During the prayer time before youth service, God directed me to 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 and downloaded an entire sermon into my head. But its contents are gonna be really tough to deliver so I think it’ll remain brewing in my head before it gets served.

VY and I had a good conversation over lunch today. I think having similar mentalities and visions towards ministry do help people to bond quickly. I enjoyed hearing him share and I also enjoyed sharing with him. I do hope there’s more to come from this fusion of hearts.

I crashed YX’s cell today (much to her reluctance and her sad face x 10) and I’d like to think it turned out better than I thought. I also joined the entire cell for dinner at Lot 1 and hung out at the top floor of the compound after we ate. It was there that I asked them to dream about the kind of youth ministry that they wanted to see. Here’s how a group of 14-18-year-olds responded:

“More growth.”

“More enthusiastic.”

“Everyone is discipled.”

“Hang out more, bond more.”

“Every youth knowing one another like one big family.”

Well, these are all great things to have. And I believe that if we all play our part, these dreams would become reality. The above-mentioned does resonate with what’s in my heart. I believe that for R-AGE to head to another level, we need to come to realise that this is OUR ministry and that we have to take ownership of it.

One thing that I really enjoyed about the SOAR youths was that they knew that they would exit the ministry (and Shanghai) once they turn 18 (and leave the country for college). And so a good number of them endeavour to leave behind a legacy. They knew that they were the ones who had to make it work. They knew that if they didn’t own the ministry, no one else would. I pray that this attitude would also be birthed R-AGE. I know a number of youths who already feel that way and I believe that I am strategically positioned to enable and empower more young people to catch this vision. Imagine its life-changing, Bukit Batok-shaking, ministry-revolutionising consequences!

I believe with all my heart that there is nothing more satisfying than witnessing youths leading youths. And what a great privilege it would be for me to help play a part in making vision that come true. I believe that R-AGE is on the threshold of a new dawn. Let’s put our hands into the plough. Everyone has a part to play. The youth ministry in G2 is about to explode. I believe that by faith and I believe that with all my heart. May that be in line with God’s will.

I added this portable camera to my wired Lorex system. For those that complain about the picture quality, it is because of the wireless interference. It didn’t take me long to reposition the receiver to get a better signal (I used a longer video cable to mount the receiver higher). The quality matches it’s price. It is used to monitor my teenage kid’s parties. It’s not good at detail, so I don’t recommend it for front door or reading license plates. The night vision is also adequate for the price. It has enough IR for a 20×20 room. Remember, more IR’s require more power which produces more heat.

If you use the 2 camera system, it will switch between the two. It doesn’t simultaneously view both cameras. I forget what frequency it uses, but the receiver is around 5 ft from my linksys wireless G router. I also have a wireless phone system (10 handsets) using dect 6 which doesn’t cause any interference. When I mounted the receiver too low (4 ft) I notice video interference whenever someone walked by the receiver. Mounting it closer to the ceiling cleared up all interference.

A video reveiw would really stink on this if I used the video this junk camera shows me at a distance of about thirty feet.
I waited too long to get a refund on this camera while I was waiting to find some decent software to use with it.

bought to use with my laptop via usb. box stated product will provide audio and video. after installing “amcap” icon appeas on desktop. click on the shortcut and video appears but no audio. go to the lorex site for troubleshooting tips only to find….well nothing. Searched via google for additional but not much out there. after extensive searching i find a few references that indicate getting the audio to work will be a chore.
Tried on xp and vista laptops, same issues.
When i purchase something I don’t want or need to spend hours researching how to make the product do what it says it will do.

Det kan liknas vid en vision, ett antal målbilder där vi vill vara framöver.

One suggested activity was to answer 8 questions to determine key concepts that define your message.  The questions are from Meryl Runion’s Brand Aid:  http://www.speakstrong.com/articles/speak-strong/brand-aid.html

Answering these 8 questions made me dig deep into myself, what I value and what value I can provide.   I found it to be a worthwhile exercise that I will probably repeat from time to time as I refine my message.  If you want to focus in with laser-like power on your message, I highly recommend thoughtful consideration of the 8 questions!

