<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p> Quebecor&#8217;s Videotron telecom arm might be the ideal candidate to help solve Globalive Communications&#8217; foreign ownership problems, an analyst at Royal Bank suggests.</p>
<p> Last week, the CRTC found that Toronto-based Globalive, which is 65 per cent owned by Egypt&#8217;s Orascom and had plans to launch a wireless service in Toronto and Calgary this year under the Wind brand, does not meet foreign ownership and control rules.</p>

<p> Industry Canada is reviewing the decision and the regulator&#8217;s recommendations can be overruled or ignored by government. But since the CRTC at least temporarily put the brakes on Globalive&#8217;s wireless ambitions, speculation has run rampant about how the company might satisfy ownership requirements.</p>
<p> Among the theories is that a regional Canadian company with more modest ambitions might link up with the upstart Globalive to satisfy Canadian ownership rules in exchange for a minority stake in a new wireless player.</p>
<p> The theory was floated as Manitoba Telecom posted its quarterly earnings on Thursday. But company management poured cold water on the idea of a Globalive partnership, as CEO Pierre Blouin said MTS isn&#8217;t looking to be a national wireless player at this time.</p>
<p> The company is in the midst of building an advance wireless network with Rogers Communications Inc., which will also give it access to the national Rogers network as a roaming partner.</p>
<p> &#8220;Right now, we&#8217;re happy with the arrangement that we have with Rogers,&#8221; Blouin said.</p>
<p> The deal includes a $50 million break fee in the first year if MTS backs out of the deal. Barring &#8220;exceptional economics from the arrangement,&#8221; that makes it prohibitively expensive for MTS to ponder linking up with Globalive, RBC analyst Jonathan Allen said in a note yesterday.</p>
<p> But Allen did float the intriguing possibility that Quebecor Inc. subsidiary Videotron might be Globalive&#8217;s ideal dance partner.</p>
<p> Videotron has $96 million of stranded Toronto-area spectrum, Allen said, that the company currently has no plans to develop. The company could flip the 10 megahertz they picked up in the 2008 federal auction of wireless spectrum to Globalive as in-kind equity for an ownership stake.</p>
<p> That could help satisfy the CRTC&#8217;s concerns that Globalive is controlled by Egyptian-based Orascom, and give Videotron a toehold outside its home turf of Quebec.</p>
<p> The theoretical alliance makes further sense, Allen said, because Globalive would not be a competitor in Videotron&#8217;s home market of Quebec. The company plans to launch in Toronto and Calgary before launching nationally.</p>
<p> &#8220;And the roaming arrangement [Videotron] already brokered with Rogers does not have a prohibitive break fee attached,&#8221; Allen said.</p>
<p> Officials with Globalive and Videotron did not respond to requests for comment.</p>

<div><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">CRTC delays usage-based internet billing .  The CRTC is holding off on implementing an order that would allow Bell Canada to charge smaller internet service providers based on how much their customers download each month.  The regulator on Wednesday ALSO announced that ISPs would only be able to use network management measures such as traffic shaping and slowing if economic measures, such as infrastructure investment and usage limits, failed to curtail congestion. The regulator on Wednesday said it needs more time to consider comments submitted by Bell, MTS Allstream and a group of smaller ISPs on its earlier provisional ruling, made in August. That order was supposed to take effect Nov. 10, but will be delayed until the regulator has had a chance to assess all the comments.The CRTC did not say when it expects to make a final decision.  Bell is without a doubt the worst company I have ever seen. I will never do business with them. <li><span id="lblTop1">Bell, Telus and the large cable companies now control 94% of the residential internet services market in Canada. This dominance stands in stark contrast to the competitive dynamic and choice that existed when internet access was first emerging. In 1998 competitors had 47% of the residential market however as high speed began to emerge competitors’ market share began to drop dramatically and is now virtually non-existent because the former monopolies have denied competitors fair economic wholesale access.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop2">In the late 90s Canada was also leading the world in broadband deployment and state-of-the-art networks. Now Canadians pay more than all other G8 countries and get less.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop3">Canada needs the latest and best technology solutions in order to stay competitive. If we allow more monopolization and less competition, there will be no pressure to innovate, and the Canadian economy will suffer.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop4">Bell and Telus were subsidized by taxpayers to build their networks, and we all did that because we wanted the networks to help serve the public interest, not just the private interests of the telephone companies. The networks should continue to be regulated to ensure they serve the public interest, since we helped foot the bill to construct them.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop5">Canada should be leading the world and Canadians should be receiving the innovation and choice that vibrant broadband competition would bring. This will not be achieved by allowing, as the CRTC is doing, the unregulated former monopolies charge retail customers what they want and to use their network dominance to eliminate competitors.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop6">The evidence is clear from the past&#8230;.when we have competition in broadcast and telecom markets, consumers get more and better services, at lower prices. Turning back the clock would produce exactly the opposite effect.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop7">The US tried the approach the CRTC is advocating and it was a disaster. Estimates are that the cost to the US economy were $66 billion and 234,000 jobs.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop8">If the federal government lets Bell and Telus have the power to harm competitors, smaller towns and rural Canada will suffer most. We need to stand up for all parts of Canada.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop9">Bell and Telus, like most companies, offer more attentive service and more attractive offers when they know you have a choice.</span></li>
<li><span id="lblTop10">The past rules have not harmed Bell and Telus on the contrary, they are among the largest and most profitable companies in Canada.</span></li>

<p>Ces réseaux demandent au Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des télécommunications canadiennes (CRTC) d’imposer aux consommateurs une taxe sur la télévision pour les stations de télévision locales.  Pourtant votre facture de câble (ou satellite) inclus déjà des frais à cet égard.</p>
<p>Si vous désirez dénoncer cette nouvelle taxe, faites-le.  Ne tombez pas dans le panneau de ceux qui demandent cette taxe en vous faisant croire que si elle ne voit pas le jour plusieurs stations de télévisions disparaîtront.  Elles disparaîtront de toute façon nouvelle taxe ou non car le problème n&#8217;est pas l&#8217;argent mais le contenu télévisuel discutable qui attire de moins en moins de gens donc de commanditaires et leurs sous.</p>
<p>Sachez que l&#8217;implantation de cette taxe pourrait augmenter votre facture de câble de 5 à 10$ par mois.</p>
<p>Ne sommes-nous pas déjà assez taxées au Canada ?</p>
<p>De plus pour 32 millions de canadiens il y a peut-être trop d&#8217;offre au niveau télévisuel.</p>
<p>Le système télévisuel optimal au Canada serait d&#8217;implanter un système de facturation pour qu&#8217;on paie pour ce que l&#8217;on regarde. Si je prends mon cas à Montréal, actuellement en 2009 je paie 60$ par mois à Vidéotron (de <a href="http://theinvestorglobe.com/corporations-news.php?co=Quebecor">Québécor</a>) et on m&#8217;inclus des chaînes dans le service de base, chaînes que je ne regarde même pas ou à peu près pas.</p>

