Victorie importanta
UTA a obtinut sambata o victorie in compania formatiei CS Otopeni.

According to wikipedia there are about four or five big players in the line of talent agencies in the States.

Creative Artists Agency (CAA)
International Creative Management (ICM)
United Talent Agency (UTA)
William Morris Endeavor Entertainment (WME Entertainment)

The question is; how do we get their attention? Do I have to send out my “Burt Reynolds”-picture again, or is there anybody out there who knows an agent who would be perfect for us?

Answers

There are 36 possible characters, so (a) possibilites with repeating characters, and (b) possibilities. Note:

There are four aces and 16 possible 10-point cards in a deck. Therefore, the probability of drawing an ace followed by a 10-point card is . The probability of drawing the 10-point card first and then the ace is , so the probability is the same.

Since each penny flip is an independent event, the probabilities are also independent. No matter how many heads come up in a row, the probability that the next flip will come up heads is still .

To find an inverse of a function (assuming that an inverse can be found), the way that is usually taught is to swap the x and y variables and solve for y. A better way, especially if the equation is already in function notation, is to remember that , and solve for .

Our color palette shifts as should our polishes. Gone for the winter are OPI’s Pompeii Purple and its frosty friends. In its place glossy opaques in warm jewel tones to December’s sparkly reds. I have added a few Essie polishes to my repetoire. The crown jewel being “Mint Candy Apple” a shade featured in the new mini set by the brand. I took advantage of an Ulta buy 2 get 1 free and a coupon for $3.50 off. So instead of $24 total I scored all 3 for $12.50. Essie is a great brand with great coverage and color variety. If you are opting for a plain nail their pink tinted clear “Pink Glove Service” is a hands down fave. It also erradicates any yellowing your nails may have. What is your seasonal fave?

I don’t expect y’all to construct a complicated proof from scratch, but I do think it’s important that you be (re)acquainted with basic geometric properties.

To give you some help, here are the basic algebraic and geometric properties.

Also, this packet reviews trigonometric ratios. There are a lot of different mnemonic devices for remembering the order of things (SOH-CAH-TOA is one), but one I like because my students seem to be able to remember it better is “Some Old Hippie Caught Another Hippie Tripping On Acid.” Either way, we have

Last night was one of the funnest unexpected drunken nights I’ve had in a long while.
But we’ll start at 4 PM.

I looked so fly- someone should’ve been taking pictures of me! Just kidding. Though I did get some nice compliments on my outfit throughout the day though. It was Wednesday, meaning interview at JC Penny. I sat outside the JC Penny entrance for a good 20 minutes getting more and more nervous the more I thought about it. I had my liprings out, my hair done, and I was preparing myself for questions that might’ve been asked although I knew once I got in there, I would forget it all.

