I LOVE the work of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and I am LOVING this Lanvin ad for SS2010 featuring the husband and wife team as the models, as well.  The couple met in art school and have been making beautiful images together for the past two decades.

Editorial antiguinho feito por Inez Van Lamsweerde e Vinoodh Matadin para a Vogue, contando com a presença mais do que especial de Gisele Bündchen. A ideia era mostrar grandes tendências da moda para o ano de 2009.

Por isso, apostaram em muitas silhuetas ajustadas (principalmente nas pernas e na cintura), preto/branco/dourado, blusas com tecidos fluidos e tranparentes, paetês, franjas, minissaias e saias lápis, abotinados e oxfords (todos com saltões❤ mega absurdos), calças skinny ou canelas a mostra com barras dobradas, cintão, paletós mais ajustados, cintura alta, collants (à la estrelas do pop), botões no estilo navy.

Acertaram em cheio, exceto pela calça boca de sino que vai demorar pra pegar totalmente, ainda mais com todo o sucesso que a skinny faz no mundo inteiro.

A W Magazine vestiu vários artistas com a coleção de primavera da Armani para provar que a criatividade pode tomar qualquer forma. As imagens em PB ficaram bem bonitas.

O editorial de moda da edição de dezembro da W Magazine, leva o título United Artists, reúne cantores, atores, compositores, dançarinos, enfim, vários artistas que usam os looks da coleção Primavera 2010 da Armani. Hugh Dancy, Peter, Sasgaard e Sophie Ausrer foram alguns desses ‘modelos’, misturando três linhas Armani: Emporio Armani, Armani Collection e Armani Privé. Quero logo ver o restante das fotos.

THE THREE CENSORED “WARRIORS”

Went to the beach today and it was a very relaxing Sunday for a workaholic, being a magazine addict I grabbed a couple on my way out and devour the pages laying on a beach towel while waiting for some friends to grab some grub. I’ve seen the “Bondage Warriors” from the September 2009 issue of VOGUE HOMMES JAPAN magazine before and maybe because of my last entry “Pork, Jews and Porn: Censorship in Saudi Arabia” I realized the obvious irony of it all. The 30-page-spread, S&M-inspired story of male bondage photographed by the iconic image-maker Steven Klein and styled by the very talented Nicola Formichetti has 3 full frontal nude shots in 3 different pages that will never see the light of day. Whether its good for Christianity, Government of Japan, or the main artistic statement of “produce-full-frontal-nudes-of-men-and-make-it-look-like-it-was-published-in-Saudi-Arabia-with-the-red-marker-pen” concept, I’m underwhelmed to say the least.

BREAST VS PENIS

Klein (self-portraits on the left), an american photographer based in New York is one of my personal heroes when it comes to pushing the envelope in the world of fashion, as a young photographer,  I’m perplexed when Lady Gaga’s breast (as shown above) appeared in the same issue and it’s not censored since breasts have been fair game in fashion for a long time, and penis have popped-out here and there, and not in porn mags but in blue chip magazines and ad campaigns like “supermodels” Evandro Soldati (Ford NYC) and the latest Calvin Klein Model, Jamie Dornan’s (Select London) full frontal nude (as shown below) for Visionaire #52 photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Andres Velencoso Segura (Wilhelmina NYC) by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for Arena Homme Plus magazine, Alex for Hercules Magazine photographed by Paola Kudacki, and martial arts star Samuel de Cubber in full glory with his legs apart and yes with his penis visible for Yves Saint Laurent men’s fragrance M7 “eight years ago” in 2002 created by the American designer Tom Ford. PULP OF AMERICA

Widely published from 1896 through the 1950s, PULP magazines pushed the envelope of sex, violence and gore in America. The inexpensive fiction magazines might be the granddaddy of all magazines in the business of “pushing envelopes” in american publication. Pulp magazines are a little over 1000 titles, including digests, one-shots and girly magazines. Things calmed down a little in the early 40’s when the Victorians got involved. The overt sadomasochism and racy sexual content got toned down considerably. Twenty one years later Steven Klein was born and like many other iconic fashion photographers being rebellious and controversial with their images they continued the legacy of the idea of “artistic rebellion”.

SELF-CONTRADICTION

In the book “Censoring sex: a historical journey through American media” by John E. Semonche, two quotes from the introduction pops up:

[A] sizable portion of the American public accepts censorship as an imagined “quick fix” solution to moral drift and other social ills… Fears of unbridled…sexuality, of a world without clear moral compass, and of the impact that a gigantic multimedia universe is having on our children, have contributed to the continued scapegoating of speech in America. (Marjorie Heins, 1998)

As a result of our ignorance, apathy, and fear, sex has to a great extent become by default the intellectual, moral and legal property of politicians, clerics, and ideologues. (John Heidenry, 1997)

As for me, the idea of pushing the envelope for the sake of art  to be pushed back by religion, government or self-contradiction is like re-living 1940’s again… in 2010, but thats only my two cents, I still love Mr. Klein regardless and my friends arrived with the paper bag of deliciousness from the nearby Deli.

