It started me thinking about sex and why I’ve had sex at various times in my life?

TMZ.com is reporting today, that the ex-boyfriend of Carrie Prejean, who she allegedly gifted him with her masterbation text download,has come out to tell the world that he was asked by her to lie about her actual age that she was, when she made the XXX video.

Some failed Christians have attempted to halt the distribution of the sex scene by constructing a lie about Carrie’s age at the time, which they say was 17, to make it a crime to view it, because she was underage when she produced it.

Some even have alluded to me that if I did get an opportunity to see it, then I could be brought up on charges that are reprehensible.

Shame on them, beause that was another lie that Carrie got over on you.Their motivation is not to advance Christian morality via Carrie, but it is to save face, and to cover-up their hipocrasy.She was a legal adult when the tape was produced.

On the Larry King show, she got all upset when Larry asked her why she settled her case for no money against the Pageant organization.

She answered Larry by telling him it was an innapropriate question, and then she took her mike off, and began scolding Larry.

She must have known that she is not worthy of being on any show, unless we can talk about the sex tape.Notice she had no problem bashing gay people, but,….when it came to her sexual preference, she was having no part of it.

I applaud Larry for his in depth reporting, and his unwilligness to have her control what questions he asked her. He would immediatley loose credibility with his audience if he did not ask the newsworthy questions.

My question to Miles and all the rest of you fake false Christians…at what point do you repent for your sin of unleashing this nutjob on the world.

I know she is cute, but isn’t your credibility with the Christian crowd destroyed, because it certainly should be, if all things in life were fair and equal.

Being fair and equal with all people in our world, including all of my gay friends and yours, is the last Christian value you are interested in following.

Q: I don’t really know how to ask this so I’ll just get right to it. I’m still a virgin and I’m the only one left in my group. All my girl friends lost their virginity this year and have been telling me how much it hurt. Now I’m scared! Is it really that bad? And is there anything I can do to….prepare? Or should I just buy some cats now and grow old as a single, virgin spinster?

I’m really freaking out here.

A: Ok, hold up. It is definitely not time to start hoarding cats. Unless you really like cats, in which case, stock up! But don’t throw in the towel on sex just yet. Every woman is different when it comes to what your first time feels like. If you’ve been wearing tampons, riding horses, and straddling balance beams in gymnastics, your hymen may already be broken, so it might hurt less. On the flip side, if you’re very tiny and trying to insert a junior sized tampons sends you through the roof, you might face some serious discomfort.

But even if you are in the latter group, there are things you can do, especially if you’re in a relationship and can anticipate when it will happen (which offers your best shot at a good experience, in my opinion. Losing your virginity to a beer-sloshed one-night stand who can’t remember your name doesn’t bode well for gentle, compassionate connection between you and your partner. But then, you know that.).

My patient Adrianna had so much pain just from foreplay that she avoided sex until she was twenty-nine. (Every Christmas she would send me a card with the Virgin Mary on it and sign it “Love, the Virgin.”)  Always in serious relationships, she would put it off until that inevitable moment when she knew she would either have to lose her virginity or break up with the guy. Every year, when she reached that fork in the road, she broke some poor guy’s heart, rather than ‘fessing up to her fears.

Then she met Ed, and he swept her off her feet.  After he proposed, she approached me, begging me to help her give it all up to Ed.  Here’s what I told her to do:

How To Lose Your Virginity As Painlessly as Possible

1. Purchase a good sexual lubricant like Astroglide or K-Y Jelly.

2. Begin to prepare weeks, even months in advance. (Note: preparation also includes getting comfortable and intimate with your own body!)  The vagina is an elastic organ designed to fit a baby through it.  Your virginal vagina may not like being stretched by an erect penis, but it’s willing to negotiate. Begin by starting to dilate the vagina with the smallest thing you can insert into your vagina comfortably – a pinkie finger, a junior sized tampon, or a thumb. Lube it up and gently insert it inside the vagina.

3.  Notice the muscles that surround your vagina. Are they tense or relaxed? Does the object or finger slide easily into the vagina, or does it hurt? Make a conscious effort to release the tension from those muscles. Hold the object in for 10 minutes.

