The second moment that I can really remember feeling utterly sickened about eating meat was late on a Sunday night when I was around twelve years old.

There had been a huge storm and we had lost power. Mum put my sister and I into the old brown Holden car and we drove through suburb after suburb until we found one that had power. There was a pseudo Italian outlet and I ordered ribs.

At home, sitting by candlelight and eating my dinner, I was suddenly acutely aware that I was gnawing on the ribs of an animal. This intense, dark energy eminated from the bones. I felt it. I felt the animal’s suffering. I felt its horror at the point of killing. I felt its fear and dread.

‘I don’t think this animal died in very nice circumstances,’ I said  to Mum.

Mum, also an animal lover, grimaced. ‘Try not to think about it,’ she said.

But it was so utterly revolting, as though I was some scavenger who was cleaning up the remains of a carcass.

I was nauseous in the extreme and left my meal unfinished. It was the start of my aversion from anything that resembled what it had looked like when it had been alive–bones, feathers, scales, skin. The only way I could eat meat was if it contained no reminders of its past and was cooked very well done, preferably burned.

I can remember the first moment when I first realised the connection between eating meat and eating an animal. I was in Year 5 and our Social Studies unit was on food. Each week we had to research a particular food and create a project on it. Always the academic achiever, I jumped into these projects with great gusto. One week it was peanuts, and I learned that Kingaroy was the peanut capital of Australia. Another week it was pineapples, and another macadamias.

I remember going to the local newsagent and buying information packs on these foods as well as coloured pens and pencils to make my project really shine. (My love of stationery stores began early…) I would take these info packs home, absorb everything that I read, then cut out the pictures to glue onto my project sheets. (And I can only imagine how inconvenient that must have been for Mum, a single mother on a tight budget.)

Then the week came when I was required to research beef. There, inside my project information pack, were photos of cows. Dark brown beef cattle stared out at me, huddling together in feedlots. Although I must have known it on some level, it was the first moment I remember of having such a strong, visceral reaction to the connection of cows and the steak that I ate.

The information focused on the number of head of cattle and the major farming areas in Queensland. It didn’t even mention the act of slaughter or butchery, but I turned each page with an ever-increasing mortification: I had been eating cows.

Here’s three good reasons to be vegetarian:

1. It aligns with my ethics.
2. It’s good for the animals.
3. It’s good for the planet.

It’s a win-win-win situation. So why wouldn’t I be vegetarian?

I love animals, dearly. I have difficulty killing spiders, flies, cockroaches and even mosquitos. Wherever possible, I transport them outside or away from where I am living so that they can go on their way. In theory, I subscribe to a ‘do no harm’ Buddhist philosophy.

Okay, in truth, if there are mosquitos buzzing around my head when I go to bed at night I do rather vigorously chase them down and kill them, smacking them into silence where they can neither bite me nor transmit diseases to me.

But I say sorry. Always. I hold remorse and sorrow that my actions have brought about a loss of life and I wish them well into the next life. Does that count for anything?

I am perfectly suited to being a vegetarian. But, so far, I physically have not been able to. I have a rap sheet of digestive issues and allergies that mean I can’t replace enough the necessary proteins that I need. I have tried to be vegetarian–many times. But I always get around two weeks in and feel decidedly ill: weak, incoherent, and craving serious protein. My mind and soul wish to be vegetarian; my body simply does not.

So how can i reconcile this fact? How do I manage being a partial meat eater when every sense and desire inside of me screams to live a life of compassion and ‘do no harm’?

