Hejsan! Fick mitt livs chock idag när jag vaknade det var snö överallt! Wtf var inte det igår kväll

Skrev en slags varningsartikel mot nätpedofil grupper som finns på Facebook! Inte så roligt! Så här kallar sig två grupper på FB och de består av män och kvinnor i alla åldrar och etniciteter:

“All unite – Pedobear for ruler of the world!”

“400 personer tjuvkikar i duschen på det slumpvis utvalda knattelaget.”

Denna typ av grupperingar och nätverk borde fan i mig förbjudas att få existera på sociala forum! Har skickat in den till Nationell Idag får hoppas den kommer in i en eller annan form.

Valkyrie is based on real events. It tells the story behind the
plotting the failed July 20, 1944, which was based on the
“elimination” of Adolf Hitler and the seizure of power through a plan
emergency known as Operation Valkyrie (Unternehmen Walküre)
Operation Valkyrie was approved by Hitler himself to be implemented
in the event that the allied bombing on German cities caused
breakdown of public order. Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg
(played by Tom Cruise) played a key role in the plot as it was
in charge of Operation Valkyrie, which allowed him access to Hitler
reports and carrying out other functions of the operation.

I remember back when I was very attentive and was able to focus diligently on what I was doing. Or perhaps the nostalgic part of my brain is spouting lies at me. In any case, my original intent to be really productive this Saturday has already been ruined.

I’m still not done with process recording for this week. Of course part of it has to do with the fact that I’m really slow with these, but sitting inside my own apartment room with a computer in front of me, it’s much to easy to get a bit sidetracked. Today I got sidetracked by going to myanimebucket.com and then quickly realizing that the very last episode of Valkyria Chronicles anime was uploaded.

Because episode 24 and episode 25 are apparently no longer available (they were probably taken down due to copyright infringement), I went into episode 26 a bit disoriented. The episode started with Alicia captured inside the Mamota, which totally took me off guard because that definitely doesn’t happen in the game. In that regard, the anime seems to have strayed quite a bit from the game’s storytelling by this point. Episode 26 gave a short flashback to how Selvaria initiated the Valkyrur’s Flame and that also was different from how that happened in the game.

Simply put, much of the ending of the anime is very, very different and I personally didn’t like it at all. Faldio’s sacrifice had meaning in the game but in the anime, it just feels random. The battle inside Mamota was comical at best and cheesy at worst. Unlike the game in which Squad 7 was to disable the holy spear of the Mamota by attacking the ragnite sources, the anime has Squad 7 as acting as diversion so that Welkin could reach where Alicia is captured. I think this was a terrible decision because it makes the battle feel so insignificant and unrealistic. The entire episode was a terrible decision I think. Maximilian is defeated because Alicia hugs him and starts the process of Valkyrur’s Flame and that Flame is then killed off by Welkin’s kiss? Isara’s airplane doesn’t make an appearance and instead Alicia and Welkin just walk out of the Mamota?

I loved the anime when it elaborated on the game’s deeper elements, such as Selvaria’s personal history, Maximilian’s problems with The Empire’s bureaucratic regime, and the love triangle among Faldio, Welkin, and Alicia but the anime handled closure pretty awfully. It’s not that I think the anime should have perfectly mirrored the game because I didn’t mind a few of the changes to the story, but it’s just that a lot of changes to the ending don’t make sense. Seriously, Welkin and Alicia being rescued by Isara’s airplane, that was one of the coolest moments of the game. Why did they decide to just totally omit this? And if they decided to omit it, why wasn’t there something just as emotional or as impactful to replace that omission?

Overall, I’m just severely disappointed. I was coming to love the idea of game stories being translated into anime but I guess not everything is good about such adaptation.

So that was one of the things I was sidetracked by today, along with . I wasted much more hours making a wordpress account for Artificial Idiocy . Now I’m gonna go back to the readings for my class and the dreaded process recording assignments (only 2 left to go).

Recent Animes of 2009 - Some Disappointments

The one Jun Fukuyama character that I can recall who isn’t an arse.

First, an off topic statement: Anime Animals Polling will be post-poned until this blog becomes a bit more popular (if it gets popular). Didn’t have time to say that in a post because of school. Anyway~ after catching up on some anime, I can’t help but feel some disappointment. At times, I felt some anime was straying a bit, or there was too much detail in just one area. I’ll list why I was disappointed in some of these animes (will be spoilers).

