This week it has been reported that many London boroughs will freeze Council Tax and some will probably reduce it. The leader of Wirral Council has said that he wants a 5.2% increase in April and then around 4% every year for the next four years.

Steve Foulkes and his colleagues have got to wake up. Thousands of people have lost their jobs, public sector workers pay is being frozen and inflation is so low that there will be no increase in pensions in April. No increase in Council Tax is tolerable or acceptable.

Politicians, bankers and others have responsibility for the bankrupt state of our economy, but the guilty ones are not Council Tax payers and certainly not pensioners or low earners with frozen incomes. Instead of punishing the most vulnerable the Council must put an end to its own waste and excess.

Voters should be saying to all our elected representatives that they will not get a vote next May unless they can show that they have worked to keep taxes down and not supported any tax rise.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Proposition 1 (overturning the legalization of gay marriage in Maine) has passed, delivering a great blow to the civil rights movement of our time.

“Voters have a pretty good grasp about what they think marriage should be,” said Jeff Flint, the Sacramento strategist for the Yes on 1 campaign. “It’s not that they’re discriminatory or bigoted. They just draw the line at what they think marriage should be.”

It’s not discriminatory or bigoted? Perhaps it’s just me, but I can imagine those kinds of words being used to describe interracial marriage once upon a time. Of course, we wouldn’t dream of saying that of interracial marriage now, just as I think one day people won’t bat an eye at gay marriage. When that time will be, however, I do not know.

Probably when people realize it’s not the individual’s rights should supersede those of the government. And when the people who manage to ignore all things scientific (like when people mistakenly say there are ‘holes‘ in evolutionary theory) finally realize that there actually is evidence for homosexuality being biological, as opposed to the no evidence there is for it being a choice. And once people realize that it’s not their place to deny gay people the state-conferred benefits given to all married people. And once people realize that “my church is against it” is not a legitimate argument in a country where (to quote Thomas Jefferson) there is a wall of separation between church and state.

As for this whole referendum business — perhaps these issues shouldn’t always be left to the people, if the people are supporting oppression. After all, if it had been up to referendum, would the institution of slavery have ended when it did?

Voter turnout for election was far greater than what was projected.  Clearly the words and opinions of Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have been heard.  The path of destruction under democratic party leadership has been derailed, as Republicans are on the rebound with victory  in key states.

As an election judge at our local polls, turnout was better than 50% in our precinct.  Previously a poll observer, this was the first time I have worked as an official.  I have to tell you, props go to ACORN for finding ways to deceive and influence an election because the sanctity of the voting process in our state is as tight as a flea’s ass.   Double and triple checking of id’s, addresses, etc., pissed of one out of thousands of voters.  The machines worked, the ballots were in English and all was fine.

Dropping off the votes was almost like pulling into a FEMA camp with tight security.  Do not exit your vehicle, hand over the master record of the votes, open your trunk for an officer to remove the voting materials, sign here that you verify everything is on the up and up.  Rather an intimidating and successful means of participating in the democracy that makes this nation great.

Congratulations to the winners.  More importantly congratulations to the voters for taking the time to speak out loud and clear in the voting booth against the gross injustices that the democrats have procured upon the United States of America.

Getting a bit personal in advance of election day.  I recall an uncle complaining he had jury duty when I was a teenager.  I got in his face and said it is what you need to do as an American, even though he had already served in the military.  He got out of it somehow.  He is now dead, but the story sticks in my craw.  I have had jury duty twice now and while it is no fun, it is my duty.  In the end, God will  judge us all. 

Tomorrow being election day it is not only my duty to vote,  but my privilege for the first time  to work the election polls as an Associate Judge.  I will swear to uphold the integrity of everyone’s vote.  Our state  pays me to do this, which I personally find abominable, and will probably end up donating the roughly $100.

I would work the polls for for free.  I am blessed to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.  It is the least I can do for my country, state and neighbors.  Republican, Democrat , Independent, Christian, Jew, Muslim or whatever- on election day, and what should be every day, we are Americans.  