I’m sick and tired. And not of one thing, but of many of them. I don’t even know where to start, which annoys me the most. Since recently the only thing getting me angry was because of the stealing-sharing thing let’s begin with that one. I confess that i know that i won’t get Oscar or either Nobel prize for translating articles to English from Finnish but i would have expected that at least i would get a Thank you from people, since we are supposed to be friends and not enemies (but recently it turned out that between fans we are more like enemies than united friends whatever). I really wouldn’t mind if people would post my translations on all the sites they have, the only thing i was asking is to give a proper link where from they have it since it was me who have spend time on doing it. It might sound i’m selfish, but if i would be i wouldn’t be doing those articles and post them. The second thing that is keeping me pretty annoyed is when people start insulting my friends without to even know more about them than just a forum nickname. Get a life and insult those you know for a longer time and you know more about them than just that. The third thing that i will write about is the fact some idiot some people can act when it comes to make themselves bigger and bigger in the eyes of someone. I hate those people who think that they know The Rasmus just because they have spent a night with them in a bar (where btw the guys were half -if not fully- drunk), and then come on you and tell this and that. And you know that you have been talking with them when sober and they have told you something totally different and you know you’re right and if you tell them they are wrong they immediately came crashing on you that you just have to shut up because it wasn’t you who have been with them more hours. Yeah right, let’s face they will never show their real personalities to none of the fans, they will always be friendly and nice with us, but we will never truly know the real Lauri Ylönen, Aki Hakala, Eero Heinonen and Pauli Rantasalmi… we’ll always know only the nice and friendly drummer, the smiling singer, the yoga-freak and silent bass player and the always hiding afro guitar player.
I have just found out i’ve been banned from a forum. Wow, i have to be proud of myself. I think i had all my right to fight for what i want and that was the reason why. Who cares? I have another nice forum where to stay how much i want This is just another proof from the admins of that forum that they are running from the responsibilities and problems as Oana said, they can’t face the real life and they just want to live peacefully in their own dream world without to be woken up by anyone. Sweet Dreams Girls! Don’t wait for baby-face Lauri coming to you to ask you in marriage because he won’t… he’s already happy with his family .

Mhmhmhmhm tomorrow 15th anniversary gig of the guys. Maaaan, i can’t wait for it…will be also home alone so partywith 100000000000 I want to jump again around and just forget about the world for a while. I don’t care about the next week, i don’t want to… i just enjoy today and will skip some lessons, as i don’t have some of the essays prepared for them.

Music has always been in my blood, although it’s not something of a family trait. I grew up in the 80’s so my musical taste was inspired by the Stock, Aiken and Waterman monopoly going on at that time. From there I went the predictable commercial route until I was around 18 and realised that music was music and the fact that I was a big N Sync fan didn’t mean I wasn’t cool enough to be able to listen to an Oasis album.

From there I pretty much listened to anything I could get my ears on; breaking out of the mainstream and the stereotypes of what a ‘pop’ fan is.

I say all this to point out how much of a music nut I was and to emphasize how bad it is that I didn’t hear about Christian music until I was around 22 and only then because I happened to have a friend who was already interested in it.

You may argue that Christian music is accessible to Christians as long as they are involved in a Church which embraces it so as long as you are involved in fellowship within the community you will know about the relevant music scene, but let’s look at the other side.

Can’t music be the connector to bring people into the Church, or can’t music we listen to in the car or on our mp3’s on the way to work have a more positive message to it and soothe us into worship in our daily lives, after all we are called to be Christian’s seven days a week and not just on one morning in the four walls of a church?

People often think, and I count myself in this, that Christian music is all about old bearded men with Jesus sandals or hippy women in long flowing skirts singing simple melodies over a ropy guitar backing that has now relevance to life outside of the Church. It simply isn’t true anymore. The opportunity to review on this site has really opened my eyes to the quality of Christian music these days and I love what the guys are doing here to promote it and treat it in the same way that secular music is treated.

Why shouldn’t Christian bands get the same kind of recognition that their secular peers would? Why does the fact that music has a message behind it make it unsuitable for the radio or for MTV? Isn’t it time that the secular music scene sits up and takes notice of Christian music that is just as good in terms of quality and performance?

Maybe Louder Than The Music is what the world needs to make them realise Christian music shouldn’t be written off. Maybe we need to be the change.

Täna oli ilus ilm. Booyah… rohkem polnudki vaja. Suutsin oma paksu perse arvuti eest paariks tunniks minema vedada ja käisin pildistamas… pildid on kollaažidena fotoblogis. Kuna mul modelli ei olnud, siis pidin leppima iseenda pildistamisega, mis tähendas käte väänamist… ja parimad pildid just ei tulnud.

