And [the Lord] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness

And [the Lord] said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:53-57)

Eleven years ago today, we delivered a stillborn child (at 5 months gestation.) As this year, it was the end of Thanksgiving weekend. I was aware on Friday of that weekend that I couldn’t remember feeling her move since the day before Thanksgiving. At first I just brushed the thought of trouble away, blaming it on being too busy to notice. But by Saturday morning, I was certain that something was terribly wrong, and a trip to the hospital and my doctor’s ultrasound test confirmed my fears. Dr. Parnell handled the situation with tenderness and respect. Soon after, I was admitted to the hospital and we began the process of inducing to deliver.

The next morning, Sunday, the baby was delivered, and Dr. Parnell gently laid her on my bed. He explained that the umbilical cord had strangled her. And then he showed us her left hand. It wasn’t as fully-formed as the right, which led him to speculate about other more hidden problems. This was not an attempt to present this event as a blessing of being spared the care and keeping of a less-than-perfect child; he was simply giving us the whole picture. I’ve always appreciated his candor and respect. He and the nurse left us with her for a while. We both held her: she was so small, barely past the length of my hand. Then we parted with her, and I was taken to a room to recover and spend the night. I went home the next day, not with a baby in my arms, but with a little blue satin-covered box which contained mementos of our experience. It seemed odd and sad at the time, but a few times over the years, having that box has been a comfort.

Blessings abounded in the days and weeks that followed: the goodness of family and friends, the support of church family, the generosity of people with real answers to material needs (a burial plot given to us by my dear Aunt Dorothy; a headstone given by my sister Amy) and the very real comfort of coming home that first day to children who, even at their young ages, somehow knew how to treat me and love me and need me (some credit here may go to Grandmommy, who took care of them during those days I was absent.) I was very grateful for our littlest one, Bess, who was just barely two years of age. What a comfort and a joy to hold her!

Because we believed (and still do believe) that an unborn child is fully human, created in the image of God, Brian and I knew that we needed to plan a funeral, and that we needed to name the baby. Thinking of the verses above gave us her name: Victoria Grace. We’ve never shortened her name, as we did those of our other children. We’ve always called her by the full appellation. It seems necessary and right: it says something about her short life here, about our response to her death, and most importantly, about God in the midst of it all. His grace IS sufficient, and He has proven that to me many times over the years. I look forward to meeting Victoria Grace someday, when and where there is NO death but only life eternal.

I read that T.O.P was offered another acting role for the movie ‘Zero Plus’ and that the initial statement was that due to his hectic schedule, [which is does look hectic] he turned down the role… or his company thought it best that he turn down the role. The reason? YG the man himself, issued a statement:

“What was released through the press is completely different from the truth. We are currently looking for another Big Bang member, since we believed T.O.P. is not suitable for that specific role. We did consider T.O.P. at first for Song Ji Na’s new drama which YG will be producing, Zero Plus, as a student who dreams to be a musical actor. However, we believed T.O.P. the rapper is not fitting for the role of a student. It is true that T.O.P.’s schedule is very hectic as an actor and a member of Big Bang, but we would never reject a role for Song Ji Na’s drama with the excuse of a busy schedule.”

[you know how much I like to cook up stuff like this, so don't mind me : )] I’d love to see any of the other boys going for an acting role, as I reckon they’d do a spiffy job, just like TOP hyung is doing right now ^^

The Turkey Trot is complete. I finished! The whole 6.2 miles and despite my fears and concerns abo

The Turkey Trot is complete. I finished! The whole 6.2 miles and despite my fears and concerns about getting pulled off the course due to time constraints, I was not pulled! YES!

Here is the story. Wednesday night after work, I went to Jen’s house to stay the night. Our friends Virg and Ingrid had come from GR to be our race fans and were picking up our race packets so we wouldn’t have to do it in the morning. I was incredibly nervous and as you may remember from the triathlon, I get extremely chatty when nervous. Poor Jen. I am sure she simply endures me during these times! We went to dinner, came back and prepared our race day clothes/bags.

Ipods? check

Shoes? check

New running shirt (yes I succumbed and bought a technical shirt designed to keep me warm on a cold day)- check

pants-check…..you get the idea.

Then I had to try everything on together. Yes, as much as I deny some of my girliness, it is coming out more and more. So I tried everything on together to make sure that it fit and was comfortable and all that.

The night before, trying everything on!