<p>Je ne dis pas que ces chaînes sont inutiles mais elles me sont inutiles.  Elles sont incluses dans un forfait de base et j&#8217;en ai pas de besoin.  Je paie donc un service de base à Vidéotron au prix de 13,99$ par mois pour avoir TVA, SRC, V et RDI.  Ça revient cher de la chaîne tout de même non ?  Je préfèrerais grandement pouvoir choisir l&#8217;ensemble des chaines que je désire regarder.  J&#8217;ai déjà le forfait 30 chaînes à 31,99$ par mois.  Vidéotron pourrait augmenter ce forfait à 40$ et ainsi me permettre d&#8217;inclure dans ce forfaits les chaînes de bases.  J&#8217;économiserai et je paierais uniquement pour ce que je regarde.  Quelle belle sensation non?</p>
<p>Je ne sais pas pour vous mais de mon côté, j&#8217;en ai un peu marre qu&#8217;on m&#8217;impose des choses dont je n&#8217;ai pas de besoin.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Utopia Image’s Second Year (2007)]]></title>

The objective at that point was to successfully establish a real cash flow in order to give us some breathing room to grow our company. Our focus, in 2007, was to solidify our relationship with Videotron to increase our value in their eyes enabling us to increase our services with them. To do so, we needed to analyze where the growth opportunities were and position ourselves to win that business.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">An important aspect that needed to be taken care of early in 2007 was the optimization of our survey software platform. In its initial development, it was not meant to take on high transactional volume and was starting to show some signs of inefficiency. Since we wanted to grow our survey services we really needed to enhance our software platform. Therefore, in early 2007, Abdel Toukebri, a senior software developer, still with us today, was hired to take over the development of our software, which we named <a title="UI Contact" href="http://www.utopiaimage.com/uicontact" target="_blank">UI Contact</a>. I can sincerely say that the timing of Abdel’s hiring was crucial and, looking back, most probably one of the most important steps we took. He truly helped us stabilize and enhance our <a title="UI Contact" href="http://www.utopiaimage.com/uicontact" target="_blank">UI Contact</a> platform, which in turn helped us effectively grow our survey services with Videotron.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">After many months of discussions with key people at Videotron, we discovered an opportunity for growth, which was to offer them a technical support outsourcing service. Having already four other partners, offering them the same service, Videotron saw great value in partnering with us as our future call center division was going to concentrate exclusively on technical support services. Our current 2000 square foot office would no longer suffice the call-center requirements of our new project; we therefore decided to start looking for a new office space. We looked at many different options, from buying a building to leasing an office space. Out of all the options we looked at, all of them but one would have made us fail if we had chosen them. Thankfully, we chose the right option. Once again, that decision was due to a great coincidence. Before having made our final decision, we were looking into purchasing a building. This is when we met Martin Vallée, a great person who really looked after our best interest and who I would recommend to anyone. As the negotiation for the building purchase moved forward, we began feeling doubtful that it was a good fit. At that point, Martin mentioned that he had some office space in Laval for rent that was not publicized because he was mandated by the government and that it would have been possible to negotiate good leasing terms. We finally decided to lease the 8000 square feet of office space recommended by Martin. Looking back, choosing that option was another critical decision we made, which still plays a major role in our success today. The terms we got in our lease were extremely advantageous and enabled us to expand our business without too much risk.  Had we chosen another avenue, we would not be where we are today. The move was in September 2007 and by the end of that same month we started offering technical support for Videotron’s consumers.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">To conclude, 2007 was a big year for us all at <a title="Utopia Image" href="http://www.utopiaimage.com/" target="_blank">Utopia Image</a>. We went from 13 employees in 2006 to 27 at the end of 2007. We developed our outsourcing technical support service and moved to a new office. Another milestone was achieved in August 2007 when <a title="Utopia Image" href="http://www.utopiaimage.com/" target="_blank">Utopia Image</a> was finally able to pay a 36,000$ salary to its President. Finally, as a team, we were slowly putting pieces in place to ensure long term success for us and our partners.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>In retrospect</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">When we were looking at office spaces, we didn’t really put emphasis on proximity to public transportation or location. I didn’t really understand the dynamics of running a call center, having come from a telecommunications background. It was with a little luck that circumstances led me to lease the perfect office space for our needs, located in Laval, and close to public transportation. This enabled us to have a call center in a region with few’ competitors,  creating low turnover, and providing access to a pool of great individuals who preferred not to make a long commute to the city.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">One of the lessons learned was the importance to analyze all the possible internal and external factors that can influence the success of a project. In our case, the location of the call center was crucial to our success and had a direct impact with the level of quality we were going to be able to offer our partner. Coincidence and/or luck should not dictate the fate of our project. Although, as much as I believe that extensive planning and hard work play a major role in success, I still believe that positive coincidences happen when our intentions are good and we are steering in the right direction.</p>

<p>I had to go to an Apple store at a suburban mall today to get my iPhone 3GS replaced (The screen was abnormally dark, wreaking havoc on the auto-bright setting) and about 100 metres away a store seemed very familiar&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Large light wood tables?</strong> Check.</p>
<p><strong>Metal accents?</strong> Check.</p>
<p><strong>Macs?</strong> Check.</p>
<p><strong>Knowledgeable staff?</strong> Eh, not so much.</p>
<p>That last point was the clue that I wasn&#8217;t at another Apple store, but at a new Videotron store! Somebody has <a title="Microsoft's new stores mimic Apple" href="http://gizmodo.com/5322328/leak-inside-the-microsoft-store-with-wall+sized-screens-and-the-answers-bar/gallery/" target="_blank">beaten Microsoft to the photocopier</a>. <p>Up until now, Videotron had been focusing on small, island-type kiosks. In fact, Videotron still operates its kiosk in the same mall, which was much busier than the barren store when I visited. As the company gears up to launch its own cell phone service in Quebec, (Videotron does currently offer cell phones, but it simply buys minutes wholesale from Rogers) retail space will become more and more important to the company. In the past year, we&#8217;ve seen Bell buy <em>The Source</em> stores and Telus buy <em>Black&#8217;s Camera</em> outlets as they jockey for more retail space to hawk their wares.</p>

<p>Now this is Videotron&#8217;s big retail push, so don&#8217;t expect the Apple copy to be perfect. The store is cluttered with flyers, pamphlets, and yellow cardboard boxes. The overall design aesthetic is most definitely Apple though, even the wall murals mimic Apple&#8217;s in-store iPhone murals.</p>
<p>Videotron, like Microsoft, is forgetting a couple of key elements that will keep their stores from being <a title="Apple retail" href="http://www.retail-week.com/retail-sectors/electricals/apple-tops-most-profitable-store-list/5005760.article" target="_blank">insanely profitable</a> like Apple&#8217;s: Compelling products and brand loyalty. There&#8217;s simply no reason to walk into a Videotron store unless you specifically need a service from them. No one is enamoured by Videotron, they&#8217;re simply stuck with their products thanks to a lack of competition. People don&#8217;t love companies like Videotron or Microsoft they way they love Apple. It will be very interesting to see how well Microsoft does in the U.S. and Videotron in Quebec with their Apple retail knockoffs. While Videotron has a shot to do well in this market, there&#8217;s no doubt in my mind that Microsoft&#8217;s retail effort will be D.O.A.</p>