1) 07-Ghost: Had sort of high hopes for this one. Animation quality was good and the main character had a decent relationship with everyone he meets. The random comedy areas were a nice touch at times, too. However, I was mostly shut down by how long Teito took to finally stop being, basically emo. He understood something then questioned something else. Every episode, he was upset about something. I kind of wished that there was a bit more detail with the fight with Ayanami (second one). Though, I know most people wouldn’t want it to run too long. I guess it was good enough since it basically helped lead the anime to the second season.

2) Shangri-La: I don’t know what I could say about this one. So many characters as well as so many events happening at once. It was probably just me who was shut off by Ryoko, let alone some other characters. What weirded me out the most was the huge boomerang in the last episode. If you’re going to give the main character an epically huge weapon, at least give her an epically “decent” battle that doesn’t last for half the episode. Though, it definitely reminded me of a Final Fantasy Boss Battle.

3) Aoi Hana: I don’t know what I was expecting out of this. Maybe one of them to hook up with someone. It didn’t feel like an ending to me. I guess it strengthened their old friendship and showed Fumi’s side of life. Oh well, just another anime ending I didn’t expect.

4) Spice and Wolf II: Another ending that isn’t much of an ending. Just a lead on to a new season. At least we finally got to hear the well deserved “Daisuki” from Jun Fukuyama. I’m going to watch the third season when it comes out anyway =D

5) Valkyria Chronicles: Not exactly a disappointment, but the Prince reminds me way too much of Lelouch. Jun Fukuyama, why must you be a jerk and merchant!?

6) The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2: All I need to say is: Endless Eight.

As of now, that’s all I’ve caught up on. Expect to hear something about NYAF this weekend~

I finally finished watching Mai-Otome, now I’m watchin all the OVAs and stuff.
I saw Valkyria Chronicles yesterday and it was like OMG!!Why the hell did Amarty and the rest of Squad 1 have to die and leave Faldio . First Isara now Amarty!? When will it end!!!!!

Hi.

First day of school has passed. Nothing special. But it was still.

Before my middle school years ended I did not think that I would miss my class. And I didn’t. Until today.

I remember the past years, with my childhood friends. And my last class, I felt safe. But I’m not anymore.

When me went around in the school, they showing us around, I remembered that we used to run around and look for the right places.

And now we wont see each other much.

Everyplace we went to reminded me of them.

The library where Elle and I have spent lots of time doing crosswords.

The food place where looked for a empty table.

I just felt so lonely. I did not know anyone there.

We could go home after we had eaten lunch but I was thinking of not eating in the fear of eating alone. But! I managed to get eye contact with a lonely classmate of mine, + that one more came to sit with us. That’ did make me feel a little better.

She wasnew in town and nice, that’s was the impression that I got anyway.

Enought about that, for now..

I saw episode 20 of Valkyria chronicle today. … I could not believe my eyes.

That was not what I toughed that anime was heading! That it was that anime where everyone dies. That was just to damn sad. Faldio was so damn down, I can understand him. I did not want them to die, especially not the one who pushed Faldio of the way. (Don’t want to spoil)

I also watched some more episodes of Majin tantei nougami nerou. And I was wondering what connection Susukawa and with Yoku. If that did something special in the early episodes. If was some time ago that I watched the beginning. So I went to wikipedia. And got a shock when I read his biography.

I did not want to belive it. I really liked him. I did figure that it did not happened in the anime so I went for the manga to look it up. And I acily stumbled over the right chapter at my first try!

That was uber sad. I did not know details but still! I’m so reading the manga when I’m finished with teh anime. Or?

I also feel like reading Akumetsu. I’ve do that tomorrow.

Procure por essa caixinha... Ela vai proporcionar boas horas de jogatina!

Apesar de hoje em dia existirem muitos games de guerra, a variedade com que o tema é explorado não é lá muito, como se diz, variável… Enfim, na temática guerra militar, em que o principal objetivo do game é eliminar o inimigo e cumprir a missão, de preferência mirando e atirando desde balas (de chumbo, não de açucar) até bombas no carinha que está com uma roupa de cor diferente, os jogos não “vareiam” muito em seus gêneros, e acabam ficando mais reduzidos a games de estratégia e, principalmente, shooters. É óbvio que existem exemplares de games de guerra que são shooters memoráveis, como Gears of War e Call of Duty, e alguns RTS’s que também são emblemáticos (gastei agora), como Comand & Conquer e Age of Empires, mas, a maioria das guerrinhas não desviam muito desses dois genêros.

