Finally, I’ve managed to find a free weekend which i do not have to rush out any of my Jellyhearts orders. I’ve always wanted to try this Oreo Truffles for a long time, the ingredients has been sitting in my cupboard for weeks till yesterday i’ve got time to try it out. My hubby loves it!! Just like those who comments on the site where i got this recipe, you just cant stop popping the little balls into your mouth, one after another!!! It’s really delicious!!

The recipe is very simple, but you just got to be patient to roll out all the oreo balls. Dipping also is another tricky part. The 1st batch was bad, so much extra chocolate dripping from the side. Need more practice to make it perfect.

For those who want  to try, here’s the recipe

1 package oreo cookies ( use cookie including the cream center)
1 8oz. package cream cheese (softened)
Dripping chocolate

1. Finely crush all  cookies in a food processor or place them in a ziploc bag and crush into a fine consistency.

2. Stir in softened cream cheese.

3. Roll the mixture into 1″ balls and place on wax paper.

4. Melt chocolate as directed on the package and then dip balls into chocolate, tap off extra and set aside on wax paper covered cookie sheet to dry.

5. Once dry, refrigerate and enjoy!

Valentine’s Day is many things to different people- a chance to start new relationships, rekindle old ones, or remind that special someone how wonderful they really are. Others feel it is just another “Hallmark” holiday where they are expected to do something for unknown reasons. Regardless of your hopes, expectations, or reservations about Valentine’s Day, chocolate has long been a favorite gift for lovers.

Since the days of the Aztecs chocolate has been used as a gift. Today a box of luxurious quality chocolate says a thousand “thank you’s”, “good luck”, or “I love you”. Chocolate can be given as a way of saying “congratulations”, “I am sorry” or “get well soon”. On Valentine’s Day chocolate clearly says “I LOVE YOU!” Chocolate is more than food, it not only fills your belly but also makes you feel soooo good. Elaine Sherman wrote “Chocolate is heavenly, mellow, sensual, deep, dark, sumptuous, gratifying, potent, dense, creamy, seductive, suggestive, rich, excessive, silky, smooth, luxurious, celestial. Chocolate is downfall, happiness, pleasure, love, ecstasy, fantasy … chocolate makes us wicked, guilty, sinful, healthy, chic, happy.” What more could you want to say to your lover on Valentines Day? Even the scientific name for the tree from which chocolate is derived, Theobroma cacao, translated from Greek, means “food of the gods”.

Why does chocolate evoke so many feelings and emotions for us? Chocolate has long been associated with passion, romance and love. This association may go all the way back to the Aztecs. They believed chocolate was a source of spiritual wisdom, incredible energy and elevated sexual power. Chocolate was widely used as a nuptial aid and was widely served at wedding ceremonies. The Aztecs did not know chocolate as we do today; they consumed the cocoa as a drink. Reports indicate that the Emperor Montezuma consumed large quantities of the drink every day and always fortified himself with a cup before entertaining his harem. The explorer Cortes reported to Carlos I of Spain that chocolate is “… the divine drink which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink enables a man to walk for a whole day without food.” From the earliest times, chocolate was considered a substance of power and a source of vitality.

Chocolate has been a subject of study since the first shipment from Veracruz arrived in Spain in 1585. But modern science has made some interesting findings that may help explain our lust for quality chocolate. Chocolate contains organic substances known as alkaloids. The most important of these substances is theobromine, which works as a stimulant to the kidneys. Stimulants in chocolate also affect the central nervous system, with effects similar to caffeine, which is also present in chocolate. A chocolate bar may contain as much as 200 mg of theobromine but only about 25 mg of caffeine. Another important substance found in chocolate is phenylethylamine, which is part of a group of chemicals known as endorphins. Endorphins have an effect similar to amphetamine and are found naturally in the human body. When endorphins are released into the bloodstream, the mood is lifted and feelings of positive energy are reached. The sensation known as “runners high” is caused by endorphins released during exercise. Phenylethylamine levels in the brain have also been linked to “falling in love”. One more chemical found in chocolate is seratonin. Seratonin is known for its calming properties. The presence of these chemicals may explain the multitude of feelings chocolate evokes.

