It’s worth finding out why the Canadian government has started banning the widely use chemical BPA in containers that hold products for human consumption. The scientific data highlighted in this report is one of the most significant pieces of evidence to explain what is causing the plummeting fertility and skyrocketing cancer rates worldwide along with other reproduction defects. Frederick Vom Saal, Professor of Biology at the University of Missouri Columbia, accommodated Fox News in performing tests on plastics, in particular food cans with plastic linings. The popular food products in cans tested were purchased at an average supermarket. The professor of biology tested for the chemical BPA (Bisphenol-A) to determine how much is leaked into foods or liquids from the unstable plastic lining on a microscopic level. Plastics manufactures add BPA to their products as it can create a glass like surface and are less prone to crack. The implications are significant as in the news broadcast professor Vom Saal explains that the chemical BPA is known as a synthetic female sex hormone mimicker and in “1936 was considered for use as an oestrogen drug”. It is an unstable chemical that leeches out at very low but powerful levels.

“We started testing it at levels tens of thousands of times below what any body has ever tested before and found it profoundly damaged the male reproductive system. We know it causes brain damage and it causes breast cancer and prostate cancer,” said Professor Vom Saal.

This test involved the purchase of different canned products right off supermarket shelves. The food was removed from the cans. The cans were rinsed with water until clean and left to dry. Then ultra pure filtered water was poured in to the cans. The test was to determine how stable can linings are with merely water being in contact with them for only 24 hours. Professor Vom Saal explained, “every single product here put out an amount of Bisphenol-A that would be in the danger zone. This is a chemical that can alter the way your cells function at below a trillionth of a gram. One million times lower than this.”

If one trillionth of a gram is dangerous and can alter your cells then it is easy to conclude that with a dose one million times higher we’d defiantly see high fertility drops and sperm DNA damage in exposed populations. One millionth of gram is expressed as a microgram. Cans of peas were scientifically tested at over 18 micrograms by the professor of biology. Cans of Tomato sauce were tested at over 30 micrograms. People who buy juice and tomato sauces are getting an even greater dose of the female sex hormone as citric acid causes larger leeching of Bisphenol-A.

This particular test was for 24 hours unlike the food products and drinks that sit on the shelves of grocery stores and stockrooms for months. Most people’s daily diet has levels of the female sex hormone many times higher. Even the inside of paper juice cartons are lined with plastic.

So where are the human population fertility and DNA damage statistics to backup the findings of these tests?

The Centre for Disease Control, a U.S government agency, performed tests on the public and concluded that “ 95% of Americans have detectable levels of Bisphenol-A in their urine” .

Of course an over supply of the female sex hormone oestrogen is not good for boys or the developing foetus. Last years Canada’s semi-state run broadcaster the CBC reported that since the 1950’s there has been massive damage done to sperm in the general human population. The CBC stated: “ Eighty-five per cent of the sperm produced by a healthy male is DNA-damaged. Damaged sperm have been linked to a 300% increase in testicular cancer – a form of cancer that affects young men in their 20s and 30s. The average sperm count of a North American college student today is less than half of what it was 50 years ago.”

The professor placed Bisphenol-A together with breast cancer cells can they multiplied rapidly. Breast cancer is skyrocketing worldwide. When a woman’s body has a surplus of oestrogen it helps oestrogen based breast cancer to grow. With cancer cells the levels of BPA in tin cans with plastic linings “would massively stimulate these cells” said the professor of biology. Doctors advise women with such cancer to avoid the contraceptive pill as it increases oestrogen levels. However unlike independent research scientists over worked hospital doctors with very little time on their hands are not aware that BPA is known as a synthetic oestrogen and that anyone who consumes food or drinks from plastic have detectable levels of BPA in their urine. Oestrogen based cancer is now the number one cancer among women. The CBC reported that bisphenol-A “languished until the 1930’s, when it was discovered that it could be used as a synthetic estrogen.” In the 1950’s it started being used in plastics but “between 1980 and 2000, U.S. production of bisphenol-A grew nearly five times. And it is now a ubiquitous component of clear polycarbonate plastic,” states the CBC.

