Subaru is recalling approximately 10,137 2014 Foresters due to faulty carpet mats.  The backing for the carpeted floor mats was not manufactured to specification.  As a result, the floor mats may curl when exposed to heat.  This curling could result in the mat interfering with the brake and accelerator pedals.

These models were manufactured in January 2013 through March 2013.  Subaru will notify and will issue an interim notification by the end of April 2013.  Owners may contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.  Subaru’s recall campaign number is WQH-44.

Nissan is recalling over 120,000 Altimas, because of the spare tires produced.  These tires may have been greatly over or under inflated.  These vehicles were manufactured between March 21, 2012 and March 26, 2013.  Tires that are significantly over or under inflated when used may fail while driving.

Due to electronic stability control system problem, Honda is recalling 43,782 Honda Fit sport vehicles that were manufactured between May 23, 2011 and March 22, 2013.  These vehicles do not conform with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Motor Safety Standard No. 126 regarding the yaw rates at high steering angles with certain tires.

Finally, Volvo will be recalling 2011-2013 VHD and VNL vehicles due to concerns that the brake chamber may leak pressure allowing the parking brake to drag.  This effect causes overheating of brake components, which may result in a fire.

Viele Fahrzeugbesitzer haben Bedenken, wenn Sie ihr mobiles Schätzchen zum Service, Reparatur oder Überprüfung in der Kfz-Werkstatt abgeben.

Werden wirklich alle Schäden gefunden und behoben?

Wie hoch wird die Rechnung sein?

Beim Kostenvoranschlag – auch auf Details achten!

Der Kostenvoranschlag ist in der Regel die Grundlage für den späteren Werkvertrag und somit bildet er auch die voraussichtliche Abschlussrechnung. Daher sollte er so detailliert wie möglich ausgearbeitet sein. Hierzu zählen die genaue Auflistung aller notwendigen Arbeiten nach Art und Umfang, die voraus benötigte Arbeitszeit, Materialkosten und nicht zuletzt die Mehrwertsteuer.

In einem seriösen erstellten Kostenvoranschlag haben so Positionen, wie z.B. Kleinteile, Reinigungsmaterial, Entsorgungskosten udgl. nichts verloren.

Für den Kostenvoranschlag selbst wird nur dann eine Zahlung fällig, wenn dies zuvor mit Ihnen vereinbart wurde.

Ausnahmen können allerdings gelten, wenn eine Reparatur des Schadens von vornherein nicht zu erwarten ist. Z.B. bei einer fiktiven Abrechnung mit einem Versicherer bei einem kleinen Haftpflichtschaden (Bagatellschaden bis zu 750,- €), oder das Fahrzeug soll unrepariert veräußert werden usw..

Kostenobergrenze vereinbaren!

Nicht immer ist ein Kostenvoranschlag möglich. Wenn das Autohaus zunächst die Art und die Höhe des Schadens feststellen muss, dann sollten der Auftraggeber und die Werkstatt vereinbaren, dass bei Überschreitung einer bestimmten Kostenobergrenze der Kunde sofort informiert und das weitere Handeln abgesprochen, bzw. vereinbart wird.

Bei Routinearbeiten, wie beispielsweise Öl- oder Reifenwechsel, bieten manche Werkstätten, wie z.B. die A.T.U´s, 1a-autoservice, autoPartner und viele weitere Festpreise an.

Sind routinemäßige Servicearbeiten von Nöten; wie z.B. Kundendienst nach entsprechender Laufleistung oder Zeit finden Sie meist in ihren Fahrzeugunterlagen die nötigen Informationen was zu deren Umfang gehört und was nicht.

Darüber hinaus verfügt der professionelle Servicebetrieb über die nötigen Checklisten die für eine nach Herstellervorgaben vorgeschriebene Abarbeitung des Kundendienstes / Services erforderlich sind. Freie Werkstätten bedienen sich hierzu meist der von der Fa. Autodata herausgegebenen Listen, in den die benötigten Teile, sowie auch die Richtzeiten für die erforderlichen Arbeiten aufgeführt sind. Lassen Sie sich diese zeigen und vergleichen sie diese mit dem Kostenvoranschlag. Der solide und routinierte Serviceberater / Kfz-Meister im Servicebetrieb ihrer Wahl wird dies ohnehin unaufgefordert machen.

