Allen Millyard's amazing Dodge Viper engined motorcycle

Allen Millyard is one the best custom motorcycle builders in the UK, with a variety of one-off motorbikes, most featuring multi-cylinder engines like V8/V12 Kawasakis, to his credit.

His latest amazing creation made its debut at the UK International Motorcycle Show, which opened today, Friday 27th November 2009.

The Millyard Viper V10 features an engine from the Dodge Viper car, which Allen sourced from e-bay for £5000. The 500bhp motor transmits its torquey power via a two-speed auto gearbox to the rear wheel.  Allen made the entire chassis in his garage, with the front forks featuring Vauxhall Carlton damper units and Hagon springs. Six pot calipers, plus AP Lockheed front disc brakes help slow this 630kgs heavy machine.

But the weight of the bike, and the lack of fairing hasn’t blunted the performance. A recent test at Bruntingthorpe saw the Millyard V10 Viper special hit 207mph, making this arguably the fastest road legal, unfaired motorcycle in the UK. Allen’s special has passed the government SVA vehicle inspection, so it is taxed and insured for road use.

The bike has been ridden at high speed by a professional test rider, who was impressed with the bike’s sheer torque and its stability. The plan is to take the bike to Bonneville to set an ultimate top speed of perhaps 250mph. Lateral thinking engineer Millyard is also seriously considering a limited production run of the Viper V10 machine.

“Everything’s been designed in my head on this bike,” said Allen, ” but I want to build a pre-production prototype and do some proper design drawings, so there’s a kind of template to work from. We could make maybe ten bikes to individual owner specifications.”

Reaction at the UK’s annual motorcycle show, held at the NEC near Birmingham, was very positive, with many bikers commenting that Millyard’s V10, the Norton Commando launch and the new BMW six cylinder concept bike, were the main highlights of the event.

Dacă vă imaginaţi că se poate pune fizic un motor V8 sau V10 pe o Dacia Logan, atunci aţi greşit clasa, nu avem lecţii despre alchimie. Dar vă putem spune cum se poate face Logan-ul să murmure ca un supercar, aducându-şi şoferul în pragul extazului. Este o metodă foarte simplă, gadgetul din imaginea din dreapta se inserează în locaşul brichetei şi în rest face toate treaba. De fapt “minunea” este un modulator FM, care emite către aparatul radio sunetul unui motor V8 sau V10, la alegere.

Cei care au produs acest gadget spun însă că are un modul de detectare a turaţiilor şi că va “cânta” doar după cum îi dictează pedala de acceleraţie. Dacă merge însă pentru acest VW Polo, evidenţiat în clipul ataşat, atunci cu siguranţă merge şi pe un Logan 1.6 16v. Iar partea cu adevărat senzaţională este că această invenţie costă doar 39.99$. Probabil cel care o va aduce în Vitan va da lovitura anului!

O carro conceito apresentado pela Ford em 2004, foi baseado no original Shelby Cobra desenvolvido em 1964.

O chassi foi fundamentado no Ford GT, com poucas modificações.

Seu motor é V10 capaz de produzir 605 cavalos e torque de 5.500 rpm, sendo um dos mais poderosos motores já construídos pela Ford.

E segundo a Ford ele é capaz de chegar aos 298 km/h, porém é limitado eletronicamente em 160 km/h.

Tem quem não goste de ter carros conceito em sua coleção, mas podemos dizer que Shelby Cobra é uma exceção.

Perfect ride height on this one.

We think the R8 V10 (and its V8 “little” brother) is great, by the way. One might make the argument that its reputation has lost a bit of its luster as of late (in the face of stiff competition and an increasingly jaded and ADD audience), but we feel it deserves a vigorous defense. No, it’s not the F430 Scuderia, but quite frankly, we think that comparison is stupid- the latter car also costs nearly twice as much. We place a high premium on credibility here, and when you have race car drivers like Randy Pobst singing the R8’s praises, well- we’re convinced.

I’ve seen this video for the first time following the recommendation of www.relaxati-va.ro

No Tokyo Motor Show 2009 (Salão do Automóvel do Japão) esta sendo lançado oficialmente o Lexus LFA. Depois de quase 5 anos de exaustivos testes e inúmero protótipos, parece que este Lexus (Marca subsidiária Toyota nos EUA) vai honrar a linha de superesportivos puro-sangue da Toyota, que teve como fundador o Toyota 2000GT da década de 60.

