Hello, Poptropicans,

I have a few announcements to make regarding the future of this blog and Fierce Sky. No, I am not quitting, don’t get worried.

First off, I’d like to announce that I am now an author of the Poptropican People’s Blog! You may recognize this blog from either the PHB post or part of the 6.5k+ viewers of the site. I’m going to be posting some stuff both from this blog and some original stuff exclusively for the PPB. This does not mean in any way that I am quitting this blog!!! The PPB wanted some of the critically acclaimed content that is only on this site to be on there. (Yes, it is critically acclaimed, look at the comments and forum.) I am happy to be a poster on there, as I have been reading their blog for quite some time. This blog will still remain my personal and main Poptropica blog, of course.

So, moving on, after considering the possibilities and consequences that changing the web address bring, I have decided to keep this blog at the web address http://poptropicahelpblog.wordpress.com. I don’t feel it has done any harm to anyone, and this blog is still a Poptropica help blog. I don’t see any immediate need for a new URL at the time. I will only change it if there are either several complaints from users, or if any member of the PHB complains about the address. Neither of those have happened as of yet. If you have a decision-changing reason for me to change the address, and lose all my previous statistics and probably some of you frequent viewers, then please comment on this post, as I appreciate all your comments.

First of all, I’d like to apologize for the lack of posting this weekend. I took a mini-vacation, and had no access to the internet during this time. If you posted a comment between Friday and Sunday, your comment was heard, I just haven’t been around to moderate them. (Yes, I’m referring to you, Cool Wing and Smockers.)

So, here comes the long post!

Before we start, I’d like to point something out. Fierce Sky’s Poptropica Blog has had visitors from every continent, aside from Antarctica. Yes, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa! Thanks to all of your for visiting my blog, and I’m happy with all your feedback.

So, first off, the latest (and one of the greatest in a while) Poptropica Creators’ Blog post. This one is titled ‘Did someone say, “Counterfeit Island?”’ Yes. Another new island update!

After my quick break at the local cafe, I explored more of this new island to discover the people here calling it “Counterfeit Island.” What an intriguing name, I wonder why they call it that? I guess I’ll just have to explore some more to find out.

This is most likely connected to the previous Creators’ Blog post, as Comic Kid mentions how he explores “more of this new island”. I think that “Counterfeit Island” will be the working title, much like how Nabooti Island was called Create Your Own Adventure Island for a while. Plus, I don’t think everyone who plays Poptropica knows what counterfeit means, or how to pronounce or spell it. As a little side note, the picture’s title is “little_fish”. I don’t know if the name has to do with anything named at all, as the boat has the name “RIBICA” on it. I am not sure what “Ribica” means, but it is probably the name of the fishing boat. How this is connected to the JAZZ Cafe, I am not sure.

Secondly, I would like to thank all the awesome people on the Poptropica Help Forums (http://www.thephf.com) for letting others know about my blog. I appreciate all your positive feedback, and it’s nice to see so many people I admire complimenting my little blog. I’ll get back to the discussion on the PHF later, but I appreciate all your feedback. Also, thanks to all of you that have taken part in my poll so far. I would like as many of your opinions as I can, so if you haven’t voted already, please vote!

Next, I’ve heard some things about Smockers having some issues with the rest of the PHF team. I hope that the issue can be sorted out, as Smockers is an awesome PHB contributor, and gave good feedback on this site as well. Let us all hope that whatever issues are existing will be sorted out, and that things are put back to normal on the PHB.

And now, to get back to the PHF post. The issue mentioned in the post about my blog was about the name. Upon me reviving this blog in October, I realize that calling this blog “Fierce Sky’s Poptropica Help Blog” might reach some conflict due to the name change before reviving it. That is why I changed the blog’s name to just “Fierce Sky’s Poptropica Blog”. Even after changing it, a poster by the name of Incredible Fish posted the forum post that gave this blog a few extra hits and comments and feedback, which I DO thank him for.