<p>Je me suis posé la question du pourquoi et du comment pour en arriver à une autre question.  Est-ce que le Canada est trop petit pour autant de médias?</p>
<p>Sincèrement je crois que oui.</p>
<p>Tout d&#8217;abord dressons le portrait sommaire de Canwest.</p>
<p>- réseau de télé Global<br />
- chaînes de télé spécialisées MovieTime, DejaView et Fox Sports World<br />
- principaux journaux The National Post, The Gazette<br />
- le site Internet canada.com estimé en valeur à plus de 20 millions de dollar, le 101e site le plus consulté au Canada.</p>
<p>Si on regarde les principaux empire médiatiques du Canada.<br />

<p>N&#8217;y a-t-il pas trop de médias pour le Canada qui compte à peine moins de 33 millions de consommateurs?</p>
<p>Je crois sincèrement que oui.</p>
<p>Regardez la panoplie de canaux canadiens disponibles sur vos forfaits Vidéotron, <a href="http://theinvestorglobe.com/corporations-news.php?co=Expressvu">Expressvu</a> ou Shaw versus la qualité du contenu.</p>
<p>Vous vous demandez encore comment ça se fait que ces chaînes peuvent survivre? Ça tient du miracle trop souvent si vous vous voulez mon avis.</p>
<p>Quand on y pense, est-ce qu&#8217;il y a de la place au Canada Anglais pour trois réseaux nationaux généralistes que sont CBC, CTV et Global ?  Il faut prendre compte également que le consommateur du Canada Anglais est anglophone et pour lui c&#8217;est avec une grande aisance qu&#8217;il peut aller d&#8217;un réseau canadien à un réseau américain.  Autres que pour le contenu local (nouvelles par exemple) qu&#8217;y a-t-il pour un consommateur du Canada anglais comme différence entre les réseaux américains ABC, Fox, NBC, PBS et CBS ou les réseaux canadiens Global, CTV et CBC ?</p>
<p>Voilà un gros problème des médias du Canada Anglais.</p>
<p>C&#8217;est clair qu&#8217;il y a  trop d&#8217;offre pour la demande des consommateurs canadiens et les prix ne cesse de monter chose qui est conrraire à la loi sur l&#8217;offre et la demande.</p>
<p>Donc plutôt que de continuer à augmenter l&#8217;offre il faudrait que les compagnies médiatiques du Canada se fasse un examen de conscience et qu&#8217;ils assurent leur prospérité en améliorant l&#8217;offre sur la qualité plutôt que d&#8217;augmenter l&#8217;offre sur une demande stagnante.</p>
<p>Et de grâce baisser vos prix si vous désirez stimuler cette demande stagnante.</p>
<p>Parlant d&#8217;offre avez vous récemment magasiné pour un appareil et forfait cellulaire ?<br />
Bell, Telus, Fido, Koodoo, Virgin Mobile, Videotron, Cityfone le choix il y&#8217;en a.  Le problème c&#8217;est que les prix ne vont pas selon la grandeur de l&#8217;offre versus la petitesse de la demande. Qu&#8217;on se comprennent bien, il ne se vendra pas 32 millions de cellulaires au Canada.</p>
<p>Ainsi, les joueurs en place sur le marché du cellulaire stimulent leur offre et leurs profits en haussant les prix sur la petitesse de la demande des consommateurs canadiens.  Ça n&#8217;a aucun bon sens.  C&#8217;est même irréel comme principe économique.</p>
<p>Je comprends que le réseau cellulaire pan-canadien c&#8217;est quelque chose à déployer vu l&#8217;étendu du pays versus le peu de consommateurs.  Mais tout de même il faut que les compagnies de cellulaires cessent de voir le mot CON dans le mot consommateur.  Parce que de mon point de vue consommateur, c&#8217;est clair que les compagnies de cellulaire me prennent pour un con en m&#8217;offrant si grand pour un prix beaucoup trop grand.</p>
<p>Maintenant du point de vue investisseur, faites-vous plaisir, tenez vous loin de ces monstres médiatiques qui s&#8217;endettent plus rapidement que la croissance de leurs profits nets.  Car mon opinion est que si Canwest peut s&#8217;écrouler en bourse, dans le futur rien ne garantie pas que les autres ne peuvent pas tomber également.</p>
<p>Pour plusieurs chef de ces titans du médias, la convergence a un prix et c&#8217;est le consommateur qui paie cette convergence du fait que ces titans du médias remboursent des intérêts sur de lourdes dettes.  Qui paie ces intérêts vous pensez?  Le consommateur canadien.</p>
<p>Tout ce battage médiatique entourant la chute de Canwest relance le débat de plus bel sur la privatisation de CBC/Radio-Canada.</p>
<p>Mais chers lecteurs canadiens, qu&#8217;on se le demande.  En ces temps de récession, est-ce la mission du gouvernement de nous offrir un service de télé?</p>
<p>Saviez-vous que l&#8217;empire CBC /Radio-Canada coûte environ 40$ par année à chaque citoyen du Canada ?  Sans compter vos frais de câblodistribution ou de satellite pour regarder les dites chaînes sans les oreilles de lapins traditionnels.  Imaginez.  Vous êtez une famille de quatre.  Ça vous coûte 160$ par année juste pour garder en vie CBC / Radio-Canada.</p>
<p>Est-ce la mission du gouvernement de nous offrir les chaînes RDI, CBC Newsworld, les réseaux CBC et Radio-Canada?</p>
<p>Ma réponse à cette question est NON.  La mission du <a href="http://theinvestorglobe.com/corporations-news.php?co=government.of.canada">gouvernementdu Canada</a> est de gouverner, de stimuler l&#8217;économie par des décisions réfléchies et non de divertir le peuple et de compétitionner l&#8217;entreprise privé.</p>