Os jornalistas automotivos que testaram o LFA estão rasgando elogios sobre ele, algo que há muito tempo não vejo.

O motor V10 de 4,8 litros e desenvolvido junto com a Yamaha, esta localizado na dianteira. Gera 600cv a 8.700 rpm (0 a 100 km/h em 3,7 segundos e máxima de 323 km/h), torque de 48,9 m.kgf. e a tração é traseira. Poderia dizer que o belo som que sai pelos escapamentos é uma mistura de Lamborghini Gallardo com Porsche Carrera GT.

O peso do LFA é de 1.480 kg, baixo, como deve ser um verdadeiro esportivo, e possui a estrutura da cabine em fibra de carbono. Difusor traseiro, fundo plano e aerofólio embutido móvel formam os elementos aerodinâmicos do veículo.

Infelizmente serão fabricadas apenas 500 unidades, o que o tornará um carro exclusivo e não sendo exatamente um substituto do Toyota Supra. Mas a Toyota estava devendo um grande esportivo desde 1998 nos EUA e 2002 no Japão (Anos em que a Toyota suspendeu a importação e fabricação do Supra nos respectivos países citados).

Decent grafted – Sporty trim business

Even this appearance. Sporty, but still elegant. At the front on the wide black-guards: the RS6 logo. To provide enough air, the inlets in the front have been enlarged. The fog light now sits alongside the Xenon headlights. This benefits the air flow in the front apron, which was also newly designed.

Together with the wider fenders and the daytime running lights, consisting of ten Led’s, the RS6 announces himself very present in the rear-view mirror of each left-track blocker. In order to save weight, the front fenders and the engine hood are made of aluminium.

Also, the side view is dynamic. Apart from the sporting side, the citizens of Ingolstadt tear with standard 19-inch, optional with 20-inch aluminium wheels, if applicable. The stern also has been optimized. In addition to a broad diffuser, at the left and right oval exhaust tailpipes are used. The luggage compartment is integrated in the flap rear spoiler and ensures reduced lift on the road.

Practicality – Sports lounge

The RS6 is more like a sporty business limousine with a high daily benefit. All attributes of the A6 are also obtained in the high-performance version. So the interior shines and has still a lot of comfort and spaciousness for the driver and front passenger. I wanted to do this immediately.

Already on the first day, the RS6 had its everyday practicality test. There was a larger desk I’ve wanted to buy. This small test the Audi won with flying colours. The already large trunk (546 litres) had, thanks to the split folding rear seat, much room to expand. All desk items fit easily into the giant boot. The everyday life test the Audi has passed flawlessly.

Audi RS – 15 years of know-how

Since 1994, the RS emblem stands for the spearhead of the respective model series. At that time the citizens of Ingolstadt mount the RS2 with a powerful 315 hp five-cylinder in cooperation with Porsche. Audi distanced themselves successfully from the conservative image with the sporty S and RS series of and shone instead with dynamic design and powerful engines.

An Audi, which is allowed to wear the RS logo on the front, presents superior technology. Even the technical data should let tremble some riders of sport sprinters. The Audi RS6 marches with 426 kW (580 hp), if applicable. In 4.5 seconds, he sprints from 0 to 100 Only ten seconds later he reaches 200th speed. Upon customer request, the maximum speed of 250 to 280 km / h will be raised. Even then he still has enough air for more speed.

The power of ten cylinders – ‘Ingolstädter’ Engineering

Who can take the RS6 for a ride, can roughly understand how Superman feels. This enormous power with a bold print on the accelerator, makes sure that the grin stays on the face. Despite the 2 tonnes deadweight, the RS6 has to bare, he advances relentlessly, not least thanks to the quattro drive. With this car, there are no more real opponents, rather pitiful victims. Overtaking are comparable to a blink.

Tiptronic: 3 switch variants

The six-speed Tiptronic behaves in an exemplary maner. Setting the selector to D the RS6 reacts justly for the city, gear changes are barely perceived. Smaller gas shocks are rapidly, but cautiously accepted. Only when one pushes the accelerator, the sporting character of the RS6 comes back to light.

