Congrats Tony!!!

Det bliver en vild weekend, tror jeg. I morgen skal jeg i byen med dem fra klassen.
Jeg håber at Lars er der, jeg savner ham. Det ville virkelig være klasse at se ham. Ellers må jeg jo bare negle Søren, som jeg plejer, lol.

Søren går i min klasse og lige fra første gang vi så hinanden, har vi flirtet og sådan, men jeg var jo sammen med Jonas dengang. En dag flirtede vi dog rigtig meget og vi begyndte at være meget sammen, da det gik dårligt med Jonas og mig. Vi sov tit sammen uden at lave noget, uden så meget som at holde om hinanden. Vi har kysset mange gange, men aldrig lavet mere. Vi kysser faktisk sådan ofte, når der ikke lige er andre. Omkring min 18 års fødselsdag var jeg nok lidt småforelsket i ham, og jeg er ret sikker på at det var gengældt. Så kom vi på Roskilde, hvor jeg slog op med Jonas, og “endelig” kunne vi være sammen.. Men det endte nu med at jeg hellere ville være sammen med Jonas. Søren blev faktisk rigtig ked af det, jeg kan huske han græd nede i lejren og jeg trøstede ham alt det jeg kunne. Men det var nu altså Jonas, jeg ville være sammen med. Vi kyssede dog lidt på Roskilde.. på min 18 års fødselsdag. Bagefter begyndte han at komme sammen med Katrine fra klassen, og jeg var meeega jaloux, men jeg sagde aldrig noget til nogen. Søren og jeg snakkede ikke sammen i omkring et halvt år. Der var ingen grund til at vi skulle. Men da de så slog op, havde Søren meget brug for at snakke, og vi var jo nu engang bedste venner og havde været det længe, så det var naturligt, at det var mig, han opsøgte. Vi fik snakket og fik det rigtig godt sammen igen en overgang. Vi kyssede til et par fester, men der var ikke noget i det. Han forvirrede mig meget, kan jeg huske. Engang i byen sagde han noget med, at det da aldrig havde været alvorligt mellem os to. Og det syntes jeg jo det havde, så det blev jeg faktisk rigtig ked af. Nu ved jeg dog godt, at han ikke mente det. Han har været rigtig glad for mig. På Roskilde 09 var jeg helt skudt i Jonas stadigvæk og så slet ikke Søren, men på Langelandsfestivallen hvor vi boede i samme lejr, kyssede vi faktisk en hel del. Vi sov også sammen. Det er underligt med Søren, for jeg føler mig ikke rigtig selvsikker over for ham. Jeg føler mig ikke fræk, sexet, som jeg kan føle over for alle mulige andre drenge. Det er som om at han kun kender min facade, og jeg er bange for at han vil grine, hvis jeg piller masken af.. Jeg ved ikke om det nogensinde vil ændre sig. Nå.. status nu er altså at han ser en pige, og jeg prøver lidt for sjov at udkonkurrere hende. Det kunne være meget nice at få et par kyssere af ham her i weekenden, for jeg ved at han ikke vil noget med pigen. Men intet er nogensinde sikkert mellem mig og Søren. Andet end at der altså vil være en verbal tiltrækning. Egentlig tror jeg ikke han tænder synderligt meget på mig, og jeg tænder faktisk heller ikke særlig meget på ham. Måske er det dét, der stopper os.

Well, og på lørdag holder jeg julefrokost for klassen her hjemme hos mig. Det bliver rigtig dejligt og hyggeligt. Lige hvor jeg skal få penge til alkohol fra, ved jeg ikke, men det er vel også bageteller, høhø.
Mit weekendønske er helt klart at blive dejlig fuld i morgen, ligne en million og møde Lars. Punktum.

