Igår läste jag Sannas blogg i vanlig ordning och där hade hon länkat till nedladdning av Volbeats nyaste singel “A Warrior’s Call”. Redan vid första lyssningen var jag SÅLD!!! Det låter så mycket Volbeat och det är SÅ BRA!!! Vill du också ha låten, finns den att hämta hem gratis HÄR. Just nu är danskarna på turné och supportrar Metallica i Us and A och jag läser deras blogg på hemsidan varje dag. Dels av nyfikenhet på vad dom gör tillsammans med mina gamla hjältar och dels i hopp om att snart få se ett nytt och fräscht inbokat datum för Sverigegig! Snälla snälla snälla ge mig en sommarkonsert igen!!!

Danish metal outfit Volbeat offers all you freaks “A Warrior’s Call,” a brand new and fresh anthemic fight song. Without sounding too contrived (remember Megadeth’s “Crush ‘Em”), Volbeat has created a tolerable and memorable arena track suitable for any competitive event. After all, the track was written and recorded specifically for boxer Mikkel Kessler’s recent fight. The band employs their signature rockabilly and swing-heavy beats, which draws some comparison to Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People,” only Volbeat is equipped with significantly more talent. The only possible addition the song could use, is a brief guitar solo at about 2:15. Here is that Danish band from Denmark that opened for Metallica in Albany. When I heard that band name, I’m like, they’re probably some shitty death metal band. I was wrong. These guys are actually very very good. I was impressed with their set at the Times Union Center too. Thanks to Metallica for making me a fan of Volbeat. I’m going to start buying Volbeat’s albums from Itunes now.

The four dudes of Thai Rockband Retrospect are breaking down the borders for the first time since their start. They’re on the bill of the next Wacken Open Air in Germany. Nothing special? Well, consider the fact it’s their first trip to the continent, the festival attracts about 70.000 guests and it has been sold out ever since november last year. Are they up for succes? A quick/small recap of their career so far, so even the people who don’t know them can easily get to know them.

Retrospect is a band residing in Bangkok, Thailand. Ever since their start in 2000, the boys – or guys – from Retrospect have been able to astonish people with their own Retrorian style. (Retrorian is also the name of their fanclub and the song Yes Sir! is kind of their fanclub chant :p) Their first EP called For Your Ears Only got released through ScreamLab Records in the summer of 2003. It immediately gave attention to the young band and an English Demo called For Your Ears Anytime was a fact. Not that much later they got signed by Genie Records, a GMM Grammy subsidiary and one of the leading Thai record Labels, and were able to put out their first full-length Unleashed in 2007. Their first DVD: The First Concert, showed the boys in their natural habitat and showed a lot of their talent by letting them do duets and featurings with other Genie stars as Da Endorphine and Tao from Sweet Mullet

More recently, in July 2008, came the follow up to their debut: Rise and in December of the same year they released their second DVD/VCD of the new tour called Rise Now! They easily end up in the Thai charts with their music-videos and singles and often stand out in-between the more Pop-orientated Thai culture. Retrospect took Thailand by storm and will not rest before the rest of the world has heard of them. Like I said before, they’re booked for the giant Rock-festival Wacken Open Air in Germany and so their popularity outside Thailand can only start to increase. (They’re playing on the 31st of July, second day of Wacken between Tristania and Mago de Oz on the Party Stage)

Thailand is multicultural. Pop, Rock and Rap easiy go together and are incorporated in the same song. Retrospect tries grabbing the best things out of every genre and put them together at their live shows. Either classical VieTrio, beatboxing Chin Chinawuth or pop rocking Da Endorphine are easily mixed into Retrospect’s harder music.In their latest DVD they even featured one of their youngest fans: Poom, screaming along with Singer Nap’s screams. That said, Nap’s screams are sure to give everyone goosebumps and the vocal parts are easy to sing along to. Now all we have to do left is study Thai and get to know what they’re actually singing about.

Hahaha, åh ja. Så jävla kul =) Jag och Michan var där vid halv nio, “min” vakt stod i dörren så det var bara att traska förbi kön. Trevligt, även om kön inte hunnit bli så lång. Började med vin så sakteliga, Elin och Bence dök upp strax därpå. Jättetrevligt att träffa Bence igen nu när det var så länge sen. Vi hamnade tillslut, otippat nog, vid Dj-båset där ljudteknikern undrade varför jag inte önskade låtar då, som jag alltid gör. Efter lite eftertanke kom jag på att det var honom jag skällt ut för att han inte hade rätt musik med sig en gång och sagt att han skulle få bra skivor av mig så han kan spela ordentlig musik, haha. Kul att munhuggas lite.

69 Eyes gick på vid.. kvart i tolv? SJUKT bra akustisk spelning. Har inte hört dem tidigare så det var en glad överraskning. Drack mer, sjöng och vrålade med i låtar, mycket Volbeat igår. De spelade Losing You så jag sprang och ringde Therése för att skrika lite i falsett och passa på att undra varför i helvete Plan Three ska spela för en bostadsrättsförening? Helt allvarligt… Ja, vi får väl se huruvida jag och Therése tar oss dit. Jag menar… bostadsrättsförening.