I sat outside in a rounded chair waiting to be called back by Deborah. The Manager. There was a man before me, early 20’s I’d say. Wearing jeans, a button up, and some brand name skate shoes. There was a woman after me, I’d also say early 20’s she wore this long bold printed skirt with many colors, some disgusting UGG boots and black framed glasses. Her long hair seemed to be unbrushed and uncared for. When Deborah came out, she told us that she was running about 15 minutes late, and this ugly bitch with the UGG boots was on her sidekick the whole time. What a shame. Fuck the others. I was up and I sat in the chair in her office. It wasn’t really an interview. I don’t know what it was. It was real short, only about 5 minutes I’d say. She was friendly, very kind. She asked me if it had been my first job. I responded, “My first interview, yes.” And she asked me “What is the most important thing about a store like JC Penny.” Something like that.. My response was “Making the customers feel welcome and comfortable.” She told me I had a good answer. She was writing down all these quick notes next to the schedule, and she commented on how she was worried about how my schedule looks, escpecially since I’ll be coming from Holiday. Not good. And then this sly women Deborah asked me this little tricky question. “What is a question you would ask me, about yourself.” I was blank. I looked her in the eyes and told her the honest truth, “I don’t know.” It was quiet for about 5 seconds and then I said the plain jane thing to say. “what my personality is like?” She told me I had a great smile, and I was vibrant. Whew. It wasn’t too bad. I guess. And that was that. I waited for Nick to get off of work and we went back to his place. I had wanted to go to the Vetrans day performance up at the Huntsman Center, but I had a feeling he was either not going to like it or we would some how end up not going at all. Nick, that slow poke didn’t listen to be when I said we should be leaving. We got to 3900 trax close to 7. That’s when it was going to start. I bought Nick’s trax ticket and we walked down the platform, and soon the train arrived. Everything was pretty smooth and we got off on Galivan Plaza to switch trains to the University. We waited a bit and when we got on I was somewhat unsure of what stop to get off at. It was one or 2 stops past the stadium though. I don’t know what the hell was going on, but the driver didn’t announce what stops we were approaching. So when the train stopped I had no idea if we were at a stop light or at a trax station. I attempted to open the door when we stopped at a trax stop. But the doors didn’t open? The train goes some more and stops, we were really at a trax stop. We went to another door and tried to open that. Still didn’t open and the train only stopped for not even five seconds, I swear. Well, fuck my life. I felt horrible and it was a complete fail. I didn’t even want to go anymore, it was already 8 when we got to the end of the University line. We said fuck it and headed back to Galivan Plaza. Nick said “I should call Poet and see if we can toke on some hookah.” “YES!” My response was. Even though Nick wanted to avoid being near the lounge when we got off at Galivan plaza to switch trains in the first place. Poet says we can come in, and so we walked right on through when he saw us. We said our Hellos and sat down at the bar to toke on some Hookah. I’ve missed that place! Very important memories for me have been held there, or on the nights that we were there. Nick ordered a Redbull and Vodka and we thought that was going to be it for drinks, and we would head out. No sir. There was a fly ass business guy sitting next to me I shook his hand, but I was too wasted to remember his name. I thought it was James, but everyone else was calling him Stacey. After we finished our first beverage, Poet gave us a free refill. After we were finished with that, Stacey says “I want to buy everyone here, a round of shots.” WOW! I had Jose Cuervo tequila- Gold. Nick had Crown. I drank that down and I was A OK! After that, there was another round of shots by Stacey, I think? Nick and I had crown royal. DRUNK. After that, Poet gave us a Pina Colada, and it was delicious! A slurpie with Alcohol was it. When I finished that off, Poet gave us one more shot. On him. Tequila shot with lime and salt. I swear, that’s my favorite kind of shot now. Best I’ve ever had. The Tequila was nasty, real strong but I had salt on my lips so I licked that up and I took a good bite out of my lime, had some more salt and it was amazing. About 6 shots for Nick and I. It was only 10 PM when it really should’ve been 4AM.Wednesday night, smashed on Veterans day. It really was an amazing night after all! I wish the night hadn’t ended so soon, but it did and we were wasted. It really was a good thing we took trax though. It gave us a good 30 minutes to try and sober up. We wanted to end the night with something else, but when it came to that time. We both said fuck it and agreed we were too drunk and too tired and all we wanted was sleep. I was almost home when I decided it was time to puke. Wow, that was a lot of alcohol that came up. Good thing I didn’t have much to eat for lunch and the evening! (hah) I felt better, but not for long because once I got home. I just needed to pass the fuck out. WHAT A FUN NIGHT. It’s a shame that Poet will no longer be working there, and Max quit a while back. Getting up this morning wasn’t too bad. I was just extremely tired is all. I’ve been blogging for a good 45 minutes now. I am off to bed. For sure. Nick is currently out getting free drinks with Stacey at the piano bar I’ve been wanting to go to for a bit now! Keys on main. That lucky stunna. Can I be 21 now?

Goodnight.

Am aproape investit în “the man who mistook his wife for a hat” (oliver…s…something something)

Tante: “etajul 3 puiu”. Eu: a.

Dai 200 de mii şi e all you can drink.

Well, thank God that’s over with. The Archaeology test I’ve been sweating over has been vanquished. I think I did a pretty darn good job on it, so hopefully the good doctor will see it the same way.

Big weekend ahead! Jenn and I are going to register at Home Depot, which will be our last one on the list. After that, we’re gonna go eat with Misty and then take a look at some furniture at the furniture store over in the Highlands. What is it, Ethan Allen? The one by PF Chang’s, whatever it is. Anyway, tomorrow is All Hallow’s Eve. Along with the el cheapo masquerade we’re gonna enjoy with the fam and some friends tomorrow night, I’ve volunteered my car as part of the church’s Trunk or Treat party tomorrow afternoon. If you’ve never heard of this, basically church members line up their cars in the parking lot, decorate ‘em all spiffy, and the kids go around trickrtreatin’ for candy from the trunks. It’s meant to be a super-safe way for the kiddos to enjoy Halloween without worrying about evil folks out there in the world. Should be a lot of fun. I heard through the grapevine that everyone’s doing a fall/harvest theme with their vehicles. I’m like, UM WUT!? I’m so turning the trunk of my car into a monster mouth. Rawr! Happy Halloween!

Had a meeting yesterday all morning at the PDC. Between that and having trouble registering for my Spring classes, I obviously ran out of time and wasn’t able to blog. Sorry about that.

