In 2006, then Senator Barak Obama stated that ”Whatever we once were, we’re no longer a Christian nation.” He went on to say that “we’re a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a nation of unbelievers.”

This was an insult to the memory of all previous generations of Americans who were veterans, businessmen, factory workers, farm hands, Mothers, Fathers, white collar, blue collar, black tie, barefoot, industrialist, Founder — anyone who worked hard to do what’s right for themselves and those around them, to do what’s right for this country of ours, for America.

Declaring the end to the Judeo-Christian influence in this country in 2006 and again Barack Obama speaking* recently in Turkey, April, 2009, “We do not consider ourselves a Christian Nation.”

He then dares to flippantly identify the Christian right as THE problem:

“Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it’s because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who’ve been all too eager to exploit what divides us.” (Source)

This is not only incorrect, but a blatant lie.  And those who are ignorant of the possibility of him ever making an error are unaware of the truth of anything.  Principle absent human compassion is nothing more than intellectual masturbation and Obama has his hand on it.

“[I]t is obvious that this is Obama’s way of ingratiating himself with Muslim audiences. But whatever his immediate goal, his sentiment is a popular one with Americans that sport left-wing, anti-religious ideology, people who look to Obama as their leader.” 

But is it true?  Did the Founding Fathers base this country on the Christian ethic or not?  When one reads the historical record, not the revised secular edition, it is apparent and indeed a resounding YES.  It is also quite clear that we are so very far off course from that original grounding.

As Ronald Reagan reminded us in 1988: “The First Continental Congress made its first act a prayer — the beginning of a great tradition. We have then, a lesson from the founders of our land, those giants of soul and intellect whose courageous pledge of life and fortune and sacred honor, and whose ‘firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence,’ have ever guided and inspired Americans and all who would fan freedom’s mighty flames and live in ‘freedom’s holy light.’ That lesson is clear: That in the winning of freedom and in the living of life, the first step is prayer.” Reagan was ever so right to guide us toward an understanding that the Founders of this country nearly to a man were steeped in religion — and that of the Protestant, Christian variety, at that. Even the ones against organized religion believed in a God, one that put us here and gave us certain rights as espoused in the Declaration of Independence from Britain. (Source)

But let us not use just the Declaration, as the Constitution is supreme law that guides this country [emphasis mine and throughout]. We must strive to remain strict constructionists of that document and hew closely to what the founder’s intended in all their wisdom. It is well considered proper, then, that we look to what the Founders and their contemporaries wrote to construe what they “meant” concerning the principles and ethics to which they hoped we’d remain forever faithful.

Let us begin with a quote from James Madison, the Father of the Constitution. “The belief in a God All Powerful wise and good, is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities impressed with it.” That sounds rather ominous, does it not? Of course Madison means that Christian concept of morality that he learned from the Anglican Church which was a required state religion in his home state, Virginia when he was a child.

Another stalwart driving force of the revolutionary days was Samuel Adams who, echoing James Madison’s idea, said, “Liberty will not long survive the total extinction of morals.”

George Washington who can be quoted bestowing Christian religious principles on many of his thoughts and actions he took on the battlefield and in government is very quotable on the subject. Here are a few quotes from the Father of our country.

• “Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles.”
• “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”
• “And now, Almighty Father, if it is Thy holy will that we shall obtain a place and name among the nations of the earth, grant that we may be enabled to show our gratitude for Thy goodness by our endeavors to fear and obey Thee.”

Pretty straight forward, I believe.

How about Ben Franklin? Old Poor Richard himself was never considered the biggest religious fanatic of his day. In fact he is one of the few Founders that actually considered himself a Deist. But even he once said, “It is the duty of mankind on all suitable occasions to acknowledge their dependence on the Divine being.” Hardly sounds like he was against the morality of Christian ethics, does it?

John Adams, second president and indispensable founding father who was well known to be extremely pious both in religion and opinion said, “Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak; and that it is doing God’s service, when it is violating all His laws.”

He sure did not say Allah’s service. Nor did he couple God and THEY. Adams said HIS laws. An obvious recognition of the Christian God of heaven and earth.