Noget faldt mig ind idag – hvor er det længe siden at jeg sagt til nogen, at jeg elsker dem. Jeg har sagt det til Ragnhild og Helene et par gange, men ellers tror jeg vi skal helt tilbage til Jonas.. Jeg synes nu ikke jeg er bange for at bruge det eller noget, måske er jeg bare blevet mere bevidst om hvad det egentlig vil sige at elske nogen. Jeg er kommet ind i den dér frygtelige bølge, hvor jeg tvivler på om jeg nogensinde bliver forelsket igen. Selvfølgelig gør jeg det, men det føles ikke sådan lige nu. Jeg tænker meget på Jonas i de her dage, jeg kan ikke rigtig finde ud af hvorfor. Jeg savner ham lidt. Eller omsorg.. eller noget. forelskelsen måske. jeg kan huske den, som det var det igår. men det var det jo ikke ligefrem. Det er godt nok længe siden efterhånden. Egentlig vil jeg ikke sige, at jeg har travlt .. jeg kunne faktisk ikke rigtig se mig med en kæreste lige i øjeblikket. det er mere følelsen i maven, jeg savner. Men hvem gør ikke det, når den ikke er der? Måske er jeg også blevet lidt sart (på mine gamle dage, haha). Jeg har ikke lyst til at nøjes, og det er faktisk få ting, jeg overhoved giver en chance. Det tager tid at komme fra noget til noget andet. Godt nok er det længe siden alt det med Jonas, men er det mon stadig inden i mig? jeg kan ikke rigtig finde ud af det. “I don’t believe in quick fixes. Anything that comes easy, I don’t care to own”. Soo true. Hellere få dyrebare ting, end tusind værdiløse. Og i virkeligheden kan jeg ikke rigtig finde ud af, om jeg bør være stolt af mig selv over kun at have haft få værdifulde ting i mit liv frem for tusind værdiløse, eller om jeg måske bare er en smule flov over ikke at have oplevet så meget. Don’t know.. sådan nogle ting her, gør virkelig at jeg glæder mig til at komme laaangt væk.. fra Næstved!

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been interacting with SMS short code providers on the costs involved to buy one and usage for a particular mobile VAS application. Nowadays, short codes are used for VAS primarily (value added services-weather reports, stock market updates, news, ring-tones, wallpapers, marketing campaigns, product promotions, etc.)

Thought, I would present here what I got from those interactions. My interest in this is from an application developer’s point of view. Anyway, this as a FYI post which might help others looking out for same stuff. Information presented below is not specific to one SMS provider. That’s why some of the costs would be range than a single number.

Some terminologies

Short code: 5- 9 digits (56060, 5601234, etc)

Long codes: 10 digits (Just like our normal mobile numbers, but a national level number setup exclusively under short code usage)

Forwarding URL: Any SMS to a particular number could be forwarded to a URL, say a java servlet hosted on a server, with complete info, sender number, network, entire SMS content. This helps the application developer to use the keywords or ICICI bank staff to sort out into different buckets. From here, a reply could be sent back which could be a standard one like, “Thanks for contacting us. We will get back shortly” or a more customized one based on the SMS content like in downloading ringtones or wallpapers.

Shared code & Keywords: When a code is shared by more than 1 company based on keywords, say, if the SMS is ICICI Mumbai loan, then ICICI is the primary keyword, Mumbai comes as secondary keyword, and loan is the content part. Now, SMS provider would look out for those keywords and based on that, it is identified as one sent in regard to ICICI. In shared code, for each primary keyword, charges need to be paid.

Dedicated code: When a number say 56060 is used only by your company. Charges are higher than shared. Unlimited primary & secondary keywords. All the costs you find below are for dedicated only.

Cost & Time involved for setup, maintenance

1. 5 digit short code: As per the service providers, it would take almost 1 year to setup with upfront payment over 1 crore. Maintenance cost also comes huge. Or you could read this simply as ‘Affordable only for national players, like AIrtel, SBI, etc’. For every SMS sent by customer, a minimum of Rs. 3 is charged to customer. Can be changed, but involves money.
2. Long codes 6-9 digits: Costs 30k-15k for setup which could take 3-4 months and 30k-15k as monthly rent. For every SMS sent by customer, a minimum of Rs. 3 is charged to customer. If the sender is to be charged more than Rs. 3 then, setup costs goes up to 1 lakh and monthly rental of 50k.
3. Long codes 10 digit: Costs 10k-7k for setup which takes 2-3 months, and 10k-7k as monthly rent.

Free reply sms

In all the above 3 plans, the product/application owner gets to send 1 free SMS reply for every incoming SMS received except with 10 digit short codes. But here, you could tie up with a 3^rd party vendors. The rates could go down to 3-5 paise/sms for over 1 crore sms’s. Google, bulk sms providers India

Another interesting part is, our personal SIM cards can be inserted to a GSM modem and connected to a computer with RF serial cable and programmed to read the SMS’s sent to this number. But, not sure if it could be used for commercial purposes.

Deducting  money from sender: This is the most important & least regulated part in the whole process. TRAI should be doing something on this pretty soon if it needs Mobile VAS to gain growth.