<title><![CDATA[What a Bell &amp; Telus iPhone means]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[If you believe what The Globe &amp; Mail reported earlier this evening, the iPhone is finally headed]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><span style="text-decoration:line-through;">If you believe what The Globe &#38; Mail </span><a href="http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/bell-telus-to-launch-iphone-next-month/article1312692/" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration:line-through;">reported earlier this evening</span></a><span style="text-decoration:line-through;">,</span> the iPhone is finally headed to Canada&#8217;s other two big mobile providers. This comes after the companies worked around the clock and at great cost to launch their new iPhone-capable networks a year ahead of schedule. The urgency at which both Bell and Telus moved to make this possible offers some great insight into the state of the Canadian mobile phone industry. The most important things that this news highlights:<!--more--></p>
<ul>
<li>Rogers was cleaning the clocks of its competitors thanks to the iPhone, and that was having a severe impact on the bottom lines of Bell and Telus. There&#8217;s no other reason for spending the money required to get their new network up so quickly. The two companies were bleeding subscribers, who were going to Rogers and Fido en masse and signing three-year service contracts. One Rogers insider told me that half of all new Rogers customers were former Bell/Telus customers switching to get the iPhone.</li>
<li>The smartphones that Bell and Telus had been bamboozling customers with by <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">lying to</span> telling them they were iPhone equivalents for the last two years (BlackBerry Storm, Samsung Omnia, Palm Pre and a half-dozen others), have been been nothing short of spectacular failures.</li>
<li>This is particularly distressing news for the Waterloo, Ontario based maker of the BlackBerry, Research in Motion. I can&#8217;t tell you the number of business users I&#8217;ve met who are dying to get an iPhone, but are stuck with BlackBerry because their corporate accounts are with Bell. Consumers stuck in long-term contracts will now also have the chance to ditch their App-less phones for Apple&#8217;s smash hit.</li>
<li>For Rogers, this isn&#8217;t the worst news ever, as the iPhone has meant huge phone subsidies and data demands on its network that at times have taxed their system. This gives them some breathing room to increase capacity at a more reasonable pace. They also knew it was coming, as Apple and Rogers have never had an exclusive agreement. Rogers was just lucky Bell and Telus were stuck in the dark ages with their CDMA (iPhone unfriendly) networks.</li>
<li>The other huge reason Bell and Telus had to move fast is the impending launch of new competition: Globalive, Shaw, and Videotron will all be launching their own networks as early as this fall. Since all of these new networks will be compatible with the iPhone, Bell and Telus would have been facing an even bigger disaster by waiting until 2010.</li>
<li>Canadians rejoice! Bell and Telus have SIM cards!!! Welcome to this century.</li>
</ul>
<p>Make no mistake, the iPhone is in a league of its own. No one is switching carriers for the Palm Pre or Blackberry Tour. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse, who&#8217;s watched his company bleed customers to the iPhone and rival AT&#38;T in the U.S., said it best: <strong>&#8220;You can almost put the iPhone, to be fair, in a separate category. The Apple brand and that device have done so well&#8230; it&#8217;s like comparing someone to Michael Jordan.&#8221;</strong></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><img class="alignright" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3539/3322716183_976b8b072f_m.jpg" alt="" width="175" height="174" />Contrairement à certains chroniqueurs et <a href="http://martineau.blogue.canoe.ca/">potineurs</a> qui se prennent pour des journalistes, certains blogueurs québécois font un excellent travail.  Que ce soit la prose d&#8217;un <a href="http://renartleveille.wordpress.com/">Renart L&#8217;Éveillé</a>, la pertinence d&#8217;un <a href="http://louisprefontaine.com/">Louis Préfontaine</a>, la lucidité d&#8217;un <a href="http://kaverne.wordpress.com/">Hérétik</a>, certains sites nous proposent tous les jours une information complémentaire, des analyses détaillées et des poins de vue fort différents de ceux qu&#8217;on reçoit des médias traditionnels&#8230;  Cette semaine, <a href="http://lestraces.blogspot.com/2009/09/question-juste-de-meme.html">Neil Obstat</a> posait un constat des plus justes.  Il a songé à tracer un parallèle entre deux évènements qui démontrent comment Pierre-Karl Péladeau peut se contredire facilement.  D&#8217;un côté, il refuse de vendre de la publicité à Bell Canada et de l&#8217;autre, il demande au CRTC de briser l&#8217;exclusivité de la diffusion des matches du Canadien.  Il faut se rappeler ici que Bell Canada, concurrent de Vidéotron, est un des actionnaires de RDS.</p>
<p>Cette semaine, nous avons été témoins d&#8217;une autre pleurnicherie de Pierre-Karl.  Voilà qu&#8217;il se plaint que le Directeur général des élections porte atteinte à la réputation de Jean-Luc Mongrain en parodiant une émission d&#8217;affaires publiques populiste afin d&#8217;inviter les citoyens à aller voter aux élections municipales.  Mon Dieu, quel drame.</p>
<p>J&#8217;en ai marre de ces chiâleux.  Ça hérite d&#8217;une fortune et ça trouve le moyen de pleurer.</p>

Wait, people are still signing up for Teuls? You can&#8217;t speak to anyone&#8230;&#8230;and when you do it&#8217;s like talking to your dog&#8230;&#8230;.the only difference is you get a responce from your dog. .. their high speed internet services are also terrible. Poor customer relations as well as trouble getting thru technical support.  Telus probably went over thier bandwith cap or even better..they are throttled&#8230; by Bell or Rogers?  Maybe telus should find a better service provider. Telus uses a lot of Dell equipment which should be all you need to know.  this couldn&#8217;t happen to a better gouging, money hungry corp. Their record of poor service and arbitrary contract fees, etc has finally caught up with them. My most common telemarketing call: Telus, of course. Desperate fools, I&#8217;m NEVER coming back. <p>Résultat, l&#8217;action de Prestige Telecom a monté de 40% en bourse seulement pour aujourd&#8217;hui.</p>
<p>Que fait Prestige Telecom, cette compagnie de Baie d&#8217;Urfé ?</p>
<p>C&#8217;est une firme spécialisée dans la fourniture de services d&#8217;ingénierie de réseau, d&#8217;approvisionnement en matériel, d&#8217;installation et de soutien nécessaires à la construction, à l&#8217;exploitation et à l&#8217;entretien des réseaux filaires, sans fil et de télévision par câble. Au nombre des clients de la société, on retrouve Bell, Rogers, Vidéotron, Telus, etc.</p>
<p>Vous aurez grandement compris qu&#8217;elle un important sous-contractant pour plusieurs compagnies de télécommunications.</p>
<p>Oui Prestige Telecom est une junior avec une capitalisation boursière d&#8217;à peine 25,2 millions et un chiffres d&#8217;affaires de 31 millions au dernier trimestre et des profits d&#8217;environs 300 000$.</p>
<p>La compagnie fait des profits&#8230; sauf que la valeur aux livres de la compagnie n&#8217;est que de 12 cents pour nviron 118 millions d&#8217;actions en circulation.  À 28 cents aujourd&#8217;hui à la fermeture en bourse, ça m&#8217;apparaît cher comme titre de croissance.</p>
<p>Aussi.  N&#8217;oubliez pas pour René Angélil et Guy Laliberté, aussi important actionnaires, ça demeure du pocket-change pour eux.  Ils peuvent se permettre de risquer dans cette compagnie.  Vous en tant qu&#8217;individu, Prestige Telecom n&#8217;est peut-être pas votre meilleure option d&#8217;investissement.</p>
<p>Comme toute action en bourse il y a un risque qu&#8217;il faut évaluer.</p>

<p>Videotron m&#8217;a joint sur mon portable, après que je me sois tapé la réinscription sur leur site. Le gars me demande en gros si tout va bien. Je lui dis que là je peux voir ma facture vu que je me suis réinscrit. </p>
<p>Il me dit &#8220;donc tout va bien ?&#8221; Le pire c&#8217;est qu&#8217;il se foutait pas de ma gueule. Je lui déverse alors un torrent de haine dans sa face du genre: </p>
<p>&#8220;Non tout va pas bien bordel de merde tu crois que c&#8217;est normal que je doive me retaper l&#8217;inscription alors que c&#8217;est ton site de baltringue qui déconne mais putain vous avez pas un webmaster chez vidéotron en plus vous m&#8217;avez déjà fait le coup il y a 5 mois ça veut dire que ça fait au moins 5 mois que cette fonction de votre site est en rade que vous détruisez les comptes de toutes les personnes qui ont oublié leur login vous êtes des malades c&#8217;est même plus de l&#8217;incompétence à ce niveau&#8221;</p>
<p>Et là il me répond genre:<br />
&#8220;Oui nous sommes conscients de ce problème et votre échange d&#8217;hier avec l&#8217;assistance par mail nous permettra de faire progresser le dossier plus vite. Y a-t-il autre chose que je puisse faire pour vous ?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Clairement non&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Ai-je donc répondu à toutes vos questions ?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;C&#8217;est vous qui m&#8217;avez appelez, j&#8217;avais plus de questions&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Donc tout va bien, mon appel a répondu à vos questions ?&#8221;</p>