Pelo que escrevi, tudo indica que existem algumas exceções. Uma delas é o jogo que será analisado logo abaixo. Seu nome é Valkyria Chronicles, um RPG tático produzido pela Sega.

Bem, Valkyria Chronicles é um jogo complexo, pois junta características de vários gêneros, resultando em algo único. Mistura o sistema de batalha de Worms 3D com evolução de potencialidades e armas, criando um RPG tático em que se mira nos inimigos, ou em tanques de combustível e qualquer outra coisa mais que possa explodir alguém. A jogabilidade do game é muito boa, e é necessário que se conheça bem seus soldados, o terreno e o inimigo, para tirar melhor proveito das situações (alguém lembrou daquele chinês maluco chamado Sun Tzu).

Existem cinco classes guerreiros: Batedores, leves e rápido que têm um campo de visão vasto, podendo ser usados na defesa; Fuzileiros, com uma mobilidade mais reduzida, mas poder de fogo e defesa desenvolvidos, também podendo ser defensores; Bazuqueiros, especialistas em destruir tanques com armamento pesado, o que os deixa lentos e vulneráveis aos batedores, fusileiros e francoatiradores, mas resistentes a explosões, mas somente podendo atacar; Engenheiros, que consertam tanques, desarmam minas e distribuem munição, possuindo ataque e defesa baixos, e também não podem defender; e Francoatiradores, que, são francoatiradores hehe, são frágeis e andam pouco, mas atiram de muito longe e causam um dano bem elevado quando acertam, mas, não defendem. E o tanque chamado Edelweiss, comandado por Ten. Welking e dirigido por Isara, sua irmã.

Além disso, cada personagem tem traços de personalidade únicos (o Jahn, por exemplo, é homosexual assumido e tem alergia de pólem), amizades com outros membros do 7º Batalhão, e inimizades e preconceitos, como alguns soldados, a exemplo da Rosie, que odeia os darksens.

Ninguém fala mal da escolha de Jahn

Os mapas onde ocorrem as batalhas são bem diversificados, de acordo com o desenrolar da história da guerra que se passa em vários territórios. Então encontraremos combates na zona rural, em cidades, desertos de dunas e penhascos, sempre com a adcional de aclives, declives, montes e morros, torres, ruinas e superfícies escaláveis com lugares estratégicos para o melhor posicionamento. Esse detalhamento do terreno contribui muito para o jogador montar sua estratégia de modo cuidadoso, colocando cada homem (ou mulher) certo no lugar certo e na hora certa e, como se não bastasse, com a pessoa certa. Tudo isso conta, e deixa Valkyria com um sabor especial para quem gosta de tática e estratégia, ainda mais se, no fim da batalha, você receber uma nota “A” pelo desempenho.

Agora, por que eu recomendaria, de todo meu coração, este jogo a todos que sabem ler? É o enredo dele. A história, que é contada como em um livro, onde cada página é um capítulo, é justamente a parte mais interessante desse game, e o torna único.

A trama gira em torno da participação do Tenente Welkin, comandante do 7º Batalhão, e seus grandes feitos na Segunda Guerra Mundial, ops, na Segunda Guerra Européia, de acordo com o game. É claro que o enredo do game é uma paródia sobre os a 2ºGM no que tange seus preceitos básicos, como expancionismo e governos ditatoriais, com direito, inclusive, a “campos de concentração” para a raça dos Darcsens, um povo que não usa kippa, mas usa um xale todo especial e que os indentifica.

Esse é o mundo "fictício" de Valkyria Chronicles. Galia é aquela Belgica/Holanda pintada de azul.

A maneira leve como os acontecimentos vão sendo apresentados deve ser muito elogiada, assim como modo divertido que o enredo vai se desenvolvendo, sem, contudo, fazer com que a história fique banalisada. Há momentos de cenas cômicas, outros de cenas tristes, acontecimentos em que se sente raiva de certos personagens, nem sempre do exército inimigo. E os roteiristas até inseriram algumas mitificações sobre um povo lendário (os valkyrur) para dar um ar a mais de historinhas rpgísticas hehe.