These quotes are all well and good but what did the early American theorists intend to pass on to the youth of America? As an answer to this I point to Benjamin Rush of Pennsylvania. Rush was a respected Doctor and was closely tied to most of the great figures of the early Republic and its national politics. He wrote, “I proceed…to enquire what mode of education we shall adopt so as to secure to the state all the advantages that are to be derived from the proper instruction of youth; and here I beg leave to remark, that the only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments.”

Well, we could quote dozens upon dozens of such phrases from men like Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Henry Lee, George Clinton and a host of other revolutionary notables but that would tend to over burden the point.

Speaking of Thomas Jefferson, as a riposte to Christians, many half-informed secularists claim that Jefferson was a Deist that hated Christianity. But this is garbled history. Like many of the Founders, Jefferson disliked organized religion but was not in any way against religious sentiment, training and ideals. In fact, the older he got, the more religious he became. But even as our third president he regularly attended Bible class right in the halls of Congress and never once scolded the classes from meeting on federal property. He was not against Christianity in government at all.*

The point is that the men of the revolution, those very men that created our country, its mores and conventions based their ruminations upon the Christian God and his ethics and principles. They felt this base to be entirely indispensable to the stability of republican government. They warned that to dispense with them would be our undoing and we followed those predications faithfully up until the civil war and half heartedly until the presidency of FDR.

But today, civil Libertarians strive to remake the U.S.A. into a Godless and moraless society based upon an if-it-feels-right mode of thinking. The Democrat Party tries to replace religion with statism and socialism. Even Republicans all too often shy away from the question of the religious ethics of Christianity as if it is a backward ideal that would best be forgotten.

No, Benjamin Rush had it right when he said that without religion “… there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments.”

Whether critics and secularists like it or not, we are at heart a Christian nation and if we cast off that ethic we will no longer be the United States, we will no longer have in us what made us great.

Do you ever wake up with a “To Do” list building in your head so that your brain literally feels like a construction site- your appointments exploding like  jackhammers, errands churning away like a 6 a.m cement truck, your half completed assignment jeering at you like a row of sexually deprived and shamelessly vocal construction workers begging for your attention- all your commitments stacking upon each other until your day looks like a teetering tower of obligations?

Or maybe you’ve woken up before the climax of an unfinished fantasy totally bummed that the dream wasn’t really real and groaning at the thought of another 17 hour of “reality” before you can sleep again. Or worse, have you dreamed about the very thing you spent 17 waking hours worrying about, so that not even sleep brought relief?

Yeah, been there.

What keeps you from waking up feeling amazing and grateful?

I woke up feeling amazing and grateful the other morning. Not that it was the first time in my life, or an unusual experience for me. I thought again about how simple gratitude is, and how something so simple has the power to alter our day.

What keeps us from waking up feeling amazing and grateful every day? Are we addicted to suffering? Or has suffering become “the status quo” so that we don’t even identify it as “suffering?” After all, most of us wake up to bad news on the television or the paper. Bad news is like the breakfast of choice.

I like to ask these questions, and I’m not trying to change any of it. I’d just like to share what I find beautiful and amazing, what I’m grateful for in all the wonderful chaos.

Today is Thanksgiving day. I couldn’t imagine a better day to begin!

The Government mammogram Nazi (think uber-evil and powerful Seinfeld Soup Nazi) has decided that “older” women over 40 (ahem!) with no history of breast cancer don’t deserve the lifesaving detection of a biennial mammogram scan and won’t pay for one until they are 50.  Besides the fact that this is utter rubbish, how would they know there was no history sans scan? 

Considering I love all things that turn the tables back onto liberals (using their own playbook against them), here’s a great vid from Beck interviewing David Horowitz  discussing conservatives using Saul Alinsky tactics to get their message out:  Inverting the paradigm….doing what liberals do….Community Organizing. Mr. Horowitz calls for women to do what libs did during the Reagan years that so upset the White House then:  stage a “die in”.  All over the country, in public places (with proper signage of course and white chalk for outlines of the “bodies”), gather in large groups, lay down and become the dead from lack of mammograms.  David says Liberals will be as bewildered as to what to do as we were in the past.

OKAY LADIES… Let’s get our communities organized!  This is your call to arms — er, uh — backs?

De Moines Iowa 21 Bloody Deaths

DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa has officially recorded 21 H1N1 deaths, including seven in Polk County alone. But the county’s medical examiner said he has performed autopsies on some residents who were never diagnosed with H1N1, but actually had it.