4. If that doesn’t hurt at all, try gradually increasing the size of what you insert into your vagina- a super-plus sized tampon, two fingers, or a small dildo. Repeat the exercise with the larger object until you find something that begins to stretch you and feel uncomfortable. When you reach that point, hold the object still for 10 minutes, and repeat this every day until it no longer hurts. (Don’t forget the lube, which is key). You may bleed during some of these exercises, which is nothing to worry about, as long as the bleeding is slight.

5. When you notice that it no longer hurts to insert that object inside, go bigger. Keep increasing the size of what you place into the vagina until you can accommodate a dildo that mimics the size of your partner’s penis.

6. Once you can keep the dildo in place for 10 minutes without pain, try moving it in and out of you, mimicking what your partner would do during intercourse. Go slowly, and make sure you have control of how the dildo moves. Feel free to play around with other types of sexual stimulation or other sex toys during this process. Remember, sex is supposed to be fun! Feel free to invite your partner in for the party, if you feel comfortable. If not, make it a private affair until you’re ready for the big night.

7. When you can do this without pain, you’re ready for the main event. Encourage your partner to have fun with foreplay. The more aroused you feel, the less likely it is to hurt.

8. Spend a moment taking deep, relaxing breaths. Concentrate on relaxing the muscles around the vagina to make way for your lover to enter you. Visualize your vagina as a flower gently opening to receive the love you share with your partner.

9. When you’re ready, lube up and try a woman-on-top position, which gives you more control over the depth of penetration and the speed of the thrusting. Take it slow. Listen to your body. Warn your partner that you may not be able to finish the job. If need be, you can ask him to stop and take care of him in other ways, if you know what I mean.

Remember: practice makes perfect. It gets better with time – I swear. If your first time isn’t glorious, don’t be discouraged. My first time was God-awful, but in time, our bodies learn what to do and you’ll be making beautiful music in the sack before you know it.

I was at the coffeehouse yesterday evening, sipping some straight black arabica, scribbling poems in my notebook, and watching a hipster couple converse across the way when a thought struck me.

When I was in high school, I spent close to nothing on girls. The only thing I ever bought for the girl I lost my virginity to was a spinach quesadilla and a Coke.

In college, I still spent very little on the ladies. If you have a basic level of game and aren’t a total weirdo, you and a young sweetie-pie can bond over cups of Keystone Light piss water straight from the kegger. Just make sure you can find your way home without getting jumped or stopped by the cops.

But when you graduate and enter the real world, suddenly you’re expected to go on these things called “dates.” And half of the time, the chick expects you to pick up the tab! Even if you don’t have to pay for her, you still have to go to an “acceptable” venue, like a cafe or a classy sit-down restaurant, which generally cost more then the greasy Mexican take-out joint down the street or the five bones that the kegger-master charges for all you can chug.

Now, the median age at which people get married here in New York is 28.9 for men and 27.0 for women. (For the U.S. in general, it’s 26.7 for men and 25.1 for women.) When you propose in this country, you’re expected to spend an ungodly amount of money on a wedding ring for your betrothed. Then you have to spend thousands, maybe tens of thousands, for the actual wedding and honeymoon (even if you get outside help, expect to plunk down a pretty sum). Keep in mind that you’re statistically likely to be proposing to a woman in her mid-to-late twenties. Society at large still considers marriage to be an ultimate goal for men, deriding those who don’t want to take the plunge (hat tip: Talleyrand).

Now, we know that the peak of a girl’s sexual market value is in her late teens/early twenties. After 25, her value starts declining slowly, and after thirty, it plummets. Not to mention that unless she is a chaste angel, her number of partners is only going to go up. Idle vaginas are the slut’s workshop.

So basically, the conventional wisdom of the dating world mandates that a man has to spend INCREASING amounts of money on a woman as her sexual value DECREASES! The only time this relationship collapses is when the woman in question hits cougar years and her value has gone so low that not even the marriage-industrial complex’s nonstop fusillade of lies can obscure what can be seen with your own eyes.

What this means is if you’re a beta male (the majority of men), in order to gain access to that sacred portal of pleasure every woman has betwixt her thighs, you’re expected to shell out cash for dates. If you want to have an LTR, you’ve got to shell out a whole lot more. And when you finally pop the question, like the good little obedient serf you are, you’ve got to spend three months’ salary on a goddamn ring and four or five figures on the ceremony and related shit. All this so your blushing, mid-to-late twenties bride, who likely spent her salad years hoovering down the jizz of players, bad boys, pickup artists, and other alphas FOR FREE, can brag to her fellow yentas about how she’s snared her a nest slave husband.