When the selector is switched to S, it moves forward much more aggressive. Nowadays, even a small intermediate push with the feet and the Audi stretches the muscles for a quick sprint.

Who wants beat the switching gears manually, using paddles up and down. Again and again, because then the most beautifull intermediate gas sounds are coming down from the tailpipes.

The interior – luxury sports

The interior of the RS6 is sporty and luxurious. Aluminium bars with initial RS6 lettering receive driver and passenger when boarding. The comfortable leather sports seats with embossed RS6-type, have even at fast cornering a good lateral support. The speedometer also welcomes with RS6 logo and displays a max of 320 km / h.

Decor Elements from Carbon adorn both of the central tunnel and the decorative elements in the doors. The multi-function sport leather steering wheel lays comfortably in the hand and is in reference to racing down flat.

The multi-function keys feel good and give you quick access to telephone, navigation and audio functions. The shift paddles are located directly behind the steering wheel and you can therefore operate good also during the trip curve.

The MMI operating system is a matter of taste and behind the shifter rather poorly positioned. A user-friendly positioning in front of the shifter, as in the Audi R8, would have been a much better choice. Also annoying is the positioning of the speaker control on the passenger side. Thus, the driver is no longer entirely the master of the sounds, which escape out of the excellent Bose system.

The chassis: Comfort, Dynamic or Sport?

The optional sports suspension plus sets itself on the respective needs of the driver, thanks to the dynamics of technology-ride, and guarantees carefree progress in everyday life. By pushing a button, the driver can decide how comfortable he wants to move forward. So in the comfort mode it is very relaxed on the matter, soil roughness are very well spring-mounted, perfect for family rides. The dynamic mode is the optimal balance between comfort and sportiness. This mode makes you basically never get wrong.

If it looks sporty on the road, or even on the track, it should go ahead, just the push of a button and the RS6 is taut and tired on the asphalt. This allows the ESP to be switched off in two steps.

The first push on the ESP Button allowes dynamic cornering with a small security anchor, the second stage switches the electronics completely. But even then the RS6 is not getting worked up. Thanks to Quattro.

That is possible to track with the RS6 in the curves is beyond question. Thanks to the back-heavy drive, drifts are even possible, but only with much coaxing coarse executes. For this discipline, there are undoubtedly better companions. But it is the idea that you could, if you like.

The consumption: cough, cough….

Consumption, as measured by the performance data, is within an acceptable range. On average, the RS6 did it with 17 to 16 MPG of gasoline. In the city the consumption, especially when there are a lot of traffic lights, is significantly high. Values around 13 MPG to 12 are not uncommon.

Who is disciplined with the pedal, the route Frankfurt – Hamburg (340 miles) is possible, with one tank and a consumption of 18 MPG. More could also be possible, but who the hell buys itself some 600 hp to save petrol and to skulk on Germany’s motorways?

Who drives much on highways, may also like some security features. Thus, the driver with all sorts of technical folderol, such as lane keeping assistant, right angle-alerter in the rear-view mirrors and Distance Control feel well looked after.

Brute force – optional with ceramic

To curb this brute power, the brakes must apply at any time excellence output. Ensure standard 390 mm front brake discs with six-piston aluminium saddle. At the rear wheels the brake disks with 365 mm in diameter and one piston-floating saddles are used.

Who is still a little “manageable”, may resort to ceramic brakes, in combination with the 20-inch wheels. This reduces the weight by 12.2 pounds and it holds to 300,000 km. Besides the imposing surcharge, there are huge brake discs with a diameter of 420 mm at the front and 356 mm on the rear axle.

Conclusion: At Audi currently everything is running just beautifully. Both in design and technology, Audi is currently on the fast lane, and certainly with a car like the RS6. Of course we can discuss about the meaning and purpose of such a vehicle, but the fact is that there is a market for such vehicles.

Audi has been understood, to not transform the RS6 to a prole car. Instead, the RS6 is educated and well-behaved and is always good to handle. Also, the visibility was in positive. That is been rare. Ultimately you will probably get from A to B with a 2.0 TDI  – the only question is, who will have more fun.