“In the autopsy, what we’re seeing is very heavy, wet hemorrhagic lungs, lungs with a lot of blood in them,” said Dr. Gregory Schmunk.He said the official count of seven H1N1 deaths is inaccurate, but patient rights laws prohibit him from giving specific numbers.

He said there are two reasons for the discrepancy.
First, not all sick patients get tests and second, the virus is difficult to detect. Some patients may be too sick to receive the most accurate H1N1 test.”They’re not always done and it can be hazardous to the patient if they’re in a respiratory critical situation,” Schmunk said.

He also said that some tests reveal a false negative.”Because of our limitations on testing, sometimes the tests aren’t positive,” he said. “They do appear to fit clinically the course of a H1N1 viral-type pneumonia.”He said the cases he’s seen in Polk County were all middle-aged adults with a few underlying health conditions.”These may be the patients that are obese,” Schmunk said. “Obesity restricts your ability to breathe and clear the virus from your upper respiratory.”He also said that some of the patients had diabetes.

Schmunk said his urging people to get the vaccine.”The thing that concerns me the most is, you still have people out there they believe that if I get the vaccine, the shot, then I’m going to get the flu,” he said. “You can’t get the flu from the shot.”

He said that in the meantime, remember to wash your hands, sneeze into your sleeve and stay home if you’re sick. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said one person who goes to work sick with the virus will infect 10 percent of his or her co-workers.

I would like to know What the Hell is happening and HOW it is happening! I am getting pretty Pissed Off now! WHO, CDC, And the Governments of the World have GOT to come out with the TRUTH! Well last night I slept for more than two consecutive hours! Miracle of all miracles it happened. I was very apprehensive going to bed, but, I did, and I slept good for about 3 hours, until I saw the sun. I laid in bed for a few minutes and the phone rang. It was a wonderful “wake up call” and those are my favorites.

This morning I am feeling much better than I did yesterday. I have a load of things to do before our trip and I need to buckle down and get some things accomplished. Since I want to keep this feeling good mood, I am going to keep on some upbeat music, including but not limited to Nina Simone’s Feeling Good.

Michael Buble did this song and that is the version you hear played most often. I first heard Nina’s version about ten years ago and I really just fell into sync with it. Michael’s version is ok, but when I need some really good feeling good vibes, I go for Nina.

Lagunatic piles the kids into the car to take Julian to pre-school. It’s dank and foggy out. My ever-so-slight hang-over is making me want to jump through the speakers and slap the talk out of the morning radio show hosts so I decide to choose life and put on some soft rythmic Putumayo jams . Julian is, obviously, wearing his Spider Man sunglasses and, after about four minutes, nods off to snooze-ville.

It takes almost thirty minutes to make the drive so he was happily saving Gotham in dream-land by the time we arrived. I began attempting to wake him just before we entered the parking lot:

It’s now almost 5:30 a.m., and I’ve been up for two hours.

This sort of thing happens to me more often since I’ve been unemployed.

For one thing, I used to wake up in the middle of the night totally stressed out over my future (or my present).

For another, since I now don’t have to go to work in the morning, it’s far too easy to stay up if I wake up in the middle of the night — and start watching TV, surfing the Internet for jobs, playing on Facebook, or writing a blog post.

However, there’s a job fair starting at 11 a.m. this morning on the other side of town. I’d like to be reasonably alert for it, so I need to go back to sleep for a few hours.

I have no idea how to cure insomnia. It seems to be a vicious cycle: You can’t sleep because you’re worried, and you worry because you can’t sleep.

The shameful decision to try the 9/11 terrorists in civil court is a travesty of justice.  The penury of prudence would be malpractice in any other field and should be barred from civilian courts.  How would these animals obtain a jury of their peers within a 50 mile range of New York City?  And if enough Muslim men could be sought, how could they be expected to abnegate their theology and ideology for the length of the trial so as not to be impartial?  Either way, justice is not served and the United States is put on trial with our military secrets out on the table for our enemies to see.  Thank you, Messrs President and Attorney General.

The deadliest virus: Political correctness

‘You see, Pinocchio,” said the Blue Fairy, “a lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as plain as the nose on your face.”

Sadly, this simple lesson, once taught only to small children, must be taught again to “grown-ups” who have conditioned our culture, our politicians and even our armed forces to deny and ignore the grave threats we face. But today the lies are called “political correctness,” and the consequences can be death.