Well, fuck dat noize. I’m no economist, but a commodity that gets more expensive as it becomes increasingly worthless sounds like one only a sucker would buy – and make no mistake, when you get married, you’re effectively “buying” a woman. Anonymous Craigslist truth-teller, regale us with your offensive wisdom:

Cutting through all the B.S., what you suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring my money. Fine, simple. But here’s the rub, your looks will fade and my money will likely continue into perpetuity…in fact, it is very likely that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won’t be getting any more beautiful!

So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation accelerates! Let me explain, you’re 25 now and will likely stay pretty hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you! By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then we wouldn’t need to have this difficult conversation.

It’s thoughts like this that make you realize the true value of game. I’ve had more success with women then most guys I’ve known and I’ve paid much less then them to achieve it. I hate to review any movie,traditional or porn, before I actually view it for myself. To that end, I can not wait to see for myself if it was worth it for her to drop her lawsuit against Donald Trumps Miss Universe pageant.

I am relegated to heresy, but what I have heard from other news outlets, and Carrie Prejean herself, on The View this morning,I will have to take their word for it.

First of all, it is probably unusual behavior for a Christian anti-sex advocate to have starred in a homemade gift solo sex tape that was leaked to the media.That is probably a hard obstacle for her to overcome.It does call in to question her credibility.

It is also going to cause her conservative backers to back away from her. She obviously was planning on withholding this porno movie, while she gains fame as a virginal gay bashing beauty queen, but as most doctors and lawyers would tell you, a lack and withholding of all of the facts can only lead to a disaster.

I know it is embarrassing, but to be revealed in such a public way, is insurmountable.

I feel for her, but her story should stand as a cautionary tell to those that seek to judge other people, get your own house in order, and don’t worry about the affairs of others.

It is what she gets for putting out negative energy into the world,and I view her fall in much the same way as I view the downfall of Jimmy Swaggert.

The both of them are closeted freaks.

Prejean, the former Miss California USA, says she made the sex flick of herself alone when she was 17, for an ex-boyfriend.

I never got a gift like this from any of my girlfriends when I was 17….women are way different now, than when I was a teenager.My son better watch out.

“It was me by myself. There was no one else with me. I was not having sex,” the controversial beauty queen told the Today show. “I sent it to my boyfriend at the time… ,” she added. “I think now they call it ’sexting.’”

 She appeared on the Today show to talk about her book “Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate and Political Attacks.” She said the emergence of the tape was just an attempt to silence her.

Prejean is trying to act empowered by ”ownig up to it and taking responsibility for it”…

I think she may want to think about all the little Christian girls that were looking up to her, that are confused by her latest actions, and they might think that it is okay to participate in ‘’sexting” just to be like Carrie.

She should be ashamed. I think she may have leaked this tape in order to promote her latest ”victimized” book.

Oh the hypocrisy.

A comment on a YouTube clip concerning this case sums up the facts…She was caught lying as she lied on her contract, she is using God as an excuse to her despicable behavior, those photos exposing her breasts are not old at all, and she lied about it, Shannon also said that they were having problems before the contest…

I have no problem with pornography,gay marriage,Christianity, or personal freedoms.Ido have a lot against self-proclaimed moral police, that can not live up to their own moral code.

I’ve settled into the comfortable routine of teaching at the new center (EACC) at 5:30 every day. It’s actually a pretty sweet deal, I think: it gives me a little leeway to sleep in and be productive throughout the first part of the morning, though (truth be told) I’ve been pretty lazy. I’ve gotten out of the blog-bef0re-ten routine and I’m trying my most desperate to get back in. Though the upside is that I’ve been pretty good about grabbing a copy of al-Shuruq every morning and perusing the headlines and trying to figure out what’s going on in the big, wide, Arab world.

I try to keep classes light and joke around with students; sometimes, classes even devolve into big round-table discussions that get everyone talking and joking with one another. And such instances allow me to really distinguish (with a little thought) who’s fluent (or approaching) and who’s not. And such questions really make you think about your own Arabic fluency, and the things that make you fluent.