The facts

100%: Bisphenol-A (BPA) mimics the female sex hormone oestrogen.
100%: BPA leaks into food and drinks.
100%: In animals minute levels thousands of times lower than what humans consume profoundly damaged the male reproductive system and caused cancer.
100%: Oestrogen breast cancer has skyrocketed worldwide .
100%: Anyone who consumes food or drinks contained in plastic have detectable levels of BPA in their urine.
100%: Healthy American males were test to have just 15% non-defective sperm remaining and only half the sperm count of males in the 1950’s.
100%: Breast cancer cells multiply rapidly when BPA is added.
100%: A female sex hormone chemical is not good for boys.
100%: Canada has started banning BPA.

In a CBC documentary titled The Disappearing Male doctor Shanna Swan Director of Reproductive Epidemiology at the University of Rochester said, “the world health organisation standards for classifying a man as infertile have moved downwards. So for example very early it was sixty million per millilitre then down to forty million per millilitre, now it’s twenty million per millilitre and they are talking about putting down to ten. And that is because if a man goes in for a seamen analysis they can’t have too many classified as abnormal.”

Also in the CBC documentary a fertility clinic reveals that twelve years ago for every ten people’s sperm screened seven or eight would be acceptable, at the then World Health Organisation standards. Over time it became harder to find acceptable sperm because they noticed of that same collage aged population only three or four would have adequate sperm quality, even with falling ‘acceptable’ levels.

At the end of this rare Fox News broadcast, after presenting the viewer with scientific data on Bisphenol-A, it discredits that legality by giving opinions that Bisphenol-A is safe. When given conflicting information from a perceived authority source most people are left confused and in ‘information limbo’ of inaction and continue the status quo. One of the so called experts the Fox News corporation brings on at the end just works for a “trade organisation that represents the chemical companies” and gives the opinion that the opinions of regulatory agencies around the world view sex hormones in the human diet as safe. Canada has already started banning BPA. Government health regulatory agencies countless times in the past have acted like their political counter parts when a major incident arose. They nicely plead legal incompetence. It works almost every time. In the banking industry high paid banking experts can overextend a bank’s liabilities many times and say they did not know this would lead to bankruptcy. When all banks do it and the economy goes into recession or depression expert government finance ministers also claim they didn’t have a clue. With regards pleading legal incompetence in the health industry, it worked with asbestos and it worked with SV40. Professor Vom Saal said, “there are seven hundred scientific published studies about the health effects of Bisphenol-A that the FDA has never gotten around to looking at.” On C-Span when questioned about conflict of interest studies Norris Alderson of the FDA told senators, “we don’t normally ask for independent sources.” If the FDA did officially look at those scientific studies that differ from the chemical companies’ studies they could not legally plead innocent incompetence if they did not act on that information.

These ‘watchdog’ agencies are a corporation’s best friend not the publics. The general public don’t seem to mind or are unaware of the fact that people on board these agencies have conflicts of interest having formally worked with companies manufacturing the products they approve. Monsanto Corporation for example: Linda Fisher minister for the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) worked as the executive vice president for Monsanto Corporation seven years prior to that. Prior to those years of employment by Monsanto she worked for the EPA and prior to that she worked for Monsanto and prior to that for the EPA. Deputy Commissioner for FDA policy : Michael Taylor – Monsanto’s Senior Counsel. Supreme Court Justice : Justice Clarence Thomas – Monsanto’s Lawyer for Regulatory Affairs. Secretary of Commerce : Micky Kantor – Board of Directors, Monsanto. Environmental Protection Agency : Lidia Watrud – Biotech Researcher, Monsanto. Secretary of Agriculture : Anne Veneman – Board of Directors, Calgene, purchased by Monsanto. FDA Commissioner : Michael Friedman -Senior vice president, GD Searle, a division of Monsanto. EPA Chief Administrator : William Ruckelshaus – Monsanto Board Member. Secretary of Defense : Donald Rumsfeld – President of Searle, subsidiary of Monsanto. Attorney General of the United States : John Ashcroft – recipient of Monsanto’s largest campaign contribution in the 2000 election and is pro Monsanto patents on food and DNA. This is just one company sample of the countless examples of the revolving door between corporations and government watchdog agencies. These agencies give the public a false sense of security.