I have an exam today in Archaeology, a class that I’m actually not doing well in at all. I’ve been studying a lot, and I have a nice list of definitions to study all day today, or at least as much as I possibly can. There’s most likely going to be some interruptions… there pretty much always is when I’m really needing to do some studying during the day. I guess that’s what’s gonna happen when you try to do this sort of thing during your down time at work. Duh.

This weekend’s the Halloween party. I’m considerably more excited than I was a couple days ago, because Jenn decided to buy us masks. We were struggling with figuring out what to do, because we didn’t really want to spend a lot of money on Halloween this year. But Jenn was able to buy our masks for a grand total of less than 10 bucks, which is awesome. Still not entirely sure what I’ll be wearing with it. I might go for a slight twist on an old-timey gangster, complete with a “tommy gun,” but we’ll see what I decide to do. It’s supposed to be nice and cool that evening, so I’ll be comfortable wearing long sleeves for once.

This is an invitation to pray, a call to pray, and a plea to pray…would you be willing to Pause & Pray every Thursday for Texas campuses, students, and BSM staff?

Focus Hope Weekend – UMHB:

The University of Mary-Hardin Baylor BSM invited two organizations to partner with them to provide a special event for the Miller Heights community. Miller Heights Baptist Church and Hope for the Hungry have an on-going outreach to this neighborhood. They wanted to enhance their work and provide a setting where they were able to focus on relationships with children and families.

The Miller Heights Baptist youth group members paired up with members of the UMHB softball team to do neighborhood trash pick-up and to personally invite families to have lunch and play games with the UMHB BSM. They had enough students (including students participating in the upcoming Miss UMHB Pageant) that they could offer a high level of individual attention to their younger guests (and some of the older ones, too). The youth minister from MHBC shared about the good news of Jesus and several children picked up Bibles for their families. There was enough food to have and to share, and they played and played!

Jena Coulson, Campus Missionary at UMHB reflects on the impact of the Focus Hope Weekend.
“Students left thinking, ‘WOW! What a day! We got to make a difference in the lives of some neighborhood children.’ My hope is the impact would be rooted much deeper in the fact that choosing to make a difference for Christ is more than a one day event. I hope they realize, they can chose to a lifestyle of making a difference,” Coulson said.

My dream vacation would… be Hawaii.
The last book I read was… Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath
You ought to see… the UTA BSM leadership team reaching out to the campus with passion and commitment. I’m so proud of the team.
It’s hard to believe, but… you can buy 400 tacos for just about $200 from Taco Bell.
I have seen God work this semester by… seeing a student come to Christ at our Fall Retreat.

From The Hollywood Reporter

Jessy Schram and Kevin Dunn are on board for Fox’s action drama “Unstoppable,” joining Denzel Washington, Chris Pine and Rosario Dawson.

Tony Scott is directing the Mark Bomback-scripted film about the desperate efforts of a veteran engineer and novice conductor to stop a train laden with toxic cargo speeding out of control toward a nearby city.

Schram will play the estranged wife of Pine’s character. Dawson will take on the role of a train dispatcher helping the men via radio, and Dunn will play her boss.

Julie Yorn is producing with Scott and Mimi Rogers; Chris Ciaffa is an executive producer.

The project is scheduled to begin production in the fall in Pittsburgh.

Schram, repped by UTA and Kritzer Levine Wilkins Griffin Entertainment, had recurring roles on NBC’s “Life” and the CW’s “Veronica Mars.

So you’ve written your script. What next? Get it out there of course and hopefully make a sale

So you’ve written your script. What next? Get it out there of course and hopefully make a sale. The first rule you need to remember is to educate yourself so your efforts meet the market. Having said that don’t try to chase the market, but don’t ignore it either.

Do you know that 50% of movie goers are aged 16 – 24? Yep, for boys that means “Transformers”, for girls that means the “Ugly Truth” with a not so ugly lead male.

Then consider the 24 – 36 year old female audience who go to the movies without men. Think “Sex In The City” and “Mamma Mia”. Where are the men? Apparently we don’t go to the movies enough to warrant statistics.

Did you know that studios rely on about 60 – 70% of their box office from overseas markets?

You may have noticed the dire state of the spec script market lately. A few studios such as Universal and Sony have already used up their development funds for the entire year, or have had them removed to constrain their budgets. Some producers have purchased various projects for six figure amounts from their discretionary funds.

What genres have sold this year (2009) so far?

Comedies (31%)

Thriller (27%)

Action (19%)

Drama (11%)

Sci-fi/ Fantasy (6%)

How many scripts did key buyers purchase this year (2009) to date?