Below are my answers to the questions (more guidance on each question is given at the above website):

1) What is your vision of a perfect world?
Imagine a world where…Where people feel accepted, valued and understood and everyone is approachable and open to making small talk that leads to closer relationships and more significant results (more commitment, more collaboration, more sales,  and less hate, less prejudice, etc.). 

2) What is the contrasting current reality?
 Instead of this perfect world, we have a world where…people avoid, ignore, irritate and offend others, often unintentionally.

3) What obstacles prevent the world from being like your perfect world?
The obstacles to my perfect world are…self-centeredness, being too busy, lack of confidence/self-esteem (fear of looking foolish or stupid), old habits, lack of knowledge.

 4) What do people need to know to create your perfect world?: To create this world, people need to know…the importance of small talk, how to be approachable, how to initiate and sustain small talk and move it into deeper communication.  People need to know how to communicate to resolve their differences in a mutually beneficial manner.

 5) What principles do people need to believe in order to create your perfect world?
My perfect world is based on the beliefs…that all human beings are unique and have and give value.   That face-to-face interactions are important and can not be completely replaced by technology-enabled communication.

 6) What do people need to do to create your perfect world?
The steps to create the perfect world are…1.  Adjust Attitude.  Sincerely seek to understand as much as to be understood.   2. Adjust Body Language.  3.  Listen fully and reflectively.  4.  Empathize  5.  Accept  6.  Bridge the gap by finding commonalities 7.  Learn and practice the dance of conversation.

7) What do people need to stop doing to create your perfect world?
To create this perfect world, people need to refrain from…Judging others and themselves!  People need to refrain from body language, tone of voice and words that convey negativity—disdain, disinterest, dishonesty, hostility, etc.

 8) What about your answers are unique to you?
I am the only one who…talks about small talk not only as a means to an end  but also, and perhaps the biggest “result” of all, as a way to encourage a world where people feel accepted and free to connect without judgment.

Sometimes the best shots are unplanned. A few weeks ago, Liz and I drove through St. Paul after going to see a music performance of Strange Attractors. It was almost midnight, rainy and foggy. We parked at different spots downtown and took a series of photographs. She stepped out into the rain; I stayed behind and shot from the car. I feel lucky my partner is one who loves the night (and art) as much as I do. It provides opportunities for creative sharing that might not otherwise take place. And we can spend downtime together in our art studio in Northeast Minneapolis.

The best part of this rainy shot of Mickey’s Diner through the windshield is the BlackBerry sitting on the dash. When the photo is viewed in its largest size, you can clearly see the raindrop reflections on the screen. They make it look like the rain fell through the glass. This time the photograph was not taken with the camera phone; she’s one of the stars.

O motor é híbrido – diesel e eletricidade – com 3 cilindros, 1,5 litros e 163 cv de potência. Ainda segundo dados da BMW, ele pode fazer de 0 – 100 km/h em 4,8 segundos sendo seu limite os 250 km/h. O consumo é de 3,76 litros por cada 100 Km rodados.

E não podíamos deixar de falar da sua emissão de CO_2, pois este carro conceito está ai para diminuir isto.

In my fifty-something years of gift-giving, I recall many a holiday season or special occasion, traipsing about malls or specialty shops looking for that special gift that was just right. Often, my mind’s eye even had a vision of what I was looking for. Eventually, I typically tired of the quest and settled for something that was “available”. In this article, I offer an alternative to “settle for what they have” and encourage you to seek out a craft professional to create your vision.

My most recent experience was my wife’s last birthday. She loves doves. You know; the birds. I had in mind to buy her a crystal dove she could admire on her desk at home. I visited all the department stores and special shops I could find throughout most of the day. I found several crystal figures; none of which were bird-like, and finally gave in to a crystal butterfly.

The next time I know what I want; I’ll follow my own advice and look for an artisan to craft my vision. Since everyone’s “gift vision” is different, it might not always be easy to find a professional to craft your gift locally. Well, that’s why Al Gore invented the internet. Oops, lost half of you? Seriously, there are likely to be at least dozens of craft professionals for any gift type you are considering, on the internet.

