wanted to achieve, it wasent a system were you’re actions would give consequences. Basicly you attacked with what you had, and that was it.
The game is also board oriented, which gives us a WHOLE NEW world to explore gaming wise. What can we do the board, should it be used in more ways then before, are certain cards now not needed?

As you may understand this takes time. We have a few great ideas in storage, we just need to figure out what works best for URGE. We still want it to focus on beeing a card game so that will still be in there. So updates will be coming now and then with new rules and game ideas.

I was in the shopping centre the other day having lunch and I noticed a woman who I thought was very beautiful.  She was alone and eating her lunch near where I was sitting and I had a sudden urge to go over to her and tell her how beautiful I thought she was.  Why would I do that?  Well for no other reason than to pay someone a compliment.  That is all.  No ulterior motive.  No hoping she would ask me to sit down and join her.  I’m happily married and I love my wife very much, so my intention was just to give a compliment, walk away and hopefully leave that woman with a smile on her face and a story to tell her friends.

This wasn’t the first time I have had this urge.  I would estimate that over the last few years I have had the same urge a dozen or so times and each time I have not followed through.  So why haven’t I enacted upon it?  I think the simple answer to that is because I am too embarrassed to do it.  If I put myself in her shoes for a second then this is probably what she is thinking.

“This creepy bloke approaches me, tells me I am beautiful and walks away.  He probably wants me to follow him and fall into his arms”.

That is so far from the truth but unfortunately I think that is what she would be thinking 9 times out of ten.  How good would it be to be able to go up to a complete stranger, pay them a compliment and walk away, expecting nothing in return?  Wouldn’t it make the world a better place?

I hear you asking, would I go up to a guy and tell him I thought he was good looking.  No way!  For two reasons.  1.  That. is just too creepy.  Dudes telling other dudes they are good looking just doesn’t happen unless you are on Brokeback Mountain.  2.  I don’t think dudes are good looking.  I think we are repulsive looking and I am yet to meet a dude who is attractive.  In fact I struggle to understand what chicks see in us and I can’t blame chicks for hooking up with each other!

The compliments don’t even have to be like my example.  You might compliment someone on something they are wearing, or for the way they are treating their kids, or for picking up rubbish off the ground thrown away by somebody else.  There are a million reasons you would give someone a compliment.  So why doesn’t it happen a lot more?

My question to you, loyal passengers on the McClane Train, would you go up to a complete stranger and give a compliment expecting nothing in return?   Have you done this and if so, what were the circumstances and more importantly, what was the reaction?  If you wouldn’t approach a complete stranger and give them a compliment, why not?  I’m keen to hear your thoughts.

And dont you forget it! And yes im fully aware of the design differences. Dont blame me for not having the original files. (Well you could since I was the one without a backup…)

Dec 9, 2009 A 49-YEAR-OLD paedophile, who said he had the urge to touch young girls twice a week, on Tuesday admitted to a series of molestations, including that of a one-year-old.

Salim Abdul Rahman would target seven- to nine-year-olds by pretending to ask for directions or offering them food before he molested them between March and September this year.

On Tuesday, the unemployed man admitted to six charges of molestation and one of illegal employment. Deputy Public Prosecutor Ruth Wong said Salim was arrested on Sept 25 after he had molested a seven-year-old girl in Yishun Central.

He had approached her at a void deck and pretended to ask for directions to another block.

When the girl said she was not sure, he grabbed her by the hand and took her to a staircase landing, where he molested her. He fled when he heard someone approaching.

In March, Salim was sitting outside his flat when he saw a woman walk past with a baby in her arm and her year-old daughter in tow. She carried on walking but soon realised her daughter was not behind her. She then saw Salim carrying the child before kissing her on the lips. She shouted at him and said he had no right to kiss the victim.

I raise my eyes and watch you from a distance. I want to get close but I feel like you’re unreachable. Paintings hang on the walls of my mind each one titled “Possibilities”. But is that all that they will be?

I linger in the realm of small conversation hanging on to each passing moment. I curse myself for thinking so foolishly of something that probably isn’t meant to be…or is it?

I see how you are knowing that the life I live and the life you live probably won’t match up at all. So I sit quietly but in my mind I hunger for your power. I want to match mine with yours but I fear that I will be consumed and transformed. I want to be tainted by you but I’m too cautious to truly cross over to such a dark and enticing state.

So I linger…

I watch as others come and go silently cursing each one for occupying a space that should be mine.

Just do it…

I can’t…no..I won’t…think don’t feel. You know that things could get complicated. There are a few major variables that could be negative….and yet

I don’t care…

But I should. I need to safe guard myself and irrational thinking is not going to help.

And yet….

I still crave that power…to be suspended in air not caring…doing as I please…

   I’m a relatively happy person. I have a good problem with a few problem, great friends, and a good education. My life is farther from perfect than most people’s are, but I’m fine with that. I’m happy and healthy.

   But I have the oddest urges. They aren’t normal, and sometimes they’re even scary. I don’t know why I have them, and they frighten me.

   I dream of being a drug addict and an alcoholic. I dream of murdering people and killing myself. I dream of being a prostitute and a rapist. I dream of being so fucking poor that I barely get enough food to eat.

   What’s most terrifying of all, however, is the fact that I found these dreams absolutely and undeniably beautiful. I want them to come true more than anything.

It’s been fourteen long years since Urge Overkill released it’s last album “Exit The Dragon”. As rumors float, Urge Overkill is presently working on their sixth studio album with no release date yet determined. If you’ve been out of the UO loop in the last 12 years it will not be the original trio but I am optimistic they’ll have not missed a beat with strong vocals from Kato & Roeser.

Urge Overkill made a huge impact in the early 90’s and hit the charts strong with the cover of Neil Diamond’s “Girl You’ll Be A Woman Soon” for the Soundtrack “Pulp Fiction“. Although being put on the map with the amount of airtime from the soundtrack, their 1993 album Saturation was shadowed by label changes but reviews were still in their favor. They continued their sound into 1995 with “Exit The Dragon” but ran into drug issues with drummer Balckie O which cut a tour short. Things between Roeser and Kato then heated as well which lead to “The Break” of UO shortly after.

During the break I had the opportunity to see Nash Kato solo promoting his album “Debutante”. He played in Saskatoon at Amigos just off Broadway to a mere empty venue but still a few followers of UO. A few years later Urge Overkill reunited and toured though Saskatoon for the first time in 2004. In my eye’s both were amazing shows as I will be a true follower of UO or any side projects Roeser or Kato are involved with.

I am not expecting anyone to drop everything for UO. Being form the generation I am from you will have an appreciation for the change in the music world that Urge Overkill was a part of. Keep your ears open for future releases.
