Zum Spiel muss man ja eigentlich nicht viel sagen. Die Super Nintendo Version ist bis heute ein Knaller, Zeitlos trifft es wohl am besten. Unten seht Ihr das Video der japanischen Version. Also Leute wenn es soweit ist, bitte zugreifen und seinem besten Freund/Freundin einen auswischen, am besten mit einem roten Schildkrötenpanzer.</p>

<p>Nintendo News on Twitter is reporting that in addition to <em>Super Mario Kart</em> being available on Virtual Console there are other classic Nintendo titles due to hit the service before Christmas.   These titles are rumored to be <em>Pilotwings</em>, and <em>Super Smash Bros.,</em> both titles available for the Nintendo 64.</p>
<p>I have not played either of those titles so personally I&#8217;m not super excited about them.  I&#8217;ve got Brawl, which is a great enough game that I don&#8217;t really need to go back and play the more limited version from the Nintendo 64.  While I&#8217;ve never played <em>PilotWings</em> I would be interested in giving it a chance.</p>
<p>Have any of you out there played that and could tell me what to expect?  Are you excited about any of these titles now being available.  I&#8217;m still holding out for Yoshi&#8217;s Island on SNES to be released.  I have an original cart for the game, but no SNES to currently play it on.  I would buy it to be able to play through it again.  What titles are you looking to see released on the service?</p>

<p>For over three years, Nintendo has been offering some of their best games from days gone by over the Wii&#8217;s Virtual Console. It&#8217;s also taken them the same amount of time to release one of their all time SNES classics; <em><strong>Super Mario Kart</strong></em>. The delay was a deliberate effort to make <em><strong>Mario Kart Wii</strong></em> more desirable despite the fact it&#8217;s been more than capable of selling on it&#8217;s own merits. From Monday in the US &#8211; coming to Europe shortly after &#8211; we&#8217;ll be able to download <strong><em>SMK</em></strong> for <strong>800</strong> Wii Points (<strong>£4</strong>) and play the first and best version of the kart racer. It&#8217;s a shame that no enhancements have been added such as online multiplayer but that&#8217;s more of a pipe dream than an realistic possibility.</p>
<p>Not stopping at that classical offering, Nintendo will also be releasing the SNES descender <em><strong>Pilotwings</strong></em> allowing a pixelated but technically brilliant take on skydiving. Then when the year is almost up, <em><strong>Super Smash Bros</strong></em> for N64 will join <em><strong>SMK</strong></em> and <strong><em>Pilotwings</em></strong> rounding off an awesome holiday of retro titles. Once again, <em><strong>Super Smash Bros</strong></em> has it&#8217;s successor on the Wii already but it&#8217;s nice to have the opportunity to experience the originator of the franchise. Many fans (like me) may still have their SNES and N64 copies of these games as a treasured possession but laziness is a powerful thing and soon we&#8217;ll be able to play them without having to get up and change the game cartridge or indeed console. Genius.</p>