My new shirt is a “base layer” shirt and my official race shirt (which I can usually NEVER wear) is over top! Yeah, so it’s a little tight, so what…

By some miracle, I was in bed by 9:30 and asleep by 10:00. However, I had all sorts of crazy dreams again. I think I am going to follow Coach in this regard. This time I had crazy dreams about being late and missing the race. So I woke up about every hour to check the time. ugh!

My alarm goes off and before long I am already chatting away to Jen. On any other day, chatting at 5:30 AM would be unheard of for me…but what can I say? Poor Jen, I hope she can forgive me. I really don’t think I was as bad as on triathlon day though. At least she didn’t have to escape into the shower this time.

After dressing and grabbing our stuff and some breakfast, we headed outside, into the cold, dark, rainy morning. Seriously?? We were expecting cold. In fact, Jen insisted on us wearing scarves so we could breathe in warm air…and that would prevent us from going into cardiac arrest. (Hey I just do what the nurse tells me to do!) At some point I just prayed. Seriously God, this is going to be hard enough…can it just NOT rain?

By the time we got downtown, a mere 20 minutes later, the rain had stopped. But it was brutally cold. I should have been a little more specific or stingy in my request for no rain and a temperature degree raise!

Pre-race with Ingrid and Jen-Yes it is THAT cold!

We got there super early. Found parking easily and headed over to Cobo Hall. People were in all sorts of costumes and they were running in them! I saw several giant turkeys, a number of elves, a guy in a speedo (that was frightful!), a few Santa Clauses, many superhero’s, and a “good” guy (superhero) chasing a “bad” guy. These two actually did the whole race like this. Chasing each other like a giant game of tag! But the ultimate costume was a group of 13 people. 12 reindeer, one of them being Rudolph and Santa. They were all tied together with “reins” and they ran the whole thing as a group. It was nuts!

We now had an hour to wait before the race began.

Pre-race, getting ready to head to the starting line

Jen and I had talked about the fact that with the time constraints on the race we may not be able to finish it. I know I am a slow runner. In fact some runners might dare say I am not a runner at this point because I don’t run a certain pace. I say, I will own my race/run and you own yours. Jen insisted that I would out run her and leave her in the dust. I insisted the same of her. In the end, we both agreed that we would stick together no matter what. Well, in the first mile, it was obvious that for Jen to keep pace with me, she would have to slow WAY down. To have her do that means that she is running for me and not herself and I wanted her to own her own race and run it for her. She wasn’t running this race with me like Coach ran the triathlon 5k with me. He came to that one for the purpose of keeping me going, of being a Coach. Jen and I actually signed up independently of the other, then asked the other to join. She was running for her, not for me. So after about the third time of her getting a little ahead and then falling back I just told her to go ahead. She did!! YES! GO JEN GO!!!

The morning turned out beautiful. I think God decided to shine some grace down on us because by the time we headed to the starting line, the sun had risen and the temperature had gone up too. It felt like a great day for a run! As we ran through the streets of downtown Detroit, I just couldn’t believe I was attempting this. I couldn’t believe how nice a morning it was. Such grace for us, I am certain God planned it for us to be this way!

I had so many thoughts as I ran. First, I was filled with excitement as I ran with this massive amount of people. Then later as I passed the 2 mile marker (the only mile marker I actually saw) I noticed that the crowds were much thinner on my side of the street, as they were all heading back down the other side already! At this point I kept thinking about me, 2 years ago, and how everything was ok. I never want to go back to “ok” again!

Then I approached the point where I needed to turn. Going left meant I was only doing the 5k and turning right meant I was fully committed to the 10k. For a brief second I was afraid I would accidentally go the wrong way! Then I thought about actually intentionally going the wrong way. I wasn’t sure I could do another 3.1 miles. I was beginning to doubt myself. Then I thought about Jen and her long training process. I couldn’t make her do a 10k by herself when she has the same doubts and fears as I! Then I thought about my post race report to Coach, Aaron, Adam and the host of others waiting to hear how I did, and I did NOT want to tell them I gave up without trying. But mostly, the biggest deciding factor was that I did not want to disappoint myself. I did not want to face myself Friday morning knowing I gave up without trying. I would rather go all out and at least attempt fully what I said I wanted to do and risk getting pulled off the course because of time rather than take the easy route and for sure cross the finish line. I was never more proud of myself than when the young volunteer looked at my bib, then looked at me and shouted “10K this way!” and I went that way. Going big or going home! Yep, that is me! All the way Baby!

