Throughout 2012 we are sharing an illustration with you every week to help you to re-imagine the fut

Throughout 2012 we are sharing an illustration with you every week to help you to re-imagine the future that you choose. For the seventh week of 2012 , we are sharing Think Act Vote (?!X) Founder Amisha Ghadiali‘s future. We picked this one as it speaks of love, respect and creativity, and this week was host to Valentines Day, which we love how the guys at Holstee have reimagined as Generosity Day, “one day of sharing love with everyone, of being generous to everyone, to see how it feels and to practice saying “Yes.” Let’s make the day about love, action and human connection.”

Amisha Ghadiali’s Future:

I choose a future that is driven by love and respect not fear and greed. We’ll all be on the same side and working together in support of each other. We’ll be using our creative energy to solve the world’s problems and we’ll be having fun whilst we’re doing it. The future I choose is one where it is sexy and cool to care about the planet and its people.

Illustrated by Vicky Fallon:

I chose Amisha’s future as I felt automatically drawn to it – creatively and personally. This is where my inspiration came from. I created two girls on each side of the world to represent how we need to support one another and work together. By showing them painting was my interpretation of how we can solve this with our creative energies whilst having fun! Amisha outlined her future so well in just a few words, I aimed to create the same in my artwork in a clear, bold and exciting way.

Vicky is a UK based freelance illustrator specialising in fashion. She graduated with a BA in Fashion Design and is currently working on projects out in California. Vicky has collected a number of awards for illustration including work selected by designer James Long, Ben de Lisi in conjunction with Lypsyl UK and BigDance2010.

She has recently worked for fashion designers including Alexander McQueen, designed t-shirt prints for commercial brands, illustrations printed onto bags for New Designers 2011 and also for London theatres. She has worked for a number of charities and worthy causes and so is delighted to be taking part for ?!X., where she has brought to life the words of ?!X founder Amisha Ghadiali. In addition she has created some additional artwork for the futures project. She also co-owns an ‘upcycling’ brand which promotes the use of using old fabrics and clothes to create new and lovely items.

?!X: What’s the Future You Choose?

VF: The future I choose is a healthier one. Organic, free range and natural foods are more accessible. The future is greener in everything we do, choose, create, see and live in. We are on each others side, we inspire each other and help each other. The future I choose is about paying it forward!

?!X: What’s a ‘think’ to create this future?

?!X: What’s an ‘act’ to create the future you choose

VF: I believe in making. Make as much as you can – it means so much more. My craft company I co-found uses recycled objects making them into new, quirky products. Make your Christmas presents this year, it means a lot more to people when you tell them you made in yourself! Upcycle your old clothes and make bags, cushions, table runners, chair covers, new clothing. Think of the money you’ll save as well as your contribution to the future you are creating!

?!X: What’s a ‘vote’ to create the future you choose?

VF: Sustainable Food is a brilliant website about how eating sustainable foods is not only good for us but contributing to a better planet. Eating the right food is such a complex system and every day we are told what we can and can’t eat, but if we knew exactly what is in the products we are putting into our mouths we can contribute to not only our future but the future of others.

?!X: Future Soundtrack – What song would you take with you into the future?

VF: Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Under The Bridge.

We thought it would be nice to have a little refresh on our homepage, as so many of you come back every day to check out new Futures Interviews. So we asked Award-winning artist Vicky Fallon to do a piece of illustration for us, and this one includes the questions and ideas from our Futures Interviews. We have placed this as our header image for now, and we know it’s a bit of a tease as you can’t see all the amazing detail. So here is it nice and big. Can you find all the questions? The illustration below is her interpretation of our Futures Project.