<title><![CDATA[Videotron, je t'encule]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Vidéotron, ce n&#8217;est pas une série b de SF. Ce n&#8217;est pas non plus un super méchant de comic book. Vidéotron c&#8217;est l&#8217;équivalent Québécois de Free. Je veux juste dire que Vidéotron propose un forfait télé/téléphone/internet. Les points communs avec Free s&#8217;arrêtent là.</p>
<p>Parce que pour Videotron, la freebox c&#8217;est de la <strong>science fiction</strong>. Le boîtier que tu installes avec Videotron, c&#8217;est l&#8217;équivalent du prototype de la toute première Freebox (celle d&#8217;il y a 7 ans.) Les trucs que tu trouves sur la freebox actuelle, comme le disque dur, le wifi ou d&#8217;autres fonctions du 21ème siècle: <strong>tu oublies</strong>. </p>
<p>Ici, quand tu leur racontes qu&#8217;en France avec le forfait de base tu as un appareil sur lequel tu peux envoyer des films à travers les airs depuis ton PC, et que cette machine du diable peux même lire des media directement sur ton PC par un lien télépathique mystérieux, c&#8217;est simple: Ils ne te croient pas.</p>
<p>Videotron ils te proposent, comme Free, le fameux forfait 3 en 1. Chez Videotron ça coûte 60 dollars par mois, soit 38 euros. Là vous me dites &#8220;ça va, c&#8217;est que 8 euros de plus qu&#8217;en France.&#8221;<br />
Ouais, à part que t&#8217;as un débit médiocre de <strong>600kbits/s</strong> (autant dire le bon vieux 512) et une capacité maximale de téléchargement de 2 giga&#8230; <strong>PAR MOIS </strong>! (téléchargement et upload confondus). 2 gigas par mois.</p>
<p>Par exemple si tu veux acheter un jeux (genre 3 giga) sur Steam, tu commences à le télécharger, tu fais pause quand tu arrives à 2 gigas, et tu termines le téléchargement le mois suivant.<br />
Ou alors tu le télécharges d&#8217;un coup et <strong>tu te bouffes une pénalité de dépassement</strong>, tu auras payé ton jeu plus cher que tout le monde (et imagine si tu as une console de jeu en plus, les téléchargements fait par cette dernière vont ronger ton capital de giga encore plus vite).</p>
<p>Bref, tu es obligé de prendre le forfait supérieur pour surfer dans des bonnes conditions, le forfait &#8220;haute vitesse&#8221; 7,5 Mbit/s (soit disant). Tu passes donc de 60 dollars à 75 dollars avec 30 giga mensuels de transfert ! Youpi. 30 giga. Pour avoir une limite supérieure tu passe à un forfait de 100 dollars/mois&#8230;</p>
<p>Si tu rajoutes à ça la &#8220;videotronbox&#8221; archaïque (tu as la même avec tous les forfaits) tu comprends vite que ce sont des <strong>voleurs</strong>.</p>
<p>Mais au Québec, il n&#8217;y a pas vraiment d&#8217;association de consommateur digne de ce nom, tout le monde se penche en avant et tousse.</p>
<p>Le pire c&#8217;est que même quand tu te soumets au racket, tu dois te battre. Résumé de ce que j&#8217;ai du faire il y a quelques jours:</p>
<p>1- Je reçois un email sur mon adresse perso m&#8217;indiquant que ma facture est en ligne. Bien décidé à ne pas attendre trop pour la payer, je me rends sur leur site à l&#8217;aide du lien qu&#8217;on me donne.</p>
<p>2- Je mets mon adresse email dans le champ &#8220;Nom d&#8217;utilisateur&#8221; et je valide : ça ne fonctionne pas. Merde, quel est mon nom d&#8217;utilisateur ? Je ne me souviens plus.</p>
<p>3- Je clique sur le lien &#8220;Vous avez oublié votre nom d&#8217;utilisateur ?&#8221; Comme prévu on me demande d&#8217;entrer mon adresse email pour m&#8217;envoyer le nom d&#8217;utilisateur. </p>
<p>4- Je rentre mon adresse email je reçois le message: &#8220;Nous ne trouvons pas cette adresse courriel dans nos dossiers. Veuillez vérifier l&#8217;adresse saisie.&#8221; Je retente. Echec. C&#8217;est sûr ils n&#8217;ont pas mon adresse.<br />
C&#8217;est marrant ils m&#8217;écrivent à cette adresse mais ne la trouvent pas.</p>
<p>5- Je cherche et trouve la page du soutien technique, je contacte le support par mail et leur explique mon problème. &#8220;msieur jpeux pas payer pisque jpeux pas voir ma facture&#8221;.</p>
<p>6- Le support par mail me donne l&#8217;adresse de&#8230; la page de soutien technique, en me disant de contacter le support par clavardage (chat). Pourquoi ? Parce qu&#8217;on ne peut pas donner d&#8217;info délicates par mail. Oui, google et tant d&#8217;autres t&#8217;envoient ton mot de passe par mail, mais Vidéotron non ! Hahaha ! Vidéotron c&#8217;est des vieux briscards qui savent bien que INTERNET IS DANGEROUS.<br />
Le gars n&#8217;oublie pas de préciser dans son email &#8220;Un rappel: ne pas payer votre facture peu importe la raison affecte votre cote de crédit chez Vidéotron.&#8221;</p>
<p>7- Je lui réponds un mail incendiaire, pour mon bien plus que pour le sien, sachant pertinemment l&#8217;inutilité d&#8217;une telle démarche. Puis je prends contacts avec le support par clavardage.</p>
<p>8- Le support par clavardage m’explique qu&#8217;ils vont devoir supprimer mon compte, pour que je me réinscrive. Là ma tête chute littéralement sur mon bureau sous le poids de l&#8217;affliction.<br />
Ces gars là ne sont pas capables de faire marcher le classique &#8220;j&#8217;ai oublié mon login&#8221; et au lieu de réparer leur site, effacent tout et forcent le client à refaire l&#8217;inscription (autrement dit faire leur boulot à leur place).</p>
<p>9- Le support par mail réagit à mon mail incendiaire de l&#8217;étape 7. Leur mail contient la phrase &#8220;Nous sommes désolés de l&#8217;information qui vous a été transmise dans notre message précédent.&#8221; mais ils m&#8217;expliquent aussi que je dois me retaper l&#8217;inscription.</p>
<p>10- je me réinscris et j’obtiens le message : « L&#8217;identifiant saisi est celui d&#8217;un utilisateur déjà inscrit.<br />
Veuillez vérifier votre nom d&#8217;utilisateur. »<br />
Là j&#8217;ai failli avoir une attaque de haine fulgurante et transpercer mon écran avec mon clavier avant de comprendre que mon pseudo était juste déjà pris.</p>
<p>Je m&#8217;arrête là, car ça dure lontemps, et ce n&#8217;est pas fini. A l&#8217;heure ou j&#8217;écris ils sont encore sur la brêche, ils tentent de rattraper le coup en m&#8217;appelant sur mon fixe à domicile, pourtant lors de nos échanges par chat ils m&#8217;ont demandé 2 fois un numéro où ils pouvaient me joindre et je leur ai donné 2 fois mon numéro de portable. </p>
<p>Je me suis dit qu&#8217;il fallait que je pose tout ça par écrit. Soyez indulgent, cet article a une vocation thérapeutique.</p>