Far more dangerous than Maj. Nidal Hasan’s heinous act at Fort Hood is our collective refusal to see it for what it is: a terrorist act inspired by radical Islam. Radical Islam is made more dangerous because political correctness has conditioned us not to identify it as the source of terrorism.

Like so much else delivered to us by the self-anointed virtuous class, the political correctness that would make us a “fairer” and more “open-minded” society now has us on our knees. We have so successfully shut down our body politic’s immune system that any foreign agent — in this case, radical Islam — is free, even encouraged, to run wild in our defenseless society. Even lost lives don’t slow the virulent PC virus.

By turning Hasan into a victim, a “soldier who snapped,” terrorism’s unwitting domestic enablers denied the real danger. Sadly, the Fort Hood terror attack shows that no institution is more severely compromised by the autoimmune shutdown than the U.S. Army itself.

Gen. George Casey, chief of staff of the Army, has mouthed the pieties of denial so convincingly and so repeatedly as to expose himself as perhaps being terminally infected. The Army’s culture is now so compromised that soldiers are conditioned to be more fearful of accusations of “Islamophobia” than of radical Islam. When the general’s first public reaction to the terrorist attack was to circle the wagons around “diversity,” can anyone blame them?

Ironically, Hasan was fast-tracked through the Army because of his radical beliefs. Authorities knew far more about Hasan before he struck than they currently know about many of the Sept. 11 hijackers. Yet the more open he was about his extremist beliefs, the more rapidly he advanced. It usually takes 10 years to make major in the Army. Hasan made it in six. Since there is no evidence that Hasan was a military genius, what, other than his stridently public embrace of radical Islam, served to distinguish him for such rapid advancement?

The real shock of Hasan’s terror attack was that so many seemed shocked it occurred. It was not the first domestic terrorist assault against a U.S. Army installation since Sept. 11, 2001. It was the eighth.

What Casey’s utter oblivion makes clear is that the United States Army, at least under his command, cannot be permitted to supervise the coming investigation. Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) must not permit his call for an empowered congressional investigation to be pre-empted by any Army request to lead it.

Transparency must not be prevented from prevailing over hollow calls for tolerance. If the Fort Hood massacre proved anything, it is that tolerating intolerance ensures the end of tolerance.

The Scapegoat Syndrome

A familiar pattern emerges after every treacherous assault on this country. The surprise attack is dissected not just to learn who wreaked all the havoc, but who was responsible for missing the clues that it was coming. It happened after Pearl Harbor, when Americans wanted to know why it took so long to get the warning to Hawaii, particularly because our people in Washington knew an attack was likely, having broken the Japanese diplomatic code. Why, on that Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, were our aircraft lined up wingtip to wingtip at Hickam Field just waiting to be taken out by Japanese dive-bombers and fighters? It had to be a conspiracy!

A sleeping Laguanitc is slowly awaken by the following:

Time to get an education and for Washington to get their noses out of their derrierers!  Jihadist action in America and our military is more dangerous than even Washington realizes as they are captive to political correctness regarding Muslim prisoners (e.g. giving them toothbrushes to be turned into shanks, uncuffing them for prayers, etc.).

It became evidently almost immediately that the mass murderer in yesterday’s killing spree at Fort Hood was a Muslim who was motivated by jihadist impulses.

Nidal Malik Hasan had told fellow soldiers that the Muslim who killed two recruiters last summer in Little Rock, Arkansas had done the right thing. He spoke openly of his belief that the Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq should rise up and fight the aggressor, by which he meant the U.S. military of which he inexplicably was a part.

He wrote blog entries urging jihad, entries which six months ago attracted the attention of the FBI. Bizarrely, its investigation was closed, he was allowed to continue serving in the military, and as a result, 11 innocent soldiers are now dead, cut down in cold blood on one of their own bases on U.S. soil.

It is time, I suggest, to stop the practice of allowing Muslims to serve in the U.S. military. The reason is simple: the more devout a Muslim is, the more of a threat he is to national security. Devout Muslims, who accept the teachings of the Prophet as divinely inspired, believe it is their duty to kill infidels. Yesterday’s massacre is living proof. And yesterday’s incident is not the first fragging incident involving a Muslim taking out his fellow U.S. soldiers.