1. Charge to pre-paid balance or bill (postpaid): Revenue sharing with operator which could eat up as much as 75% of profits. Maximum amount that could be charged via operator is around 15-20 rupees.
2. Using Java application: Connect online banking details for the 1^st time and use the same subsequently. No revenue sharing. No limit to amount that could be charged
3. IVR(Interactive-Voice-Response) technology: A SMS sent by customer/sender is followed up with a call where we punch in our credit/debit card info from which money could be deducted. No revenue sharing. No limit to amount that could be charged
4. Mobile/Online wallet: Cost is deducted from a pre-filled wallet. It works in exactly the same way as a  balance top-up for pre paid sim cards.

As far as I learnt, there is not a single company which has deals with all 24 telecom operators (as of Nov 2009), so, the application developer needs to establish a contract with each one of them initially. Although, it should not be as tough as it reads like. Initially the product may be launched only in metros or single state only. So, work involved could come down drastically.

Le vie di mezzo al solito sono bene accette, ma hanno perso quell’appeal che avevano fino a qualche anno fa. Oggi le parole d’ordine sembrano essere due: comfort e mobilità, due opposti che ben interpretano gli archetipi femminile e maschile. Questa questione ne mette in moto altre: parcheggiarsi o muoversi? campeggiare o itinerare? andare piano o veloci? Al di là dei luoghi comuni (non è vero che le donne si soffermano sulla cellula e gli uomini sulle motorizzazioni) sembra prevalere il trend del design e del comfort, coniugati a prestazioni di tutto rispetto. Molti assiomi cadono a pezzi: per esempio quello che vede i profilati mezzi poco adatti alle famiglie. Dopo Burstner ci pensa Laika a sfatare il mito del mansardato, con i suoi lettini basculanti, ideali per la prole al seguito. Comodi basculanti e bagni in coda anche per New Florence Camper, che rivede il design interno dei suoi furgonati e per Winghamm, ottimo il 540 per lo spazio sapientemente organizzato, con dinette molto spaziosa e comodo letto basculante. Tengono i prezzi, nonostante la crisi, anche se non si notano incrementi rispetto allo scorso anno. Modernissimi e stilosi gli interni dei Bavaria, il cui motorhome ha una bellissima camera in coda e una cucina molto spaziosa, per non parlare delle rifiniture del mobilio, veramente di gusto e qualità. Non si capisce perché il gusto non si trovi sui mastodontici camper americani, in cui un esterno innovativo, si scontra spesso con interni a dir poco un po’ demodé. Sempre lussuosi e off limits gli storici ed italianissimi Vas, personalizzati nei minimi dettagli. Un occhio di riguardo finalmente ai disabili e alle loro esigenze, con soluzioni mirate nella sezione “camper senza barriere”. La chicca di quest’anno sono i colori e le personalizzazioni: in controtendenza con il passato le tappezzerie degli interni prediligono la sobrietà e gli esterni si colorano e si arricchiscono di decori.

O mercado de publicidade móvel deve passar por grandes transformações nos próximos anos. Países da Ásia, sobretudo Japão e Coréia do Sul, estão avançados e os resultados já surgem. No Brasil, embora a modalidade de negócio ainda não tenha decolado, a Claro anuncia que, até o final do ano, estará com um modelo inovador, pelo qual o usuário será recompensado a cada peça publicitária que visualizar no aparelho.

A plataforma utilizada para esse tipo de abordagem é da norte-americana My Screen. Ela consiste na instalação de um aplicativo nos celulares – com consentimento do cliente – que enviará avisos de propaganda cada vez que o usuário encerrar uma chamada. Mesmo com a aplicação instalada, o consumidor poderá optar por assistir ou não a peça, fazer uma chamada, interagir e até repassar.

O modelo da My Screen é novo e de acordo com o presidente da Claro, João Cox, o Brasil será o segundo país no mundo a adotar a solução. O primeiro foi a Turquia que lançou o serviço recentemente. Trata-se de uma das novidades da operadora para este ano e é também algo que o executivo enquadra no pilar de inovação da companhia. “As marcas estão interessadas em conversar com o consumidor. A Claro está mais avançada e pró-ativa na busca dessas soluções (para mobile marketing)”, comenta.

Conforme explicou a diretora de serviço de valor agregado (VAS, da sigla em inglês), Fiama Zarife, levantamento feito pela operadora com os meios de publicidade móvel disponíveis atualmente – basicamente SMS – a aceitação do público passa dos 50%. “Não é algo intrusivo, respeitamos a questão da permissão”, avisa.

