In the insect world things are often not what they seem, especially if you’re a hungry predator. For 250 million years, insects have survived because they often appear to be something other than what they really are. Is it a bug, a twig, or a leaf? P me envía muestras de papel para el montaje: las acuarelas en sus marcos sobre un wallpaper de diseño medio mareante. Me gusta… Todo flota en un mar de huiros, aunque con aire europeo. Podemos habilitar un par de paneles grandes con volumen y forrarlos con papel, los muros en un gris cálido. Voy a Cómodo, tienda design de unos jóvenes que vienen de la Diego Portales, me atienden unas chicas muy amables, aparece Christian que me saluda afectuosamente, y me sumerjo en los catálogos. Fabulosos. Son diseños alemanes, con precios alemanes, pero creo que vale la pena intentarlo. Recurriré nuevamente a la Fundación Tejeda. Hago una preselección, necesitaré ayuda para decidir. Empiezo a ver claro el montaje.

O famoso e lindo papel de parede padrão do Windows XP é uma foto de uma colina na Califórnia, do fotógrafo Charles O’Rear, entitulada Bliss (Felicidade). A Microsoft comprou os dreitos de utilização da imagem para associar sua marca com algo “verde”.

2 anos atrás foi tirado uma foto no mesmo local da famosa imagem, na masme colina, na Califórnia. A diferença é surpreendendte.

And since I’m happy let me share this coffee cup adventures wallpaper.

We are officially homeowners!! On Friday, we bought our first (and hopefully our last…) house in Green Valley, the same neighborhood I grew up in (and where my parents still live, just down the street from us). We are so excited!

We have spent nearly every waking moment since Friday morning over at the house working, working, working. All this work has made three things very clear:

1) Wallpaper is NEVER a good idea. Period.

2) Menards is our new hangout–or, as Charlie says, our new creditor.

3) You can never have too many band-aids on hand when renovating a house.

I’m taking pictures as we go and hope to have some befores and afters in the next week or so…

As an amateur photographer, I like to have a nice image as my desktop wallpaper to provide me with some inspiration throughout the day. Thanks to a post on freewaregenius, I just discovered that National Graphic magazine makes a huge selection of inspiring images available for desktop wallpaper use for free.

You can get National Geographic wallpapers from two locations. The first is in the main photography section of the site. Wallpapers here are handily categorized (Adventure & Exploration,  Nature & Weather, Underwater, etc). Unfortunately, the images available in this section are only a maximum of 1280 pixels wide, which isn’t big enough for many of today’s monitors, although they should be fine on most laptops.

Fortunately, you can also use images submitted to National Geographic’s International Photography Competition, and these are available in larger sizes (up to 1600 pixels wide). These photos aren’t categorized — you need to browse by month, but flicking through the range of beautiful images isn’t much of a chore. I currently have this image of melting ice set as my desktop background.

If you’re still looking for more images, another great location to try is Flickr’s Explore page, which always has a huge selection of interesting and inspiring pictures.

Where do you get wallpaper images from?

Lately, I keep encountering flocked Victorian velvet wallpaper in modern settings. As I prepare for the next phase of my life where I will actually own a home and put extreme careful detail into every design decision, I find myself questioning: What rooms are best for such decadent wallpaper? And what colors and fleurs de lis shall I entertain? And how amazing is combining the Victorian era with the modern?

I will have to include a Peter Shire Prince Charles Chair!