Kauaks ma muidugi ei suutnud jääda, sest jooksin tuppa tagasi TVD-d vaatama…Kummitas mis mul nägemata jäi ja vaatasin, siis terve esimese hooaja kümme osa lõpuni. Närvi ajas aga see, et kui ma kümnenda osa vaadatud sain, tuli välja, et uut osa enne jaanuarit välja ei tule… Mis mõttes nagu!? Mu puberteedinupp läks tööle! Film lõppes sellega, et Elena leppis (lõpuks) Stefaniga ära, tegid keppi, olid õnnelikud, siis Elena leidis pildi Katherine’ist, läks närvi, sõitis Stefani juurest minema, kihutas vampiirile otsa, pani rämedalt matsu, rullus autoga üle kuudi ja siis tuli vampiir tema poole ja ta hakkas karjuma…. ja KÕIK! Tšiisas! Nii ei tehta vaestele fännidele! Nii huvitavas kohas sai läbi! Telekanal on kaval… VÄGA kaval.

Tegelikult ma mõistan, et keegi ei saa aru, millest ma räägin ja kuna mul on jube-jube igav, siis seletan lahti.

TVD ehk The Vampire Diaries räägib, siis 17/18aastasest Elenast(Nina Dobrev), kes toibub autoõnnetusest, kus ta vanemad surid. Kooli tuleb siis megakuum kutt Stefan(Paul Wesley), kellega tal mingi semm tekib. Samuti tuleb ka linna Stefani vend Damon(Ian Somehalder). Inimesed hakkavad surema. Tuleb välja, et Stefan ja Damon on paarisaja aasta vanused vampiirid, kes kunagi samas linnas elasid. Stefan on hea kuum poiss/vampiir, kes üritab loomadest toituda, Damon on sitapea kuum poiss/vampiir, keda ei koti miski ja ta lihtsalt tapab või kasutab tüdrukuid elavate sööklatena. Ja siis läheb kammiks… inimesed surevad, mõni saab vampiiriks, Elena sõbranna on nõid jne. Ahjaaa, Damon ja Stefan armastasid kunagi Katherine’i, kes on Elenaga äravahetamiseni sarnased. Katherine aga elas ca sada aastat tagasi ja sai surma. Stefan vist selle pärast läkski sinna linna tagasi, et Elenaga tutvuda kuna too meenutas Katherine’i. Igatahes… siis need vennad kaklevad selle üle, et kumba tegelikult Katherine armastas, Stefan üritab samal ajal Elenaga midagi luua. Juhtub aga, et Elena saab teada, et nad on vampiirid… alguses ta põlgab Stefani ära… aga lõpuks mõistab et armastab teda, aga siis on juba linnas elu nii perse läinud, et Stefan leiab, et neil oleks targem lahus olla… kuigi ta armastab Elenat. Ja siis viimases osas nad lepivad nagu ära või midagi… sellest ma juba rääkisin… Ma arvan, et Elena põgeneb Stefani juurest sest ta ei teadnud, et Katherine talle nii väga sarnanes ja arvab et Stefan tahab teda ainult sarnasuse tõttu (mis ei ole tõsi)…ahjaa, Elena peaks olema Stefani ja Damoni vahel, armastama mõlemat, aga see vist juhtub hiljem… no ma ei tea… igatahes lõppeb see valel ajal ja nüüd ma pean ootama kuni saabub jaanuar.. ja sinna on 1,2, mitu kuud aega…

Ahjaa, ma tean, et TVD meenutab “Videvikku” ja kõik arvavad, et see on mingi fail rip-off… aga et te teaksite, siis TVD on tehtud raamatu seeria põhjal, mis avaldati 1991.aastal esmakordselt. Niiet kui midagi on rip-off, siis on Videvik.  TVD-s ei ole ninnu-nännu häid vampiire- on kurjad ja on Stefan (teine hea vampiir tapeti ära). Üldiselt on nad pohhuistid ja seal naerdakse Videviku üle. Seal ei ole sädelevaid vampiire, sealsed vampiirid omavad ainevahetust, normaalset kehatemperatuuri ja kustuvat mälu. Vot tak! Ja naispeategelast ei mängi mingi mulletgirl wannabe attitude‘iga, mis tähendab, et peaosas on ainult vägailusad inimesed! NING seriaali n-ö lööklauseks on “love sucks“… mhmmmm…täpselt!