When a court case is taken against one of these agencies on the very rare occasions when they cannot prove innocent incompetence, in no doubt a long dawn affair, they simply settle on a payout using taxpayers’ money instead of money from the corporation responsible because the corporation’s product was approved by the government agency. The plaintiffs, who are often very ill, must sign a confidentiality contract when agreeing to the payout. So far only the Canadian government have banned Bisphenol-A, but merely for baby bottles not for baby cups or anything similar. The government ‘watchdog’ agency says it’s too dangerous for babies to drink from plastic bottles because they leech the synthetic female sex hormone BPA. However, the agency does not comment on babies receiving BPA from plastic weaning cups or a developing foetuses receiving BPA from a mother who consumes goods contained in plastic. Banning plastic baby bottles was a hollow gesture due to too much of the Canadian public being aware of BPA.

A handful of ordinary people may give up their livelihood to hound these agencies to look at scientific data not provided by corporations that they previously have not or refuse to look at. But these people are out done and out numbered by paid corporate lobbyists who do get meetings with regulatory agents, some of whom are their previous colleagues. Asbestos was in common use and was not poisonous, even if you died from it, until governments slowly in the 1980’s made it official that it was poisonous. Not until then were busy doctors told the dangers of asbestos and were given permission by their medical association to discuses it with patients without losing their licence. The FDA has never looked at the effects of BPA on a developing body because the chemical companies, even using skewed studies, never handed them one. Since 1976 the U.S. government has banned just five chemicals. Until non-conflict of interest data is officially looked at and Bisphenol-A is given the ‘danger rubber stamp’ individuals in the general population will rely upon the glimmer of independent scientists continuing to alert their fellow man. In the meantime over-worked and heavily regulated hospital doctors can continue attending annual conferences to discus how surprised they are at the increase of reproduction damage and question why nowadays so many people with no cancer history in their family suddenly have bad hereditary cancer genes. Since it was known in the 1930’s that Bisphenol-A mimics a female sex hormone I would not hold my breath waiting on that rubber stamp.

If the data on this chemical were made widespread the billion-dollar Bisphenol-A industry would end, the rate of DNA damage to sperm and reproductive damage would halt, health would increase and of course population levels would also see an increase. I’d imagine there are not too many mothers who would knowingly purchase a plastic bottle of spring water, a bottle of female sex hormones, for their little boy if they know about BPA. News corporations who all have vested interests with big business or governments constantly tell the public relatively meaningless information about calories rather than important data about Bisphenol-A. The public would be lucky if Bisphenol-A got mentioned once a year even with discrediting opinions tacked on at the end. The only question left is: Will a significant percentage of the public become conscious of this chemical before sperm DNA damage rises from 85% to 100%?

I highly covet your prayers because I have a daughter who is 3… and likes to misbehave the moment I get on the phone.

Pray that God’s hand be in it. All of my references have been called and I do not know what was asked or what was said. I’m praying it was positive, but you know how interviews go… they always ask for a “negative”!

Well, I’m trying not to worry about it too much. I just want God’s will be done. And of course, all glory to Him!

Will post more later. It’s a crazy busy week for me with our church’s fall revival going on.

The ball is rolling!

A VOM rep called one of my references today. Unfortunately though, she was not able to talk at the time because she was at work… I’m hopeful that she calls back tomorrow. What’s embarrassing is, I forgot to tell her that I had used her for a reference! Oops!

So when she called me asking what “VOM” was all about, I got a little tongue tied. I hope I didn’t mar my credibility in any way. She is a close friend, so I’m not too worried. I’m just really excited to see this ministry get under way. I also couldn’t be very helpful to her in that I really don’t know what they are going to ask her. I said that they would probably ask about church attendance, my character, my morals. I’ve never done this before, so I am at a total loss.

Well, for now this is the only news to report. I covet your prayers that the reference checks go well, that God’s hand would be in it. I’m trusting Him. I’m praying for His perfect will. That this ministry will edify the Body of Christ in all restricted nations. That I can be a voice for the persecuted.