As I headed down this stretch of Michigan Avenue, the crowds got even thinner on my side of the street. And now, as I passed the others coming the other direction, many would cheer me on. I looked behind me and realized there was NO ONE in sight behind me. As far as I could tell, I was the last runner. Many would cross the center line to high five me. It was crazy! Soon I too was on my way back down Michigan, this time I could only see one or two runners in front of me. I was pretty much alone on Michigan except for the race officials who were directing us where to go.

At one point, I was approaching the final water station and I just knew that there wouldn’t be any water left. Seriously 12000 people had come before me! I looked ahead and saw the volunteers sweeping the cups off the street. They were all working hard. One hottie looked up, saw me coming and looked surprised. He set his broom down though. Poured me a cup of water and held it out, waiting for me! He was my hero of the day and I told him so!

I headed back into the downtown area and now I am passing runners again, except this time, they are on their way to their cars or to the parade. They too cheered me on, assuring me the finish line was just around the corner. LIARS!!!

It was 4 more corners!

I turned onto the street that takes me to Cobo Hall and while I KNEW the map in my head, I kept thinking, “I just have to get to that building and that is it!”

Except it was uphill! Darn those race planners!! All sorts of cheering going on and as I finally got to Cobo Hall, I hear a guy on his phone as he pulls the cones away. “alright, the last 10k’er just came in, I am removing the road blocks!”

Seriously.

I turn the corner in front of Cobo expecting to see the Finish line.

But I don’t. I am told it is just around the corner.

It wasn’t.

I ran another 3 blocks to another corner, where I was told it was just down the hill.

It wasn’t.

It was down the hill, around the corner, through a dark, unlit tunnel, across another stretch and finally back to Cobo Hall where they had the finish line set up. (although they were beginning to tear it down!)

Thank God, Ingrid met me on the final down hill and ran through the tunnel with me. She said she would stay with me for a little bit, then sprint ahead to get me on camera crossing the finish line!

And that is exactly what happened. Video will be posted as soon as I get it and figure it out!

Jen and Virg were nowhere to be found. They had cut through Cobo Hall to try and see me coming and completely missed me! Oh well!

When it was all done, none of us wanted to watch the Parade. We wanted food and to sit. Sooooo we went for breakfast!

oh yeah, I found out later…I wasn’t dead last. 2 others came in after me! My official chip time was 1:46 minutes. The clock time was 1:47:58. My worst fear did not happen. I did not get pulled off the course! But I was prepared to argue, to cry and if need be to out run whoever was sent to pull me off, if that happened. I was gonna finish that race by any means necessary!

As you have read on my blog,You have seen references to “Unconditional Love”.Jesus does loves us unconditionally that even though while we were yet sinners,He died for us.But to really experience the true meaning of love of Jesus is to recognize that you were born a sinner.Sin is a disease we all are born with. The results of sin separates us from the hope of spending Eternity with Jesus in Heaven. Those who die with the sin disease will end up in hell and be tormented for eternity. The proof of Unconditional Love of Jesus comes into play that He Loves us and doesn’t want anyone or the whosoever to suffer that horrible fate of hell.Jesus came to pay for the penalty of sin.Jesus loves us that much..to die in our place. He was bruised for our transgressions,He suffered and was nailed to a Cross to free us from the penalty of sin.We must repent and ask Jesus to forgive us and come into our heart and lives.Wow,once you accept Jesus as Your Savior,You will be with Him in Heaven and until He calls you Home,Jesus will be your best friend and change your life with peace and love. When the most active storms of life come your way,Jesus will be there with you to give you strength to get through the tough times.I like this part because you really experience Unconditional Love at it’s best and very powerful. You will have the Peace that Surpasses all understanding. No Doubt,Jesus Loves you Unconditionally. No Doubt Jesus loves the Whosoever.

This year, I’ve spent almost the entirety of NaNoWriMo behind on my word count. Call it procra

This year, I’ve spent almost the entirety of NaNoWriMo behind on my word count. Call it procrastination, call it ’sh*t happens’, call it comeuppance for having written less than 50K this entire year, never mind in one month. Whatever. I’ve been struggling. Most days, I don’t even want to look at my novel, let alone keep up this experiment in self-torment, complete with lifeless characters, boring prose, and just general suckishness.

In this last week, I’ve been feeling the fear that I might not make it. That I might, for the first time in three years, fail NaNoWriMo. I honestly tried to come to terms with that. It’s not like the world will end abruptly because I failed to write fifty thousand words in a month, right? Especially a month coming at the end of a year that seemed to have been specially designed to push me to the limits of my sanity.