Igatahes tundub mulle, et ma pean TVD raamatud läbi lugema, sest see on huvitav…. ja veidi täiskasvanum kui Videviku saaga. Kokku on neid praeguseks 5, aga tulemas on veel 2.

Ma tean, et ma peaksin oma vampiiri hullustusest üle saama, aga mis teha.. see on tobe, jah, aga mulle meeldib… Ja Paul Wesley on ülemõistuse kuum-kuum-kuum-kuum! Kelle täisnimi on Paul Thomas Wasilewski… ja mu vanaema neiupõlvenimi on Vassiljevski(õigekirjas pole kindel)… HA… epic…

Ütleme nii, et selle kõige juures on hea, et mul uus hullus tekkis- ma ei ole enam nii sõltuvuses sellest Videviku jamast.. või niisama üksik. Ainus, mida ma veel Videviku alal jälgin on filmid ja see kuidas mõni kuulsus avalikult ringi laseb. Eta vsjo… Progress… jälle.

Rääkides Videviku kuulsustest, siis nagu teate on uus film pm väljas ja siis on esilinatused ja asjad… ja Stewart ei suuda oma õudneolemist varjata… jube-jube. ma ei viitsi oma silmi ega blogiruumi raisata ta peale.

Nii, minu elus siis toimub nii palju, et :

1) otsustasin oma pildid lõpuks Picasasse lisada… homme, vb;

2)ei osale keemia olümpiaadil;

3) rääkisin Triinuga, kes pakkus, et ma võiksin Virgosse kirjutama hakata… ma ei suuda otsustada tegelikult… üks asi on blogisse kelbast panna, teine asi on lehte kirjutada… ma ropendan liiga palju;

4)Sügisballi peaksin lugema.

Lisaks nendele on veel nii, et load on siiani tegemisel ja mul viskab vaikselt üle. Soome saan minna ikkagi talvel ja see on hea.. aga kui ma selleks ajaks lube ära ei tee, siis ma ei saa ka sealt autot osta… perse kui kiireks mul läheb.

Soome kardan veidi minna, sest seal seagripp.. Emps keeldus vennale vaktsiini tegemast… see pidi ajukas olema… lisaks veel 20eurot üks laks.

Leidsin veel arvutist, pilte sorides, pildi kus me Proua Miga tudume… tuli isu seda teiega jagada.

Vaatasin siis Pattsi uue filmi, Remember Me, traileri ära…. mhmh… ma ei taha kommenteerida. Aga ma teen seda siiski. Terve trailer ma istusin arvuti taga ja mõtlesin sellele, et mul on kusehäda, trailerist ei jäänud mulje, et tegemist on huvitava filmiga, Patts on vahepeal seksikas sest peksab palju ja on koguaeg verine… natuke nude värki on ka, aga üldine pilt oli mage. Nüüd ootan filmi ka ära… aga ega ma ei usu et sealt midagi tarka tuleb.

Dieedil olen ka… vana perse on siin saaremaal jälle paksuks läinud.. Terve suvi soomes korralikku toitumist läks ühe kuuga siin vastu taevast. Ma pean ennast kokku võtma.. Suure persega on raske ennast hommikul voodist välja venitada… vanavanemad aga teevad asju raskeks, sest nad teevad koguaeg pekki ja rasvast toitu. Täna juba räuskasin nendega, sest vanaisa arusaam õigest elust on 24/7 söömine. Gaaash…

Ma tean, et midagi oli veel, mida ma kirjutada tahtsin, aga ma ei kujuta ette mida… aju kärssab…

As of today, I have 4,483 songs on my iPod.  I use it everywhere I go – at my desk, in the gym, in the truck, while I am DIYing. I would have to say that it is one of my most prized material possessions.  I have clocked myself with it – I can actually run further, work harder and drive faster (okay, not saying this is necessarily a good thing) when I am jacked in.  But, with that many songs in the collection, it is inevitable that I’ve collected a few choice tidbits that might be considered a bit well, odd, to the casual listener.  That is to say, I believe that I have some tracks that others might consider to be pure shite.