First off, thanks for the first comment. Other forum posts by other posters also mentioned how the name was a little weird. I already addressed the issue of the name there, but it did strike up an issue that I’ve been wondering myself since reviving the blog. Should I change the name?

Now, as I do with all my arguments, I try to bring up both possible sides of the argument, and to see which is the better choice.

So, if I WERE to change the name, to something like fiercesky.wordpress.com (Do NOT steal that name!), then the issue would be changed, and it wouldn’t seem misleading anymore. That would resolve the issue at hand. But, if I did change the web address, I would have to start a new blog from scratch, and import all my older posts to there. With that change, all my hits and statistics would disappear. After reaching the landmark of 1,000, I sure wouldn’t want to have to start that all over again.

If I weren’t to change the name, all the current stats would remain, but the URL would still be http://poptropicahelpblog.wordpress.com, which still causes conflict due to the other blog with a similar name. Right now, I am still debating the choices for myself. I won’t do a poll for the time being, as I feel I need to think it more over myself, but I do still appreciate your feedback.

If you choose to comment on this post, I always do appreciate your feedback on the Poptropica Creators’ Blog posts, but I would also like your opinion on the URL conflict. Should I change the web address, or not? And, why?

Many internet marketers struggle with the daily task of finding leads(having a potential customer fill in an email form requesting their email address, or their zip code, or address for additional promotional offers to be sent to them), or a sale(having a customer complete an offer, by giving their credit card details or some other means of purchasing a product or an item).

As an affiliate the sole task is to bring traffic to publishers, and you get a certain percentage of the proceeds, either on a per lead, per sale or revenue share basis.

Now imagine the scenario,, Find Email, you have created a website specifically for this purpose, you designed it, did all the SEO(search engine optimisation) so it is ready for the search engines, and has all your keywords evenly distributed,, Find Email, and your niche is targetted.

You run an adwords campaign, aimed at targetting, Find Email, that niche, Find Email, . Potential leads or customers see your ad with your adcopy and landing page, on google, or the Yahoo Publisher Network, or MSN Adcenter, they land on your page, are impressed with the product, and proceed to complete a sale or give their details for, Find Email, a lead.
This is the normal scenario for many affiliate, Find Email, marketers.

However there is a big snag in the pipeline, almost all publishers when using banners also place a copy of their url in the banner, so any potential customer,, Find Email,,, Find Email, Find Email, can if they want to simply just, Find Email, type the direct address of the product and get on the home, Find Email, page of the publisher, regardless of the work that, Find Email, you as the affiliate put in to, Find Email, bring that product to their attention, if that happens you have in effect lost time and money.

A second way many affiliates loose commissions is by simply having the direct url complete with their affiliate id appended somewhere in the url(usually at the end), all a buyer has to do is type in the url omitting your affiliate id, and they can still get to the landing page, order the product, or complete a lead and you as the affiliate would receive no compensation for the work you have put in bringing that potential customer to the publisher.

This is where url shorteners, or url redirection comes in as the potential customer never sees the direct landing page, or your affiliate id inorder to go directly to the publisher, and hence denying you of your commissions.

There are several types of url redirections, some may require registration, some may not and you can easily test out the different types to see which one would, Find Email, suit your traffic, some may have a delay of a few seconds in other to show some ads before going direct to the page of the url redirection, others simply go direct to the shortened url.
Once a shortened, Find Email, url, or url redirection is created, this unfortunately is not the end, as often webmasters redirect shortened urls continually so constant checks must be made to see if the shortened url is still active, and your shortened or redirect url has not been sent elsewhere.

Ca y est ;  vous avez convaincu votre boss ; il est Ok pour une page facebook ! Voici les étapes suivantes :

1. Créer la page. Pas si simple que cela en fait.

- Il faut aller tout en bas à droite d’une page facebok et cliquer sur le lien “Publicité” puis sur “Pages”.

- Cliquez sur “Créer une page”.