Impossível deixar de notar a importância de um game cujo enredo retoma a temática da discriminação, críticas negativas à aristocracia, liberdade, igualdade, e, principalmente, a valoração da vida humana, sem distinção alguma (lembrem, temos um bazuqueiro gay no 7º Batalhão).

Enfim, o game direciona o enredo de modo a fazer com que o jogador pense a respeito desses temas não apenas assistindo, mas participando, o que eleva o grau de envolvimento com esses temas, visto que o jogador é ator, e não mero espectador nessas discussões.

Por fim, em relação aos quesitos técnicos, como gráficos e som, só o que se vê, em relação ao que se vê (ahá!) é que a arte do jogo é muito boa. Resolução máxima de 720p. E, principalmente, o cellshading com um estilo próprio que recria os tanques e uniformes usados na Primeira Guerra Mundial de modo especial, sendo que não se tem arte parecida com a do game nem no mundo dos animes, nem dos videogames, ou, ao menos, eu nunca vi hehehe.

A sonoplastia é marcante, a dublagem foi feita tanto em inglês como em japonês num trabalho admirável, assim como em tantos outros rpg’s japoneses (os caras são mestres mesmo), mas, nada extraordinária no que se refere às músicas que são apenas boas, não chegando ao nível de complexidade melódica (não que eu entenda muita coisa disso hehe) das OST’s de Lost Odyssey e, principalmente, Eternal Sonata, a melhor até agora na opinião de muitos – e não estou falando por causa das músicas do Chopin… O Motoi Sakuraba é quase um Nobuo Uematsu.

Bem, pessoas, é só isso mesmo… Fica a dica para quem tem acesso a um PS3 que jogue este game. Além de muito divertido, também é proveitoso como contribuição à educação de adolescentes visto que o jogo é uma parábola sobre a 2º GM e trata de temas de grande peso na vida social de todo cidadão simpático à democracia.

Hur stoppar man ondska?

Om man nu skall tro de flesta recensenter så skulle detta alltså ha varit snudd på “kalkonfilm”. Expressen & DN gav den 2/5, dvs samma betyg som filmerna “Knowing” & “The Happening“. Så dålig är inte denna film, det kan jag lova er.

Valkyrie

Personligen tror jag att filmens “lägre” betyg oftast beror mer på herr Cruise’s koppling till scientologin än hur han är som skådis. För filmen är välspelad, Valkyrie har dessutom något som de tidigare nämnda två kalkonerna saknar, dvs ett manus som funkar. Egentligen finns det ingenting att klaga på när det gäller denna filmen, det skulle i så fall vara att man redan vet vad som kommer hända (om man nu kan lite historia dvs.)

Filmen handlar om Överste Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) och hans kamp att stoppa Hitler. Gillar du att sitta och räkna kändisar är detta filmen för dig, stora tunga namn som tex Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy & Kenneth Branagh spelar stora roller i detta historiedrama.

Filmen håller ett ganska lågmält tempo, men det är helt ok, det är som sagt ingen actionfilm. Fotot är stilistiskt och detaljerna finns där konstant för att få dig att komma i stämning. Så varför så lågt betyg?

Som sagt, antingen är det som jag nämnde förut. Tom Cruise är scientolog, och bara för hans personliga tro fryser Hollywood och resten av mediavärlden han ute. Eller så kanske det var så enkelt att de förväntade sig en actionfilm, mer än drama. Tompa Cruisebär har alltid varit en av mina favoritskådisar, hur han är utanför filmerna skiter jag totalt i. Tyvärr är dagens mediasamhälle ungefär tvärt emot detta, de skiter i hur han faktiskt gör sitt jobb, istället är det mer prat om hur han bråkar med hans fru Katie Holmes, vilka kläder de skall ha på sig, hur stor deras unge Suri blivit och massa annan skit som faktiskt ingen egentligen bryr sig om. Glöm inte bort paradnumret “hans hjärntvätt”.

Ärligt talat, skall man ta allt detta in i beaktning när man sätter ett betyg på en film, eller skall man fokusera på vad han faktiskt gör framför kameran? Jag har absolut ingenting över för varken scientologin eller dagens media om ni nu tror det, de får ge sin bedömning själva på vad de tycker om denna filmen, men man kan ju inte låta bli att fundera lite på vad som händer i fikarummet på Aftonbladet & Expressen ibland och vem som sätter betygen på deras recensioner.

