If you are not one of the nearly one million people who have purchased and read Sarah Palin’s new book, Going Rogue, An American Life, then you are missing out on one of the really great treats and treasures of our time.

One doesn’t actually read Going Rogue, they experience it. You experience Sarah Palin’s life as she takes you from a young girl growing in the rugged Alaska wilderness through her days as a championship basketball player, a city councilwoman, mayor, oil and gas regulator, reformer, Governor, and vice presidential candidate. All told in Sarah’s wonderfully enjoyable way.

The book is so much more than just an account of Sarah Palin’s life though. Rush Limbaugh has called it “truly one of the most substantive policy books” that he has ever read, and that it is. However, you won’t find a single chart, graph, or bullet point anywhere in the book. Going Rogue is a book of philosophy, and book of strategy. Going Rogue is a book of great inspiration, and of great triumphs.

If up to this point you have only relied on reviews from the old, corrupt Obamacentric media, to tell you about Sarah’s book, then you have been poorly served. Most of the dishonest media will have you believe this is some sort of vindictive “tell all” or “score settling” book. Whatever it takes to sell papers and get ratings, I suppose.

The truth is, Sarah tells her story, all of her story, but is very generous, even to those who served her poorly, or caused her grief. If you buy the book looking for fireworks, or to see her dishing up dirt, you’ll be sorely disappointed. This just isn’t Sarah Palin’s style. Frankly we have written more extensively and brutally about those in Alaska who have attacked her and her family than Sarah herself does.

Sarah touches on the attacks by the hate bloggers, and she mentions the ties they have to Barack Obama through his campaign chief-of-staff, now White House adviser, Pete Rouse. She talks about the fictitious “Troopergate” affair, and how things completely changed once Obama’s team got involved. She spends a few pages discussing how Obama’s involvement, and how Chicago thug politics poisoned the once friendly atmosphere of Alaska politics.

Sarah also spends some time discussing the McCain campaign. Again, if you are looking for mud slinging, you are going to be highly disappointed. Sarah tells her side of the story, discusses the events in great detail. She takes responsibility for her errors, and points out where she felt things could have been done better. Not a vindictive word to be found.

Instead, Sarah takes you through the process of being chosen as a candidate, and running for Vice President. It’s a fascinating behind the scenes look at how things work.

Sarah has nothing but high praise for John McCain in the book. You know that she has a great admiration and respect for the Senator and his family. This comes through loud and clear every time she speaks of John and Cindy.

The same can be said for the much talked about Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson interviews. She talks about them, tells you where she went wrong, how she felt they were a bad idea to start with, then moves on to more important things.

You’ll find Sarah to be frank about things all throughout the book. This is a woman who is comfortable with herself and has no problem talking about the way she sees things. This is a strong, determined woman, who is also very open and candid as she tells her story.

Most of the book centers on her family and her remarkable life. Sarah takes us through her pregnancy with her beautiful son Trig. Here she lets us in on the intimate details, her inner most thoughts and feelings. You feel the love that Sarah has for all of her children in this book, and her great love and admiration for Todd as well. You can’t help but admire Todd as a wonderfully strong husband and father. A real man’s man, who supports Sarah in every way.

You’ll also be pleased to learn that Sarah’s wicked sense of humor shows up all throughout the book, making a good read into a great read.

This is what you really get with this book, a look at one of America’s most amazing women, up close, personal, and in her own words. You get a look at Alaska. You feel Sarah’s great love for her state, of the land, and of nature. You feel the magnificence of Alaska through her words.

Regular readers know that my background is not in politics, but in sales and management. While I’ve enjoyed reading books of all kind, I most enjoy books dealing with business, written by those great masters like Lee Iaccoca, Jim McKay, and Bob Lutz. Going Rogue is certainly this type of book. Going Rogue is truly a book on successful management, as well as business and political strategy.

If you read Sarah’s book, you will find it to be just as Limbaugh describes it, a substantial book on policy. Oh, she doesn’t go on and on for pages about how she will do things, there are no charts or bullet points. No lectures.

Instead, you’ll find that every page is a lesson in philosophy, policy, and strategy. All of this is intertwined with Sarah’s accounting of her life.

This is what makes Going Rogue one of those rare treasures of a book:

If you are a fan, who simply wants to know more about this remarkable woman, you will come away pleased and fulfilled. Sarah takes you through her life, and her style of writing makes you really experience it all. Her words have you visualizing the events as they unfold. You will come away with great admiration for Sarah and her family. You find these are truly nice people. Regular folks who you would like to have as your friends and neighbors.

If you are someone who is more interested in what makes Sarah tick, politically, well, you are certainly in for a treat! Again, there are no charts or graphs, but throughout the book, Sarah’s philosophy on life, and politics comes through. If you read Going Rogue, you will learn how she governed in Alaska, and how she would govern as President. How she looks at the world. What her policies on the economy, national security, and energy are.