Finally! It has arrived.

Lexus have been teasing us with this monster for the past few years, boasting about the technology it packs, along with its vicious 550 hp 4.8 liter V10. If that wasn’t enough, the boys out in Japan decided it would be even more of a tease to send a race variant out to LeMans. Granted, it didn’t do so well but hey, I’m sure it helped in its development.

Only 500 cars will be available when the car goes into production at the end of 2010. Apparently, Lexus is only taking orders at this point (“pre-sales” according to their press release).

Now back to some of the details, Lexus was able to compact the size of the V10 to be smaller than your normal V8. On top of this, the car redlines at 9,000 rpm, hitting 0-100 km/h in approx. 3.5 seconds and a top speed of over 320 km/h. Wow!

To keep weight down, they employed the use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic throughout the exterior and the interior. Prices are expected to be over $350,000 according to Autoblog. Quite high but afterall, it is the most exclusive Lexus ever built.

The sound of the Audi R8 V10 is simply breathtaking. Every clip I have seen until now confirms that this car packs one hell of a menacing growl. The video below sees the Audi on track and “singing in the rain”. Sinatra would be proud!

Yesterday , the Frankfurt Motor Show just ended in Germany.  Here are some of the production cars that were unveiled there:

Aston Martin’s Rapide shown here is a four door sports car.  It accommodates 4 adults.  Th rear seats fall flat at the touch of a button to open the cargo space of 301 liters to 750 liters.  It features a 6.0 liter V12 engine that generates 470hp, torque stands at 443 lb ft and has a 6 speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission standard.  It does 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

This is the 2010 Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 V10.  The convertible version of the popular Audi R8 supercar.  This one comes with the Gallardos’ Lamborghin-sourced V10.  that generates 525 hp. Folding the soft top takes less than 20 seconds.  Although the Spyder weighs 476 pounds more than the coupe version, the 2010 Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 V10 does 0-60 in 4 seconds!

The BMW Active Hybrid 7 combines a V8 gasoline engine , eight speed automatic transmission and an electric motor.  The engine is a 4.4 liter V8 to what they added a 35-cell lithium-ion battery creating an overall output of 342 KW/465 hp and a 0-60 of 4.0 seconds.

This of course is the new Ferrari 458 Italia. The successor to the Ferrari 450. This one has 562 hp, new brakes, suspension and a F1 -style seven-speed gearbox.

The New Hyundai Tucson ix35 here has a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine, gasoline or diesel with 166 hp or 184 hp.  It features Downhill Brake Control,Hill-Start Assist control and drives either front wheel drive or four wheel drive.

The Reventon Roadster, the jet inspired Lamborghini convertible, has a 6.5 liter V12 that makes 661 horsepower and 487 lb-ft of torque and all-wheel drive. It goes from zero to sixty two mph in 3.4 seconds.

This is the Lotus Evora type 124 Endurance Racer. It is the racing version of the Evora made by Lotus. This version has only one seat unlike the standard version that comes with four.  It’s power comes from a Toyota V6 midships tuned to produce 400 horsepower.  It’s rear wheel drive and has a sequential gearbox, track suspension and carbon-composite panels.

This car is freaking beautiful.  What we have here is the Marussia B2, a new Russian supercar.  Info is scarce but we know it has some kind of Nissan-Renault V6 under the hood. Promising performance this successor to the B1 has a lot going for it. Click on the pictures above to see high resolution versions (the same with all the other cars in this post.)

And, this is the Marussia B1 Hybrid, another offering by the Russian Manufacturer.  We will let you know as more information becomes available about these cars.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “Gullwing” shown here created something of a buzz on the web and here it is.  571 horsepower from a 6.3 liter V8, almost 50/50 weight distribution and a zero to sixty two mph of 3.8 seconds.  Enjoy the pictures but I’m sure you will enjoy the attached video (trailer) and soundtrack even more above!  And, it will all come in an electrical version in the future, as well..

And now last but certainly not least the Golf R (Volkswagen R20.) The Golf, favorite among tuners and known to be built in Brazil is now better than ever. This latest incarnation comes with a 270 hp engine, a 0-62 mph time of just 5.5 secs, superb gas mileage and all-wheel drive. With a new, a little bit more aggressive, styling and revised interior this one is ready to be.