<p>Join myself and Chris Karpyszyn as we discuss the legitimacy of the Wii’s popularity and what Nintendo has done well and done not so well to have crowned it’s console the king of this generation. The concept of innovation over graphics is the major characteristic of the Wii but did it also sacrifice gameplay as well? We discuss that and other Wii topics like the Virtual Console/WiiWare service and whether it has been a boon to classic gaming or a lame duck attempt at competing with the Xbox Live Marketplace and if Nintendo can stay ahead of their competitors ambitious plans to add motion control to their consoles.</p>
<p>This podcast was recorded a couple of weeks ago and due to other business that I had to attend to and the fact that it took me quite a while to edit this thing together (it was really late when we originally recorded this and it sounded like we should have gone to bed instead of recording), it is only being released now. It must be noted that while listening to us complain about the lack of major Nintendo first-party titles on the Wii, Excitebike World Rally and Pokemon Rumble had not been announced nor had the demo service which just went live this past Monday. </p>
<p>We’ll be recording our fourth Roundtable this Sunday (the third one is recorded but it will take me some time to edit it). We’ll be talking about the Xbox 360 and it’s notorious Red Ring of Death with the major question being: why hasn’t the Red Ring of Death killed the Xbox 360? <p>Hello there, fans of all things classic and LucasArts. This week LucasArts is proud to announce that yet another entry of the classic games has hits the Nintendo Virtual Console. With Super Star Wars&#8217; as a trilogy hitting recently and Zombies Ate My Neighbors just two weeks ago, we have learned how many fans there are who are waiting for the classics to be released. As of today we have release Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures for your classic playing.</p>
<p>Set across the original three films prior to Crystal Skull, IJGA is quite beloved by collectors. A personal favorite of mine thanks to the solid platforming and (at the time) mind-blowing graphics. Those who&#8217;ve played it remember it &#8211; the classic platforming and shooting of old with that iconic whip-across-gaps that could only be done if that perfect piece of wood was sticking out of the wall.</p>
<p>Many nights were spent trying to get through the game. I don&#8217;t remember if I ever did, but I doubt it. This one, like Zombies Ate My Neighbors, is another shining example of those incredibly difficult games you simply cannot put down. The Himalayan raft scene from Temple of Doom might be the most fond of my memories, but the biplane sticks in there. After all, The graphics were totally top of the line &#8211; just look!</p>

<p>Okay, maybe not now. But at the time it was amazing on a home console. Ahhh, memories. Nostalgia makes all those old videogames feel like they have the poly-count of The Force Unleashed.</p>

<p>Echt lekker racen doe je pas met <em>Mario Kart 64</em>. Daags na de aanschaf van mijn Nintendo 64 kwam ik verweesd achter het beeldscherm vandaan. Ik had mezelf kapot gespeeld met Mario en zijn vrienden, die maar bleven rijden in van die kleine racewagens. Mijn wereld was opgehouden te bestaan, de tijd stond stil, behalve op het klokje in beeld natuurlijk. Dat klokje confronteerde me namelijk steeds opnieuw met de harde werkelijkheid. En nog steeds is het aanlokkelijk om in een verloren tijdsmoment het magische apparaat uit de kast te trekken en de Mario Kart-cartridge erin te stoppen.</p>
<p></strong></p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-86" title="mario-cart-64" src="http://gamingmode.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/mario-cart-64.jpg?w=300" alt="mario-cart-64" width="300" height="225" />Mario Kart 64 was een vervolg op <em>Super Mario Kart</em> en bestond bijna geheel uit 3D-beelden. Een nauwkeurige blik op het scherm deed sprites herkennen: Mario en zijn vrienden waren in 2D afgebeeld om de enorm grote rekenkundige kracht die nodig is voor perfecte beelden, niet te hoeven aanboren. Echter, de vernietigende kracht van Mario Kart 64 zat &#8216;m absoluut niet in de graphics. Zelfs de latere opvolger <em>Mario Kart: Double Dash!!</em> &#8220;het eerste volledige 3D-spel in de Mario Kart reeks&#8221; had dit niet nodig om even verslavend te zijn. Althans, bij mij. Maar ja, de Mario franchise is nu eenmaal niet voor niets zo succesvol gebleken.</p>
<p>Mario Kart 64 is sexier dan menig ander spel en het is moeilijk de vinger op de precieze oorzaak te leggen. De pijnlijke plek, namelijk de graphics, was makkelijker aan te wijzen. Ik denk dat vooral de besturing van het spel een grote bijdrage aan het spelplezier heeft geleverd. Want wat voelden die banen lekker, wanneer ik daar full speed overheen crosste met Toad, Mario, Peach of Bowser. Wie wordt er nou niet vrolijk van de kleurrijke omgevingen en characters die het spel rijk is? Opvallend overigens dat de besturing zo&#8217;n goed gevoel gaf, terwijl die controllers van de N64 niet te hebben waren.</p>
<p>En tja, de gameplay doet natuurlijk ook het één en ander. De<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-87" title="MarioKart64_2" src="http://gamingmode.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/mariokart64_2.jpg?w=300" alt="MarioKart64_2" width="300" height="225" /> verschillende banen bijvoorbeeld, en de items die je kunt verkrijgen terwijl je de weg over zoeft. Heerlijk gewoon. Choco Mountain en Moo Moo Farm voeren mijn favorietenlijstje aan. Rainbow Road was natuurlijk niet om uit te staan en die frustratie alleen al was genoeg reden om deze duivelsrit iedere keer opnieuw te rijden. Vooral op deze baan moest je gewoon eerste worden. En wat te denken van de Balloon Battle, die ten grondslag lag aan urenlang multiplayer speelplezier. Keer op keer mijn gram willen halen wanneer vrienden en vriendinnen beter waren of ik gewoon mijn dag niet had.</p>
<p>De donkere dagen voor sinterklaas en kerstmis komen er weer aan. Lange winterdagen, waarbij het &#8217;s ochtends donker is wanneer ik de deur achter me dicht trek en het &#8217;s avonds niet lichter is wanneer ik weer thuis kom. De behoefte aan chocomel en speculaas neemt toe, maar die winteravonden moeten ook gevuld. Na vandaag weet ik weer hoe ik dat ga doen. Met een potje Karten. Overigens, een aanrader voor de jammerige N64-bezitlozen: Mario Kart 64 is al een tijdlang toegevoegd aan Nintendo&#8217;s Virtual Console lijst. Dus mocht je het spel tot op heden nog niet uitgeprobeerd hebben, dan raad ik je aan dat vooralsnog eens te doen. Het zal je verbazen, verleiden, vervoeren! Welcome to Mario Kart!</p>