BTW, our ballots are all in the English language! 

While our soldiers fight for democracy in Iraq and Afghanistan to protect what the Obama Administration calls ”The Homeland,” I still call it The United States of America.  For all the U.S.A. stands for, this election day I will serve my country by sitting in a hard metal chair for more than 13 hours to ensure the integrity and privilege  the public to vote.  I will then escort the sealed ballots to their destination for counting, go home, greet my family to explain to the little ones why I wasn’t home for dinner and watch the election returns on Fox. 

The least you can do is VOTE.

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) yelled out “you lie!” at President Obama while he was presiding over a joint session of Congress. His outburst has been good for $2.7 million in campaign contributions over the last two months.

Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) raised $114,108 in one day after labeling the other team’s health care proposals as a way to “die quickly.”

Such hyper-partisanship is regrettable. But there is a reason politicians indulge in it — voters like it. Why else would it be so good for their campaign war chests?

Sometimes I think the saddest part of democracy is that the people get what they want.

Reporting from San Francisco – A federal judge refused Wednesday to dismiss a constitutional challenge to Proposition 8, ruling that a trial was required to resolve legal and factual disputes over the voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage.

U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker, ruling after nearly two hours of argument in San Francisco, rejected arguments by Proposition 8 proponents that precedent and tradition clearly showed last November’s ballot measure was permissible under the U.S. Constitution.

Section 200 . Definitions .

For the purpose of this charter, the following words and phrases shall be deemed to have the meanings hereinafter ascribed to them, unless from the context thereof a contrary meaning is clearly intended:

Adjudicated Newspaper shall mean a newspaper which is adjudicated as such pursuant to the provisions of section 6000 et. seq. of the Government Code of the state of California.

Applicable Law shall mean an enactment of the legislature which lawfully governs, allows or regulates activities of cities having a charter adopted pursuant to the provisions of the constitution.

Appointive Officers shall mean those officers designated as such by this charter.

Ralph M. Brown Act shall mean that act of the state legislature entitled as such, as the same now exists or as the same may hereinafter be lawfully amended, designated as section 54950 et. seq. of the Government Code.

Charter shall mean this charter as it now exists, or as it may hereafter be amended.

City shall mean the city of Temple City, established as a charter city by this charter.

City Council shall mean the legislative body of city.

City Manager shall mean the duly appointed, qualified and acting city manager of city.

City Treasurer shall mean the duly appointed, qualified and acting city treasurer of city.

Constitution shall mean the constitution of the state of California.

Councilman shall mean a member of the city council of city.

County shall mean the county of Los Angeles.

Elections Code shall mean the Elections Code of the state of California as the same exists as of the effective date of this charter, and as the same may hereinafter be amended by lawful authority.

Elective Officers shall mean those officers designated as such by this charter.

Elector shall mean any person who qualifies for the right of suffrage pursuant to article II, section 1 of the constitution of the state.

Former City shall mean the city of Temple City, a general law city, organized and existing as such, prior to the effective date of this charter, and, as to which the city is its successor in interest, by reason of the adoption of this charter.

Mayor shall mean the duly appointed, qualified and acting mayor of city.

Mayor Pro Tempore shall mean the duly appointed, qualified and acting mayor pro tempore of city.

Municipal Affair shall mean those matters which have been, and continue to be, held to be such by courts of record in the state of California.

Person shall mean any person, firm, association, organization, partnership, business, trust company or corporation, and any municipal, political or governmental corporation, district, body or agency, other than the city of Temple City.

Registered Qualified Voter shall mean an elector who is lawfully registered, pursuant to applicable provisions of the Elections Code, and is thus entitled to cast a ballot in any national, state or local election held within the city.

Shall is mandatory.

State shall mean the state of California.

Section 201 . Reference To Laws .

Wherever reference is made in this charter to any law or code provision enacted by the legislature of the state, or to any constitutional provision, said reference shall mean and include any amendment thereto, enacted after the effective date of this charter; provided, however, if any such law is repealed in whole or in part, the city council, by ordinance, may enact provisions, consistent with this charter, covering the substance of such repealed legislation.