If you are not already familiar with Sarah’s significant record of accomplishments, you will be by the time you are through. You will learn why Sarah had such a high approval rating (mid 80’s) among some of the most independent minded voters in America. You’ll learn why the democrat/communists, as well as the Republican “elites” fear her, and why millions support her.

You’ll also learn that Sarah is not some far right ideologue. Instead you’ll find that common sense is what rules the day. You’ll find someone who is willing to work with anyone, as long as they are working toward a common goal, and some good old fashioned common sense is being employed. You learn that Sarah Palin is someone who knows how to get things done.

Something else, you’ll learn that Sarah Palin is a bold leader. Sarah is not someone who is afraid to do big things, or afraid to do things differently to get results, and her record shows she gets results.

In the end, if you don’t read another book this year, you should read Going Rogue. This book is a pure joy to read, and you will find yourself not wanting to put it down. You will find Sarah to be likable, and inspiring. After all, this is a woman who was literally raised in a log cabin on the rugged landscape of Alaska, who has become one of America’s brightest shining stars.

Going Rogue, like Sarah Palin herself, is a real American treasure.

Sarah Palin dropped out of a 5k race on Thanksgiving Day in Kennewick, Washington The former vice presidential candidate who quit as  Alaska Governor clams she quit this race because she wanted to avoid the crowds that were waiting for her at the end.  Rather contradictory when consider the money worshiping terrorist (which is what she is) announced that she would be running the race on Twitter.

Palin was 1 of about 3,000 participants.  A local paper reported that her presence drew a "mass of onlookers." Much like an automobile accident during rush hour.

QVC host Lisa Robertson, QVC vice president of marketing and programming Doug Rose and HSN executive vice president of programming Bill Brand were all quoted.

A couple of aspiring reality-TV stars from Northern Virginia appear to have crashed the White Houses state dinner Tuesday night, penetrating layers of security with no invitation to mingle with the likes of Vice President Biden and White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Ok, so let me get this straight.

I have to nearly undress to go through a metal detector at the airport. I daily get interrogated by U.S. Marshalls when I come through the federal building where I work. I actually once had my Starbucks coffee cup inspected (not kidding).

Oh, but this couple can just stroll all up in a party with the president of the United States. No invitation. No background check. No clearance. No one inspecting THEIR cup of coffee. They can take photos with the Vice President and Chief of Staff. They can post pictures from the party on Facebook.

I on the other hand can’t bring my Blackberry into the Federal Building WHERE I HAPPEN TO WORK BY THE WAY because it has a camera on it.

What if Sarah Palin and Levi Johnston are secretly in cahoots as part of some crazily genius plot to sell her book?
It’s entirely plausible.

Palin’s not the brightest bulb in the pack, but as a (former) chief executive of one of our fine United States, she’s got to have more media smarts than she’s let on in the past. And, after all, she does have to sell that memoir. She needs cold hard cash to erase her legal debt and establish herself as a viable conservative Presidential campaign contender in 2012.

A behind-the-scenes collaboration between Sarah Palin and her would-be son-in-law could work, namely because you don’t get one of them without the other. First, there’s the rather obvious DNA linkage between them. But it goes further: whenever we hear Levi talking about being a regular guy who likes to hunt and drive his truck, it’s as if Palin’s image consultants are whispering in our ear.

Then there’s the fact that conflict sells, and the Palin-Johnston narrative smacks of it. At the end of the day, both parties in this battle know that it’s in their best financial interests to keep sparring, at least until the book tour is over. Second to being the most horrendously unprepared potential Vice President in this nation’s history, Palin’s ongoing drama with her grandbaby-daddy is the best storyline she’s got going. And she knows it.

Finally, Johnston advances Palin’s policy positions – well, one of them, anyway — better than any ad she could buy. The press has had a field day with the things he’s done, from claiming that Palin has joked about having a baby with Downs Syndrome to posing nude for Playgirl. The buffoonish Johnston is a walking public service announcement for the value of abstinence.

If my hunch is correct and Palin and Johnston really are working in tandem, it’s probably just as well.  One thing upon which they both agree is that family matters.  Considering the sad spectacle the press has made out of their lives – due in large part to their own choices and actions – their family ties will need to be that much stronger.

Prerequisite for being a Presidential candidate. I feel there needs to be an amendment to our US Constitution.
I believe that anyone running for President and anyone selected for Vice-President and anyone that is Speaker of the House, must must must:
(1) Be honorably discharged by the American Military. Having served a minimum of four years.
(2) Pass the same scrutiny and background investigation to qualify for a simple Secret Security Clearence.

You cannot responsibly be the Commander-in-Chief of the worlds greatest super power, if you don’t know a damn thing about the military.
If you’ve never been in a Boot Camp, you likely have little discipline or logical military thinking. You probably can’t think on you feet or make timely decisions as well as a GI.