It is still hard, causing Maggie and I to both to scream profanities at the screen.  It also is a lot of fun, and the levels vary enough to keep my attention.</p>

<p>Maggie and I are playing it on Virtual Console, and she is using the Classic Controller, so I think she has a slight advantage.  The placement of the buttons on the Wavebird does not really make this game easy, and after 10 minutes my fingers are sore from the wacky layout.  Still, the fun outweighs the pain, and I am very happy to be playing it again.</p>
<p>Craziest thing is, I&#8217;m playing on a 42 inch TV, and because of the SNES graphics, it still looks exactly the same.  I&#8217;m writing this in between playing levels, because on two player it alternates who is playing at what time.</p>
<p>This is still a solid game.</p>

<p>Se você não conhece um dos RPGs mais cultuados, amados e conhecidos do planeta&#8230; está tudo bem, já que ele saiu em 1985 e é possivel que você nem estivesse vivo. Mas ele foi relançado tantas e tantas vezes que é bem provável (se não impossível) que você nunca o tenha visto/jogado. É a quintessência dos J-Rpgs, com quatro personagens que você pode nomear e tem que subir de nível e uma história envolvendo cristais e o fim do mundo. Só um problema&#8230; o jogo é tão antigo e, para nossos padrões atuais, tão simplório, que se pegar essa versão do NES você provavelmente o detestará. Fica por sua conta e risco.</p>

<p>Side Scrolling bem legalzinho, com boa música, gráficos funcionais (eram bem melhores quando o game surgiu) e controle dez. É tão mais-ou-menos que é difícil achar algo para falar, então se tiver encarado diversos outros side scrolling pedreiras e tiver particularmente gostado de Dracula X (ou Castlevania 3), é a sua praia. Se não&#8230; nem passe perto.</p>

<p>Falando em jogos medíocres, eis um game que não é tão bom quanto o 3, tão clássico quanto o 1, nem particularmente impressionante quando comparado com outras coisas lançadas a época. Em suma, é um beat´up com bons gráficos, música ruim (tem até uma fase com uma espécie de&#8230; de&#8230; (vomita um pouquinho na boca) de polca) e controle legal. É legal&#8230; mas Street of Rage 3 é bem melhor.</p>

<p>Oh, Yeah! Jogão, que chegou no Brasil no começo da década de 90 totalmente em português pela mão da Tec Toy. Ótima história, extremamente envolvente, gráficos&#8230; hum&#8230; nostalgicos&#8230; tá bom, são ruins, mas a história é tão boa, que você provavelmente nem vai ligar. Música composta por briga de mosquitinhos (beep BEEEeep beep zum beep) e controle legal. Agarre se quiser um excelente RPG e não ligar para os gráficos.</p>

