One brand of blogs that range from free to enterprise network blog engines is from Six Apart. Their engines are worth a look especially if you are looking for an alternative to WordPress.com or wordpress.org. Tweet twin Partner Kevin Andreassend maintains a Vox blog site from the Six Apart developers. It is a free site and has some interesting and unique features.

Endlich 18, die KuH wird volljährig! Nachdem Körber und Hammes die Technik besiegt und ihr Reich vorm Mikrofon wieder einnehmen konnten, steht Episode 18 ganz im Zeichen einer bestimmten Person: Thomas G. Hornauer. Dem ein oder anderen KuH-Hörer sicherlich schon längst ein Begriff, weiß der schwäbische Fernsehmacher immer wieder von sich Reden zu machen und wurde vor allem durch seinen Sender Kanal Telemedial bekannt.

A clarification.
 
I wasn’t describing people who play computer games as “utter sad twats” in the blog last week – it was aimed at those who queued at midnight when the new ‘Call of Duty’ game was released in the shops.
 
Couldn’t you wait until lunchtime the next day? Or the next week? Or wait to get it as a Christmas present? Did you really have to have it there and then, race home and get playing at 1am in the morning?
 
Well it appears that many people did. I personally find that extremely sad – just my opinion.

So how was Dr Who for you then?
 
I think the ‘Waters of Mars’ special on Sunday was one of the best since the show returned in 2005. They could, perhaps, have trimmed it down to 50 minutes to make it tighter but that would be the only tiny criticism.
 
I was sat on my sofa transfixed by a thrilling plot and cracking dialogue, not knowing how they’d get to the end and set up David Tennant’s final two shows.
 
It was a real shock to the system when The Doctor turned into a megalomaniac which certainly didn’t sit comfortably with how he’d operated before. I thought Adelaide was going to shoot him. Then it twisted back again as she killed herself and Tennant produced a couple of minutes of inspired acting, facing the Ood, fearing his song was going to end there and then.
 
I like Dr Who because it combines drama, comedy, emotion, underlying subtexts, plot arcs which stretch over different series, subtle nods to the past and there is that quintessentially English feel about it.
 
You can probably tell that I’m quite looking forward to the Christmas and New Year episodes…

Thanks to everyone for their feedback about the blog last week especially with regard to ‘The Sperminator’ aka the shag-happy Telford internet love-rat. Most people agreed with my assertion that while he was obviously a reckless twat, the gullible women involved also lacked responsibility.
 
The Princess Diana joke raised an eyebrow or two (come on, it’s 12 years since she died, let’s get over it, none of us knew her personally…) and this was my favourite message: “Bad taste about Diana – but I nearly pissed myself laughing.”

Vendredi dernier, je me suis rendu au Club Soda, juste avant le début du spectacle d’Antoine Gratton pour faire un vox-pop. Je sais pas c’est qui ce gars là, mais son auditoire est composé à 75% de filles, et 25% de gars qui suivent leurs blonde. Y doit être bon, c’est surement ça. Antoine Gratton était là pour Coup de Coeur francophone et j’y était pour Urbania. Quand j’ai entendu “Coup de coeur francophone”, tel un élève de secondaire 3 dans un cours de français, j’ai analysé le thème de la chose. J’en ai parler à Kristia(Coordo) et après une laborieuse délibération, ont est venues à la conclusion que c’était le français.

Donc on a fait un vox-pop super français, avec bérêts, gavrotte, bouteille de rouge, baguette de pain, tailleur et gilet de petit marin.

Je dois admettre que ça été plus difficile que prévus. Pas de trouvé les participants, mais bien de s’installer! On avait un rectangle d’à peu près 1 mètre par 2 mètres pour installer un background, du monde qui se font prendre en photo, l’éclairage et moi. Well. Finalement, on en est sortis vivant et ça même très bien été! Les gens ont été très participatifs, autant plus jeunes que moins jeunes.

This series includes: ‘Beyond the Deepwoods’, ‘Stormchaser’, ‘Midnight over Sanctaphrax’, ‘The Curse of Gloamglozer’, ‘The Last of the Sky Pirates’, ‘Vox’, ‘Freeglader’, ‘The Winter Knights’, and ‘Clash of the Sky Galleons’.

It is a good series of books. You should read them. I’m on book 6 ‘Vox’.

I have seen many brothers being very protective for their Sisters, Girlfriends. If someone calls them Cute or hot then they feel very bad and are even ready for a fight.

My fiancée works out of her home. We’ve spent the evening brainstorming on ideas for her work and designing her websites. She has a few sites, Twitter accounts, a Vox blog, etc. We are looking at the best ways to market yourself online. There are vast resources on the web but wading through it all can be overwhelming.
Looking at websites selling similar products and services can give you some wonderful ideas. I prefer clean designs with simple straight forward navigation. One pitfall I’ve encountered in the past was trying to include too much which added up to a workload to great to sustain on a regular basis.
Everything is shaping up well and we will be sure to include links to her various sites once they are up and running.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ))

I think my favourite tabloid phrase in that is: laptop lust hunter.
 
Having been in the Sunday papers myself – I was ‘romantically linked’ with the girlfriend of a football manager back in 2001, it made the front page of the Sunday People and was in the NOTW and others, I may tell you the full story one day if the lawyers allow – I never believe every cough and splutter of these stories.
 