<h3><span style="font-family:Arial;">Now &#8220;The cable providers have a significant speed advantage over most of Canada&#8217;s major phone companies, which provide internet connections over phone lines. Bell and Telus, the two biggest phone companies, are offering speeds with a current maximum of about 15 megabits at a cost of $60 and $53 per month, respectively. <span style="color:#ff0000;">In Quebec, Bell has been hemorrhaging phone and internet customers to Videotron, which offers better speeds and prices.</span></span></h3>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">Many of the cable companies are using a network technology known as DOCSIS 3.0, which actually lets them offer speeds higher than 50 megabits.</span></p>

The company announced its new Ultimate High-Speed Internet service with a top download speed of 50 megabits per second, up from 18, and a monthly usage allowance of 175 gigabytes in select parts of the Greater Toronto Area. I now do realize that I have been told many times now by Bell on the phone, on the net that my internet account matter now has been escalated to the Highest level at Bell, specially Bell executive care services, and that as usual I  have been lied too. Bell should pay for internet throttling, Breach of contract too. Telus says Bell should pay for internet throttling dispute: Telus Corp. is supporting consumer groups and small service providers in seeking legal costs from Bell Canada Inc. in a dispute over the throttling of internet speeds. An agreement they too had falsely breached now too. Now Bell Sympatico&#8217;s executive care  Sasha Rollins had  complained to me in writing 3 times back that in the last 18 months I have written 280 letters of rightful complaints to Bell about their inadequate, pretentious, services, even their false breach of their contract obligations. Me I am even next still even rightfully complaining to Bell Sympatico now that I had even firstly to to write any of these 280 letters of complaints to Bell Sympatico, and I as a direct result do even rightfully still do demand full payment of 2500 dollars from Bell Sympatico NOW  for all my wasted time in even having now to do so now as well, plus further payment for the many years I had paid for a high speed internet services but never got one from Bell Sympatico as well. <p><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) was created for the purpose of ensuring broadcasting and telecommunications systems serve the Canadian public and ensure that Canadians have a wide variety of options to create and view works of media or communicate across the country and the entire world.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">We, the undersigned, believe that the CRTC has become a burden on the Canadian public and are failing to perform their duties in the interest of the Canadian public and that of <strong>a fair and unbiased</strong> telecom policy.</span></p>
<h1><span style="font-family:Arial;"><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;">Scrap the CRTC, petition urges  An online petition to dissolve the CRTC  . The petition, at <a href="http://dissolvethecrtc.ca/">http://dissolvethecrtc.ca/</a>   and on   Facebook and Twitter,  was started Saturday by Mike Lerner, a 23-year-old Ottawa software company employee, who was frustrated by a decision to allow Bell Canada to institute usage-based billing on its wholesale internet customers. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission last week provisionally approved Bell&#8217;s request to require independent companies such as TekSavvy and Acanac, which rent parts of its network to supply their own services, to charge customers by how much they download.Independent providers typically offer customers hundreds of gigabytes of usage where Bell&#8217;s most popular service allows only 50 gigabytes a month. Smaller providers now say they have just under three months to migrate their customers on to similar usage models. Once those plans are implemented, they say, their services will be indistinguishable from Bell&#8217;s.  The CRTC, the petition says, is failing in its mandate to protect competition and look out for the interest of Canadian consumers and has for the past three years shown &#8220;undue preference in the interest of commercial entities and their preference for traditional business models over competing models that would create competition.&#8221; &#8220;We, the undersigned, believe that the CRTC has become a burden on the Canadian public and are failing to perform their duties in the interest of the Canadian public and that of a fair and unbiased telecom policy,&#8221; it says.Lerner told CBC News the government needs to replace the current regulator with a body that is staffed by people who are in touch with the new technology and competition models being introduced by the internet.&#8221;You need some people who have experience with telecom but you also need some people who understand the new types of competition. <p><span style="font-family:Arial;">This is all really unacceptable. Monopolistic, big bad Bell is allowed to violate basic  contract laws as well again.</span></p>

Nothing but hundreds of middle aged women who have never used bittorrent, never downloaded a software update, and never used an open source application.  People completely out of touch how technology is used today!   What DO they care about? Their Big Pension Countdown!&#8221;</span></div>

They all need to be brought down a few notches. I&#8217;m convinced the CRTC is hindering the advance of technology and broadcasting in this country.&#8221;</span></span></span></div>

Enough pandering to big business interests. I urge all Canadians to support this initiative. The consequences of not supporting this and net neutrality will diminish the online experience for all Canadians for years to come. &#8220;  </span></span></span></div>

This consumer price gouging perversity has got to stop. I asked the Liberals and Iggy to rightfully speak out against this, and I am  still waiting to hear from them? Why are they not talking about this as well?</strong></span></strong></span></h1>
<h1><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:medium;"><span style="font-size:medium;"><strong>Sadly to many of us are like sheep, we do what we are told, because we are fearful of negative consequences, sheep are often afraid of their own shadows as well.. but unfortunately we do not have the luxury of being abused, whether it is verbally, physically, mentally, or what ever.. cause the abusers tend not to stop their abuses upon us unless they themselves do feel some real , personal negative consequences in reality. I too have found when being abused that screaming rape in a loud voice in public, full public exposure and calling the police, demanding the appropriate rightfully prosecution works the best.. sadly the too often lazy, pretentious, inadequate police, watchdogs  themselves can be a real part of the problem and not the solution, so I next expose the bad cops and all the bad watchdogs, politicians  readily as well.</strong></span></span></h1>