Valkyrie: 7/10

Är man bara medveten om att detta är en dramafilm och absolut allt annat än en actionfilm och kan dessutom se mellan fingrarna när det gäller Tom Cruise så bör man inte ha några problem alls med att uppskatta denna filmen. Den är som sagt välspelad och snygg i sitt filmspråk, tempot påminner lite om det i filmen Michael Clayton.

I raved about Valkyria Chronicles‘ elegant simplicity a couple weeks back, but, now that I’ve finished the game, it’s time to criticize a few things. Mainly I’m thinking of the frequent, overt objectification of women. This was a pretty pervasive element, and it kind of bugged me.

Full disclosure: I’m an American dood. One that’s not especially well-versed in gender issues. Also, I don’t really know a whole lot about Japanese culture. It’s possible I’ve overlooked something important. Then again, this many panty shots and extra-jiggly mammaries are hard to ignore.

Now, Valkyria Chronicles is somewhat hammy, yes. But none of the characters’ personalities warrants its often exaggeratedly sexy presentation. Besides, when several of the female characters in a game look sort of like this, well…that’s just silly, isn’t it?

And I’m not referring to the flaming blue shit — I’m talking about Selvaria Bles’ excessive boobage. It isn’t just breasts, either…there are an awful lot of short skirts with long legs as well.

Certain questionable costume choices aside, Sega’s character design is fantastic. For the most part, Gallia’s citizens are quite charming and well-dressed. But water balloon boobies bouncing in the cut scenes and ladies upskirted after death? Ridiculous.

Worse still, that kind of crap doesn’t serve to enrich the game’s thematic concerns. On the contrary, it’s so glaringly out of place as to be a major distraction. There’s just no room for a little *winkwink, nudgenudge* in a title that’s tackling war, racism, and rebirth.

The thing is, women are treated as objects in all kinds of media. Only here, it’s different. Valkyria Chronicles isn’t about big, dumb fun. Not that those types of products get a free pass, because they don’t. But what’s surprising in this case is that the game’s in no small part concerned with vilifying people who treat others differently based on common descent or heredity. It seems utterly stupid to criticize racists and leer at breasts while making the statement. Sexism’s not cool either, and such confused presentation doesn’t make a lick of sense. This is exactly the kind of stuff that’s much too often explained away as part of what’s ultimately “just a game.” It’s time to grow up and stop making lame excuses for everything incongruous.

Absolutely Touching

In the past few years, I can recall five games that took me by surprise. They were, in no particular order, Final Fantasy XII, Prince of Persia (the new one), Assassin’s Creed, Ōkami, and Valkyria Chronicles. The first of those took me by surprise in a bad way. A very bad way. The other four surprised me by being much better than I expected. Valkyria Chronicles is yet another turn-based tactical RPG. But it’s completely different from anything I’ve ever seen before. The story is set in a Europe-like world where a conflict between two superpowers has left poor little Gallia stuck in the middle. When the mighty East Europan Imperial Alliance comes into Gallia to gain access to its natural resources, a young student named Welkin Gunther has to lead a militia squad as a part of the armed forces trying to repel the invasion. Along with a local baker named Alicia Melchiott, his adopted sister Isara Gunther, the former singer and overbearing strong woman Bridgette “Rosie” Stark, and the gruff but kind Largo Potter, Welkin, the son of a great Gallian general, has to survive in these harsh conditions. Along the way, people die, bonds are formed, and the mystery of the Valkyria and the Darcsens, two ethnic groups, is revealed.

There are tons of good things about this game. For one, the plot is a lot of fun, and you grow to love the characters. The English voice acting is surprisingly good, especially since I’ve never been a fan of Colleen O’Shaughnessey. The game is absolutely gorgeous, despite not being “life-like,” and it’s presented in an adorable storybook-esque manner. It almost makes you forget that there’s a war going on. The gameplay is pretty revolutionary. Even though it’s turn-based, there’s no tile system for movement. You select a character, and you get to move in real time a certain amount in the map before your move points run out. You can move characters a set number of times each turn based on your command points. You also get to aim your guns, and you can go for head shots for extra damage. All this, and the blood is so inconsequential that squeamish people like me aren’t offended. All in all, this is a superb game. The music is a bit forgetable, but if you like J-RPGs with cute characters and an engaging storyline, you should pick this up. The fun gameplay is just a great bonus.