Let me give you one example where you can find a large variety of artisans; that is, custom crafted pens. Sure, you can go to your local Hallmark store and probably find a nice variety. But, if you really want to make an impression, explore some of the many internet sites by typing in something like “wood pens”, “custom pens”, or “exotic pens” into your favorite search engine.

Sites vary in terms of models and material options offered. The best of them will offer various models within the major categories of ball point pens, roller ball pens, fountain pens, and even pencils. Look at the detail page of offerings that appeal to you and be sure the model is offered with a variety of body material options. Some may offer various wood species or synthetic materials. By combining the category, model, and material selection, you should be able to find a selection that matches your “gift vision”.

The custom crafted pen is but one example of gift ideas that can be crafted to order. If you need some inspiration, type in “gift” or “gifts” into your search engine to find sites that will provide categories of gift ideas. You will find a variety of categories such as gender, occasion, age, etc. Once you settle on an item type, imagine what you would like your gift to be like. Would you change the color, or maybe the material it is made from? What would make it just perfect for the recipient you have in mind?

Now that you have developed your “gift vision”, type in the key words that will lead you to your custom crafter. If your vision is a crystal dove, like my introductory example, the words “custom crafted crystal dove” should do the trick.

As you explore the various sites, you can tell a lot by the presentation of the site itself. Is the site visually appealing? Is it easy to navigate? Does it offer security endorsements and a secure server for payments? Positive answers to these questions are likely to reflect well on the character and attention to detail the artisan provides in their product. Just remember. There’s more to consider than just whether a nice photo is displayed and the options you want are available.

Make you next gift-giving experience truly personal and rewarding by having your vision crafted. In review, the simple steps are:

(1) Imagine your gift in your mind’s eye

(2) Refine the details

(3) Search the internet for potential artisans

(4) and critically review the web sites and the product you are searching for. Once you have tried this approach to finding a gift, I think you might adopt it as a favorite.

In one chapter, Nephi immediately introduces us to the powerful, recurrent themes that will be unfolded in the Book of Mormon. In a few verses, Nephi’s father, Lehi has a vision, teaches and is persecuted by unbelievers. Lehi, a faithful man, receives heavenly input with joy no matter what the content. Nephi also reveals a little bit of his character as a man of faith with little or no ego to get in the way: “But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.” The rest of the family is introduced in the heading and the general flow of things is described there, but it takes reading to start getting into the heads of the personalities to understand why they act as they do. After reading this stuff for awhile, one begins to discern similar motives in friends, acquaintances and public figures, at least when your head is programmed for simplicity and taking things literally like mine is these days.

It took me a long time to understand what Nephi means by “deliverance.” You hear that word a lot, along with salvation, in more denominations than one. As a youngster, I assumed that I never really sinned, therefore, what was there to be delivered from? It has taken a long time to begin to understand my own thinking – what is in there, what is not, what is useful, what is not, what is flawed and what is accurate. As I grow older, the scriptures have much deeper meaning for me as I can see myself in the persons – doubting (Thomas), rebellious (Jonah), driven and misguided (Judas). The need for repentance is becoming more clear as I see the results of my words and actions on others, as well as the outcome. Applying the practices (it does take practice) gives some opportunity to alter myself fundamentally. In so doing, I see the gap between myself and perfection (a subject to be taken up later) and the need for the Atonement becomes more clear.

Some of the people in the scriptures go from clueless to enlightened. Some remain stubbornly in sin. I am extremely gratified to begin to appreciate the difference.

I’m beginning the journey of discovering my own intuition.
So, tonight I am sitting in my large open framed pyramid doing some quiet time and meditation. My cats often join me during this time. Scootie, the female of the 2 cats, is actively involved in this process.
While I was giving her some healing energy with my hands, I saw the usual dark space… seems like outer space… and then the serpents… serpents of fire… they were doing the dance of the double helix in front of me.. all ablaze. Dunno what it means yet, but it was very cool