Last night, I finally admitted defeat. Not defeat at NaNoWriMo, but defeat at my efforts to convince myself that losing was okay. I realized that I wasn’t going to let myself fail. Not this time. NaNoWriMo is my thing. Writing is my thing. I once had an entire auditorium on the edge of their seats while I read an excerpt from a novel I’d written about the Titanic. I had someone tell me a particularly creepy scene had given them nightmares. I’ve moved people to tears. What was this nonsense, thinking about giving up? Screw that.

There was also the small matter of desperately needing something to take my mind off of the incredibly f***ed up dream I’d had the night before. Someone pass the mind-bleach, please. I’d share, but I don’t want to cause anyone’s brain to implode the way mine did…even though fellow Transformer fans would really understand the ickiness of said dream…nah, going away now.

So, to get back to the story, I replenished my supply of coffee and junk food, sat down, and opened up my document. I closed the forums and opened Write or Die. And then I got to it. And the results are beginning to show. I’ve jumped almost 5K in the past 24 hours. My characters are finally showing some depth. And the plot has finally hit a sweet spot, one that’s prompting me to keep increasing the timer on my Write or Die sessions because there’s just not enough time to get everything down. I’m at 40K now, 10K away from the goal, and I’m showing no signs of stopping now.

The moral of this story is…well, anyone can do it, right? If I – one of the most pessimistic, sarcastic, glass-half-empty people you could meet – could be inspired into a never-give-up approach to NaNoWriMo, maybe there’s hope for us all in these last few days.

Good luck to all my fellow come-from-behind WriMos. We rock this thing, don’t we?

Once up on a time a man saw a lot of people gathered, full of vigor and waiting to start a race. He

Once up on a time a man saw a lot of people gathered, full of vigor and waiting to start a race. He immediately went toward them and asked what was going on. Sooner her realized a race which was open to all and was about to start, which was conducted by the duke and which involves high prize money for it.

Being a very fast runner, he positioned himself for the sprint knowing deep down him that he could win the race with no or little effort. Just as soon as they heard the whistle, the contenders started to leap ahead like rockets, but this man was so far ahead from others that he finished the race ten seconds before the second man who came after.

But soon after when he thought that they were going to announce his name as the winner, he heard, to his surprise, the announcer mentioning the name of the man who came second as the winner. Not able to believe this he asked the announcer “Why”.

“Why!” the announcer said, “you were not “on the track” and that means “you were not racing with others”. You were on the WRONG TRACK so yours DON’T COUNT”

This small story has an important message with it. The message is,

“To succeed and to emerge as a winner it is of utmost importance to do the things that matter and to avoid things that DON’T COUNT”

Doing the big tasks that are very important and that which would take you forward toward your goal and ensure you are on the “RIGHT TRACK”, is a crucial step in managing your time wisely and efficiently.

Imagine yourself as a brave warrior fighting a battle in which you were facing many Goliaths and other soldiers of normal size.

Wouldn’t you be better off if you could kill the Goliaths first so that you have overcome the major things first and now could concentrate on the smaller ones?

Had you focused killing the smaller ones first, would you think you would have been left with much energy to fight the Goliaths?

Not much!

Successful people always concentrate on the important tasks and jobs that would take them toward their goal and that which would ensure their success. They always attack the Goliaths first!! Because Goliaths do count!!!

Okay how to attack the Goliaths? That’s next!

Wish you all the riches to come with God’s blessings

Brian Tracy, the leading authority on time management and human potential, has said in his book “Eat

Brian Tracy, the leading authority on time management and human potential, has said in his book “Eat that frog!”,

“If you have a list of ten items to do, two of those items will turn out to be worth five or ten times or more than the other eight items put together.”

The following three basic principles would give you a massive start:

Identify the goliaths:

You must attack the Goliaths to use your time effectively and to insure your great future. For that to happen, you should identify the Goliaths first. Very simple to do: Just make a list of all the important tasks in your life that think would take you toward your goals. Then prioritize them according to the importance, the value they bring you to your life. This one could be for the things that you want to achieve in the distant future and also the things that you do on a daily basis.

Always think on paper:

When you have written your plan on a piece of paper, you actually have recorded it in a way that it will stay stronger in your mind which is not possible with out writing it. So, not only for setting priorities in your life, but for any thing that needs decision or some serious revamping always follow this elite habit of thinking on paper!

