Every Singaporean, who is going to visit Vietnam, is supposed to get a visa in advance. Both of Visa

Every Singaporean, who is going to visit Vietnam, is supposed to get a visa in advance. Both of Visa code and Visa on arrival are accepted.

How to get a visa code? The Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore is responsible for this. You go to the Vietnamese Embassy located at 10 Leedon Park Street and carry out the steps required. You will get your visa code from the Embassy after several working days. The fee for visa code is about 80USD to 100USD including stamping fee.

How to get a visa on arrival? A Vietnamese visa service is in charge of it, with the cooperation with the Vietnam Immigration Department. Your work is to fill in the provided application form, then send it to the company visa email. After 2 days (for normal service, 1 day for urgency), you will receive a visa approval letter issued from the Vietnam Immigration Department. Just print it out and bring it to your arrival airport to get it stamped. The visa fee (including service and stamping fee) depends on the type of visa you apply (it can fluctuate from 50USD for 1 month single to 150USD for 6 month multiple, …). In general, it is a bit cheaper than visa code.

Khanh Hoa Province is grearing up the Nha Trang Sea Festival, which will run from June 6-12 with the theme Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) – Civilisation and Friendship.

A host of activities will mark the run up to the event, starting with a musical show on May 19 to commemorate the birthday of late President Ho Chi Minh.

During the rest of the month, other performances will be held to herald the fest, including a show by ethnic children in Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan provinces. An official campaign to clean up local beaches and an exhibition of metalwork will also be held.

A grand fireworks display will announce the opening of the festival with musical performances sponsored by VinaCapital.

The seven-day programme includes 70 different events in culture, art, sports, economics and science.

Folk culture will also get a special mention, with the Cau Ngu festival (fish worshipping ceremony) and Cham performances.

There will also be coracle racing, a human chess contest, an exhibition of calligraphy, art kite launching and a sand sculpture contest.

Organisers are also intending to break several national records, including the largest folk orchestra in Viet Nam, the biggest wifi cafe at the seaside, the longest piece of embroidery work and the largest pho (noodle soup) bowl in Viet Nam.

This year’s festival will feature a broad range of culture, sports and tourism activities, including street festivals, exhibitions of books, photos and calligraphy, French film screening, art performances and water sports competitions.

The fest has drawn art troupes from France, Ukraine, Japan and South Korea. The organising board will also invite beauty queens from the 29 countries with the most beautiful bays in the world to attend the festival.
Other highlights include a national conference on urban planning, a beach football tournament, an international book fair and a joint Viet Nam-South Korea concert.

The province has now completed all necessary preparations for the event, the fourth of its kind so far, said Le Xuan Than, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the organising board.
“The Nha Trang Sea Festival 2009 aims to attract more domestic and foreign tourists to the province,” he said.

Organisations and businesses both inside and outside Khanh Hoa have to date pledged to contribute almost VND10 billion (US$562,000) to support the festival.

The provincial trade and tourism department will give VND60 billion ($3.37 million).

Nha Trang is one of the most important tourist hubs of Viet Nam, thanks to its white beaches clear ocean water and year-roud mild temperatures.

The Sea Festival is held in Nha Trang city every two years. In 2007, around 250,000 tourists attended, according to the organising board.

Foreign visitors who are interested in the festivals can apply visa code or visa on arrival to Vietnam. Both types of visa are accepted.

You need a visa to enter Vietnam before you travel to the country. It’s easy to organise a Vietnam visa in Bangkok if you know where to go.

The first way is to go directly to the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok. Once inside, fill in one of the application forms and then submit it at the window along with the appropriate fee. It’s around 1000 Baht ($30 US) for a one entry visa – make sure you request a multiple entry visa if you intend to exit and re-enter Vietnam during your travels, otherwise you’ll have to apply for a second visa all over again. You need to submit the visa application between 8.30am to 11.30 am and 1.30pm to 4.30pm. You can collect it 3 days later or pay a little more and get express service to collect it the next day, but make sure you drop it early in the morning if you want to be sure of this. You can find more info on the quite helpful

The second way is to order visa online. It will take you about 2 days to receive the approval letter from the Vietnam Immigration Department via e-mail after filling in the application form. All you have to do is to print it out and bring it to your Vietnam arrival airport to get stampted. This way is rather popular now because of its convenience and cheap price.