Sedan satt jag och Michan med hennes gamla kompisar och snackade skit ett tag, varvat med att snacka skit med 69 eyes på uteserveringen (FY FAN vad mina kläder stinker rök… aldrig mer uteservering…) men trevligt var det. De skulle tydligen till Rocks nu ikväll (kunde man ju gissat när Steffe hängde på hbj en hel kväll) och efterfest efter det. Men inte för mig skulle jag tro, jag ska köra lasergame Elin J &Co och sen får vi se

GRYM vecka so far

Retrospect has posted another video on their youtube account. For the people who hope to see some footage (Except for like a few seconds in the beginning), I have to disappoint you. It’s just a 7min interview (in thai) about Wacken I suppose. Can anyone translate? :p

It’s been nearly a month since Thai Rockers from Retrospect performed on the big Wacken Festival in Germany, and still we can’t really find any footage of the concert. I’m trying my best to show you things, but they’re not making it easy for me.

The guys of Retrospect, however, are releasing things little by little, and I hope that we won’t have to wait very long anymore before we’re able to seen footage of their European Debut!

What could the wacken version possibly be? I hope that they played the Run in their Encore. At least those lucky bastards at Wacken got Pror Wa Ruk, Yes Sir! and Mai Mee Ter. I’m filled with envy.

After these whole two weeks of searching the net, finding absolutely no footage of their Wacken performance, I came across some comments and noticed the band has made quite some impact.

People calling Retrospect their highlight – knowing there were over 200 bands on the festival site – and saying they have to come to England – or any other place in the world – and tour. As well as comments on Last.fm Stating they should tour the world together with label-mates Sweet Mullet. Now all we are wondering about is: why won’t they?

I also couldn’t keep myself from posting this thingy. It looked like they had some fun, will it mean they’ll do anything to return?

Thai Rockband Retrospect’s trip to Wacken is over and I’m here to tell you something.

Bummer. As far as I’m concerned the guys of Retrospect did great on this year’s Wacken festival. Though I have to admit I wasn’t even there, I haven’t found any clips on the internet and I’m just biased. For now I’ve only seemed to be able to find a little note. It’s just them talking in some not-understandable Thai and I believe greeting and thanking the European audience.

You can expect more when I find it as I’m willing to spread some Retrospect-love!

Eben erst gesehen – ärgerlich! Denn Volbeat habe ich schon verpasst…

Das jährlich stattfindende Przystanku Woodstock (“Haltestelle Woodstock”) an der deutsch-polnischen Grenze wird live im Netz übertragen.

Und das Line-Up setzt sich aus mehr und weniger bekannten Acts zusammen, die für eine Aufwandsentschädigung von 35 Euro + Fahrtkosten vor einer riesigen Masse Menschen spielen. Wie viele Zuschauer es genau sind, kann wohl niemand sagen. Wikipedia zufolge waren 2004 wohl 400 000 Menschen (!!!) auf dem Festival. Für dieses Jahr habe ich Schätzungen von ca. 250 000 Zuschauern gelesen. Die riesige Masse ist vor allem dadurch zu erklären, dass der Eintritt zum Festivalgelände gratis ist.

In diesem Jahr sind wie oben erwähnt Volbeat dabei. Am Samstag spielen u.a. Sham 69 (17.20 Uhr) und The Subways (0.40 Uhr). Sonntag gibt’s mit Clawfinger (21.00 Uhr), Guano Apes (23.30 Uhr) und Korpiklaani (1.00 Uhr) ordentlich auf die Ohren.

I haven’t updated my blog in more than two months now and I apologize for that, I have been busy doing my exam and doing some outdoors summer activities after that, anyway, I am back to blogging now and here is some of what I have been up to when I was away.

Siesta 09:

As usual, I do not attend this festival for the music but rather for the friends company and the camping, however two of the bands that I enjoyed their performances were Sonic Youth and Timbuktu .

Prom:

This was my first to both attend a prom and wear a smoking, it was fun except that towards the end of the night everybody was tired, due to all the dancing, keep in mind that we have been there for more than 10 hours in these outfits.

Graduation:

Finally, it was really awesome to finally get graduated, although the weather was terrible I never had this much fun in my entire life.

Roskilde 2009:

Definitely the best festival I have been to so far, 150 performers, more than 80000 visitors, a whole week, and the weather was perfect.

My only disappointment was Kanye West’s performance, I had high expectations for this guy, he really failed at moving the crowed, totally over rated, I really don’t want to piss his fan’s but his performance sucked big time except for his Heartless and Stronger songs.

Coldplay were awesome, it was a great way to end the festival.

Deadmau5 is my new favorite electro artist, can’t remember the last time I danced this much at a rave party.

Other artists that I have really enjoyed at Roskilde are Trentemøller (Know for his song Moan), Volbeat, Slipknot (although they were fucking messed up in the head) somewhat enjoyed their performance but its uniqueness makes it an unforgettable performance,

Oh, almost forgot, the naked race you will have to google that yourself, don’t want to link to anything like that from my blog, but here is a sneak peak anyway

I hereby declare the existence of a new genre, Metalbilly. Well actually unbeknown to me it was already in existence, but it was the first word that rushed to my head upon plugging in to listen to this latest discovery. I came to hear of Volbeat upon the announcement that they would be playing download festival, and sweet mother Mary am I glad they’re on the list. These crazy Danes know how to rock, and I don’t just mean rock in the moderate, half arsed way that seems commonplace. Volbeat will take you on a voyage in their rockabilly longboat, exploring new pastures where the heaviest of guitar riffs collide head on with a blasting vocal performance. Don’t be led into a false sense of security, Volbeat will knock you sideways along with any preconceptions you bring with you in your first listen. For a starting point, dip into Volbeat’s latest effort. The epically titled ‘Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood‘ rings with potency. Imagine Metallica, The Cramps and Social Distortion in a dive bar brawl and you would be half way towards establishing Volbeat’s unique sound.
