This coming Tuesday a special election is being held in Fairfax for the Chair of the Board of Supervisors … I encourage our Democratic friends and all of the voters in Fairfax to get out vote for Sharon Bulova … here’s some basic info about the election

VOTING INFORMATION:
Tuesday, February 3rd.

Voting will be at your normal polling location, and polls are open from 6 AM – 7 PM.

As many of you know I have strongly endorsed LaBravia Jenkins in the special election being held December 16th.

I encourage Fredericksburg area voters to get informed and then take time Tuesday to go to the polls and V O T E !

The following are from numerous emails I received in support of LaBravia:

Well Gang,

For whatever it is worth to you, tonight I met Labravia Jenkins. I like the way she handles herself.

She is a law school graduate from George Mason. She is the acting Fredericksburg Commonwealth Attorney. She mentioned that the 5 assistant attorneys in her office are all young (20’s). She is originally from Illinois and has lived in our area 20 years.

She believes that the punishment should fit both the crime and the person charged in order to be effective. I agree with her. She feels that the 8 years under Mr. Sharp (currently a judge) as his assistant have prepared her well. She has 13 years in the Fredericksburg area as a prosecutor. She was the Public Defender in Fredericksburg for 3 years.

This variety (neither Olsen nor Hicks) and level of experience (not Hicks) makes her my choice.

I agree, Ron. I know Labravia; she knows this job, and has been doing it well. Let the incumbent win. Why should someone else win, when she has been doing it so well herself.

FWIW, I agree she is the best choice. Having worked in private practice for 8 years, I don’t think Hicks has the experience needed and I have heard of Olsen prosecuting a case that made me question his use of the prosecutor’s discretion.

Barack Obama has made it clear that, if elected, one of the first acts of legislation he’ll sign is a Freedom of Choice act. It may sound insignificant but the repercussions run deep & wide. All the hard work of conservatives & pro-lifers to have a ban brought on partial-birth abortions will be null & void; the ban will be over turned for every state across the nation. Apparently, Obama feels that for a young girl/woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, she shouldn’t be “punished with a baby”. What about the American ideal of teaching “responsibility for one’s own actions”? Or is this nation so caught up in building confidence rather than intelligence that we toss the whole concept of responsibility & accountability out the window?….Or more like tossing the baby out with the bathwater……?

And what about the security of our nation? You won’t hear this in mainstream press but….there are NATO officials saying there is already talks of near-future impending terrorist attacks on USA if BARACK OBAMA IS ELECTED!!!! Hello? Is this what our nation wants & needs? I don’t like the war either & realize that is A LOT of US $$ that could be used desperately right here on our own soil. But to pull out of Iraq now would make the lost lives of troops out to be blood shed in vain. The intensity there built gradually and so must our exit be. As for TUESDAY’S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, Americans better think twice–regardless of your party & hunger for “change”–and elect the ticket with the most foreign affairs experience & wisdom. That would not be the OBAMA/BIDEN ticket.

In a recent interview, vice presidential candidate Joe Biden commented on how one of the things he still most enjoys doing back home in Delaware is hanging out with old friends & neighbors at Katie’s Diner. Tell me, Joe, do you hang out with ghosts? Apparently, the Katie’s Diner he referred to has been closed for 20 YEARS!…..Do we need to do a background check on every comment these candidates say? “Say It Ain’t So!!”

Fredericksburg Mayor Inspires Constituents
Editor, Times-Dispatch:

A recent news article, “Regional Leaders Draw Inspiration from S.C. Mayor,” was about a group of Richmond community leaders who visited Charleston and came away with the impression that one person, Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr., has made it possible for that city to make real progress.

I’m pleased to say that the Richmond group need look only up the road to see another city where real progress is being made around the work of another mayor, Tom Tomzak. As in Charleston, Fredericksburg’s advances are not accomplished by the mayor alone, but by building consensus and keeping our leaders focused on moving our community forward.

From millions of dollars of new business investment to confronting the mess that was Maury School, I have seen the brand of good government leadership Tomzak has brought to our city. I will be voting to re-elect Mayor Tomzak and do my part to help keep Fredericksburg moving forward.

If you live in Virginia’s 99th House District I encourage you to VOTE tomorrow for Albert Pollard in the special election. Folks all across the northern neck know Albert, want to return him to Richmond and the only way he loses is if everyone just takes his election for granted. So I’m asking you, please be sure to vote!

The 99th House District is comprised of all of King George, Lancaster , Northumberland, Richmond , and Westmoreland Counties ; and part of Caroline County comprised of the Bowling Green and Port Royal Precincts and parts of the Mattaponi and Woodford Precincts.

11am Special Election Update - Fredericksburg

Folks coming to vote in Fredericksburg assigned to Ward 3, Precinct 301 are greeted by Democrats Clyde Matthews and Ron Smith. With almost 3,000 registered voters it is a pivitol precinct that is almost evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. Voter turnout at this location is very low with only 134 ballots cast at 10:15 am.