You can use either of these methods to ontain a visa to Vietnam. It is so easy.

Only citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without an Entry Visa (valid for visit within 3

Only citizens of certain countries can visit Vietnam without an Entry Visa (valid for visit within 30 days), specifically as follows:

- Not more than 30 days: for citizens of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Laos.
- Not more than 15 days: for citizens of Japan, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland.
- French citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements when visiting Vietnam and are allowed to stay for up 3 months at one time or on several visits within six months since their first immigration dates.
- Citizens of Chile holding valid diplomatic or official passports are exempt from needing entry, exit and transit visas in Vietnam’s territory and are allowed to stay for up 60 days on each visit.

Citizens from all other countries are required to get an Entry Visa before departure or a pre-approved Entry Visa (issued on arrival at Vietnam’s International Airports) supplied before arrival in Vietnam.

The whole Visa-to-Vietnam Application Process should be recommended to you as follows;

It is common that you obtain your Entry Visa by having a valid passport stamped prior to your departure by applying to the Vietnam Embassy and/or Consulate (in case there’s a Consulate instead of Embassy) in your country. However, if your particular city does not have a Vietnamese Embassy, and you wish to avoid procedural delays (anywhere from 4 to 10 days) which sometimes happen with visa approvals at embassies outside Vietnam, Vietnam-visa.com can make this requirement a fairly easy exercise. We provide a specialized form which you may copy and paste into a word document, fill out the required information and return to us by fax or email. We will then arrange to obtain the visa approval code service for you. Yet, you still subsequently have to get the official Vietnamese Stamp of Approval on your passport at Vietnamese Embassy in your area by yourself. Following such an approval, we will send you the notification (by fax or email) and fax the approval to your desired Embassy or Consulate. You need to bring that approval together with your passport to the Embassy or Consulate to get the Visa Stamp on your passport on the same day. You are now ready to go to Vietnam!

In case there is no Vietnam embassy or Consulate in your country, or you would like to make Vietnam part of a multi-destination trip, we recommend Visa on Arrival as your best option.

What is a ‘Visa on Arrival ?: this is probably the easiest way to obtain your visa without having to chase down embassies, consulates and the like prior to your trip. It is a valid alternative when applying for a tourist visa. The Entry Visa will be stamped on your passport as you pass through our Immigration Checkpoint. Though valid for thirty days, it can be extended once you enter Viet Nam. With this type of visa, you only can enter the country by air

How to get a Visa on Arrival: The service also facilitates customers at most in this case. We obtain what is called an ‘Approval Letter’ for you from the Viet Nam Immigration Department in Hanoi. Then we will send you a copy by fax or email. Copies of the same document will be forwarded on your behalf to Vietnam Immigration Checkpoints at International Airports only. Thus when you arrive in Viet Nam, the Immigration officers will have those documents on hand and will be able to issue your Entry Visa expediently.

Source: http://www.visatovn.com: The Vietnam-Cambodia visa exemption for ordinary passport holders which comes into effect today will create more opportunity for tourism, local travel agents say.

The director of Lua Viet Company Nguyen Van My said the pact will encourage more Vietnamese to travel to Cambodia.

“The number of tourists from Vietnam to Cambodia will rise about 30 percent as agencies and travelers can now save time and money for visa application at the border gates,” My said.

Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai from Fiditourist Co. said the company is planning to increase tours to Cambodia from two to three or four per week in 2009.

“If the plan is realized, the number of our customers traveling to Cambodia will double,” Mai said.

Sapaco Tourist also announced plans to increase bus tours between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh from 10 to 14 trips a day, while trips from HCMC to Siem Reap would run daily.

Regarding Cambodian visitors, My said the number would only rise slightly as the neighboring government’s procedures make it difficult for their citizens to obtain ordinary passports.

Many travel agencies in HCMC had previously operated four-day tours by bus to Cambodia at an average price of US$210-220, including visa application fees, while Vietnamese citizens had to spend $20 to apply for a visa to enter Cambodia prior to the exemption pact.