Com uma lista de modelos famosos - Anja Rubik, Natasha Poly, Raquel Zimmermann, Myf Shepherd, Gerhard Freidl, Adrian Bosch, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Metvey Lykov, Jacquetta Wheeler, Jamie Bochert, Dree Hemingway, Christian Brylle, e Benoni Loos - fotografados por Inez van Lamsweerde e Vinoodh Matadin, com styled de Emanuelle Alt e maquiagem por Tom Pecheux.

A estilista Frida Gianini inspirou-se na colorida “era disco” com tecidos paetizados, leggings, sapatos meia-pata altíssimos, preto, tons de azul, mini dresses, knee-high boots, ombros estruturados, couro, muito brilho, e uma leve pegada rocker que é a cara dessa nova estação.

Como boa shoeholic que sou, estou ❤ eternamente aquele sapato da primeira foto. Sonho de consumo total!

Since catching a couple of shows on BBC4 and then getting the whole first series on DVD, I’ve been a big fan of Mad Men. Cocktails, cigarettes, held stares and great clothes make it unmissable, as do Donald and Betty Draper – the central stunning fractured couple.

January Jones, who plays Betty, is in Interview talking to none other than Jack Nicholson about the show, her story from teen model to actress and the modern woman. It’s a great interview and the shoot is magnificent – all poised looks, huge hair and 80s black. Shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the pictures are instant classics. Anja Kubik was alone at the the bags campaign. But as promised before, here are the shots of the whole group of pretty ladies (and guys) for the Gucci AW 09 campaign.

I love these shots. They are so stylish without trying too hard. Fun, young and rock and roll !  It definitely stands out from the usual Gucci style. I think this is a real revamp for the brand. Bringing Alt in and all those hot shot models sure does make a difference.

New fragrance alert! After “Flowerbomb” Viktor & Rolf will release their second perfume for women, named “Eau Mega”. The name is a play on the greek letter Omega. Viktor & Rolf were going for something fresh, but they wanted to stay away from sporty and lean more toward feminine; hence the name “Eau” for fresh, and “Mega” for that glamorous touch.

The photographs for the advertisement campaign are shot by Vinoodh Matadin and Inez van Lamsweerde. The campaign features model Rachel Zimmermann, who also fronted the Viktor & Rolf for H&M advertisements. The perfume will be in stores in October. Viktor & Rolf Eau Mega will be available in 30, 50 and 75 ml.

No ínicio de maio/09 a top número 1 do mundo e mais nova integrante da poderosa Ford Modells, Raquel Zimermmann, causou ao ser vista participando de um evento em Nova York linda (como sempre!) e loira.

Ao lado dos estilistas da Proenza Schouler, Jack McCollough e Lazaro Hernandez (foto acima), Raquel procurou não falar aos jornalistas sobre o motivo da mudança em seus cabelos. Pois é… Mas no mundo fashion nada parece ficar em secredo por muito tempo. Sites internacionais de moda logo revelaram a razão de tanto mistério: é que a top será um dos rostos da nova campanha de Jean Paul Gaultier. As fotos serão clicadas pela bombada dupla Vinoodh Matadin e Inez Van Lamsweerde (a mesma dupla fotografou Raquel para a  Gucci).

Além destas campanhas, na lista de Raquel estão ainda a Hermès, Shiseido, Giorgio Armani e a brasileira Animale.

O Larze mialam juz  wiecej dawno temu napisac, skonczylo sie na dodaniu edytorialu z nia w roli glownej by Weber. Teraz w Londku bedac, zakupilam sobie paryskie Vogue lutowe, w calosci poswiecone pannie Stone,  wiec chcac niechcac znowu zaczelam myslec o rozbuchanej blondynie..

Na czym polega fenomen tej 26 letniej ,urodzonej niedaleko Berlina – Holenderki? Gabarytowo nie przypomina lansowanego na pokazach i w edytorialach fashion – smuklego i drobnokoscistego dziewczecia. Lara jest masywna, ma szerokie biodra, mocne uda i duze piersi. Do tego charakterystyczna twarz i zeby ze slynna szpara miedzy gornymi jedynkami.

Zaczynala majac kilkanascie lat w Paryzu w agencji Elite, ale byla zbyt mloda, zbyt charakterystyczna a i charakterologicznie  niezbyt ugladzona. W kazdym razie Elite nie dalo rady jej wylansowac, udalo sie to dopiero agencji IMG, ktore do tej pory zajmuje sie kariera Lary. Lara jest nazywana anty modelka z racji swojej urody, gabarytow i wielu kontrowersyjnych sesji zdjeciowych. Jest porownywana do takich anty- modelek jak Kristen McMenamy, ,Milla Jovovich czy Guinevere Van Seenus. Wyroznia ja od nich owa wybujala cielesnosc przy jednoczesnie dziecinno-wulgarnej twarzy, kojarzacej sie momentami z mloda Brigitte Bardot.