For instance, embedded questions. In English, it’s more polite to ask, “Do you know what time it is?” than “What time is it?” While both constructions are possible in Arabic (technically), I don’t think that many people bother with the bedded question. Questions are questions.

One of my classes is overwhelmingly female; during one of these such breakdowns, nearly all the women were pretty vocal about men not finding jobs and how terrible it was. They were critical of how much weddings cost, how showy they were, and how the government was financing poorer couples’ large “group weddings” (when instead they should be helping the couple in their first year). Yet when the subject of their own weddings came up, nearly all of the younger, unmarried women declared that the husband should pay for everything. Everything. Party, caterer, hotel, honeymoon, everything. Dresses here run upwards of 20,000 LE, by the way. Only one student, Reem (a rather stylish hijabi with three small sons), said that she had had a small wedding with close family and friends, and that she and her husband struggled through their first year. She declared it made them closer.  I’m inclined to agree; I kind of hope to struggle a little through those first years with my wife. My parents did, after all.

Most harassment problems are actually blamed on the steadily increasing age of marriage for men: most don’t get married until well into their 30s due to financial difficulties: a man has to provide a (purchased) furnished flat, have a steady job, and support his wife in the lifestyle to which she is accustomed. That’s a ridiculous amount for the man to provide: the wife doesn’t really bring much of anything in the way of materials — except her virginity, which is apparently now under fire. Kind of ridiculous. Al-Azhar and a dozen other religious organizations apparently think that once you can’t be certain of a girl’s virginity, society collapses. Apparently every one is potentially promiscuous.

I’m not devaluing a girl’s virginity: here, it’s highly prized. And from a cultural perspective, I suppose that’s to be acknowledged as valuable. I just question the value that’s placed on it and why; it seems a little too commodified for me to be comfortable as a person. I also asked my students about divorcees, and they told me that it wasn’t typical — and that divorced women tend not to do too well on their own, although it happens. There is a stigma against it.

But that’s another rant altogether.

Time to grade papers. More later, I suppose.

I have written several times about virginity and abstinence and how it’s overrated and can actually wreak havoc on one’s life. Feministing wrote a post about Why Everyone Should Have Pre-Marital Sex. You should check it out. Some highlights:

You know, a common misconception people have about my work. . .  is that because I argue that women shouldn’t be held up to some bizarre virginal ideal, I must be promoting promiscuity. Of course, this line of thinking is incredibly telling – too many people are only able to see women’s sexuality within the virgin/whore binary, so a sexuality or identity that’s nuanced or complex is beyond them.

The post itself is mostly a general statement. I find the comments interesting. Also, apparently the poster has written a book called The Purity Myth. I must read it!

How hard can it be to find the right man? I mean really, why are we so picky? Why do their little habits annoy us so much? Is it them, or is it us? “Self,”

My dating history has been…average.

Some Highlights (A.K.A. “low-lights”):

Boy #1) Great guy! We adored each other. We could talk on the phone for hours at a time, stopping only when the familiar refrain of “You’re running up the phone bill!” appeared (courtesy of parents). Deal-breaker: He couldn’t kiss to save his life. In fact, it was so bad we’re probably just lucky it hasn’t taken one by now.

Boy #2) Fun guy! I was his first girlfriend but he was hunky, tall, built, French AND English, and an Olympic fencer. He moved really slowly, which is just what I like. I like to build a friendship first. Deal-breaker: His other ladies and lax dental hygiene. He didn’t cheat on me, but he would talk about his mom, friends, sister, MY FRIENDS all the time. I was left with the constant urge to say, “remember me!?” Also, the fact that you have a girlfriend doesn’t mean that you get to forget to brush your teeth. Come on people!

Boy #3) Sweet guy! Sweet guy also had ZERO dating experience. He’d call me several times daily, yet when we were together he’d have nothing to say. Whenever he walked me back to my door he’d say his good-byes and continue to stand there. After he left, you could bet he’d knock on the door again within the next five minutes. I was always left with the feeling that he called his mom after our dates, and he asked if we could schedule our classes together…ON THE THIRD DATE. Deal-breaker: Everything about him. That boy had to go.