According to the agreement signed in Hanoi on November 4 by Vietnamese Prime Minster Nguyen Tan Dung and Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen, citizens of both countries with ordinary passports valid for at least six months can stay in the visited destination for up to 14 days without a visa.

However, cholera is a serious risk in this country and precautions are essential. Up-to-date advice should be sought before deciding whether these precautions should include vaccination, as medical opinion is divided over its effectiveness. For more information, see the Health appendix.

3: Vaccination against typhoid is advised.

4: Malaria risk exists throughout the year everywhere except urban areas, the Red River delta and the coastal plains north of Nha Trang. The risk is highest in the southern provinces of Bac Lieu and Ca Mau, and highland areas. The malignant falciparum form is reported to be highly resistant to chloroquine and sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine.

Do I need to get a tourist visa for Vietnam?
Most visitors to Vietnam require a visa to enter the country. Since the 1st of May 2005, nationals from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland travelling to Vietnam and staying for 15 days or less no longer need to apply for entry visas, provided that their passports are valid for at least three months and they can show their return ticket. Those who wish to stay longer than 15 days will need to apply for a visa. Tourists holding Thai, Indonesian, Lao, Malaysian and Singaporean passports do not need a visa for a visit up to 30 days. Philippines passport holders do not need a visa for a visit up to 21 days. Japanese and South Korean passport holders do not need a visa for a visit up to 15 days.

NOTE:
• A tourist visa is a single entry visa which means that if you exit Vietnam, you will
require a new tourist visa to enter Vietnam again.
• All travellers must have a passport valid to 6 months after their planned exit from
Vietnam.
• The above information may change without prior notice. It is your responsibility
to check whether or not you are subject to a tourist visa for Vietnam.
• For visa information, click here to contact your nearest Vietnamese embassy or
consulate.

• How long is a tourist visa to Vietnam valid?
A one-month tourist visa is usually sufficient for most visitors though it is possible to
arrange 3-month and 6-month multiple entry visas.
•
How do I apply for a Vietnamese visa?
There are 2 ways to obtain a visa:
If you arrive to Vietnam by land, it is NOT possible to get a visa on arrival. You must
obtain the visa beforehand, as outlined in Case 1. (The one exception is the Moc Bai land
crossing, at the Cambodian border –see Case 2)

Case1: Collect your visa before arrival from your closest Vietnamese embassy or
consulate. To apply for a visa, the requirements are as follows:

• Entry permit form (which can vary from one Vietnamese embassies or consulate
abroad to another) – There are two categories of this form: for foreigners and for
Vietnamese overseas.
• Two photos (4cmx6cm or 3cmx4cm)
• Original passport
• Visa fee.

You should send your application and photos to a Vietnamese embassy or consulate
abroad, which is most convenient to you. On your requirement, the reply will be returned
by post (you must provide stamped envelopes with your name and address).

Case2: Collect your visa on arrival at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Danang International
Airports.

Case 1: Visa before arrival
Bring the “approval letter”, your passport and two recent passport-sized photos to the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. The person collecting the visa must also complete two application forms at the embassy or consulate. A visa stamping fee is charged by the Vietnamese embassy or consulate. Fees vary from one country to another.

Case 2: Visa upon arrival
Please remember to take your passport, 2 recent passport-sized photos and the “visa picking up upon arrival approval letter” with you to check in for your flight to Vietnam.

NOTE: if you do not have this letter at the time of check-in, the airline staff will not allow you to board the aircraft. Before departure, prepare some bank notes in USD to clear visa stamping fees on arrival. On arrival at Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or Danang International Airports, head to the Landing Visa Counter. Present your “visa picking up upon arrival approval letter”, passport and 2 pictures to the officer who will charge you a Visa stamping fee. Then, head for the Immigration desks.

GENERAL NOTES:

• Always allow plenty of time for your visa arrangements to ensure a good start to
your trip.
• What are the immigration procedures on entering Vietnam? On entering Vietnam, all visitors must complete an entry/exit form including a customs
declaration (white/yellow colour). It is important that the bottom copy (yellow sheet) of this form is kept safe with your passport while in Vietnam and is presented to the customs and immigration officials on departure.