Black Panther Answers ‘Overdue’. Civil Rights Commission Chairman Seeks Responses In Voter Intimidation Case. The Chairman of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, Gerald A. Reynolds, has sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder seeking answers to their questions about a voter intimidation case in Philadelphia involving the New Black Panther Party (NBPP). It considers the responses “overdue. “The letter, dated September 30, 2009, is seemingly an unprecedented action. It asks for Mr. Holder to “instruct Department officials to fully cooperate” with the Commission’s investigation, as required by federal law.
The correspondence noted that the Commission still has not received any of the documents they requested in their initial June inquiries. It has questions surrounding the “unusual decision” by the DOJ to dismiss the case against two of the three defendants and the equally unusual injunction obtained against the third defendant.

The communication reminded Mr. Holder that Congress mandates that, “all Federal agencies shall fully cooperate with the Commission to the end that it may effectively carry out its functions and duties.” It wants Mr. Holder to identify the person responsible for complying with the requests.

NAACP Spearheads Prison Vote Drive in Maine. Portland, Maine (AP) – The NAACP is registering voters at prisons in Maine, one of just two states that allow all inmates to vote while behind bars, in what is apparently the nation’s first such statewide drive. The relatively few votes at stake – only a few hundred – mean the drive’s potential to affect outcomes this fall on such issues as gay marriage, marijuana laws and tax limits is low.

Though prison inmates tend to skew to the Democratic side, the drive isn’t about furthering any political agenda, said Rachel Talbot Ross, president of the Portland chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. “It’s about establishing strong voter patterns and becoming a fully functioning person to re-enter society,” Ross said. “It’s part of the rehabilitation and re-entry process.”

Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller, a democrat, told Eric Shawn on FOX News that ACORN was hiring convicts still in prison -CONVICTED OF IDENTITY THEFT- for canvassing voters.
Ross said that by executing a search warrant at ACORN headquarters in Nevada the authorities were able to substantiate charges and have a very solid case against ACORN. They believe they can prove that it’s not just a few bad apples it went much higher up in the organization. Ross believes that ACORN and the regional director should be held accountable for the criminal activity that took place in the state.

Ross told FOX News that they found prisoners on the ACORN payroll:

Ross Miller: Obviously we believed that it went much higher on the food chain. That ACORN had a quota system in place and they were paying individuals this black jack. That encourages voter registration fraud and that is why it is important that we go after them and charge them criminally and try to obtain a conviction. They constantly say we have a bad apple. We have a bad a bad employee like most people do. Clearly that’s not the case. This is an organization that came to Nevada and hired people that were still in prison convicted of identity theft that were on work release programs for canvassing voters.

Eric Shawn: Wait a minute… Hired people that were still in prison?

Ross Miller: Correct. There’s a transitional housing facility, Casa Grande, down there. ACORN approached them. They hired individuals that were still in prison. Some of them were convicted of serious offenses, identity theft. A violation of state law that these inmates should not have had contact with people’s personal information. Those were the individuals that were our canvassing people.

This is not the first time we’ve seen convicts used for canvassing. In 2004 another federally funded far left organization America Coming Together was fined $775,000 in civil penalties after the election. ACT hired dozens of felons some convicted of sex offenses, assault and burglary – to conduct door-to-door voter registration drives in Missouri and other swing states. Seven of the ACT employees lived at Missouri halfway houses and at least four were later returned to prison.

ACORN Videos Prompt More Calls for Investigations Across the Nation

Prosecutors in Brooklyn plan to speak with the filmmaker who taped videos of ACORN workers advising about how to evade tax and housing laws, and will decide whether any criminal charges should be filed against the community organizing group, FOX News learned Thursday.

Investigators for Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes are making plans to speak with Filmmaker James O’Keefe about the undercover tape he and freelance journalist Hannah Giles made at the ACORN Housing office in Brooklyn, one of five videos recorded at ACORN offices around the country. 