Debra Waterhouse, author of Why Women Need Chocolate, conducted a survey and found: 97% of women reported cravings, 68% of which are for chocolate, 50% would choose chocolate over sex, and 22% were more likely than men to choose chocolate as a mood elevator. These findings could easily be interpreted as a result of how chocolate makes us feel. I don’t know why more women choose chocolate than men, for I am a man and I love chocolate.

Critics would say that the benefits of eating chocolate are small when compared to the sugar and fat contained in a chocolate bar. The best chocolate, dark chocolate with high cacao butter content has no added fat, as well as a high percentage of cacao solids and correspondingly less sugar. Although chocolate will never be considered a health food based on its nutritional value, it is still good for you! Good for your heart and soul-anything that helps relieve stress and makes you feel so good must be.

Menurut pandangan Islam

Benarkah ia hanya kasih sayang belaka ?

“Dan jika kamu menuruti kebanyakan orang-orang di muka bumi ini, nescaya mereka akan menyesatkanmu dari jalan Allah. Mereka tidak lain hanyalah mengikuti prasangka belaka, dan mereka tidak lain hanyalah berdusta (terhadap Allah).” (Surah Al-An’am : 116)

Hari ‘kasih sayang’ yang dirayakan oleh orang-orang Barat pada tahun-tahun terakhir disebut ‘Valentine Day’ amat popular dan merebak di pelusuk Indonesia bahkan di Malaysia juga. Lebih-lebih lagi apabila menjelangnya bulan Februari di mana banyak kita temui jargon-jargon (simbol-simbol atau iklan-iklan) tidak Islami hanya wujud demi untuk mengekspos (mempromosi) Valentine. Berbagai tempat hiburan bermula dari diskotik(disko/kelab malam), hotel-hotel, organisasi-organisasi mahupun kelompok-kelompok kecil; ramai yang berlumba-lumba menawarkan acara untuk merayakan Valentine. Dengan dukungan(pengaruh) media massa seperti surat kabar, radio mahupun televisyen; sebagian besar orang Islam juga turut dicekoki(dihidangkan) dengan iklan-iklan Valentine Day.

SEJARAH VALENTINE:

Sungguh merupakan hal yang ironis(menyedihkan/tidak sepatutnya terjadi) apabila telinga kita mendengar bahkan kita sendiri ‘terjun’ dalam perayaan Valentine tersebut tanpa mengetahui sejarah Valentine itu sendiri. Valentine sebenarnya adalah seorang martyr (dalam Islam disebut ‘Syuhada’) yang kerana kesalahan dan bersifat ‘dermawan’ maka dia diberi gelaran Saint atau Santo.

Pada tanggal 14 Februari 270 M, St. Valentine dibunuh karena pertentangannya (pertelingkahan) dengan penguasa Romawi pada waktu itu iaitu Raja Claudius II (268 – 270 M). Untuk mengagungkan dia (St. Valentine), yang dianggap sebagai simbol ketabahan, keberanian dan kepasrahan dalam menghadapi cubaan hidup, maka para pengikutnya memperingati kematian St. Valentine sebagai ‘upacara keagamaan’.

Tetapi sejak abad 16 M, ‘upacara keagamaan’ tersebut mulai beransur-ansur hilang dan berubah menjadi ‘perayaan bukan keagamaan’. Hari Valentine kemudian dihubungkan dengan pesta jamuan kasih sayang bangsa Romawi kuno yang disebut “Supercalis” yang jatuh pada tanggal 15 Februari.

Setelah orang-orang Romawi itu masuk agama Nasrani(Kristian), pesta ’supercalis’ kemudian dikaitkan dengan upacara kematian St. Valentine. Penerimaan upacara kematian St. Valentine sebagai ‘hari kasih sayang’ juga dikaitkan dengan kepercayaan orang Eropah bahwa waktu ‘kasih sayang’ itu mulai bersemi ‘bagai burung jantan dan betina’ pada tanggal 14 Februari.

Dalam bahasa Perancis Normandia, pada abad pertengahan terdapat kata “Galentine” yang bererti ‘galant atau cinta’. Persamaan bunyi antara galentine dan valentine menyebabkan orang berfikir bahwa sebaiknya para pemuda dalam mencari pasangan hidupnya pada tanggal 14 Februari. Dengan berkembangnya zaman, seorang ‘martyr’ bernama St. Valentino mungkin akan terus bergeser jauh pengertiannya(jauh dari erti yang sebenarnya). Manusia pada zaman sekarang tidak lagi mengetahui dengan jelas asal usul hari Valentine. Di mana pada zaman sekarang ini orang mengenal Valentine lewat (melalui) greeting card, pesta persaudaraan, tukar kado(bertukar-tukar memberi hadiah) dan sebagainya tanpa ingin mengetahui latar belakang sejarahnya lebih dari 1700 tahun yang lalu.