<p>Es gibt Computer- und Videospielfiguren, die zu festen Symbolen für den ganzen Bereich digitaler / elektronischer Unterhaltung geworden sind. Pac-Man, Mario oder auch Link etwa. Ein anderer, ebenfalls  besonders fest mit den Begriffen &#8216;Videospiel&#8217; und &#8216;Konsole&#8217; verbundener Held unzähliger Titel, ist der allseits bekannt blaue Igel von Sega: Sonic. Seit  1990 ist er das offizielle Maskottchen der japanischen Traditionsfirma für Unterhaltungselektronik. Damit verdrängte der neue gezackte Held das/ den etwas dümmlich wirkende/n Alexx Kidd.<img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-500" title="Quelle: http://img.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/66924/alex%20kidd_qjpreviewth.jpg" src="http://verdic.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/alex-kidd_qjpreviewth1.jpg?w=110" alt="Quelle: http://img.qj.net/uploads/articles_module/66924/alex%20kidd_qjpreviewth.jpg" width="110" height="150" /></p>
<p>Bis heute erscheinen Spiele, in denen Sonic auftaucht. Ich möchten in diesem RetroReview  meinen Blick allerdings auf die beiden ersten Teile richten, die meiner Auffassung nach auch immer noch die besten der ganzen Reihe sind. Warum das so ist? Tja, das ist passend zu den Titeln schnell erklärt&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Die Handlung:</strong></p>
<p>Um die Macht auf dem weit entfernten Planeten Mobius an sich zu reißen, versucht der fette, fiese Dr. Ivo Robotnik die Kontrolle der so geannten &#8220;Chaos Emeralds&#8221; zu erlangen. Dazu hat er eine rieseige Roboter-Armee erschaffen &#8211; aus unschuldigen Tierchen, die in den stählernen Konstruktionen gefangen sind. Sein Ziel ist letztlich, seine fliegende Festung &#8220;Death Egg&#8221; so mächtig zu machen, dass er spielend die Weltherrschaft an sich reißen kann. Der einzige, der in der Lage ist, Dr. Robtnik einhalt zu gebieten: Sonic &#8211; ein unglaublich schneller, blauer Igel, der mit seinen Zacken problemlos mit den Roboterhorden fertig wird. Am Ende des ersten Teils bezwingt der heroische Turbo-Igel dann auch den fiesen Fettsack in seiner dämlichen Festung.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-501" title="Quelle: http://ecetia.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/sonic2_1.jpg" src="http://verdic.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/sonic2_1.jpg?w=300" alt="Quelle: http://ecetia.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/sonic2_1.jpg" width="300" height="221" />Im zweiten Teil trifft Sonic Tails, einen &#8216;doppel-schwänzigen&#8221; Fuchs (nicht auf seine &#8216;privates&#8217; bezogen), der fast genauso schnell ist wie er und zudem mittels Propellerkraft fliegen kann. Das passt gut, den Robotnik versucht erneut den ganzen Planeten nach gewohntem Schema zu unterwerfen &#8211; nur dass seine Waffen cooler sind als noch im ersten Spiel.</p>
<p>Die Story ist, wie man merkt, nicht sonderlich tiefgründig &#8211; das ist aber auch völlig egal, sind die allseits bekannten Sonic-Spiele doch hervorragende Jump&#8217;n'Runs und keine Adventures bzw. Rollenspiele. In späteren Teilen treten noch weitere Charaktere hinzu, in Form von Knuckles, Amy Rose oder dem zweitem großen Widersacher Shadow the Hedgehog.</p>
<p><strong>Die Spielmechanik</strong></p>
<p>Die ersten beiden Sonic-Spiele können gewissermaßen als Epitome des rasanten 2D-Jump`n`Runs angesehen werden. Meist von links nach rechts, stürzt m<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-504" title="Quelle: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d3/MD_Sonic_the_Hedgehog.png" src="http://verdic.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/md_sonic_the_hedgehog.png?w=300" alt="Quelle: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d3/MD_Sonic_the_Hedgehog.png" width="300" height="210" />an in atemberaubender Geschwindigkeit durch die vielen Level. Dabei sammelt man &#8211; ähnlich den Münzen bei Super Mario- unzählige goldene Ringe ein. Für 100 Stück bekommt man ein Extraleben  (auch wie bei Nintendos Klempner). Sonic trifft dabei auf ganze Gegnerscharen, die fahren, fliegen und klettern können. Außerdem verschießen einige von ihnen kugelförmige Geschosse. Wird man von diesen getroffen oder berührt man einen der Roboterschergen, verliert man zunächst alle gesammelten Ringe; hat man keine Ringe, verliert der blaue Held sein Leben. Neben den Gegnerscharen &#8211; die wirklich vielseitig auffahren- sind die Level selbst oftmals eine Bedrohung für das Igelheil: viele fiese Fallen, versteckte Gruben, Stacheln, Flammenwerfer, Lavaseen, Abgründe, heißer Dampf uvm. Die einzelnen Level weisen dabei alle spieltechnische Eigenheiten auf und stellen immer neue Herausforderungen.</p>