Endlich ist es soweit und man bekommte einen Eindruck vom Dreh des neuen Horror Films der Resident Evil Reihe. Was zu sehen ist? Seht selbst!

Ein riesiges Schiff, eine Crew die einen Film drehen will und grimmig hereinschaut, sowie eine größere Gruppe von weiß gekleideten Menschen, die Ähnlichkeit mit einem Chor haben. Das ist bis jetzt alles was an Bildmaterial zur Resident Evil Verfilmung Afterlife zu sehen ist. Besonders spektakulär ist das nicht, allerdings kann man sich hier Gedanken machen, was diese Szene zu bedeuten hat, da, offensichtlich, auch Kameras an Bord sind. Jetzt kommt ihr ins Spiel. Vielleicht wird das ja eine schöne Horrorszene auf offener See. Was mich jetzt interresiert, glaubt ihr das gleiche, fällt euch zu den Bildern etwas ein, oder habt ihr vielelicht eine andere Vorstellung zur Szene. Einfach in die Comments und in den Vote posten!

This last weekend I was privileged to be able to present Christian Persecution and a table display with Voice of the Martyrs. The event was called Reality Weekend. Reality weekend was a multi-church youth gathering over 2 days here in Carlsbad, NM. I was able give out GFA book, Revolution in World Missions, website stickers and CD’s by Paul Washer, Powerful Youth Message. The response there was incredible. Most of the youth at least checked out, asked questions and picked up free stuff. There was roughly about 140 students and 30 adults, or so. I was asked to do a 5 minute prayer/persecution/Reality talk during the opening worship on Sat. When I started talking, God delivered the words, the message and the prayer. Some of the youth were slumped onto the stage when I led prayer. I was then able to do a 30 minute break out group presenting VOM and Christian Persecution. There were four break out groups going on and they gave me the biggest room. I set up over 60 plus chairs but really only expected 10 kids or so. But the Lord brought more youth than I had chairs. There were even youth on the floor. I brought the truth about persecution present, VOM history and objectives and challenged the youth to Matthew 7:21-23, keeping in mind persecution and Reality! The response was pretty amazing. Afterwards I spent almost 3 hours disciplining and answering questions. Several of the youth showed a genuine fire for becoming missionaries. Two girls asked me this, “Can you get us connected to becoming missionaries like you were talking about?” They were willing to give there all to sharing the gospel. In this time of discipling, we went through many Scriptures, especially the ones most churches will not preach, challenged the youth to true discipleship and watched a good part of the Communion of Saints Under Fire, a VOM DVD. As a result, we could have anywhere up to 6 or 7 new youth begin to come to our home on Saturdays for fellowship, although we will see what the Lord does. The Lord did not have to show me any fruit, but He did and I am so blessed and encouraged by it! There is a remnant of young people who are willing to walk into and through the fire! Praise God!

Three Prisoners Today

On Feb. 4, Gao Zhisheng, was abducted by Chinese secret police from his hometown. Since 2005, Gao has been repeatedly arrested, imprisoned and severely tortured by Chinese authorities, mostly for his work defending Chinese Christians. In 2006, he and a group of prominent human rights lawyers created the Association of Human Rights Attorneys for Chinese Christians. In 2007, he was arrested and spent over 50 days behind bars where he was tortured. “I was beaten so badly that my whole body began shaking uncontrollably on the floor,” Gao writes of his torture in an open letter.The Chinese government does not acknowledge that Gao is in one of their prisons, as a result his letters of encouragement are being mailed to the Chinese embassy in Washington DC.

I read about Gao a few months ago. Sad to say that his whereabouts are still unknown. Gao does have a wife and children if I remember correctly. I encourage you to pray for not only him, but his wife and children as well.

In September 2007 Chinese government officials closed Alimujiang Yimiti’s business and accused him of using it as a cover up for “preaching Christianity among people of Uyghur ethnicity.” He was later arrested in January 2008 and accused of “subversion of the national government and endangering national security,” a crime punishable by death. Alimujiang, a former Muslim, became a Christian more than 10 years ago and has been an active Christian in the growing Uyghur church. On May 27 Alimujiang’s case went to trial. His case was referred back to the Chinese Public Security Bureau’s prosecutors due to “insufficient evidence.” He remains in custody.