Doch auch bei individuellen Arbeiten gilt: “Lassen Sie sich die Preise, incl. der gesetzlichen Mehrwertsteuer nennen und bestehen Sie immer auf einen Durchschlag des von ihnen gezeichneten Auftrages und nehmen Sie diesen mit.

Ungereimtheiten sind dann nicht mehr möglich”, so der Ratschlag des Kfz-Sachverständigen.

Der solide Kfz-Servicebetrieb nimmt an regelmäßigen Servicetests die von verschiedenen Organisationen, wie z.B. vom ADAC, der DEKRA, TÜV Süd Auto Service GmbH und weiteren durchgeführt werden teil.

Deren Sachverständige kontrollieren die Arbeitsweise des zu prüfenden Betriebes anhand eines Punktekatalogs. Der Prüfkatalog reicht von der Auftragsannahme bis hin zu eingebauten Fehlern in einem Kunden-Fahrzeug das der Kfz-Werkstatt unwissentlich zur Durchführung der Servicearbeit gestellt wird.

Sollten Sie selbst Interesse haben, an einem “Werkstatttest” teilzunehmen, so bieten die Online-Plattformen der diversen Organisationen hierzu die Möglichkeit sich einzutragen und die meisten gegen eine Aufwandentschädigung mitzumachen.

Der dadurch qualifizierte Kfz-Servicebetrieb wird diese Auszeichnung auch in seinen Kundenräumen, bzw. im Annahmebereich seinen Kunden zur Schau stellen, so der ehemalige freie Werkstatttester und Kfz-Sachverständige.

Bei der Abholung, vor der Heimfahrt!

Ist ihr Fahrzeug abholbereit und wieder fit; so sollte der Kunde erst die Werkstattrechnung und die beigefügten Unterlagen, wie z.B. Checklisten, Protokolle und weitere prüfen, bevor es wieder auf die Reise in die heimische Garage geht.

Augen auf bevor Sie den Servicebetrieb verlassen! Entdecken Sie, dass ihr Fahrzeug nach der Reparatur immer noch die Beule hat, oder der Ölverlust nicht richtig repariert wurde, melden Sie den übersehenen Mangel sofort der Werkstatt.

Es sollte auch eine Sichtprüfung auf äußerlich erkennbare Schäden hin erfolgen; wie z.B. Lackabplatzungen, weitere Dellen, Verschmutzungen, sowie sollte auch nach Möglichkeit der Unterboden in Augenschein genommen werden, den hier kommt es des Öfteren zu Verformungen die durch Hebebühnen verursacht werden.

Auch die Alt-Teile bei größeren Reparaturen sollten Sie sich zeigen lassen und ggf. mitnehmen. So kann eine spätere Überprüfung noch stattfinden, so der Kfz-Sachverständige.

Bei einem Mangel sollten Sie die Zahlung nur unter Vorbehalt leisten und dies auch auf dem Abholschein, bzw. der Rechnung vermerken. “Ein Kfz-Fachbetrieb haftet zwei Jahre lang für seine erbrachte Leistung. Dennoch verkürzen viele Werkstätten diese Frist vertraglich auf zwölf Monate” – fragen Sie nach! ” Treten in dieser Zeit Fehler oder Mängel auf, sollte der Kunde sie unverzüglich und schriftlich der Werkstatt melden und Nachbesserung verlangen (§ 635 BGB) – nähere Auskünfte kann Ihnen sicherlich der Anwalt Ihres Vertrauens geben.