You only have Acorn, a committee consciousness (that way you don’t have to take the blame for decisions you don’t make) and an entitlement mentality.

This doesn’t limit anybody with political ambitions, even obma could qualify under these rules. Yes, if you’re going to serve, then serve.

I’ve had a SSC, it no big deal if you keep a respectable life.

Imagine what a person could do, having the ability to control or know Top TOP Secrets.
What could they do with that info, during or after they leave office?

I remember a news story of hilary (who did not hold any office) had illegal copies of IRS or (fbi?) files of Republicans in her possession when bill was in office. She was promoting her brand of health care then. Was she thinking about pressuring someone ?

So if 1 & 2 had been in place way back then, that would have never happened.

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s release of  the Sarah Palin autobiography, “Going Rogue: An American Life”,  a bombshell has hit the rumor mill.

Speculation has been running rampant that the former Alaska Governor will allegedly pose for Playboy magazine in what can only be described as a surprising move for this 45 year old mother of five.

“It’s a no brainer if you think about it,” said political insider Joel Kaazi during a high profile book release party for “Going Rogue” yesterday in Los Angeles.

“She’d net millions for a Playboy photo shoot and it would raise her profile higher than absolutely anything else she could do right now.

“Let’s face it, she’s America’s number one MILF and with Newsweek running their latest issue with Palin in sexy jogging shorts, I think the line in the sand has already been crossed.”

But not everyone is rushing to welcome the move, a gamble which is seen by some as political suicide.

“I can’t even tell you what I thought of when I heard talk of a possible Playboy photo spread, I was just mortified,” said Eleanor Partridge, head of the influential Partridge Institute, a right-wing think tank in Boise, Idaho.

“Mrs Palin has been an inspiration to conservatives ever since she stood up to those Godless Democrats in the Presidential debates but nudity? I simply can’t believe there is any truth to this at all.”

With the GOP on the rise but still stigmatized by eight years of the Bush Administration, some see this possible move by the media savvy Palin camp as a way to make a fresh start as an Independent leading up to a possible run for President in 2012.

Okay folks, with all the talk about Sarah Palin lately in the news with the release of her new book “Going Rogue”, I simply must talk about this.  While this woman is extremely good looking, she lacks something in the political arena.  That something is EXPERIENCE.  It’s pretty clear to me now that she was placed on the McCain ticket simply for her gender and not for her qualifications.  Although she is an intelligent woman and very articulate, it’s clear that she was told what to do and what to say on the campaign trail.

It was perfectly obvious to me during the elections last year that Palin was added to the McCain ticket for her gender alone.  Didn’t you find it odd that the McCain camp wanted to wait until after Obama announced his VP pick before announcing their own?  They were wanting to see if Obama would pick up Hillary Clinton.  In which case, they probably would’ve chosen Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney as their VP pick.  They instead chose Sarah Palin once they heard that Joe Biden had been chosen.  They wanted the female vote.  Their hope was to sway the women who wanted Hillary to win in the primaries.  It was actually a smart move, because there were a lot of women out there that felt dissed by the Obama camp when he chose Joe Biden over Hillary Clinton for Vice President.  It almost worked.

Fortunately for us, the American people stuck to their guns and voted the right man into office.

Now, about this book.  I haven’t actually read it and I don’t intend to.  I’ve heard the preliminary reviews and it seems like it’s a book that gives an inside look into the life of an inexperienced individual on a sweeping campaign to the White House.  The election was clearly larger than anything she had ever been a part of and I saw her struggle with that, as many of you did.

I don’t think Sarah Palin is a bad person.  I think she’s a little quirky and a little misguided, but I think she has a good heart.  I also think that she’s totally harmless.  Oprah Winfrey asked her in an interview if she would run for President in 2012.  I personally don’t see her actually winning an election again.  I think that people love her for her beauty and her simple, everywoman nature, but I don’t think they like her for her politics.  She has slipped out of the political scene and into the celebrity box.

I’ll get this out there from the get go.

I am a Democrat.  Fiscally conservative, but let me tell you there are some basic rights that I believe in and I think the Democratic ticket supports these rights in general with more gusto and steadfastness than the Republican party.

Regardless of my party affiliation, I appreciate and will vote for an candidate on either side that is bright, forward thinking, honest, and hardworking.  For example – Mitt Romney – love the guy.  His business savvy would be a great benefit to the country  in this economic downturn – yes I can admit it even though I am an Obama Mama.

In the same breath – there are some individuals in the political “field” that I can’t stand.  Public enemy number one for me is Sarah Palin. I mean seriously, I understand it shes cute – but how in the heck did she make it onto the ballot as the VP candidate for the last election, and why is anyone still listening to her babble? The woman makes me want to grit my teeth every time I hear her answer any questions… I think she is completely self serving, dishonest and ignorant.  I know some of you all may hold a different view point – but this is mine.