On June 10, a Chinese court sentenced Christian bookstore owner, Shi Weihan,38, to three years in prison for “illegal business operations,” and imposed a US$21,975 fine, according to China Aid Association. Shi Weihan operated a legal bookstore and only sold books with the government’s approval. His Holy Spirit Trading Company printed Bibles and Christian literature and distributed then freely to local house churches. Weihan was arrested in November 2007 for printing and distributing Bibles and other Christian literature. He was released in January 2008 due to insufficient evidence, but was arrested again in March and held indefinitely. China Aid reported his sentence will run from November 2007 to November 2010. Believers hope that Weihan could appeal his sentence because of medical reasons. While in prison his diabetic condition worsened.

I don’t think any of us have any clue what it would be like to operate a business only to have the government control it. To see that an entity can tell you what you can and can not sell. And on top of that, if you sell something that they are against they can put you in prison. We heartily need to be approaching the Throne of Grace on Shi’s behalf due to his medical condition. All it takes is a few moments and it can make all the difference in the world for him. Shi is also able to receive letters at the detainment center where he is held.

It took me quite a while to get the whole family together for a picture, but we did it last night. Not the greatest picture, but it was accomplished and that’s all that matters.

I don’t have many expectations at this point, but I am excited at the possibility of being used by the Lord to accomplish His will. May He do many wonderous things through me and by me in this ministry for the persecuted Church.

Ew… Seriously, this is just ew.

I mean, we all get what this product is for – don’t we? In fact, this category of product can be quite handy (ew, gross – bad word choice) when one is traveling and the quality of toilet facilities at one’s destination is unknown. But do we really need a disturbingly graphic depiction of this product in action? I never thought I’d be so horrified by toothpaste.

And why are they even bothering with euphemisms anymore? Shouldn’t the tagline just be “Freshmates – for a cleaner ass!” or “Keep your crack dingleberry-free – with Charmin Freshmates!” or “Say goodbye to your excrement-smeared anus – with Freshmates!”

I met my friend Brittany and her friend Katie late Friday night at Clarke’s on Belmont (If you’re from Chicago, I’m sure you can get an idea of where this is going). I approached them, as they were already seated, and we shared what started out as a pleasant meal of chicken tenders and potato skins.

Katie received a disrupting phone call by some very inebriated friends of hers and rolled her eyes as she excused herself from the table to meet them outside. Brittany and I worked on catching each other up on our night (I spent mine in Wicker Park and she in Wrigleyville).

Soon after, a gentleman, most likely in his Twenties, wearing a light blue button down shirt, stumbled into the diner. He was trying to find his way to the bathroom as orange-liquid vomit poured out from his mouth and splattered on the floor, inches away from our table. I had to interrupt Brittany’s story to inform her to take cover and watch out for this guy’s vom. The young gentleman’s friend, wearing an Ed Hardy t-shirt ran after him to make sure he was going to be OK, and the staff at Clarke’s appeared rapidly to put out a “CUIDADO! PISO MOJADO” sign and began to wipe up the puke. I am still shocked we were able to get through our meal.

Katie returned with her drunk friends who seemed to have lost their way and their minds. We filled her in on the incident and she said she was glad she missed it; understandably.

When we started to leave the restaurant we walked past the young gentleman sitting in a booth, and something about us must have made him sick again, because he got up and walked briskly toward the exit. I stopped in my tracks and yelled to Brittany–”IT’S THE VOM GUY! IT’S THE VOM GUY!” as she heard my signal and ran for her life out the door. His trusty Ed Hardy friend got up and chased after him again and I started to feel bad and said, “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to call him the ‘Vom Guy.’” But he replied back to me, “No, he IISSS the Vom Guy!”

The rest of us went outside to check on Brittany and she felt very lucky, as she was seconds away from getting vommed on. We proceeded to walk back to her apartment to end the night. We were happy to come out of Clarke’s unscathed, but, Vom Guy, if you’re out there, I hope you recovered from your Epic Vom Night.

Blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol.

