KMPlayer is one of those little gems you can find online. It’s a media player but unlike Windows Media Player, KMPlayer already has lots of codec pre installed. This basically means that it will play any kind of video format that you can think of, and yes this can play flash formatted videos. that’s good if your into download videos off the web. KMPlayer is very good for play DVDs as well. it’s also very good for run photo slide shows as it can run all popular photo formats. KMPlayer was really easy to install and has a clean and styles your interface. ok it’s easy to setup and use it likes nice and it’s free so, I would recommend KMPlayer.

The Sylvania 8GB MP3 player version (smpk8858) is a smaller, and cheaper version of the I-Pod Touch. Just how big of a price difference is it? Well the Sylvania will run you at about $100 if it’s not on sale, but it is usually on sale for between $60 and $70 here in Canada. Now the 8GB Ipod Touch 3rd Generation is double the price at $198.99.

What’s the problem with the Sylvania MP3 Player? You pay for what you get.

First of all, the power switch is cumbersome to say the least. You have to hold the button for a good 10 seconds before it either turns off or on, and the button is fairly difficult to keep pressed. It breaks my thumbnails.

The first screen you see is fairly straight forward. You have 7 menus items to choose from; all well-defined. What comes in the sub menus is where its lack of organization is obvious. For instance, for music there are the following options: you can either resume play, click on ‘all music’, ‘artist’, ‘album’, ‘my favourite’, or ‘record’. What else will you note? There’s a play button and a pause button. There is not stop buttong. Can you play from only certain albums, omitting others?  It appears that you can, but only after every song of whatever album you first selected has played, thanks to there being no stop button. Pretty annoying if you decided to shuffle from all the albums not knowing this would happen. Even if you turn it off and back on.

For this reason, it is primitive and not so user-friendly.

Although you have to wait for it to play through the entire album you first select before it lets you restart a new album or song; you can keep the songs you liked, by creating yourself a ‘my favourites’ file along the way.

If you calibrate this product properly in its settings when you first use it, the touch screen works perfectly. The graphics are excellent as well. You can watch full feature films on it with no problems.

I’d say that if you’d like to experience touch screen, but are not willing to fork out too much money, then this product is for you. We’d bought it as a toy for the treadmill, but it didn’t work out too well since you’re still connected to it through headphones. A transceiver with wireless headset can fix that problem, but without the same quality. It is now just used as my MP3 player, and it’ll do for now.  My thumbnail will just have to suffer in the interim.

for several times I’ve been downloading Naruto Shippuden from Mexat.com with Arabic subs but the player gives me:-

“Can not locate video stearm”

so I got’em from my loveable realitylaps.com^&^

but today I tried to play the last episoede I got from there but it didn’t work too o__O!

asked my sis about it and she said that she installed the L-K-lite instead of the K-lite because it was kinda troublesome, it didn’t allow the MCP to work good.

I switched them agine but another episode didn’t work this time ><

and I need something that allow VLC to play videos without completing it’s download.

Oggi parlerò di VLC, perchè oltre ad essere un ottimo player free per video di ogni sorta, e di DVD, è ottimo per chi studia ballo.
Vediamo perchè:

Quali sono i VANTAGGI?

– è free,
- è multilingua (quindi anche in italiano)
- è sempre aggiornato con gli ultimi codec (se si aggiorna il programma di tanto in tanto) oppure basta andare in strumenti/preferenze e abilitare in Interfaccia: Attiva notifiche degli aggiornamenti”.
- Slow motion: sulla barra del tempo ci sono 2 freccie piccole, una a destra una a sinistra, se ci clicci sopra quella di sinistra dimezza ogni volta la velocità del play, se clicci sopra quella di sinistra raddoppia la velocità. Oppure semplicemente premendo i tasti + e – ottieni gli stessi risultati
- Loop (A to B): io l’ho scaricato in italiano quindi in strumenti devi abilitare “controlli avanzati e nel player compaiono dei pulsanti in più compreso quello del Loop (A to B). Cliccando 1 volta su pulsante prende il punto di inizio del loop, cliccando una seconda volta il punto di fine del ciclo che deve ripetere. Il loop lo puoi rallentare o velocizzare sempre con + o -.
- Cattura scermo del video: abilitando i controlli avanzati si aggiunge anche una icona che rappresenta una macchina fotografica, cliccandoci sopra puoi fare una istantanea del fotogramma che stavi vedendo.
- Playlist: direttamente dal menù playlist attivi il pannello, ne puoi creare quante vuoi e salvarle (un po’ come winamp se lo hai usato).
- Skin: sul sito ce ne sono quante ne vuoi.
- convertitore, in file c’è la funzione per convertire i file in altri formati per gli usi più disparati. Ad esempio puoi estrapolare l’audio da un video.
Queste sono le funzioni che uso più spesso di VLC, ne ha sicuramente altre che ti lascio scoprire da solo

Only two stories this week: I wrote and produced a piece analyzing reactions to Angela Merkel’s reelection and produced a video about problematic floor mats in Toyota vehicles. (Also, check this story in Wired – looks like we’re catching on!)