Dabei ist es wichtig, dass der Kfz-Werkstatt eine angemessene Frist zur Nachbesserung gesetzt wird. Weigert sich der Kfz-Servicebetrieb, so kann der Kunde die Werkstatt wechseln und die Arbeiten anderweitig durchführen lassen. Die Kosten muss dann die erste Werkstatt tragen. Natürlich gibt es auch hierzu Ausnahmen; wenn die Nachbesserung mit derart hohe Kosten verbunden wäre, dass sie für die Kfz-Werkstatt völlig unzumutbar wären.

Auch hierzu sollten Sie einen Anwalt ihres Vertrauens konsultieren. Dieser wird Sie sicherlich richtig und fachlich kompetent beraten und ggf. die weiteren nötigen Schritte in die Wege leiten, so der Kfz-Sachverständige, Paul Orthuber aus 84032 Landshut.

Well, I was given a chance to drive away a Volvo V40 Cross Country for free last weekend,  if only I could break the course record for driving down a straight line on the road of Singapore without getting a speeding ticket ( AsIf only that could happen with all the traffic lights nearly 50ft away from each other in the Country we call, Singapore)

Nevertheless I was given the chance to test drive the all new Volvo V40 Cross Country (hope they didn’t find out about my expired driving license) at the Volvo Showroom

Check out the curves on this sleek steel of Volvo’s offering, Imagine I was so enthusiastic about the ride I brought my bike to see if it looks good on the Volvo when placed, and yup it sure fits the bill.

Driving down the road was a real pleasure and in-fact feeling the car in full throttle was like nothing I ever felt, this baby has more feel than the C180, Beemer 3 series, or even the Audi A4 I have driven.

I was blown away by the new technology of safety they have implemented into the current Volvo, I have to say this is really a new level of safety in cars and I hope that all cars in the future if not present FOLLOW the leader.

City Safety is a standard fitted low-speed collision avoidance technology and a Volvo world-first. Designed for safer urban driving and now operating at speeds up to 50 km/h, this laser-based technology can sense standstill or slower moving vehicles in front. If City Safety senses an impending collision, the brakes are pre-charged to act faster on your response. And if you fail to brake, City Safety automatically applies the brakes and switches off the throttle to help mitigate the effects of a collision. And if the speed difference between your car and the vehicle in front is less than 15 km/h, City Safety can even help you avoid a collision.

City Safety is activated when you start the car. Robin asked me to drive closely to one of the cars in front and he told me to relax just ram it in. ( I was like ARE YOU CRAZY, I dont have the cash to pay you if I wreck this car) but evil me went on and accelerated the car and guess what happened? The dashboard blinked RED, like in knight rider warning Michael to stop the car. (I LOVE YOU City Safety)

I have to say I am really a Volvo fan, cause for me Volvo was never about the looks but for it’s safety features.

Here is a Fun Fact, Did you know that Volvo pioneered or rather INVENTED  the three point seat belt and never patented it, because they wanted to share the safety of its ingenuity to rest of the world. KUDOS guys

I am totally sold when I saw the digital dashboard that comes standard (swooning all over), the new customizable Active TFT crystal display in the instrument cluster is amazingly impressive, The dash and interior of the new Volvo V40 are really nice and points out the “Design around you”-concept perfectly. It’s very easy to customize the instrument cluster to the color you want and it’s a very cool feature in my opinion. The 3 standard modes (or better said: themes) are: Elegance (brownish), Eco (blue/green) and Performance (red)

Check me out getting in-tuned with the customizable dashboard , Now that’s what I call showing off the leopards spots.

The Good

1. Customizable digital dashboard
2. Car feels sturdy even on top speed (ok dont tell the cops I went 210kmph)
3. Volvo’s design is sure a thumbs up
4. In build LED eye lid
5. Lots of customization for the Volvo
6. Cabin is so quiet (super plus point for me)
7. Roof Rail comes standard
8. Panaromic roof
9. Reaction of the throttle response is very good
10. All the Safety features of the car comes standard (except for the pedestrian air bag which comes optional)

The Bad

1. Not a Real SUV
2. The car would be compact size in my category.
3. 4wd version but only an option in the T5
4. Cost, Cost and Costly (but if you can afford it, TOTALLY WORTH every Penny)