Day Nine (last friday)/DISTRICT 9 Movie Review $9

Friday night was dinner and a movie double date with my girlfriend and my roommates. Well, the four of us went to dinner, but only three went to go see the movie. Before dinner we got the mix to make margaritas, which I think came to about $30 something dollars, so let’s say $35. After dinner we went home and prepared for the movie, as my girlfriend prepared for her drive home (with whiskey-sodas). We prepared by smoking and mixing the margaritas (read: my roommate made the margarita and I smoked). We decided to save the drinks for the theater, and poured the mix into a thermos. Here’s the movie review:

I liked it. It was entertaining, thought-provoking, and engrossing. But only fifteen minutes into the movie did we realize the shaky camera was not quite conducive for throwing back very potent margaritas. Shack city? Try puke city. So instead we munched on the ice in a cup that we were planning on pouring our drinks into. Personally, if it meant I could chill with the prawns, I wouldn’t be too unhappy with turning into one. Get to drive one of those mechs. Oh, did I give something away? So yeah, I spent more time on the picture than I did on the review. I’ve got drinking to do, okay?

Let’s say $9.

The Reefer update

Lilla skitvalpen lever ju än. Tänkte dra en liten uppdate om hur det går.

Hon kissar inne ibland även fast hon hade en golden streak utan någon oprovocerat på en vecka, jag tror det mest är för att jag är dålig på att lyssna och hon är lite ovan att vara här i Boden, i en annan lägenhet än “hemma” liksom. Kärringarna här i huset gnäller satan om att man inte får rasta hundar “på området” även fast vi inte gör det – det är utanför området på “baksidan” av huset – eftersom det på framsidan av huset/innergården finns grillplats, lekplats och sandlåda osv. Ursäkta ordvalet men jag blir så himla less, det är en elva veckors valp som inte hinner så långt, vad gör det om hon kissar på gräsmattan bakom huset där ingen ändå någonsin befinner sig?! Tröttsamt.

Idag var vi en sväng till Vacker Tass, närmsta djuraffären här. Köpte nytt halsband och koppel till henne. Hon krånglar så otroligt när vi är ute och går, hon drar sällan men hon “promenadvägrar” nåt galet. Stannar i tid och otid, sätter sig ner, vägrar gå och sånt. Haft ett smalt valp/utställningskoppel tidigare (som vi fick av en vän till Robin) men det kändes som att det skar in så hemskt när hon tvärstannade och att hon inte lyssnade alls med det på. Funderade på sele men vill inte ge henne möjligheten att börja dra starkt (och så växer hon ju ur den på några veckor) så det fick bli ett bredare och tjockare halsband och ett lite bredare koppel. Än så länge har det gått bra, tycker hon följer lite bättre även om hon fortfarande är obstinat. Klassiskt valpbeteende men lika jobbigt för det. Verkar som att hon testar en hel del men ger upp efter ett tag, vilket hon inte gjorde med förra kopplet/halsbandet, så det är ett litet steg på vägen!

Efter det stannade vi till på hundcafét här, det är verkligen jättebra. Åt lunch där och Rifa fick en biff. Håller på att föra över henne från torrfoder till vombiffar, har en bekant med samma hundras här i krokarna som ger sina hundar vom (inälvsmat, luktar som det låter) och det verkar gå bra. Hon är lite lös i magen (ledsen för informationen… men det är värre för mig) men annars funkar det kanon. Hon älskar det och äter bättre än med torrfoder. Ger henne både och nu ett tag för variation.

Får se hur det går med nya halsbandet och kopplet nu på nästa promenad, om typ en halvtimma då, hoppas på att hon kommer gå bättre. Lilla tjejen. Ibland trilskas hon så otroligt men när hon kommer och kryper upp i mitt knä när vi sitter och väntar utanför Coop medan Robin handlar mat så smälter jag. Bökar sig upp och lägger nosen mot min hals. Tidigare satt jag med datorn i knät i soffan, så halkade hon ner med bakbenen när hon bökade runt, gnällde och försökte klättra upp och när hon lyckades rullade hon ihop sig bredvid mig. Hon är så himla fin. Min bebis.