<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has approved a request by Bell Canada to implement usage-based billing for its wholesale internet customers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">The decision, made on an interim basis, could result in lower download limits for customers of smaller companies such as Teksavvy and Acanac that rent portions of Bell&#8217;s network to provide their own internet services.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Smaller ISPs, which typically allow customers to download hundreds of gigabytes a month, may be forced to lower their limits to Bell levels. Bell&#8217;s most popular plan allows customers to download 50 gigabytes a month.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">The CRTC on Wednesday also approved a request from Bell that will allow the company to charge small ISPs 75 cents for every gigabyte over 300 that their customers use.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Smaller ISPs had fought the requests and said if granted, their services would become indistinguishable from Bell&#8217;s. The CRTC last year also allowed Bell to extend its traffic management practices, where certain uses of the internet such as peer-to-peer file-sharing are slowed or &#8220;throttled,&#8221; to smaller ISPs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Independent companies are therefore required to throttle their own customers as well.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Although the CRTC ruled in favour of Bell during the throttling dispute, it also launched an inquiry into the larger issue of net neutrality, or how much control internet providers should have over the connections they provide to customers. The regulator is expected to make a ruling on net neutrality by the end of the year.</span></p>
<h3><span style="font-family:Arial;">Consumer concern</span></h3>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Internet experts said that with usage-based billing, the CRTC has once again ruled in favour of Bell at the expense of consumers.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;It raises significant competition concerns since it suggests that independent ISPs will further lose their ability to differentiate their services,&#8221; University of Ottawa internet law professor Michael Geist said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;It also calls into question Bell&#8217;s claims during the traffic management hearing that they can&#8217;t differentiate between providers since the implementation of [usage-based billing] would mean much more detailed info about end users.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Mirko Bibic, head of regulatory affairs for Bell, said the company&#8217;s network-management technology is capable of differentiating between wholesale customers for accounting and usage-based billing purposes but not for traffic shaping, a fact that was made clear in its filings during the CRTC hearing.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;Our statements to the CRTC were and have always been accurate,&#8221; he said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Bell stopped offering unlimited downloading to its own retail customers a few years ago. Throttling and usage-based billing are key parts of its strategy to fight congestion on its network. Critics, however, have said that Bell has so far failed to prove its network is congested.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">Rocky Gaudrault, head of Teksavvy, was angry with the CRTC&#8217;s decision and said it will limit his company&#8217;s ability to offer new services such as television over the internet and could see an increase to customers&#8217; bills of $10 to $20.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;Today&#8217;s decision has to send a clear picture to those the CRTC have to answer to,&#8221; he said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;Someone needs to step in and audit how these lawmakers come to their conclusions as predatory tactics, which last I checked were not allowed in Canada, are being allowed to march through the regulatory gates without any resistance, all while laughing in the face of both Joe competitor and Joe public.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">The CRTC has given small ISPs 90 days to prepare for the implementation of Bell&#8217;s usage-based billing.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8221; Today the CRTC just proved they are corrupt. Only a person of an IQ of less then 80 could not tell this is bad for consumers, Indy ISP&#8217;s and small home run businesses.  One of the board members of the CRTC is a former bell and rogers employee, I wonder how much he is taking under the table in cash or stocks.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;Unbelievable! The CRTC should be dismantled immediately and/or there should be an inquiry into it&#8217;s board members. The CRTC does not represent or protect the best interests of Canadians or any company other than the already established monopoly.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220;The CRTC screws Canadians.. AGAIN. This agency is rapidly wearing out its welcome. When Bell is wholesaling access to its system it has NO BUSINESS even knowing anything about the usage of individual customers of another company! It need only know the total usage by Teksavvy (or whoever else) and bill accordingly. Even the wording used by the CBC in this article is slanted. By expressing the issue this way &#8220;Smaller ISPs, which typically allow customers to download hundreds of gigabytes a month, may be forced to lower their limits to Bell levels. Bell&#8217;s most popular plan allows customers to download 50 gigabytes a month.&#8221; CBC is taking sides in a much more complex issue than this paragraph describes. Net neutrality NOW. &#8220;</span></p>