Prosecutors with the Rackets Division say they want to review the tapes to determine whether any possible criminal charges may be filed against the workers seen in the tapes giving advice to O’Keefe and Giles, who were posing as a pimp and a prostitute. The two were consulted about how to hide money earned in their prostitution ring and get federal funding with ACORN’s help to buy a house that would serve as their brothel.

At least 20 states are now investigating fraud and potential voting regularities by the taxpayer-backed group. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a state probe of ACORN late Wednesday.

The latest video, released Wednesday on FOX News, appears to show an ACORN worker in San Diego offering to help bring underage girls into the United States to turn tricks. The previous videos show O’Keefe and Giles in various conversations on how to hide their prostitution “ring” involving foreign, underage girls from federal authorities.

The videos released so far — filmed in Baltimore, Washington D.C., Brooklyn, San Diego and San Bernardino, Calif. — have led to the firing of four workers, an investigation by the Brooklyn D.A. and the termination of a nationwide partnership with the Census Bureau to participate in next year’s decennial headcount.

The House on Thursday voted 345-75 to strip all federal funding from ACORN. The Senate on Monday voted overwhelming to block the federal Housing and Urban Development Department from providing funding to the group. 

The White House signed off on the Census Bureau ending its partnership with ACORN, the first sign of evidence that the Obama administration is taking a closer look at ACORN and the federal funding it receives and perhaps beginning to distance itself.

Candidate Barack Obama paid ACORN $800,000 for its voter registration services during the presidential campaign and said at the time that the group could have a seat at the organizing table.

The release of the latest video came on the same day that ACORN announced the launch of an “internal review” to examine all the systems and processes called into question by the videos. In addition, ACORN won’t accept new admissions into its community service programs, effective immediately, and within the next few days will conduct staff training, the group’s chief executive, Bertha Lewis, said in a written statement.

However, Lewis told ABC News that all the negative attention is a “modern day form of McCarthyism” and said ACORN’s efforts help make sure “poor people, young people, minorities are participating in this democracy.”

“There is an undertone of racism here. I think they’re basically saying these people shouldn’t be trusted, how could they be trusted? You know, they’re all poor black and brown people,” Lewis said. 

But any effort to appear constructive may be too late to contain the damage.

On Wednesday Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty ordered his agencies to stop all state funding to ACORN, unless it was illegal to do so. Schwarzenegger also sent a letter to Attorney General Jerry Brown asking his office to look into ACORN’s activities, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. The attorney general’s office will review the videos and investigate or refer the matter to the local district attorney if it is believed there is any wrongdoing, Brown spokesman Scott Gerber said.

ACORN fired back at Minnesota, saying neither it nor its affiliates receive any funding from that state.

A federal investigation might be next.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi signed on to recent calls for investigations into the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, saying Thursday that the advocacy group with a history of legal troubles is ripe for a review.

“Any group needs to have scrutiny that is applied to it,” Pelosi said at her weekly briefing with Capitol Hill reporters. “It is totally unacceptable and inexcusable in my view. Hundreds of people have embarrassed ACORN. We have to have our own investigation. It’s up to the (House) Appropriations Committee to scrutinize them.”

Several Republican senators also are asking the FBI to step in and investigate not just possible criminal activities but also whether ACORN itself is a criminal enterprise.

FBI Director Robert Mueller said Wednesday that he had only recently heard about the ACORN videos but that given the preliminary information, it is the type of thing that the FBI and Justice Department “would look at.”

Republican lawmakers are also urging the Internal Revenue Service to sever ties with group. The IRS partners with ACORN to assist the poor with free tax preparation.

In a written statement, the IRS said it has partnered with hundreds of community and volunteer organizations to provide free tax assistance.

“We are aware of recent events, and we are conducting a thorough review of our relationship with ACORN,” the IRS said.

I watched this happen live today, and yes, my mouth was hanging open in shock. While reporting this afternoon from the floor of the Values Voter Summit, MSNBC reporter Brian Mooar was heckled by several audience members who said he was being rude and disrespectful.

