This is my first time hearing about Euromaxx, so I’m learning something new as I listen to “People are People” from Depeche Mode.

This 80’s music brings back memories of my clubbing days.

We all used to go to Rumors Night Club on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

It’s a great place to go on a Thursday Night for Retro Music.

I haven’t been there in years, I should go back sometime, have a drink and dance the night away!

The First-rate Things

*This version of “Hellsing” has splendid imagery and graphics. It includes a lot of computer-generated-imagery, but none of it looks too hoaky or out-of-place. It is definately high quality animation.

*Excellent amount of bloody action. It is so lickety-split and wrathful that it puts the customary “Hellsing” expose to shame. Also contains more comedy than before.

*Storyline is substantial. It is very very cessation to the recent manga.

*Characters are radiant. Alucard is as psychotic as ever. Integra Hellsing is objective as wintry and vengeful as before, but not as mean. Saris Victoria is not as stiff, and is actually more clumsy and goofy; I consider she is more fun to witness in this version. All other characters are enchanting, tantalizing, and ample to search for.

*Some safe lines throughout.

*Funky music (although I mediate the music in the extinct “Hellsing” explain was better) .

The Terrible Things

*Not for the squeamish; contains lots of bloody violence, swearing, and suggestive material (rated TV-MA) .

*A lot of stuff is packed into a single hour. As like a flash and condensed as everything is, it may be seen as overly compressed with not enough exposition.

The Other Things

*If you recall the single-disc version, you collect runt or no special features. The two-disc steelbook edition (although more expensive) includes a little wealth of interviews and textless credit scenes.

I concept a vampire action saga couldn’t salvage any better than “Hellsing”…until “Hellsing Ultimate” came out and blew it true out of the water. The “Ultimate” series has better animation quality, more action, livlier characters, more comedy, and above all, is grand closer to the source material. It zips by heavenly speedy, but is wildly bright and never insensible. Highly reccomended to anybody who enjoys anime or anything titillating vampires.

Has the most creative and ingenious application of installation as an art form that I have heard yet.

Build a shack so that people can experience what it is like to live in a developing country, with AIDS or TB or some other affliction.

Provide a documentary audio exhibit, to explore stigma.  [Face it!]  Because, how else can you judge someone from a totally neutral point of view?

Also, the [Face it!] piece on anorexia is really good.

I know this is America and in America no one watches soccer.  But, I happen to love soccer and not care what anyone else thinks (among other things).

Lilian Thuram, retired soccer player, one of the most respected defenders certainly in French national team history, gave a talk to a room of 60-70 individuals at the Nasher Museum of Art today.

Basically, racism and soccer, soccer, and more about racism.  Lilian spoke in French and gave a lot of his perspective of race and how it applies in French culture and soccer.  Before and after France won the world cup, perceptions changed in the country regarding the image of blacks and Muslims.  You may be familiar with the slogan blanc-beur -noir referring to the “diversity” of the French national team.  But as Thuram stated jokingly today, “I do not believe in ‘diversity.’”

One last anecdote, Lilian Thuram actually declined to take a position in the French government as Minister of Diversity under M. Nicolas Sarkozy.  From Thuram’s mouth, Thuram feels that he is lucky to have had an exchange with M. Sarkozy which elucidated the president’s true commitment to fighting racism (that it was insincere) – when discussing the riots in the banlieue, Sarkozy stated, “the problem is the Blacks and the Arabs.”  Thuram replied, “No, The problem is delinquents.”  [not two races of people who by definition are French!].

I can only say I admire Thuram for 1) being a super talented athlete and 2) being such a passionate, intelligent individual.  The humbleness with which he speaks is flattering.  And, what can I say, he is making great use of his retirement years.

2PM has been under not only harsh spotlight but many more than usual. Everyone has been waiting for their comeback since it was delayed and Hottest fans can’t get enough of the new tracks.

One of the rare groups that will put out a full length album, the group retrieved some old tracks with a few remixes to add to make this full album.Their comeback to the music stage is scheduled for the 15th and you can be sure this blogger’s going to be up with you to check it out!

Gimme The Light

A pretty, relaxing song that has Khun actually starting out first. A song that is definitely outcast-ed by the others. This track has electro pop in it but it’s not pronounced. An ordinary song at most, the track title “Gimme The Light” reminds me too much of Sean Paul.

Heartbeat

The opening makes me a bit misty-eyed because the leadja would’ve probably started off the song with “Can You Feel My Heartbeat?!” Lots of breathing mixed with lyrical content, this opening track sets you for the rest of the album.

Crazy For you

Actually my favorite song, the pop song is fused somehow that it sounds like a remix non stop. The chaotic beat fused with their calm lyrics work well the song. Although I’m not a fan of someone screaming in the back (*cough* Lil John) The rap part remixes into a movie beat like something used for a really dramatic scene and then comes back to the original.

All Night Long

One of the few ballad Songs on the album, it’s not particularly hitting my favorite section. The song features a seriously old school beat that reminds me of the early 90’s pop.

Back 2 U

A slow-ed down pop song with lots of synthesizers, it is a very simple beat reminds me of Lil Wayne’s Ms Officer. JYP has done a lot of American songs so it doesn’t surprise me when lyrics like “Ladies you feel me, sing a song like this.” get put in.