“Self,” I say to myself, “I’m sick of dating inexperienced dudes who expect me to do all the work in a relationship.” I pleaded with The Power(s) That Be for a decent guy, with some experience and dental hygiene. If he happened to like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and other products of Joss Whedon, who was I to complain? I was sick of dating the safe guy, but I didn’t want a bad boy.

Then I get what I want. I get an experienced guy who’s been through his own dark times. He’s older and smart. He’s not a hunkity hunk, but he is pretty cute. He knows his way around both a kiss and a toothbrush. He wants to be with me, but not in a smothery way. He gets my jokes. He likes Joss Whedon. What in the name of high heaven could be the problem?

I don’t have an answer for that specifically. Welcome to my first, real-life dating dilemma. There doesn’t seem to be something wrong, at least nothing major, except for the fact that something’s wrong. I suppose it could be that we have no history.

The major vibe I’m getting right now is that, while it’s not his sole goal in life to get into my pants it’s definitely still on his to do list. This is the first time I’ve ever felt like I’m something a guy wants to conquer. Also, both he and guy #3 do this weird look that signifies that they’re about to do something romantic. I suppose Boy #1 did the same “I’m staring deeply into your eyes” thing, but that’s because he loved me. Or maybe I just bought it because I loved him back. I think it must have been some combination thereof. But with Boys #3 and #4 It’s like they’re imitation their concept of love.

Also, I’ve seen Boy #4 talk about previous girlfriends and I’m not a fan of how he talks about them. He’s not mean, but they have no names. They’re “my ex” or “my last girl” or some such thing. Never, “this girl I once dated” or (god(s) forbid) her name!

I feel this weird pressure to do things that I’m just not ready to do and that I frankly won’t be ready to do for a good long while.

I’m probably the only person I know who has chosen abstinence for reasons that aren’t religious. I’m just too highly motivated to deal with the downside of sex right now. I have goals and ambitions and a deep desire not to get pregnant or infected with HIV/AIDS right now. I know: “use a condom,” “take birth-control,” and “get tested.” But I’m still hearing, “only 98% percent effective,” “putting it on wrong,” “wrong results.”

I have no plans to be celibate for the rest of my life. I don’t even plan to wait until marriage. But is it really such a crime to want to wait until I’m both in love with a guy and have a degree? I think not. Are the only people who wait losers, geeks, and religious freaks? Again, I’m sensing misnomer. Is sex really so important that it has to occur within a certain time frame? Puberty and menopause are the only relevant time frames that come to mind. Most importantly, is a relationship only a relationship if there’s sex? If so, then why is it me who has to sacrifice my safety? If not, then what’s all the hubbub about? I’m just selective with my partners, and I’m putting my foot down. I’m responsible, not a future spinster. I’m motivated, not a ball basher. I’m a woman, not a blow-up doll. I want to have kids one day. I’d be a kick ass mom, but that day is not anywhere close to my near future.

I’m re-evaluating my image of the perfect guy (while noting that this is subject to change): All of the above requests are still valid. Also, a guy with a similar background (in terms of political views and personal values) is a must. A guy that cares about the people in his life, but wants to make room for me is preferred. Someone with siblings would be sweet. Someone older, but not in a creepy way. Someone who knows what he could have (sex, sex, and more sex) and has had it before, but is willing to wait for me to be ready, no matter how long it takes. I want a friend who’s my boyfriend, but different. It’s vague, but it’s true. Is it really that unattainable? I doubt it.

But I am really finally seeing why finding the right guy is so difficult. It’s the same reason that people want to have sex before they’re ready. It’s so hard to date anyone. And by that I mean that the majority of people you’ll date aren’t actually people; they’re manifestations of what people expect they should be: whores, players, good girls, bad boys, and the one’s your mom will love. When you finally do find someone who is willing to stop acting, there’s the whole matter of deciding if that’s what you want from a guy. It looks like I’ve got a whole lot of work ahead of me. When practicality becomes, a view that’s “so romantic that it’s unrealistic,” then I entreat society to re-evaluate its expectations and stop expecting me to change mine. All I’m expecting is good people behaving sensibly. It’s really not that romantic.

So my answer to the giant question mark that is the world of dating is: It’s not me, it’s you.