Of course, most U.S. Muslims don’t shoot up their fellow soldiers. Fine. As soon as Muslims give us a foolproof way to identify their jihadis from their moderates, we’ll go back to allowing them to serve. You tell us who the ones are that we have to worry about, prove you’re right, and Muslims can once again serve. Until that day comes, we simply cannot afford the risk. You invent a jihadi-detector that works every time it’s used, and we’ll welcome you back with open arms.

This is not Islamophobia, it is Islamo-realism.

And don’t give us reassurances about the oaths that Muslim soldiers take to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Hasan took that oath, and it proved meaningless. In fact, the more devout a Muslim is, the more likely he is to lie to you through his teeth, since lying to the infidel to advance the cause of Islam is commended, not just permitted, in the Koran.

It’s time we all got over the nonsense that all cultures and religions are equally valid or worthy. They most certainly are not. While Christianity is a religion of peace, founded by the Prince of Peace, Islam is a religion of war and violence, founded by a man who routinely chopped the heads off his enemies, had sex with nine-year old girls, and made his wealth plundering merchant caravans.

And just as Christians are taught to imitate the life of Christ, so Muslims are taught to imitate the Prophet in all things. Yesterday, Nidal Malik Hasan was simply being a good Muslim.

The military is not about social engineering or diversity or multiculturalism or about proving what open-minded people we are. It’s about being ready to break things and kill people so that Americans can sleep securely in their beds at night. The mission is too important to be compromised by enlisting possible jihadi warriors and giving them the weapons and training to gun down our own soldiers and paying them all the while.

Why Is It That Even Accurate Commentary About Islam Seems To Involve A Disclaimer?

O’Reilly and Skinner are in total agreement that they disavow Reverend Pat Robertson’s thesis that “Islam is a violent political system bent on the overthrow of the governments of the world.”

O’Reilly poses the following inquiry to Ms. Skinner:

“So Jane: Does that do any good for America, or for anybody, slamming Islam like that?”

“Certainly not”, she replies.

Even Rich Lowry, in an otherwise excellent post in the National Review Online (The PTSD Evasion) makes the argument that

“Obviously, Hasan isn’t a representative American Muslim, nor is his act an indictment of Muslims in the military. We can acknowledge both those things without laboring to obscure the nature of his crime in childish evasions.”

Far be it from me to dispute the efficacy of those types of statements: It’s not like I know a lot of guys down at the local Mosque and hang out with them when their prayers are done for the day.

But it is awful tough to believe a religion whose stated goal is to destroy or enslave anyone who is a non-believer is capable of putting out a lot of devout followers who want to co-exist peacefully with the rest of us.

There might be a couple, or even 10 or 20, or for that matter, more than 2,000. I wish them well and salute their bravery.

But to think that “most” Muslims don’t subscribe to the deadly theology that its Imams and seers and Mullahs advocate is to be, well… a tad naive.

That the American president would go out of his way to coddle, praise, stroke, and conciliate such a political party?

But if you call such a political movement a “religion” and say that its tenets were given it by its God, then you’ll be free to infilitrate, subvert, and attack our American way of life, again and again and again.

There was no madness at Fort Hood. That was just the worldwide jihad in action. [emphasis mine]

The madness is in Washington.

It is past time to recognize that whether or not you want to be at war with the jihad, the jihad is at war with you.

Ate so much grease over the weekend, now I’m sick.  Fried eggs, sausage and beignets for breakfast.  Night before, chicken and dumplings (I made the dumplings because I couldn’t even look at the chicken) and for dessert blueberry milkshakes.  What I’m looking to say is, at my dad’s, I eat very well– and then back here I pay for it.

Sick as hell.  Had no problem waking up at six am because my stomach’s trying to make the rest of me miserable.  As is my cat, spent all night chewing on my feet.  Owwie.

I’ve been some kind of idiot lately– in a clumsy sort of way, I’ve been running into everything.  I’m completely covered in bruises, some that I don’t even remember how I got.   Lost my usually enormous appetite, I think from memories of all of the good food I had over the weekend.

I would kill to have some of my dad’s leftovers.  Yummers.

School.  Ew.  No thanks.  I really don’t want to go, but recently I’ve been missing a lot, and I do kind of want to go to the recruitment concert, because we get to stand around a group of little people and blow music at their faces.

Ah, well, y’know what is no one really says, but probably should because it’s generally good advice:
