Kann die Kerstin näht! eigentlich nur noch Blödsinn nähen? Hat die nicht auch schon mal Klamotten für ihre Tochter genäht?

Doch, doch! Kerstin näht! kann auch noch Klamotten nähen! Und sie hat es auch endlich mal wieder getan!

Eigentlich stand mein Entschluß in diesem Sommer fest: Für dieses Jahr wollte ich keine Anziehsachen mehr für Sina nähen, da der ganze Kleiderschrank mehr als voll war und ist. Doch irgendwann kam mir dann doch in den Sinn eine Hose für Sina zu nähen…damit frau nicht aus der Übung kommt.

Am Wochenende habe ich dann in Venlo neben Basicstoffen auch schwarzen Cord gekauft und aus diesem Cord sollte eine Wanda werden. Aber eine ganz Schlichte, ohne viel Schnick und ohne viel Schnack.

Nach dieser Wanda, und jener Wanda nun also diese hier:

Das Schnittmuster habe ich “leicht” verändert. Die Hose hat oben die Größe 98/104 und unten eher eine Länge von 110/116. Ich habe bis auf die Hinterhosenpassen auf jegliche Einsätze verzichtet, auch die Klappen hinten an der Hose und die Abnäher vorne an der Hose habe ich weggelassen. Den Schlag habe ich etwas entschärft und auch etwas aus der Weite im oberen Bereich herausgenommen. Nach oben hin habe ich die Hose ein wenig verlängert, damit sie nicht ganz so tief sitzt.

Die Hose von hinten:

 An den Gesäßtaschen habe ich dann doch noch einen Zierstich verwendet.

Ob sie nun passt oder nicht, stellt sich erst heute mittag heraus. Die kleine Dame des Hauses befindet sich z.Zt. im Kindergarten!

So gesehen war die Hose auch die erste Anziehsache, die ich mit der “neuen” Maschine genäht habe. Und…im Vergleich zu der anderen, die ich eher mit einem Traktor vergleichen würde, ist die Neue eher etwas für eine Sonntagsspazierfahrt. Bei drei Lagen dünnem Cord hat sie doch schon recht oft gemeckert gepiepst und auch eine Jeans-Nadel brachte da keine Abhilfe. Über Overlock-Nähte möchte sie auch nicht so gerne nähen. Irgendwann werde ich wohl doch noch mal die alte Maschine nachschauen und ggf. reparieren lassen.

(Dass das Handrad meiner Overlock bald mal wieder abfliegt ist nur noch eine Frage der Zeit. Ich bleibe aber gelassen und überhöre dieses seltsame Geräusch…)

This post is not intended to join the long and ever growing list of critics of Tyler Perry.  However, it is time to weigh in on the issue of the character he has made a part of the sub-culture. While, I have never seen a Madea movie, I continue to support and thoroughly enjoy his movies like Why Did I Get Married and The Family That Preys.  I could never get past long held beliefs that there was no need for us as a people to continue along the path that others have carved for us.

Nearly 40 years ago, the great Flip Wilson, gave the world Geraldine, a character for which he dressed up as a loud mouth, tell it like it is, black woman. Since that time, we have seen Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Martin Lawrence and Jamie Foxx all play the role of women.  Now enters Madea. 

It is important to point out that while much of the criticism of Tyler Perry appears to be motivated by jealousy and even some envy. There must be room in our community for lawful and constructive debate surrounding topics that affect the entire community, without the vitriol and self-loathing that seems to permeate much of our discussions.

The question we ask is what of the power of images, especially in a community already lacking in good male role models? Charles Barkley once famously remarked, “I am not a role model,” all the while modeling his Nike shoes.  The lack of strong black males has our community in crisis!  We appear on Maury Povich denying our parental responsibilities and look to be more interested in the latest styles, rather than that, which will last. The nightly news depicts us as gun toting, self-shooting, dog killing, ear biting, white women killing, and now mass murdering.

Young black men continue to wonder about absent fathers and try to help with overworked mothers.  Anger has replaced hope; faith that was never nurtured is all but gone. In addition, for recreation, we go to the movies and see our talented tenth, not using the awesome power at their disposal to lift, but to keep us laughing at our men not being men.  Playing the role that is the only one that has been kept up in our lives, the strong black woman.

Some have said that it’s only a movie.  Recently I had a discussion with another brother about this very topic.  He was of the mind that it’s harmless fun.  My question to him is, as a father of a young black male, what if you came home and your son was dressed in his mother’s clothes, just for fun, that is? Of course, he would not like that.

The fact that Tyler Perry, at this stage in his career, is now able to finance his own projects puts more of a challenge on him to bring out not the old stereotypical images of us as a people, but he must lift his end of this burden by charting a new course, as we are headed for higher ground.

Even though they may not be able to state it themselves, Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, and yes President Obama are all black men, whose stories are only indicative of the many stories, which exist about successful, young and old black men.  Rapper Jadakiss asked the question,

“Why did Denzel have to be crooked before he took it?”  

Why do we have to be the cross dressing loud mouth? Why in 2009, when our best and brightest have the opportunities we have so longed for, do we seem to be part of the conspiracy to continue in the destruction of young black males? The dictionary defines the word image as-mental representation, idea or concept.  Is Geraldine, Madea, Sheneneh, or Wanda the image we, as black people, want as our representation across the globe?  Is that the idea?

And what about the church going fan base that makes up the large percentage of Madea supporters? What are their ideas, and concepts of black men, and how does this fit into the larger issue of men not being in church?  Tyler Perry said he continues the Madea series for them. Well it’s time he demand more of them and they of themselves. Madea got him this fan base, and if they are true fans, not of Madea, but her creator, then they will appreciate the growth. As a solution to these problems, we would recommend that Spike Lee, John Singleton, Tyler Perry and other black filmmakers, sit to discuss projects that will uplift, not just us as a people, but the human family.  Let’s stop talking at each other and talk to one another.

To those who would say, it’s their job, my simple reply is from the old black church and the warnings of our grandparents, “Don’t gain the world and lose your soul.”

My sister, Daphne, and I have been obsessed with the characters of Martin, one of the best and funniest sitcoms ever to air on primetime television, and those of In Living Color.  There are rumors that this skit might actually make it into movie production!  This project would be a slice of heaven for me and Sheneneh and Wanda lovers from around the world.  And who wouldn’t want to peep some more of Sheneneh’s unbeweavable hair-dos?!

Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence are making the parody of the movie trailer that they made for the BET Awards. They had such a strong reaction that the duo decided to turn the concept into a real film. Foxx will write the script, which he and Martin will produce through Foxx’s Foxxhole and Lawrence’s Runteldat production banners.

In the comedy, Sheneneh and Wanda are modern-day independent women trying to make it on their own, one bank robbery at a time.  Foxx and Lawrence have long tried to find a vehicle to work together, and Screen Gems’ Clint Culpepper is fast tracking the production.

Foxx, who last starred in “Law Abiding Citizen,” will next be seen in the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day.” Lawrence will next be seen in the Screen Gems comedy “Death at a Funeral.”

I know we all remember the parody video of Sheneneh and Wanda that was played during this year’s BET Awards. Well it seems the video received such a good response that Martin Lawrence and Jamie Foxx want to make this a real project. Both actors’ production companies will work on the movie.I honestly would probably go see this and crack up the entire time.

Variety is reporting that Screen Gems is going to make a movie called Sheneneh and Wanda, which will have Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence reprise their most iconic gender bending roles.

Sheneneh was Martin’s annoying ghetto neighbor and Wanda (from In Living Color) and the dog faced Wanda who was looking love and to rock their world.

Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence put together a spoof trailer for a made up movie called Skank Robbers which starred both Sheneneh and Wanda. This was used as a skit for when Jamie Foxx hosted the 2009 BET Awards. The reaction of this trailer got a lot of laughs which got these two comedians to pursue making it into a real film.

Wanda Sykes promises to pull no punches on new show

McClatchy/Rick Bentley—Comedian Wanda Sykes says her talk-show topics will hit on everything from entertainment to politics.

Wanda Sykes has no problem speaking her mind, rattling off jokes or creating conversation.

Now, she’ll try to get others to be funny and interesting as she joins the world of late-night chatters when the weekly The Wanda Sykes Show launches at 10 p.m. Saturday on Fox.

Hosting a talk show is new for Sykes but the format is not. She got her start on HBO’s The Chris Rock Show, a talk show that had no restrictions because it aired on premium cable. The freedom was perfect for Sykes, who finds humor in everything from politics to sex — and talks about it frankly.

But even with the strict rules that come with network TV, Sykes doesn’t plan to pull any verbal punches.

“I believe Fox has given us the opportunity to put it out there. I mean, that’s what they want. They booked me to be me,” Sykes says.

The network does have a safety net. Like all network talk shows, The Wanda Sykes Show will be recorded in advance. How far in advance might change depending on how much has to be bleeped. Right now, taping the show on Saturday afternoons means Sykes can be topical with her material.

Sykes, a cast member on The New Adventures of Old Christine and Curb Your Enthusiasm, wasn’t looking to host a talk show when Fox contacted her. She especially wasn’t that interested in a network job because of the potential limitations in language and topics.

The Barack Obama campaign made her change her mind.

“I was like, ‘Wow, I really wish I had an outlet where I could go out there and just speak on this on a week-to-week basis and be current.’ And I thought, ‘You know what? This talk show … I can do that. I can do the things like we did on Chris Rock.’ And that seemed like what they were getting at, what they wanted. And so I’m like, ‘This is the time. This is the time to jump into it.’” Sykes says.

Executive producer Eddie Feldmann says the show will look at what has happened in the world through Sykes’ eyes.

In an interview, Sykes explains the show’s premise to Zap2it:

Q: Will anything be off limits?
A: No. I told the writers as long as it’s relevant, if I can see why we are doing it, it has to be grounded in reality, let’s not be mean-spirited. I’m not going to just call somebody fat.

Q: What’s the format?
A: I am going to do a monologue. It will be the big story – whatever the hot story is everyone is talking about this week. I have a sidekick, Keith Robinson. We have been friends for over 20 years. He’s a very funny comic who opened for me on the road. The audience can see me with my real friends. He pushes my buttons.

Q: So you can riff on anything from reality shows to philandering politicians. Then what happens?
A: Then it’s just a big hodgepodge. We’re calling it “Wandarama.” That will be video clips and photos, doing all of the stories of the week, then a three-minute produced piece, a man-on-the-street or correspondent. This weekend I went to Adultcon, the convention for the porn industry, asking them to go green. What’s wrong with a solar-powered vibrator?

Q: What is your goal for the show?
A: To be funny, to have people talking about it. Do people still say “water cooler”? I would love water cooler. Of course, now you just go online. I would love it to be a show people are looking forward to and say, “I can’t wait for next Saturday.”

Wanda Sykes: I’ma Be Me: Behind The Scenes

Wow, not blogging gave me withdrawal symptoms. Kind of.. I started writing in an actual diary… Scary times.

SO, I’m back and no, I don’t have anything majorly useful to say but… On with the post!

First, I’m happy to report that since I’ve been gone I’ve successfully completed two from my List. I have:
- Bought Loveless manga
- Actually bought and kept a new phone
Only two? Wow… That’s lame.
But the Tocco Lite is pretty awesome, regardless of the complaints on the Samsung website. I’ve got unlimited internet which just fuels my Facebook addiction. Speaking of which, I haven’t updated my status in *checks watch* Like an hour! -w- No, it’s not that bad but I’m pretty sure it’s getting there. I just need some dangly phone charms to accompany my Bidoof that’s dangling away. Maybe get a little DeathNote charm that I’ve been eyeing on eBay…. Hmm…

Moving swiftly on to….. Driving. I suck at it. And I’m spending £21 a lesson on something I’m pretty sure I’ll never improve at D: The instructor person just seems to be oblivious of how bad I actually am. I’ve almost hit three cars, scratched some of the paintwork on the left hand wing mirror by going to close to the bushes and I’m pretty sure I almost gave him whiplash last lesson when I slammed the brakes on. I can’t wait til I can just pass and leave it at that. I won’t need a car for University seeings as.. Well… It costs more to keep your car in the carpark there so yah.

University. How the hell can I choose from the oh-so many awesome choices? I wanna choose one that’ll suit every particular aspect of ‘the dream’ such as accommodation, course, fees, etc.. And I will get to Uni. *nodnod* That’s if I can figure out my damn personal statement. I’ve pretty much written it up and was happy with it until I read my A* everything, know-it-all, everyone loves me ’cause of my multicoloured hair friend’s statement. Why can some people just be awesome at everything without trying at all compared to people like me who try soooo so hard to be the best but only gets grades like C’s and B’s. Bah. If there’s a God, I’m pretty sure I’ve done something to piss him off.

Hmm… What to move to next? Ah yes, Halloween. A child’s excuse to eat their own weight and more in candy, a female’s excuse to wear the least amount of clothing possible and a teen’s excuse to have a house party. I fall into the latter ’cause of two main reasons: Wearing little clothing appeals to me about as much as a lifetime supply of Cadbury’s chocolate would appeal to a diabetic and second, house parties are always awesome. Always. I’m going as Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents (yes I’m that cool -w-) and I’ve persuaded my sister to go as Wanda. So far to the party I’ve got: A Beauty and the Beast, an escaped convict,  The Joker, a zombie, a girl that was murdered at prom and more… And a hell of a load of drink. We’re thinking up games to play that’ll last through the night but this time around we’ve got a curfew, so to speak. All loud music and Xbox games are turned off at 1am. Which sucks. Normally, you see, we play RockBand or Guitar Hero until the sun comes up but this time, the neighbours are home so we have to ‘take them into consideration’. Fuck them!
Needs… Party… Now…

And thus, another pointless, less melancholic post is finished.
Who knows, I might be back tomorrow to tell of my Cosmo/Wanda progress and maybe… Just maybe.. There’ll be pictures?

Junto con mi lensbaby llegó la nueva cámara de Wanda. Es una Panasonic Lumix lx3, y la verdad es que está buenisima y me pone muy contento que ella se haya comprado una cámara para ella, porque desde que tenemos reflex había dejado de sacar fotos y la verdad es que me gustaba mucho su ojo para ver algunas cosas. Espero que la use mucho y sorprenda a varios con sus fotos.

El viernes le terminaron el tattoo a Wanda y ya que hoy estaba deshinchado y los colores ya se estaban definiendo, le saqué una foto para que vean el trabajo terminado.

I always read Arab Times for my daily dose of Baby Blues. I sooooooooooo love Wanda and can sometimes see my self in her…except ofcourse, she has 3 kids and I have one……I can only imagine how Wanda must feel.

How many moms out there see themselves in the above picture!! Ha HA  Ha!!

Emmy® Winner Wanda Sykes Returns to HBO for Her Second Stand-up Comedy Special

HBO—Longtime HBO favorite Wanda Sykes will return for her second solo special on the network, it was announced today by Nancy Geller, senior vice president, HBO Entertainment. To be taped before a live audience at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. this August for October debut, the special will feature the outspoken comic performing material featured in her current national stand-up tour.

“Wanda Sykes is one of the sharpest, smartest comics around, and we can’t wait to hear what she has to say in this provocative new special,” noted Geller.

Sykes has been an HBO mainstay for many years. The Emmy®-nominated “Wanda Sykes: Sick and Tired,” her first solo special on the network, debuted in 2006. As one of the writers on “The Chris Rock Show,” she shared a 1997 Emmy® for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program and also won Emmys® in 2002 and 2004 for her humorous commentaries on “Inside the NFL.” Her first book, “Yeah, I Said It,” was published In 2004.In addition, she has appeared frequently on Larry David’s hit HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and will be featured on the new season of the show, which kicks off Sept. 20.

Named one of Entertainment Weekly’s “25 Funniest People in America,” Sykes recently hosted the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, and will launch her own late-night network show this fall.
