Congratulations are in order for our executive director, Howard Jang. He recently received the VCC Alumni Award of Distinction. The award, given annually, honours a VCC graduate in recognition of outstanding achievements in their field of endeavour. The honour was given to him by the Music Department and he was nominated by Sal Ferreras, who is the department head.  The award acknowledges the time Howard spent there in the early 80s training as a double-bass performer in a new program called the Advanced Music Performance Diploma. Howard says, “The program was uniquely designed in that it provided me with the perfect environment to design a curriculum for myself  and to study and learn from a fabulous faculty and other musicians. It was very nurturing and exceptional.”

  • PA staff lined along tracks to the opening of new VCCs with PA flags and torch lights to usher guests and prevent anti-national elements’ disruption. Anaka Ragam (mobile cultural show) on lorry- stage and lion dance by PA staff themselves too.

• Kindergarten
  • 1^st Kindergarten at Gulega Road CC (Changi) during 1964
  • 6-week kindergarten Teaching Course was conducted by Ms P K Ma from Ministry of Education.
  • 2 trained teachers went to Sydney for 9-month Advanced Kindergarten Teachers’ Training Program.
  • PA kindergarten services were introduced to counter the improper kindergarten classes seen by the leftists and pro-Barisan Rural Residents’ Associations.

My Thoughts and Reflections

Kindergarten, PPD services and TV/ Radio/ newspapers at VCCs really benefited the villagers and provided a strong ground for community bonding and nation building.

Pada saat ini, kita sudah dapat bertransaksi melalui dunia maya, dan media yang sering digunakan oleh orang-orang untuk melaksanakan transaksi tersebut adalah paypal atau .

What is Matador Day?
Matador Day is kind of like Valencia’s homecoming. It’s the celebration of Valencia’s mascot the matador. Don’t ask me how they came about picking this and so on and so forth.

What have I done for Matador Day?
In the first couple of years of attending Valencia I have never actually *been* to the Matador Day activities…so to me this is something new. In PTK I kind of took over the process of creating our part for the day.

This year we have a Rock Star theme, so we were asked to devise an activity of some sorts with that theme in mind. Me being the music mogule I am. I came up with a “Name That Tune” activity. I put some lyrics of 50 popular rock songs on the back of nautical stars. People pick up a star and guess the song from reading a few lyrics of the song.

Also me and Tatiana came up with the idea of coming up with a few “Smart” rock stars, to kind of tie to the theme of being smart (PTK-wise). That was kind of hard, so I just looked up a few stars who actually graduated from college. I printed up some pictures and put it on a trifold. I think it came out pretty cool.

Jim Morrison and Rivers Cuomo are some of the people that made it through college!!

Out here in L.A. heads are convinced that they dictate trends, this is not exclusive to any particular genre, and hip hop fashion is very much included in this dogmatism. Little do they know that pretty much everything over here is a watered down version of what NYC has been doing for months, if not years. Take for one this “west coast” fashion trend of skinny jeans and familiar fluorescent 80’s retro. While the New Boyz are getting caked out via their hit single “you’re a jerk”, that is much ado about the aesthetics of the group rather than the content, over in NYC The Galaxy Riders aka The Alien Crew done did that image in ‘06. Mind you TGR are not rappers, though your average white guy on the street wouldn’t be able to make that distinction. What they are is a fashion collective that is heavily influenced by two things: retro hip hop and New York City. Peep the video by Current News on their latest intergalactic escapades, and peep the ill photo shoot I came across in Dripbook of the the two main members of ‘Riders posing with the illest backdrop possible, New York au naturale.