Or its out of business for his family for GOOD.  Bell doesnt want you using Usenet, P2P, Torrents, FTP, VOIP or YouTube HD without forking over 50% of your paycheck. <p><span style="font-family:Arial;">PS   Australia biggest ISP admits to lying Wednesday, August 12, 2009 &#124; 11:15 AM ET CBCNews.ca. Last week saw an interesting revelation from Telstra, Australia&#8217;s biggest phone and internet provider. New CEO David Thodey </span><a title="http://www.australianit.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25890544-15306,00.html CTRL + Click to follow link" href="http://www.australianit.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25890544-15306,00.html"><span style="font-family:Arial;">admitted to a court </span></a><span style="font-family:Arial;">that Telstra had lied to block rival internet service providers from accessing its network. Under previous CEO Sol Trujillo, an American, Telstra had told other ISPs that several of its downtown telephone exchanges were full so they couldn&#8217;t install their own equipment and thereby provide customers with their own services. There was, in fact, plenty of space but Telstra was playing dirty tricks to cut its competitors off at the knees.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">&#8220; These things ARE happening, perhaps not to the extent of demolishing bathrooms, but the lying about full areas definitely occurs. In fact, some small ISPs have had such problems with this that they advise potential new customers to sign up with Bell for a month (no contract) and then migrate over to the wholesaler. This is because when wholesalers put in the line request, they are often told that the customer can not receive DSL or that the customer will receive a much lower speed profile.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:Arial;">In regards to the Competition Bureau, our Bureau consciously ignores all anti-competitive behaviour from Bell. When Bell started throttling its retail customers, they lost a large number of subscribers to DSL wholesalers. Bell then unilaterally and magically decided that their network was congested because of wholesaler traffic and started throttling their wholesalers. This was an unbelievably anti-competitive move. However, how did the Competition Bureau respond? They referred all complaints to the CRTC, claiming that all telecommunications issues were the responsibility of the CRTC. Fast forward a few months. An association of small Canadian internet providers, the CAIP, files a tariff application with the CRTC asking for access to Bell&#8217;s new upgraded network. The CRTC agrees and gives Bell notice to submit their expected costs from this move. What does Bell do? Bell ignores the CRTC order and instead submits a proposal to impose Usage-Based-Billing on all wholesalers, with absolutely ridiculous overage fees of nearly $1 per GB, with no maximum penalty. The CRTC recently granted this proposal on an &#8220;interim&#8221; basis. This, despite the overwhelming submission of comments against the proposal. The CRTC even acknowledges that the proposal discriminates against wholesalers, but claims that it is not &#8220;unjust discrimination&#8221;? Huh? It is worthy to note that Bell Retail is NOT included in this proposal, and Bell only just today added a new $5 for 40GB insurance plan to its offered internet services. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Lors du dernier dévoilement de ses chiffres trimestriels, certains journalistes ont conclu que la récession fait mal à BCE.</p>
<p>Je veux bien mais il y a une chose qui fait encore plus mal à BCE et c&#8217;est pire qu&#8217;une récession.</p>
<p>Sa mauvaise réputation.</p>
<p>À part que par Bell Mobilité, je connais peu de gens dans mon entourage (et j&#8217;en connais du monde) qui sont clients de Bell.</p>
<p>Télé:  Vidéotron, Star Choice (Shaw), Cogeco.  Très peu avec Bell.</p>
<p>Internet:  Vidéotron, Cogeco, Arobas, Primus, plusieurs indépendants.  Très peu avec Bell.</p>
<p>Ligne résidentielle:  Vidéotron, Cogeco.  De moins en moins avec Bell.</p>
<p>Téléphone mobile: Vidéotron, Telus, Rogers, Fido, quelques indépendants, je dirais le tiers de mes connaissances avec Bell.</p>
<p>&#8220;J&#8217;abandonne ma ligne terrestre pour Vidéotron.  Bell sont trop chers et le service pourri&#8221;, de me dire un collègue.</p>
<p>&#8220;Fini la ligne terreste, le cellulaire avec Rogers fera mon affaire.  Bell charge trop cher&#8221;., de me dire un autre collègue.</p>
<p>&#8220;Je passe à Vidéotron pour Internet, Bell m&#8217;oblige à utiliser leur routeur.&#8221;, de me dire un ami.</p>
<p>Etc&#8230; etc&#8230;</p>
<p>Les gens en ont marre de Bell, de leur service à la clientèle coussi-coussa ou des rabais supposés qui ne viennent jamais.</p>
<p>Cela fait encore plus mal à un bilan trimestriel qu&#8217;une récession.</p>
<p>La grande BCE devrait renommer le nom de ses services et surtout améliorer son service à la clientèle.  Avoir une campagne marketing pour redorer son image.</p>
<p>Il serait grand temps sinon l&#8217;action de BCE risque de faire du surplace pendant très longtemps.</p>
<p>Où Vidéotron a réussi, Bell peut le faire.  Vidéotron a réussi à redorer l&#8217;image de son service à la clientèle.  On est passé de très médiocre à B+.  La seule lacune que je personnellement je peux reprocher à Vidéotron c&#8217;est de nous bullshiter sur l&#8217;offre de canaux HD et les canaux à venir.</p>
<p>Par exemple, ça fait trois ans que le service à la clientèle nous dit qu&#8217;elle offrira bientôt NFL Network.  Pourtant toujours rien.  Bell et Shaw l&#8217;offre depuis des lunes.  Je connais personnellement du monde qui ne passe pas à Vidéotron à cause des canaux offerts et le peu de choix de canaux HD.</p>
<p>Il faut avoir une télé HD pour comprendre et apprécier le signal HD.  Croyez moi ça fait toute une différence.  Vidéotron offre très peu de canal HD si on compare à Shaw, Cogeco et Bell.</p>
<p>Voici une très petite aperçu de certains canaux non offerts en HD par Vidéotron: GolTV, CNN, TLC, Bravo, Food TV, Fashion TV, Golf  Channel.</p>
<p>Il faut voir du sports en HD pour apprécier le HD.  Ne pas l&#8217;avoir c&#8217;est déçevant.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Utopia Image’s First Contract]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-144" title="UI_logo_002" src="http://anthonylacopo.wordpress.com/files/2009/06/ui_logo_0021.jpg?w=150" alt="UI_logo_002" width="30" height="30" />In the months following my departure from my permanent job, while prospecting potential customers, I was setting up servers; in order to develop basic services to sell. I contacted Adrien Claude Bance, an old colleague I met while working at Fusepoint, to help me with the configuration. I met with several potential customers around the region of Quebec with little luck. The ball began rolling in the month of July 2006, which also happened to be the month of my birthday, when I got a call from one of my contacts. I was asked if I was interested in conducting Satisfaction Surveys for <a href="http://www.videotron.com" target="_blank">Videotron</a>, a Canadian Cable Company. In that moment, it didn’t matter that I had never worked in a call center environment or that my operations were limited. I was convinced that I was going to offer the best survey solution that ever existed! On July 28th 2006, I had a meeting with the Vice President of Operations at <a href="http://www.videotron.com" target="_blank">Videotron</a> to show him how I was going to deliver our services. A couple of days later, early August, I got the green light, and was told that our services needed to go live by September 11th 2006. With an incredible amount of work needed to be accomplished and a line of credit almost at its maximum, I took on the task. The challenge was just beginning….</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">The following day, finally being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I told my wife the entire story on what had transpired throughout the last few months. As much as she was angry and disappointed that I had lied to her for so long, and for something so important, she understood exactly the reasons why I did it. She acknowledged that, had she and my family been aware, the likelihood of me leaving my job to start a company, especially considering all of our responsibilities, would have been slim. In that moment, an incredible sense of relief and a surge of positive energy ran through me and I was ready to start putting together the pieces that would allow me to start operating <a href="http://www.utopiaimage.com" target="_blank">Utopia Image</a> at a different level.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">There were 3 major parts to assemble in order for my solution to be offered: an office, call center agents and a survey software solution. The first two parts were time consuming but not really difficult to accomplish. I found a fully furnished office in Laval (Qc., Canada). Not having to do any renovation work or make any initial capital investments in a telephone system and office furniture, helped me save a lot of time and money. I then hired 10 agents, trained them and had them ready to start working as of September 11th 2006. The hardest part, and most crucial to our success, was coming up with the survey software. With my line of credit running low, I could not afford to invest in a very expensive software solution. While working towards my bachelor of law, I met a fellow law student who was also a software developer. He was able, in a very short time, to deliver an initial solution enabling me to get the project started with little capital investment. Utopia Image’s launch was being executed effectively and as planned. When September 11th 2006 arrived, the team was ready to launch our services. Initially, there were some technical issues with the software and IT infrastructure, but we were able to effectively resolve them as we progressed in delivering our services.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><strong>In retrospect</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">What I experienced from April 2006 to September 2006, was without a doubt a perfect example of what Life is all about for me: The opportunity and privilege we all have of experiencing what is available to us to the fullest extent. Challenging and taking a chance on my dreams gave me the opportunity of working towards realizing my full potential. If you don’t do it in this lifetime, when will you? Entrepreneurs view failure differently from the majority of people. We see it as an additional building block, helping us define who we are and build better and stronger projects in the future. Failures and successes are experiences that are used differently but hold equal value.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">There are a couple of very important pillars that helped me secure and deliver our solution effectively. The first was the relationship I had with the contact who introduced me to Videotron, and his belief that I was able to deliver a solution that would help Videotron gain a strategic advantage. The second is that having never worked in a call center, I brought forth a very unique perspective in my solution, in contrast to most of my competitors. The third was simply luck! Finding the right office space and someone to help me develop my survey software in such a short period enabled me to deliver on time. Finally, and maybe the most important one of all, is that I surrounded myself with people who sincerely wanted Utopia Image to succeed. Therefore, a lot of credit must be given to <a href="http://www.videotron.com" target="_blank">Videotron</a> and to all of my initial employees, including Adrien who joined me full time when Utopia Image was officially launched, in September of 2006.</p>

These Communication, ISP firms amongst others are known to inflate, advertise substantially higher speeds than the consumer will actual get next get on the average, and the  next related internet congestion cause web connectivity problems, and also reductions of the downloads speeds too.. </span></div>

Now Bell Sympatico&#8217;s executive care  Sasha Rollins had  complained to me in writing 3 times back that in the last 18 months I have written 280 letters of rightful complaints to Bell about their inadequate, pretentious, services, even their false breach of their contract obligations. Me I am even next still even rightfully complaining to Bell Sympatico now that I had even firstly to to write any of these 280 letters of complaints to Bell Sympatico, and I as a direct result do even rightfully still do demand full payment of 2500 dollars from Bell Sympatico NOW  for all my wasted time in even having now to do so now as well, plus further payment for the many years I had paid for a high speed internet services but never got one from Bell Sympatico as well. And I rightfully still expect this rightful  2500 dollars payment to me now from Bell Sympatico ASAP AS WELL , and  so also  NEXT  I too will demand an extra 250 dollars in payment  if they do not pay me my 2500 dollars COMPENSATION as soon as possible. And so the Circus with Bell Sympatico continues..</span><br />