Dari sini dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa moment(hal/saat/waktu) ini hanyalah tidak lebih bercorak kepercayaan atau animisme belaka yang berusaha merosak ‘akidah’ muslim dan muslimah sekaligus memperkenalkan gaya hidup barat dengan kedok percintaan(bertopengkan percintaan), perjodohan dan kasih sayang.

PANDANGAN ISLAM

Sebagai seorang muslim tanyakanlah pada diri kita sendiri, apakah kita akan mencontohi begitu saja sesuatu yang jelas bukan bersumber dari Islam ?

Mari kita renungkan firman Allah s.w.t.:

“ Dan janglah kamu megikuti apa yang kamu tidak mempunyai pengetahuan tentangnya. Sesungguhnya pendengaran, penglihatan, dan hati, semuanya itu akan diminta pertanggung jawabnya”. (Surah Al-Isra : 36)

Dalam Islam kata “tahu” berarti mampu mengindera(mengetahui) dengan seluruh panca indera yang dikuasai oleh hati. Pengetahuan yang sampai pada taraf mengangkat isi dan hakikat sebenarnya. Bukan hanya sekedar dapat melihat atau mendengar. Bukan pula sekadar tahu sejarah, tujuannya, apa, siapa, kapan(bila), bagaimana, dan di mana, akan tetapi lebih dari itu.

Oleh kerana itu Islam amat melarang kepercayaan yang membonceng(mendorong/mengikut) kepada suatu kepercayaan lain atau dalam Islam disebut Taqlid.

Hadis Rasulullah s.a.w:“ Barang siapa yang meniru atau mengikuti suatu kaum (agama) maka dia termasuk kaum (agama) itu”.
Firman Allah s.w.t. dalam Surah AL Imran (keluarga Imran) ayat 85 :“Barangsiapa yang mencari agama selain agama Islam, maka sekali-sekali tidaklah diterima (agama itu) daripadanya, dan dia di akhirat termasuk orang-orang yang rugi”.

HAL-HAL YANG HARUS DIBERI PERHATIAN:-

Dalam masalah Valentine itu perlu difahami secara mendalam terutama dari kaca mata agama kerana kehidupan kita tidak dapat lari atau lepas dari agama (Islam) sebagai pandangan hidup. Berikut ini beberapa hal yang harus difahami di dalam masalah ‘Valentine Day’.

1. PRINSIP / DASAR
Valentine Day adalah suatu perayaan yang berdasarkan kepada pesta jamuan ’supercalis’ bangsa Romawi kuno di mana setelah mereka masuk Agama Nasrani (kristian), maka berubah menjadi ‘acara keagamaan’ yang dikaitkan dengan kematian St. Valentine.

2. SUMBER ASASI
Valentine jelas-jelas bukan bersumber dari Islam, melainkan bersumber dari rekaan fikiran manusia yang diteruskan oleh pihak gereja. Oleh kerana itu lah , berpegang kepada akal rasional manusia semata-mata, tetapi jika tidak berdasarkan kepada Islam(Allah), maka ia akan tertolak.

Firman Allah swt dalam Surah Al Baqarah ayat 120 :“Orang-orang Yahudi dan Nasrani tidak akan senang kepada kamu hingga kamu mengikuti agama mereka.

Katakanlah : “Sesungguhnya petunjuk Allah itulah petunjuk (yang sebenarnya)”. Dan sesungguhnya jika kamu mengikuti kemahuan mereka setelah pengetahuan datang kepadamu, maka Allah tidak lagi menjadi pelindung dan penolong bagimu”.

3. TUJUAN
Tujuan mencipta dan mengungkapkan rasa kasih sayang di persada bumi adalah baik. Tetapi bukan seminit untuk sehari dan sehari untuk setahun. Dan bukan pula bererti kita harus berkiblat kepada Valentine seolah-olah meninggikan ajaran lain di atas Islam. Islam diutuskan kepada umatnya dengan memerintahkan umatnya untuk berkasih sayang dan menjalinkan persaudaraan yang abadi di bawah naungan Allah Yang Maha Pengasih dan Penyayang. Bahkan Rasulullah s.a.w. bersabda :“Tidak beriman salah seorang di antara kamu sehingga ia cinta kepada saudaranya seperti cintanya kepada diri sendiri”.