In dieser Form zerstört ihr  auch die Roboter, aus denen dann die befreiten kleinen Tiere springen. Boni sind in &#8220;Monitoren&#8221; versteckt, die in den Leveln verteilt herumstehen. In diesen sind Ringe, Schutzblasen oder &#8220;Sternenstaub&#8221; versteckt. Letzterer macht Euch -ähnlich dem Superstern in den Mario-Spielen &#8211; für eine kurze Weile unsterblich. In beiden Teilen erwarten Euch weiter viele verschiedene kleine Gimmicks, wie z.B. ein &#8220;Kanonrohr-Transport-System&#8221; (im späteren <em>Donkey Kong Country</em> imitiert), riesige Flipper-Anlagen, in denen Sonic als Kugel durch die Gegend geschossen wird und diverse Bonusstages: Im ersten Teil schwebt Ihr dabei durch einen transzendentalen Raum, begrenzt durch Blockwände und gefüllt mit Ringen. Im zweiten Teil lauft Ihr in pseudo-3D durch tunnelartige Parcourse; dabei könnt Ihr euch im Zweispielermodus richtige Wettrennen um die Ringe liefern.</p>
<p>Am Ende eines jeden Abschnitts erwartet Euch dann Dr. Robotnik in einem abgefahrenen<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-506" title="Quelle: http://www.theghz.com/sonic/son2/son2_40.gif" src="http://verdic.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/son2_40.gif?w=300" alt="Quelle: http://www.theghz.com/sonic/son2/son2_40.gif" width="300" height="210" />Kampffahrzeug &#8211; immer unterschiedlich bewaffnet. Um ihn zu besiegen, muss jedes mal eine etwas andere Taktik angewandt werden.</p>
<p><strong>Das Design</strong></p>
<p>Beide Sonic-Titel sind sehr bunt und detaillreich in Szene gesetzt. Damals gehörten sie zu den grafisch besten Spielen ihrer Zeit. Sonic, seine Gegner sowie die Fahrzeuge von Robtnik sind sehr flüssig animiert und fügen sich nahtlos in die Comic-Optik der Umwelt ein. Die einzelnen Level sind abwechslungsreich gestaltet und unterscheiden sich im Stil visuell wie auditiv. Der Soundtrack ist für die damaligen Verhältnisse ebenfalls von sehr hoher Qualität und weist  - in Vergleich zu anderen Titeln &#8211; eine erstaunliche Vielfalt auf.</p>
<p><strong>Mein Fazit</strong></p>
<p>Auch wenn Sega wohl nie wieder seine einstige Größe wiedererlangen wird, mit Sonic hat das Unternehmen eine Ikone der Computer- und Videospielkultur erschaffen. Die beiden ersten Teile trugen damals auch wesentlich zum Erfolg der 16-Bit-Konsole Mega Drive / Genesis bei und sind bis heute Toptitel unter den 2D-Jump`n`Runs. Wie bereits erwähnt, erscheinen immer noch  Titel mit dem blauen Igel. Daher lässt sich diesbezüglich schon von einer Erfolgsstory sprechen. An die alten Spiele sind meinerseits positive Kindheitserinnerungen gebunden, viel auszusetzen habe ich eigentlich nicht &#8211; abgesehen von vereinzelten Bugs (Sonic bleibt an bestimmten Stellen stecken), der mangelnden Speicher- bzw. Passwortfunktion und dem teilweise hohen Schwierigkeitsgrad. Alles in allem ist das Spiel aber rund um zu empfehlen ( es sei denn man ist HD-Freak und verachtet die gute alte Zeit). <strong>Mein Urteil: Sehr gut! </strong></p>