Sony (5)

Universal (5)

Warner Bros (5)

Dreamworks (3)

Paramount (3)

Who were the key sellers?

CAA (12/ 32 – 38%)

ICM (7/28 – 25%)

UTA (10/28 – 36%)

WMA – (8/17 – 47%)

WME – (2/17 – 12%)

Benderspink (3/10 – 33%) – Manager

These numbers are depressingly low. This means that Endeavour (prior to merging with William Morris) and Gersh sold less than 10 scripts each for the entire year. The other key agencies didn’t fare much better. However, know that through destruction comes reconstruction, so things will improve in 2010. Why so serious?

Of the 366 overall spec scripts that went out wide, 17 (5%) sold. February, March and May were particularly busy months with 10 scripts sold in each, to non-studio buyers. However, the desert that is the current spec script market has worsened in the second half of the year. Only 2 of the 140 scripts that went out wide sold, one in May and one in June. That’s a measly 1.4%. So, if your script goes out wide today, don’t expect a sale. Expect an introduction to create a buzz for yourself.

You know the drill…

Go forth and write my pretties… but don’t expect a sale in 2009.

Transformations A transformation is a change in the position, size, or shape of a figure. The origin

Transformations
A transformation is a change in the position, size, or shape of a figure. The original shape is called the preimage, and the resulting shape is called the image. There are four types of transformations:

Translation (slide) – all of the coordinates move the same distance in the same direction

Reflection (flip) – each point and its image are the same distance from the line of reflection

Across the x-axis: the x-coordinate stays the same, the y-coordinate changes sign. .

Across the y-axis: the y-coordinate stays the same, the x-coordinate changes sign.

Across the line : the coordinates trade places.

Rotation (turn) – each point and its image are the same distance from the point of rotation

90° about the origin:

180° about the origin:

Dilation (size) – if centered about the origin, multiply each coordinate by the scale factor

Linear Functions
A function is a rule that is applied to an independent variable. The most common form of this is called the slope-intercept form of a line: , where is the slope and is the y-intercept. Another form is the point-slope form: .

Slope (also called rate of change) is the ratio of the difference in the y-values to the difference in the x-values.

Direct and Inverse Variation
A related type of function is variation. Direct variation is a linear equation of the form : x and y both increase or both decrease. Inverse variation is a nonlinear relationship of the form : x and y move in opposite directions. In both cases, is the constant of variation.

Vertical Asymptotes
Vertical asymptotes are boundaries on rational functions at points where the function is undefined. Generally, to find a vertical asymptote, evaluate the denominator of the function to find out where/if it can be equal to zero. Whenever a function evaluates to , you have a “hole”. As the function gets closer and closer to the vertical asymptote, its value becomes more and more extreme. It does not behave this way around a hole.

Discriminants
Discriminants are an indicator of whether a quadratic function will have imaginary roots or zeros. If you’ll recall, for a quadratic equation of the form , the quadratic formula is . The discriminant is the middle part: .

If this is less than zero, then the equation will have imaginary roots, and the graph does not cross the x-axis.

If it is equal to zero, the equation will have one solution, which is where the graph touches the x-axis.

If it is greater than zero, the equation will have two real roots, where the graph crosses the x-axis.

Ever heard about William Kidd? He was such a dingbat. Dude was contracted to go hunt pirates in the Indian Ocean, ended up doing some pirating himself, let himself get busted, and was hanged. They even left his body hanging out over the harbor as a reminder to other pirates. There’s a theory that he kinda got screwed by the system and was set up, but I’m not really sure about that. He shouldn’t have raided a Mughal ship (the Mughals were buddies with the East India Company) if he was really sailing for the glory of England. Dummy.

Okay, sorry about that. We watched a DVD about Kidd in Pirates of the Caribbean last night. It was entertaining, but Kidd’s stupidity just cracks me up. Also, the narrator pronounced things funny. Madagassker.

Also, last night was the second night of informative speeches in my Business Communications class. Since I got mine out of the way the first night, I now have to sit through three more nights of speeches. No big deal though, most of them are pretty cool. Though last night, even though the teacher told them not to, they were all bringing in their Powerpoints in .pptx format, not .ppt. For some reason, he won’t download the Microsoft Compatibility Pack to his laptop, so they couldn’t use his with the projector for their presentations. Well, guess who had the laptop that COULD do this?

/me raises hand

So I volunteered my laptop for the majority of the class. It was certainly no big deal, I was happy to help. And everyone loved my wallpaper when it popped up on the screen:

Tonight’s Bible Study at Laura’s, and I’m trying to decide if I want to skip class and get there on time, or rush out after class and get there late. Not sure yet, prob’ly won’t decide until the last minute. Heh.