4. OPERASIONAL
Pada umumnya acara Valentine Day diadakan dalam bentuk pesta pora dan huru-hara.
Perhatikanlah firman Allah s.w.t.:“Sesungguhnya pemboros-pemboros itu adalah saudara-saudara syaithon dan syaithon itu adalah sangat ingkar kepada Tuhannya”. (Surah Al Isra : 27)

Surah Al-Anfal ayat 63 yang berbunyi : “…walaupun kamu membelanjakan semua (kekayaan) yang berada di bumi, niscaya kamu tidak dapat mempersatukan hati mereka, akan tetapi Allah telah mempersatukan hati mereka. Sesungguhnya Dia (Allah) Maha Perkasa lagi Maha Bijaksana”.

Sudah jelas ! Apapun alasannya, kita tidak dapat menerima kebudayaan import dari luar yang nyata-nyata bertentangan dengan keyakinan (akidah) kita. Janganlah kita mengotori akidah kita dengan dalih toleransi dan setia kawan. Kerana kalau dikata toleransi, Islamlah yang paling toleransi di dunia.

Sudah berapa jauhkah kita mengayunkan langkah mengelu-elukan(memuja-muja) Valentine Day ? Sudah semestinya kita menyedari sejak dini(saat ini), agar jangan sampai terperosok lebih jauh lagi. Tidak perlu kita irihati dan cemburu dengan upacara dan bentuk kasih sayang agama lain. Bukankah Allah itu Ar Rahman dan Ar Rohim. Bukan hanya sehari untuk setahun. Dan bukan pula dibungkus dengan hawa nafsu. Tetapi yang jelas kasih sayang di dalam Islam lebih luas dari semua itu. Bahkan Islam itu merupakan ‘alternatif’ terakhir setelah manusia gagal dengan sistem-sistem lain.

Lihatlah kebangkitan Islam!!! Lihatlah kerosakan-kerosakan yang ditampilkan oleh peradaban Barat baik dalam media massa, televisyen dan sebagainya. Karena sebenarnya Barat hanya mengenali perkara atau urusan yang bersifat materi. Hati mereka kosong dan mereka bagaikan ‘robot’ yang bernyawa.

MARI ISTIQOMAH (BERPEGANG TEGUH)
Perhatikanlah Firman Allah :
“…dan sesungguhnya jika kamu mengikuti keinginan mereka setelah datang ilmu kepadamu, sesungguhnya kamu kalau begitu termasuk golongan orang-orang yang zalim”.

Semoga Allah memberikan kepada kita hidayahNya dan ketetapan hati untuk dapat istiqomah dengan Islam sehingga hati kita menerima kebenaran serta menjalankan ajarannya.

Tujuan dari semua itu adalah agar diri kita selalu taat sehingga dengan izin Allah s.w.t. kita dapat berjumpa dengan para Nabi baik Nabi Adam sampai Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.

Firman Allah s.w.t.:
“Barangsiapa yang taat kepada Allah dan RasulNya maka dia akan bersama orang-orang yang diberi nikmat dari golongan Nabi-Nabi, para shiddiq (benar imannya), syuhada, sholihin (orang-orang sholih), mereka itulah sebaik-baik teman”.

Berkata Peguam Zulkifli Nordin (peguam di Malaysia) di dalam kaset ‘MURTAD’ yang mafhumnya :-

“VALENTINE” adalah nama seorang paderi. Namanya Pedro St. Valentino. 14 Februari 1492 adalah hari kejatuhan Kerajaan Islam Sepanyol. Paderi ini umumkan atau isytiharkan hari tersebut sebagai hari ‘kasih sayang’ kerana pada nya Islam adalah ZALIM!!! Tumbangnya Kerajaan Islam Sepanyol dirayakan sebagai Hari Valentine. Semoga Anda Semua Ambil Pengajaran!!! Jadi.. mengapa kita ingin menyambut Hari Valentine ini kerana hari itu adalah hari jatuhnya kerajaan Islam kita di Sepanyol..

flipping back my book to page 18, when i was 18 years old…there is no picture of me…and all the things to do are left untouched!