Ici se dresse un premier ecueil : il faut choisir une catégorie de page. Anodin ? pas vraiment. Car le nombre d’items dans la partie “Local” incite à un créateur de choisir cette catégorie. Erreur ! en choisissant une catégorie local, vous aurez moins de possibilités sur votre page d’écrire des textes de présentation.

Choisissez la catégorie “Artiste, groupe ou personnalité”, et ne sélectionnez pas de sous-catégorie . Ne vous souciez pas de cette classification “artiste”, elle n’apparaîtra pas sur votre page.

Le seul avantage de cette catégorie est de pouvoir avoir plus de champs textes sur votre page afin de décrire votre activité et vos produits.

Si vous choisissez “Local”, vous aurez très peu de possibilité d’insérer du texte.

Attention car une fois choisie la catégorie, impossible d’en changer !

2. Mettre un premier contenu sur votre page : insérez sur votre page pour bien débuter :

- le logo de votre entreprise : format 200 px de large

- la courte description de votre activité et le lien vers votre site web.

Vous pouvez faire un lien RSS depuis votre site web. Quand il y aura une nouvelle actualité sur votre site, elle sera publiée sur facebook.

- au moins quelques actualités les plus récentes ou les plus importantes

- un petit album photo si vous avez ça en stock

- ajouter les pages de vos partenaires sur votre page. Pour cela, allez chercher les pages de vos partenaires et cliquez sur  “ajouter à mes pages favorites”.

- un petit message sur votre mur d’annonce  de type “Suivez l’actu de X sur facebook : devenez Fan !”

Voilà, une fois que vous avez fait ces 2 étapes, vous avez la base, vous pouvez donc publier votre page pour la rendre visible de tous.

Ajoutez cette adresse dans vos favoris : http://www.facebook.com/pages/manage/

Vous retrouverez grâce à ce lien toutes les pages que vous gérez, qu’elles soient publiées ou non.

3. Une autre étape très importante mais que vous ne pourrez pas faire immédiatement : Créer l’URL friendly (“username”) de votre page : cela est essentiel car non seulement cela permettra de communiquer sur une URL courte et facilement mémorisable, mais cela vous permet de “réserver” le nom de votre marque sur facebook, ce qui n’est pas négligeable !

Attention, car il faut attendre d’avoir un certain nombre de fans (plus de 100 actuellement) pour pourvoir créer cette adresse directe.

Pour créer l’adresse de votre page, cliquez ici : http://www.facebook.com/username/ puis sur “Définissez un nom d’usage pour vos pages”

NB : si vous avez une page  fan “Adobe”, quelqu’un d’autre pourra créer une page exactement du même nom. Autant si vous avez sélectionné www.facebook/Adobe, plus personne ne pourra prendre cette adresse, ce qui est logique.

Petite restriction : vous ne pouvez pas créer une adresse avec moins de 5 caractères.

So, like, I haven’t written for a few days because on Monday I tried to blackra1n my iPod touch which went mega fail, and then after waiting a day for our months’ wireless broadband speed to reset again, I had to download the iPod touch/iPhone 3.1.2 OS update again to restore my iPod, and after that my iPod was all, you guessed it, – reset! And empty

So I had to resync it, re-add all my songs, apps, photos, and when I added the WordPress app which is now called WordPress 2, it wouldn’t log me in properly, coming up with the annoying message; Communication Error: Bad Username or Password. I’m sure I am not the only one that got stuck with that problem, I’m sure many are probly still stuck on it. I however always end up googling things I don’t know and so I ended up finding a site that informed me: the WordPress app tells you to type your URL in the format: example.wordpress.com, however you need to write the format as www.example.wordpress.com and then it works fine

So here I am at long last

I’ve also been rather sick since Wednesday, think it’s the common cold, had the ghastliest throat the other day (Wednesday)! not fun. I’m seeing better days at the moment though, hoping I’ll be fine tomorrow finally.

Speaking of better days, the sun has been shining beautifully lately:) my fave. Hopefully i’ll be able to catch the rays while I’m not sick before they go away again, I can’t get over how amazing summer, sun and flawlessly clear blue skies are