Mozna Lare wielbic i mozna jej nie cierpiec, ja osobiscie miewam do niej dosyc skrajne uczucia – na jednych sesjach mnie powala na kolana, na innych drazni…Jednego nie mozna jej odmowic – jest niesamowicie charyzmatyczna, rozpoznawalna a to wlasnie dzieki takim cechom modelka ma szanse wybic sie z tlumu innych, stac sie top. Jest rowniez ulubienica wielu fotografow a przede wszytkim samej  naczelnej paryskiego Vogue’a – Carine Roitfeld.

W poswieconym Larze – lutowym Vogue,  mozna sie podelektowac 8 sesjami z jej udzialem. Mi najbardziej przypadla do gustu sesja mojego ukochanego mastera Stevena Kleina ( jakze by inaczej). Ten facet zwyczajnie sprawia, ze raz za razem ogladajac jego prace – zbieram szczeke z podlogi.

Bardzo tez (o dziwo) spodobala mi sie Lara by Terry Richardson. O dziwo bo ostatnio cos Terry mnie bardzo denerwuje, a po obejrzeniu albumu Terryworld uznalam go ostatecznie za masturbatora wlasnego stylu, dodatkowo dotknietego ciezkim przypadkiem narcyzmu.

Fajna jest tez Lara w obiektywie Hedi Slimane. Taka klasyczna, monumentalna…

Groteskowo i broadwayowsko zaszaleli z Lara – Inez van Lamsweerde i Vinoodh Matadin ( lubie ich foty ale zawsze lamie sobie jezyk na ich nazwiskach) . Lara na potrzeby sesji przeobrazila sie w rubaszna Mae West, sporo w niej tez z King Konga..

W stylu glamour, ladnie ale nudnawo ( jak to on potrafi) sfotogrfaowal Lare – dziadek Demarchelier

Proste i mocne beauty shooty popelnila Larze – Katja Rahlwes.

Nan Goldin jak zazwyczaj bez idealizacji, naciagania na fashion, w klimacie swoistych dokumentow i reportazy do jakich przyzwyczaila, fotografujac swoich przyjaciol z polswiatka.

No i na zakonczenie omawiania etytoriali z Larowego Vogue’a, moje zaskoczenie i zniesmaczenie – Lara by Peter Lindbergh. Jasne, ze dobre foty Peter zrobil.  Samym fotom nie mam nic do zarzucenia…Ale….kurcze..Piotrusiu moj kochany, wiesz jak bardzo Cie lubie, szanuje Twoja tworczosc i styl , czy naprawde nie mozna bylo choc na milimetr odsunac sie w tej sesji od tego co juz niejednokrotnie popelniles? Identyczny plener, identyczne stylizacje, nawet pozy identyczne… Takie same foty ogladalismy juz wszyscy z ta roznica, ze zamiast Lary pozowala Naomi, Tatiana, Linda czy Eva. Naprawde nie bylo czasu by zrobic chociaz minimalnie inna sesje?  Nie miales weny?Chory byles? Faktycznie czasu zabraklo?Carine za malo zaplacila? Czy zwyczajnie Ci sie nie chcialo angazowac…Plaza, czarne tlo,meski garnitur, papierosek i wyjdzie jak zawsze dobrze. W koncu Lindberg focil. Jasne. Foty wyszly dobrze, jak zawsze…Dobrze i nic wiecej.

Poza fotami w lutowym Vogue, chce jeszcze  przytoczyc inne moje ulubione foty i wizerunki fenomenalnej Lary.

Na przyklad nocna sesje by Mert&Marcus,  gdzie Lara przywodzi mi na mysl jakiegos pieknego weza albo krwiopijce:

Zreszta kazdy wie, ze udzial w wizjach Juergena Tellera niekoniecznie oznacza fotki, ktorymi bedzie sie mozna pochwalic rodzinie, chlopakowi i kolezankom modelkom:) Mimo to i tak uwielbiam Jurgena  i ta jego slabosc do brudnych, nylonowych rajtuz:)

Lubie tez Lare romantyczna, buduarowo-pensjonarska

ale i tak najbardziej w demonicznej wersji u mojego prywatnego foto boga ( czyli Stevena Kleina)

W kaciku muzycznym kawalek, ktory idealnie mi muzycznie pasuje do Lary, zreszta wizualnie rowniez. Rola wampirzycy, ex kelnerki z przydroznego baru na jakims amerykanskim zadupiu bylaby stworzona dla Lary Stone. Kto wie, moze niedlugo kino upomni sie o wybujala blondyne o twarzy wulgarnego dziecka..