Principle-centered life:

Successful people do things with their principles as guidance and not their emotions. Even if they were tempted by their emotions to do things that are of small value or things that “DON’T COUNT” they always come on top by doing things that are the “Goliaths” or which do count. Say if this is Bill Gates who has these principles strongly cemented to his mind. He might say to himself,

“Hey Billy, it is very tempting to go play golf in the sunny morning but does it take you toward your goal?”

Here Bill Gates may be tempted by his emotions which are natural for him as a human being but he had another powerful nucleus inside him which is nothing but his set of principles that guide him throughout his life- the GOLIATHS that he had to attack or the PRIORITIES!

In fact, setting priority would save you a lot of time and you could do more and achieve more when you start attacking the GOLIATHS.

Take the armor that you already have and start attacking the “Goliaths”

Wish you all the riches to come with God’s blessings

Thou makesst the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice (Ps. 65:8).

Get up early and go to the mountain and watch God make a morning. The dull gray will give way as God pushes the sun toward the horizon, and there will be tints and hues of every shade, that will blend into one perfect light as the full-orbed sun burst into view. As the King of day moves forth majestically flooding the earth and every lowly vale, listen to the music of heaven’s choir as it sings of the majesty of God and the glory of the morning.

In the holy hush of the early dawn

I hear a Voice-

I am with you all the day,

Rejoice! Rejoice!

The clear, pure light of the morning made me long for the truth in my heart, which alone could make me pure and clear as the morning, tune me up to the concept-pitch of the nature around me. And the wind that blew from the sunrise made me hope in the ‘God who had first breathed into my nostrils the breath of life; that He would at length so fill me with His breath, His mind, finding therein my own life, only glorified infinitely. What should we poor humans do without our God’s nights and mornings? George MacDonald

In the early morning hours,

While from each the darkness passes

Silently away;

Then ‘tis sweet to talk with Jesus

In thy chamber still-

For the coming day and duties

Ask to know His will.

Then He’ll lead the way before you,

Making desert places blossom,

Sweet’ning Marah’s flow.

Would you know this life of triumph,

Victory all the way?

Then put God in the beginning

Now that 50 Cent’s disappointing first week numbers are official, rival Rick Ross is now claiming victory in their 2009 feud.

In a recent concert for DJ Khaled’s birthday, Ross proclaimed full credit for 50 Cent’s lowest debut week (161,000) of his previously multi-platinum career.

“So we celebrating my n***a birthday, but we’re also celebrating the demise of a p***y. R.I.P. to the donkey, we buried him,” Ross stated on stage with Khaled. “It feel good, n***a. Don’t look surprised, you knew we was gonna do it. There’s only one record that can describe the feeling.”

Concluding his victory speech, Ross went into “This Is the Life,” the fourth single from his 2008 gold sophomore LP Trilla.

Quit the quitting habit

Overcoming obstacles of poverty and sadness with dogged persistence

Never enough to eat and doing odd jobs at a young age

But a lot of stubborn to persist till the end to make things happen

That’s why he is so well known today as Charlie Chaplin!

The iron hand of his conquerors pushed him to the limit

His people sometimes thought of his approach as obsolete

Little did it tell about him from his appearance when people saw him

But he didn’t retreat and that’s why he is known as Mahatma Gandhi today!

His associates told that he didn’t have the face or grace to make it

And the initial career graph showed a downward curve for others to mock at

When the odds were against him, he worked hard toward his ideal

That is the reason he is known today as Arnold Schwarzenegger!

Just a small garage as his office to work with and nothing else

But had great ideas boiling between his ears and the desire to execute them

No education, but determined and undertook great entrepreneurial ventures

That is why he is today popularly known as Steve jobs!

Experiencing educational difficulties because of her alcoholic dad

And shook off the gender criticisms and doubts by others on her ability

And conquering the air with her sheer guts and stick-to-itiveness

That’s why she is known as today as Amelia Earhart!

Schooling was the remotest thing to approach for this child

For he had little or no schooling and a “Hopeless” for many

Nature was harsh on him; stole his hearing faculty

But never could his “will to win”, for today he is well known as Thomas Alva Edison!

“what’s in store for me in my life?”, this person had been wondering

Until one day God showered His blessings on this child more than ever

That little soul relinquished the “Quitter” cloak and resolved to be courageous

after that wonderful soul stumbled upon a few lines of truth written for it;

Behold! And record your name here:— —–, for it is you who are to be the great among people!!

Wish you all the riches to come with God’s blessings