Am petrecut ziua intreaga in larg. A fost minunat si am vazut niste balene si niste delfini. Aceasta vacanta a inceput intr-un mod minunat.

Astazi l-am cunoscut pe Capitan care pare sa fie un om foarte dragut.

Astazi am petrecut o parte din zi la piscina. M-am jucat, deasemeni cu niste bile de golf, pe punte. Capitanul m-a invitat la masa lui pentru dinner. M-am simtit onorata si am avut un timp minunat. Capitanul este un gentleman foarte atent si atractiv.

M-am dus la Cazinoul vasului si am cistigat $80. Capitanul m-a invitat sa iau dinner-ul cu el in cabina lui. Am avut un dinner copios cu caviar si sampanie. El mi-a cerut sa stau peste noapte dar am refuzat. I-am spus ca nu-mi insel barbatul sub nici o forma.

Astazi m-am dus iarasi la piscina si m-am bronzat putin. Apoi m-am dus la Piano-Bar si am petrecut restul zilei inauntru. Capitanul m-a vazut si mi-a adus citeva bauturi. El este intr-adevar un om incintator. El mi-a cerut din nou sa-l vizitez peste noapte dar l-am refuzat. Atunci el mi-a spus ca daca nu petrec noaptea cu el, va scufunda vasul. Am fost stupefiata.

I talked about a different model of television here and the unique advantages here. Here, I just wanted to talk about the possible hurdles in that model

1. Cable operators: Practically, in India, they are a powerful albeit invisible lobby. Politicians are rumored to have their sticky little fingers in this business. The operational model lays waste to this middleman and they won’t go down without a fight

2. The dumb TV: Well, this is one of the biggest problems in the expected setup. For one, the service would have to be IP based and except for the higher-end televisions, televisions do not have their own IP or Internet address or any kind of unique identifier. Apple tried to create a smart box for the TV called as Apple TV. But that flopped because:

• It was configured to play only HDTV. Hence, normal resolution TVs would not work or create intensely grainy images
• Apple TV only displayed movies that were first downloaded on to your PC hence making it duplicating the effort required
• Limited format support.

If, however, we have a smarter set-up box to do some other operations, this kind of service could explode. These other operations would include:

1. Authentication: Already done by set up boxes for DTH or  cable
2. Profiling: Currently, a DTH set up box only acts as a filter blocking signals from some channels and allowing others. A profiler would basically allow you to create profiles for each member with an authentication protocol. It would track the profile’s viewing habits and log the same for further customizing the service. This is an implicit profiling pattern. The box would combine this data with the explicit profile (where the subscribers state what content they like to see or want to see)
3. Updating: The box would typically query the content server to check for any new content (episodes, songs, etc.) that have been updated in the server. This would be based on the profile (explicit / implicit) of the particular login id (unique identifier for the profile).
4. Advertising: This would work on a client-server basis. The advertiser would choose the content and the location (e.g. Bombay, Nagercoil, Dadar, if possible) and based on the IP address of the box, the advertisement would be correspondingly displayed.
5. Reaction: Part of (4), but like Google ads, ads which are ignored are subsequently removed from the system. This would help even the advertisers to choose which ads to broadcast and which are not worth the money spent on it.
6. Assistance in transactions: Not to get too detailed on this, but if we have a common pipe, the box can direct the customer to a site for purchasing items displayed in the ads.

Yes. In this world, the box is the centre piece.

3. Adoption: The toughest part. It would all hinge in how user friendly the interface is, how the pricing structure should benefit the subscriber, what technology is being used, e.g. I could recommend HDTV quality movies if I know that the subscriber is using a plasma or an LCD TV. The benefits of customization should benefit the customer first and only then the service provider.

4. Security: If I recommend a profile, I have to recommend that there should be adequate security controls and permission controls so that the personal habits of a person is not displayed for the world to see. Also, if the content is streaming, no subscriber should be allowed to hack the box to download the content resulting in copyright infringement.

5. Architecture: Joost has launched it own peer-to-peer technology for on-demand TV for desktops. Given, that PC penetration in India is abysmally low, a parallel paradigm would be required for television. A PC will just not do. The question is what would be more appropriate: A client-server model, mainframe or the brilliant P2P model.

Wait a minute ? Instead of a setup box, could I use a mobile phone as a profiler?

Jotak. Ingen fra S. Jeg glæder mig til jeg holder helt op med at tænke på ham. Der kan ikke være længe til.
Føler mig syg, gider ikke i skole i morgen. Pjækker første modul. Ja.