<p><em>Sonic the Hedgehog erschien 1991 für Segas Mega Drive bzw. Genesis (US), ein Jahr später folgte der zweite Teil für die selbe Konsole. Die Spiele kosteten damals jeweils&#8230;keine Ahnung, vielleicht um die 100 Mark? Heute sind Teil 1 für Apples iphone (4,99 EUR) und Teil 2 für Nintendos Virtual Console (Wii) erhältlich ( ca. 800 Wii Points, etwa 8 EUR). Die Spielzeit liegt pro Teil &#8211; je nachdem wie gut man ist &#8211; bei 4 bis 8 Stunden (grobe Schätzung!)</em></p>
<p>P.S.:Fall sich jemand fragt, warum wir bisher immer so positiv urteilen: wir stehen noch am Anfang und spielen uns langsam durch unsere Sammlung. In Zukunft wird sicher auch mal ein Scheißspiel dabei sein, versprochen.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p><img class="alignleft" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ZNu4LcPkL._SL500_AA280_.jpg" alt="" width="280" height="280" />If you were like me, and didn&#8217;t get in on the Wii phenomenon early enough to get the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Channel" target="_blank">Opera-based Internet Channel</a> download for free, Nintendo would like to make it up to you.</p>
<p>Starting now, and running until the end of the year, you can visit the <a href="http://www.nintendo.com/wii/channels/wiishopchannel" target="_blank">Wii Shop Channel</a>, download a quick update, and click to download any one 500 point NES Virtual Console game.</p>
<p>The Internet Channel is a free download again (and was recently updated with slightly better Flash support&#8230; sorta) so download or update that if you haven&#8217;t already done so since September 1st of this year.</p>
<p>(PS:  I downloaded <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarTropics" target="_blank"><em>StarTropics</em></a> for free last night.  Never played it all the way through when I was a kid, although my sort-of-brother Chris and I logged several hours on his copy.)</p>

<p><strong>Bekanntermaßen gibt es auf der Virtual Console von Nintendos Wii genügend alte Retro-Klassiker.  Wer dann noch richtig nostalgisch werden will, der hat die Möglickeit sich für 19,99€ den Wii Classic Controller zu kaufen, der an das Gamepad des SNES erinnert. Dieses</strong> <strong>sei  aber nicht allzu komfortabel, wenn es nach einigen Spielern geht. Doch bald gibt es Abhilfe.</strong></p>
<p>Seit einiger Zeit dürfen sich die Japaner mit dem Classic Controller Pro begnügen, der insbesondere durch bessere Handhabung überzeugt. Nun kommt das gute Stück auch endlich nach Europa und dürfte alle Virtual Console Nutzer, die mit dem normalen Classic Controller unzufrieden sind, aufmuntern. Der Preis bleibt bei ca. 19,99€ und ab dem 20.November dieses Jahres dürfte euch damit das Herz aufgehen.</p>

<p>Einziges Makel: Das Pad wird bei uns leider ausschließlich in schwarz erhältlich sein, pünktlich zum Release der schwarzen Wii, so müssen Besitzer der weißen Konsole, zu einem Import greifen, wenn es denn trotzdem ein weißer Controller sein soll.</p>
