I want to share with you guys
I recently brought Dell D630, which comes with Windows Vista – Business edition
I’ve Windows vista Enterprise license, and would like to upgrade this to Enterprise
There are no way the system will allow the upgrade..it always comes to the blue screen
Even if you try on the safe mode, it won’t go

the solution which works with me is that
when it boots, Press F2, this will take you to the BIOS settings, there you press ALT+F
This will prompt you for SATA changes..press save changes and press ESC and then say YES.

This works fine and now i’m using Vista Enterprise, without any issue (cross the finger)
Anyone who experience this issue, can try out

For those of you PC users who have not heard about the upcoming release of Windows 7, here’s a

For those of you PC users who have not heard about the upcoming release of Windows 7, here’s a sneak peak. I recently downloaded the public beta and installed it on the fastest computer I have to see how it would hold up, and to gage how far along the compatibility has gotten on the beta build. I upgraded from Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and although it was a smooth transition between the two, the upgrade actually took close to 3 hours. That’s way too long in my opinion. I can install Vista x64 fromscratch in less than an hour, and I think that’s too long. Otherwise, I was impressed… except for a few minor flaws that prompted me to revert back to Vista (I’ll get to that in a minute).

I was impressed with the Win7 driver database, although it is essentially just a slightly updated version from Vista SP1. My computer was loaded with high-end software, including the complete Adobe CS4 master collection, and I was nearly certain that migrating this software to a new OS would bring trouble- but it worked flawlessly. In fact, Photoshop 64-bit, which gives me issues on Vista, worked like a charm on Win7.

I also migrated a few games. Call of Duty 4, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. I’m not much of a gamer, and I rarely play them, I do however use them to test the power and speed of different systems and benchmark video processors. COD4 worked great on Win7, but NFSMW didn’t survive the migration, even when I changed the backwards compatibility settings in windows to pretend the game was running on Vista, it failed to open. In fact it upset my computer enough to lock itself up. No big deal, I was just seeing if they worked. As long as my Adobe stuff works I really don’t care.

The new OS ran very smooth, with less hiccups than I’m used to in Vista. As for new features- there really isn’t anything too significant. They reconfigured the desktop gadgets app, which I don’t really use anyway but I will say it was a dramatic improvement over Vista. They also gave the Taskbar a small make-over, which took a little getting used to, but after a few days I really was liking it. Microsoft also threw in a slew of new themes and personalization options, which score high on the neat factor, but in practice don’t too much for me.

I used Win7 for about a week before wiping it clean and reinstalling Vista. The only reason I did this was because there were a few small hardware conflicts: my webcam was not working at all, and my DVD/RW was acting funny on occasion. I don’t use the webcam that much, but it just annoyed me that it wouldn’t work. THe DVD/RW issue was the big one- it was keeping me from installing new software without a major fight, and I just didn’t have time to deal with it anymore.

There are quite a bit more features than I’ve mentioned in this article, and I really didn’t give it a chance to explore any more of them, so you may want to read up on them by checking out the link below.

The test computer I used was an AMD QuadCore 3.0Ghz CPU, with 4GB of DDR2 RAM and a GeForce 9500GT graphics card.

If you’re interested in testing the OS yourself, or would like some more info, please refer to the link below:

Alright I’m going to geek out for a second (no not coke you asshole). So I just finished reading an article on Engadget about the upcoming Windows OS, Windows 7. Someone has leaked the 6 versions of the OS that will go public soon. They are as follows:

Windows 7 Starter (limited to three apps concurrently)

Windows 7 Home Basic (for emerging markets)

Windows 7 Home Premium (adds Aero, Touch, Media Center)

Windows 7 Professional (Remote Desktop host, Mobility Center, Presentation mode)

Windows 7 Enterprise (volume license only, boot from virtual drive, BitLocker)

Windows 7 Ultimate (limited availability, includes everything)

Fucking awesome! Microsoft never listens to the public. We want something simple, like only 2 OS choices such as Windows 7 Home and Windows 7 Pro. That would have made it alot easier. But nooooo, fucking asshole Microsoft wants to make things more complicated than a Mark Z. Danielewski book (don’t get it? wikipedia it fool). But you know what? I honestly don’t give a fuck, because I’ll never buy another Windows based computer again. I’ve switched to what some call the “dark side” (Apple) and I like it over here. It’s cool and breezy and I have more freedom than Willy. So yeah, if you’re one of those people who are bitching about Windows Vista, it looks like you’ve got a real treat coming!

I hope some software venders, especially anti-virus venders will have them before Vista is launched in January 2007. Maybe it will be best to wait a while before purchasing Vista.