Why are conservatives so damn angry? We have seen this type of behavior before. At teabag rallies, health care townhalls, and of course recently during the President’s speech about health care in the House of Representatives.

Why are they so put-upon and angry with everyone that doesn’t have the same ideology? Does this entitle them to throw out all forms of civility? Believe me, no one was more upset with Bush and his cronies for the last eight years, than I was. Well maybe Code Pink was more angry.

But it would have never crossed my mind to be openly rude to a Republican. I always felt that we could always channel our anger in a constructive way, like social networking, civil protests, rallies, or ultimately in the voting booth.

This episode today was so far out of left field, that MSNBC now reports that Mooar received a personal apology from Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, the organization behind the summit. Perkins also said there would be an announcement made telling the audience to be respectful of the press.

I am pretty sure that this was not the picture that Republican’s wanted to show to the world today. Its a very ugly picture.

The 111th Congress has proven it can’t distinguish priorities from wastes of time. The Democratically-controlled House is spinning in circles, completely outraged that anyone would object to the Messiah’s message. Wilson’s apology to the White House was not enough for them; they voted 240-179 to admonish him. Meanwhile, after both the President and Wilson have made their peace and the nation tackles the gargantuan issue of healthcare reform, Democrats are quietly ignoring the corrupt Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN) and instead honing their ethically-challenged sights on Wilson.

This past week, two conservative activists went undercover in two different ACORN offices on the East Coast. One of them was disguised as a pimp and the other a prostitute. The “pimp” had an undercover camera and caught the whole shocking conversation on tape as ACORN staff tried to help them establish a brothel with foreign, underage girls as the main source of clientele (this is the same organization that doctored up hundreds of thousands of fake voter registrations during the 2008 campaign). Not surprisingly, the Mainstream Media has virtually ignored the ACORN scandal, instead focusing on topics that are vital to the nation’s survival, such as Kanye West’s ignorant outburst at the VMA’s and Kate Gosselin’s change in hairstyles.  

On Capitol Hill, only a couple Democrats have joined the Republicans in initiating a congressional investigation into ACORN’s activities. Had it not been for Hannah Giles (the undercover prostitute), her friend (undercover pimp) and Fox News, the House would most likely not be voting to cut all federal funding to ACORN. The Party of the Common Man…. I  think not.

But liberal Democrats have Rep. Wilson in a chokehold and they’re not going to let him or the issue go. Since the majority of ACORN’s support comes from leftists, the disgusting amount of corruption is nothing in their eyes. The only think intrinsically evil is a conservative objecting to a proven lie*. One representative called Joe Wilson’s actions ”a public offense.” Democrat Hank Johnson of Georgia outrageously claimed, “I guess we’ll probably have folks putting on white hoods again.”

Johnson was not the only liberal to see Wilson’s yell as some how racist. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, along with the Congressional Black Caucus, rebuked Wilson’s remarks as being disrespectful to the nation’s first Black President (this is coming from the crowd that sees virtually all criticism of President Obama as racially motivated). Pretty soon we’ll see Black activists breaking out into what I call “Al Sharpton Syndrome” (ASS) and calling for panels to investigate other possible, perceived racism just as they have done in Cambridge, Massachusetts as a response to the Gates/Cop fiasco. 

On the scale of importance, our leaders see a conservative Republican as more threatening than an organization that is deep in voter fraud and other “illegal activities.” Say anything, ANYTHING against President Obama and be prepared to be equated with clansmen. Truth, facts and statistics don’t matter to the American Left. All that matters are special interests.

Here’s how:

1. Launch http://www.comelec.gov.ph/findprecinct/findprecinct.aspx or

http://www.comelec.gov.ph/ and click “Online precint finder” icon in the middle right section of the page.

2. Key in your full name and date of birth and click “Find” button

3. Check your registration details. Take note of your precint number. If registration status is ‘INACTIVE’ it calls a need to register to vote in your nearest COMELEC offices in your barangays.