I remember when she was first announced as the VP candidate – I thought the McCain Team was being stealthy – I am all about woman power and couldn’t wait to hear what she had to say (plus I took comfort thinking that if the man I was voting for lost we would have our first female VP).  The next thing I remember is hearing the Couric interviews, and my mouth dropping to the floor…. seriously?

This book shes putting out “Going Rouge” makes me scratch my head…. Going Rouge from what Palin? From the ethics committee that was breathing down your neck, from actually carrying out a full term as Governor, or from single handily destroying the McCain campaign? I’m not sure here.

The Politics Society will be hosting the weekly ‘Pint and Politics’ meeting at Coopers on the corner of Great Western Road and Bank Street.on Tuesday November 17th at 8pm. Our topic of discussion this week will focus on Capital Punishment and punishment in a more broad sense. Is Capital Punishment ever justified? and if so under what circumstances? What right does the state have to enforce punishment upon its citizens? Some of you may have heard about The Execution of Gary Glitter, a programme imaging that the death penalty is reintroduced in the UK, also the Washington Sniper, John Allen Muhammad was executed last week. Nidal Hassan, a US army psychiatrist murdered 13 US soldiers last week, should he face the death penalty. The esteemed Paul Graham, shall be joining us and he has invited his master’s class to join us too. So get yourself along, and get involved with the Paul Graham Masters Class!

Scottish Parliament Trip

Sarah  Palin wrote a book, and to our collective surprise, it was not a pop-up book or a coloring book, or even written in crayon.  It was a real book, with words and punctuation and chapters.

Wow.  Good job.  You finished something.  Have another 15 minutes of fame on me.

And maybe you can milk that photo on Newsweek for a couple more, too.

I’ve started this rant a couple times now, but it usually makes my brain sad and I stop.  Originally, I got all worked up over Balloon Boy and his parents, although calling them parents is an insult to those of us who actually raise our children, not use them as an audition tape.   That someone would be so desperate to be ‘famous’ that they’d perpetrate such an obvious hoax was beyond me.  And how did I know it was a hoax?  Because I, like so many of us, have carried heavy things in a sack.  Two gallons of milk in a plastic bag is a footrace from the car to the kitchen.  Will I make it before the milk spills and I have to go back to the store?  Now, extrapolate from the groceries to a homemade weather balloon.  Where was the heavy thing in that sack?  Hiding in the garage?  Whatever.  Maybe a decent family court judge will sentence mom and dad to a lifetime of parenting classes.

Then it was on to Jon Gosselin, the most famous sperm donor ever.  I get that being famous is cool and all, but grow a fucking spine already!!  Your wife was a meshuggenah shrew.  People hate you for walking out on your 8 children.  Well, don’t sit around looking for pity.  Tell them all to fuck off, it’s not their lives.  That’s what I’d do, but I’m not on TV, I don’t need to be likable.  My tipping point was his third straight appearance on the Insider. For three nights this tool sat there while the Insider’s staff and guest bullies ripped him seven ways from Sunday, essentially taking a hate-dump on his soul.  And he took it!!   Three nights in a row!!  The price I pay to watch Craig Ferguson, oy.

Which brings me back to Governor Palin.  Again.  Simply put, will this woman not go away?  Of course not, she was famous for awhile and fame, if we’ve learned anything from her reality show compadres, is pretty hard to walk away from.  And yes, I do see her as just another reality show contestant.  Plucked from relative obscurity and given a shot to be leader of the free world (or a shot at being one heartbeat away from leading the free world).  All she needed was your vote, polls open all day Tuesday.

I can’t help but see her in the same light as a Jon Gosselin.   Our media has seen to that.  Real news and fake news are treated equally.  I’d posit that the fake news is being given more weight these day, but I’m a cynic.  Sarah Palin, like Balloon Boy, Jon Gosselin, Joe Millionaire, Richard Hatch and countless others are fake news.  Fluff pieces.  At one time, the Governor was real news, she was the Vice Presidential candidate, after all.  But campaigns end and instead of going back to Alaska and padding her resume, she up and quit the only job that gave her credibility.  Now she’s just out there trying to stay relevant, which, as a goal, slip further and further away every time she opens her mouth.  The lights are on, but she’s not at home.  Her will is not her own.  To paraphrase Robert Palmer, she, like everyone else mentioned above, might as well face it, they’re addicted to fame.

And somehow, you and I are the worse for it.

So apparently Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade was involved in an accident on the west side of Manhattan earlier this evening when an NYPD cruiser hit a taxi.  Nobody was seriously injured, but what makes this all the more interesting is that yesterday morning a car in New Mexico collided with a police officer when he tried to maneuver his car around the police cars blocking a side street so Biden could pass.