I bet he hasn’t really impregnated twelve women but clearly he is a bit of a lad. As someone who doesn’t like hypocrites, I must be honest that there have been occasions when I was much younger where I may have spun a line to impress a woman. Now I just say what I think and people have to like it or lump it.
 
There’s part of me who salutes the cheek of this bloke (what they saw in him, I don’t know) although cheating in relationships is reprehensible.
 
However, these gullible women have to take some responsibility. If they’d shown a bit more respect for themselves – keeping their legs shut or insisting he wore a condom etc – then they would have less to complain about.
 
One of the girls who went to the newspaper with the story is a Facebook friend of mine. I know her because she comes into Pussycats. I doubt she’ll be in for a while in her state – although there are plenty of women around Telford who look like they might be pregnant.

We had another wonderfully busy weekend at Pussycats. I was thrilled that Phil, my best mate (in the world… ever!), popped into Cats after work on Saturday. He’s never been to Telford to see me DJ (it’ll be seven years next April since I started) because he’s also a DJ and, being very good at his job, is always in demand.
 
He was spinning the tunes in Vox Bar in the town centre last Saturday and absolutely loved it. You really should go and check him out – before heading to Cats afterwards, obviously! Welcome to the team, Phil. I hope the customers and management appreciate him as much as I do.

Notice of an event at Pussycats – on Friday 20th November we’ll be raising money for Children In Need with a themed night called: “Sexy Pajama Party.”
 
That is not a spelling mistake from me. Obviously it should be ‘pyjama’ as we’re English and not American but the man at the helm of our slick PR machine (who I mustn’t name because I’ll get untold grief) says it was a deliberate cock-up “to attract attention.”
 
I did point out to him that, judging by Facebook, most people in Telford can’t spell anyway.

Benidorm has completed its run and every single hour-long episode was sheer brilliance. Whether they can manufacture another series looks unlikely but you never know.
 
I loved it last weekend when Madge was being ferried about in the back of the vehicle, just as the Pope would, with Gregorian chanting on the show’s soundtrack, and the local Catholics started waving and worshipping… Madge, smoking a fag, flicked them the V-sign.
 
Much funnier to see than for me to try and explain. Yes, you had to be there. Sort of.
 
The best visual gag of the whole series for me was in the first episode where Mel was promoting a mobility scooter for people with, erm, a tendency to poo at the wrong time. The advert on the back was this:

I’m probably the last person to stick up for Gordon Brown but he’s had a lot of unfair criticism this week about an error he made in a letter to the mother of a soldier killed in action. Yes, it’s extremely sad when anyone dies in the line of armed duty and we all have great sympathy for parents who lose their children but if I’d lost someone, I’d have bigger things to worry about than a slight grammatical error.
 
Let’s retain a sense of perspective.
 
He took the time to send a handwritten letter to a bereaved mother. She went to the papers to complain and he apologised. He might be an utter useless gimp for everything else but to clout him with a big stick over this is just unnecessary.

Für unsere Reportage sind wir auf der Suche nach Menschen, die Opfer von Online-Mobbing geworden sind bzw. es aktuell noch sind.
Die Betroffene können sich direkt bei mir melden, wenn sie mir ihre individuelle Geschichte erzählen möchten – ganz unverbindlich (per E-Mail oder auch telefonisch, Kontaktdaten s.u.).
Ziel unserer Reportage ist es, das Thema “Online-Mobbing” einer größeren Öffentlichkeit vorzustellen. Betroffene, die ihre Erfahrungen vor der Kamera schildern, können dazu beitragen, daß die Menschen in Zukunft aufmerksamer sind, was das Thema Online-Mobbing angeht. Weitere Fälle von Online-Mobbing können in der Allgemeinheit so viel besser vermieden werden.
Selbstverständlich werden alle Kontakte von uns sehr vertraulich behandelt. Auch eine anonyme Kontaktaufnahme der Betroffenen ist möglich.

Key Club

The Key Club is running a Trick or Treat UNICEF fundraiser from the end of September to the end of December. UNICEF organization is The United Nation’s Children Fund; it was founded by the United Nations General Assembly in 1946. It was originally established to help provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. Now UNICEF collects money for disasters all over the world, such as the tsunami in Samoa or the earthquake in Indonesia. Key club student, Regenel Anastacio said, “I want to help out the community, and do more than just be a student.”

Mikka Yamamoto said, “A lot of people out there need my help, and I want to be able to serve them. I hope to be able to touch the lives of others through community service.” The Key Club meets every Monday at lunch under the guidance of president, Jennifer Tu, and advisor Mr. Vinski in room 14.

Vox Populi

If you are interested in human rights, join Vox Populi. This is a brand new club campaigns and writes letters to show support for causes they feel are unfair. The club is under the guidance of president Catherine Tadina and vice-president, Erika Porcuna. The advisor is Mrs. Gron and they meet in room 17 every Tuesday at lunch. They are currently getting together and deciding what to fundraise for.

Ecology Club

The ecology club introduces students to California state and national parks and teaches students the benefits of recycling. They also have a garden they maintain and cultivate that helps them explore the local ecosystem. The club is under guidance of president Shannon Keach and the advisor Mr. Jordan. The club meets in his room (room 43) on Tuesdays at lunch.