Despite the relatively low quantity, I feel like I’m improving on both ends of the process: my scripts are getting tighter and more focused and I’m recognizing frame-by-frame ways to improve the FinalCut look.

Not much to report from Capstone: The video player is looking like it will be more complicated than I’d hoped, but that’s part of the learning experience. On the other hand, the content is amassing quickly – the first package will be done a week from today, my teammate has video for the next one, and we’re both working to set up interviews for the remaining pieces.

What I’m watching: Happy 60th birthday to the PRC. Say what you will about its policies, but the fact remains that in that span China has transitioned from a nation humiliated by European colonialism to a major world power. Could it have happened under the GMD (KMT for Wade-Giles enthusiasts)? Probably. Could it have been done without the turmoil of the Cultural Revolution/post-Hundred Flowers/etc. ? Who knows. Will China’s importance continue to grow? Stay tuned.

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard에 새로 추가된 QuickTime Player X가 그렇게 기능이 제한적일 줄 모르고 QuiciTime 7(기본 설치 옵션에서 제외되어 있다)를 설치하지 않았다가, 나중에 QuickTime 7을 설치하는 경우의 팁.

QuickTime Player 7으로는 열 수 있었으나 QuickTime Player X로 열 수 없는 파일 — 여기서는 .QTZ(Quartz Composition) 파일. 다른 파일의 확장자만 바꿔줘도 된다(;;) — 을 QuickTime Player X로 열면, 위와 같은 메시지와 함께 소프트웨어 업데이트를 이용해 QuickTime Player 7을 포함한 QuickTime 7을 자동으로(!) 설치해 준다. 좀 쌩뚱맞은 기능. (via NZMac.com)

QuickTime Player 7은 /Applications/Utilities 폴더에 설치되며, (/Applications 에서 뒷전으로 밀렸음) QuickTime Pro로 등록도 된다고 한다. 이전과 변함없는 QuickTime 7이 설치된 것이다. 현재 QuickTime 최신 버전은 7.6.4인데, 내 경우 7.6.3이 설치되었다.

Quartz Composition 지원이 빠져버리다니, 애플이 이 기술을 버리는 건가? 하긴 매우 괜찮은 기술이지만 사용자는 그리 많지 않았던 거 같다.

Mac OS X 10.6 Leopard에 새로 추가된 QuickTime Player X의 옵션을 설정할 수 있는 시스템 환경설정. QuickTime Player에는 환경설정이 아예 빠져있다.

다음 옵션을 제공한다:

• 플레이어의 테두리 모나게 하기 (MGCinematicWindowDebugForceNoRoundedCorners)
• 여러 모니터를 동시에 녹화하기 (MGAllowMultipleSimultaneousRecordings)
• 자동재생 (MGPlayMovieOnOpen)
• 자막 보이기 (MGEnableCCAndSubtitlesOnOpen)
• 최근 사용 문서 수 조절(0, 5, 10, 15) (MGRecentURLPropertyLists)
• 타이틀바와 컨트롤러 계속 보이기 (MGUIVisibilityTimeout)

자동 재생이나 자막 보이기 여부 선택은 너무 기본적인 옵션이라서 빠져있는 것이 좀 황당하다. 당분간 이 유틸리티나 기타 다른 방법으로 QuickTime Player X의 설정을 바꾸며 사용해야 할 듯.

테두리 모양이 라운드가 기본인 것도 황당한 게, 귀퉁이의 정보를 언제나 보여주지 않는 셈이기 때문이다. 차라리 가벼운 유틸리티를 따로 만들었으면 어땠을까? QuickLook에 포함시키던지. 인터페이스도 거의 같지 않나? 동영상 녹화 기능은 PhotoBooth에 포함시키고.

현재 시스템 환경설정을 닫을 때마다 설정값이 리셋되는 버그가 있다. 몇몇 기능은 제대로 동작하지 않는 거 같다.

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard와 함께 등장한 새로운 QuickTime Player.

기존 QuickTime Player가 동영상과 인터렉티브 미디어 재생기로, QuickTime Player Pro는 간단한 편집과 변환기로 작동한 것에 비해, 이 새로운 QuickTime Player는 간단한 동영상 촬영기와 재생기 기능만 갖추고 있으며 기존의 고급 기능은 최소한도로 축소되었다.

아마도 사용자가 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 간단한 동영상 센터(?)를 목적으로 하고 있는 듯 한데, 정확하게 어떻게 자리메김할 지 좀 모호한 느낌이다. 조작 인터페이스도 더 간단해졌다. 환경 설정 인터페이스를 아예 없앨 정도.

기능의 부족함 때문인지, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard 사용자도 여전히 QuickTime 7을 설치할 수 있도록 되어 있다.

YouTube에 동영상을 업로드하는 기능도 추가되었다.