Jeremy Cato has posted a great review  in the Globe and Mail of the new 2010 Audi R8 V10 - not that it should be hard to love the R8 with a 525-hp engine in it. The article also touches on Audi chasing BMW and Mercedes on its path to becoming to number one automotive luxury brand in the world. Cato calls it bold, and it certainly is. Attainable? Audi is the leading luxury manufacturer in Europe so far this year (as measured in sales). In Canada? We’re not there yet, but we’re certainly on the move.

When the new Audi R8 went on sale in Canada this year, it sold out fast.

Appropriate, since everything about this car is fast.

For those of us who missed out on taking one of these bad boys home, however, there is a solution: a giant sticker you can throw on your [closed] garage door to make it look like a[n open] garage door with an Audi R8 inside.

Clever, eh? (One commenter at Creativity Online mentions that Toyota did this back in 2007, but we’re guessing it didn’t generate the same neighbor-envy among those who got them…)

But here’s the rub: the cost for this little trinket is a whopping $469.99.

Oh, sure, that’s in Canadian dollars, but it’s still a chunk of change for a novelty item.

Then again, it is Audi, and their parts never were cheap, were they?

The Swedes with their eye for tuning and their wide open spaces to run in stuck an M-Division S85 V10 in an E30 M3 and the results look nothing short of devastating. To prove the big power they stacked this said E30 M3 up against a current E92 M3 on a runway. Check out the video for the result…..Oh sweet indeed

It has officially been announced that the Audi R8 Spyder will house a V10 engine. The convertible should be available “next Spring in Germany” which means not too long afterwards will it reach the Middle East.

I will update this post in the next few days once and if I get the performance figures and any other details.

Audi has kept my hands full today with back to back posts. First, the rumored Project Anniversario S5 Quattro… and then this, the R8 Spyder. I have to give it to them because I normally don’t like convertible versions of coupes. But this be one sexy mama!

It’s yet to be confirmed if the Spyder will get the Lamborghini Gallardo derived V10 which has an output of 525 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, or if Audi will stick with the V8 found in most R8’s you see on the road. Considering the Spyder will probably be heavier than the fixed-roof version, the V10 would be the welcomed choice.

The trademark sideblades found on the coupe version are already missed as there was no way of retaining them for this conversion. But there are other design cues that make up for that, like the speedster style humps residing behind the driver & the passenger seats.

Nothing would please me more right now than to wipe off the smug look on the driver’s face. That should be me driving.

Nothing like mixing an array of various products from different countries from different walks of life, and backgrounds to mix up a good concoction of something new, fresh, different unique, and inspiring. For SP Engineering there is no exception, with so many people doing the same mundane things over and over mixing Japanese with European is something that will remain to be very unique, and pushing the envelope to something greater especially in the category of pairing Japanese wheels with European Cars. This is definitely form meets function which is rare. Because now the cars looks amazing but keeping performance at the foreground. This Superleggera is fitted with 20×9 in the front and 20×11 in the rear Volk VR.G2.

The G2 is a one piece forged monoblock design that is incredibly light and strong. The 20×11 G2 only weights in at 25.8 lbs paired with a set of Swift springs to create a nice fit, and drop helping with holding down power of the 600+whp courtesy of the twin turbo upgrade from Heffner Performance.

With over 25 years of experience, German tuner Manhart felt that the previous BMW Z4 model needed a little boost. Ok, a HUGE BOOST!

They decided to drop the M5’s insane V10 into the engine bay and work their way up. How does 550hp and 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds sound to you? The car weighs 1,450 kg meaning the car has a power-to-weight ratio of 2.6 kg per horsepower! INSANE!

To help translate all this power to the wheels, Manhart installed the following:

• Set of Bilstein B16 Coilovers
• E60 M5 6 speed manual (I assume this is from the US production model as a manual option was only available to their market)
• E60 M5 differential
• 19 inch BBS Challenge wheels
• AC Schnitzer exhaust system
• Fichtel & Sachs clutch
• Modified electronic control unit

From what I gather, the electronic speed limiter (250 km/h) has been removed so I’m left wondering what kind of top speed this monster is capable of.