Of course I have complete control over my musical stylings and although I am not ashamed to admit it, it does seem to put me in a perhaps somewhat unique category when it comes to my musical tastes.  The vast majority of my music collection is 80s music – the synthpop through the metal years.  I’ve got a bit of blues, a small range of reggae, pocketful of oldies and a few world-music cuts to season the mix. Over the past few years, I have even expanded my horizons to include country, R&B and electronica to really shake it up a bit.

But even in those wide categories, I’ve got a few selections that stand out as obscure, obtuse or perhaps even obstinate. These particular songs hold no real cultural value (other than to show that we can produce some really bad music, perhaps).  But they hold value to me.  Perhaps they represent a specific time in my life, a treasured memory or maybe they just have a good hook and a hot chick is singing.  I dunno.

And so without further adieu, because I know how much you care, below please find a few samples from my list of guilty ipod pleasures.  (Now, if I let you read this, you gotta post a couple of your own too…keep the goodness going!)

Accept – Balls to the Wall

• According to Wikipedia: Released in 1983 on the album of the same name, this became Accept’s signature tune and remains a metal anthem and trademark in the genre.
• My Favorite line: Let’s plug a bomb in everyone’s arse, If they don’t keep us alive – we’re gonna fight for the right (Seriously…what does that even mean?)

• According to Wikipedia: The group’s debut album, Sex Packets, was released in the spring of 1990 and included “The Humpty Dance,” a humorous dance number that climbed all the way to #11 on the pop charts (The video above was live from the Arsenio Hall show – BONUS!)
• My favorite line: I get stoopid, I shoot an arrow like Cupid, I use a word that don’t mean nothin’, like looptid (Ironically, “looptid” can now be found in many online dictionaries accompanied with the definition of : a word that “don’t mean nothin’)

Spice Girls – Wannabe

• Yeah, okay, if you are 12 or older you know the Spice Girls.  I actually have several cuts on the pod.  If you liked them (go on, admit it, you know you want to), I highly recommend the Ting Tings as a more contemporary spin-off of sorts
• My favorite line: I’ll tell you what I want, what I really really want, So tell me what you want, what you really really want, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really Really really wanna zigazig ha. (Okay, honestly, what I really, really wanna know is…what the hell is a zigazig ha!?)

Vanilla Ice – Ice, Ice Baby

• According to Wikipedia: Originally released on Vanilla Ice’s 1989 debut album Hooked and later on his 1990 national debut To the Extreme, it is his most famous and popular song.
• My favorite line: Quick to the point to the point no faking , I’m cooking MC’s like a pound of bacon (Now look at that –  he missed a perfect opportunity for cross marketing with those “Pork: The Other White Meat” ad people)

Winger – Seventeen

• According to Wikipedia: Released in 1988, the song charted at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100. Despite its pop rock sound, Kip Winger points out that the tune is musically a Progressive song and that it is actually quite challenging to play and sing simultaneously (mhmm, sure thing Kip, that might explain the literary fortitude of those lyrics then, eh?)
• My favorite line: She’s only seventeen (seventeen), The girl she gives me love like I’ve never seen, She’s only seventeen (seventeen), Daddy says she’s too young, But she’s old enough for me (Okay, when this song came out I was almost seventeen and I thought it was cool.  Now that I am older, and a dad, with daughters, it is yea verily creepy.)

Surf MCs – Surf or Die

• (So obscure they don’t even have a Wikipedia or Youtube entry, but I do highly recommend the high-brow artistry of their video) Suffice it to say they were a mid-80s surf punk/rap group from California
• My favorite line: Sharks on my right, sharks on my left, One false move, we knew it was death, That’s when we heard a terrifying cry ”Hug wood, homeboy – you better surf or die!” (Ouch, seriously make it stop.. I am laughing too hard at my own stupidity)

Homme hakkab jälle kool, mul on sitaks õppimata ja mu ribid valutavad. Hea uudis on, aga et ma leidsin oma kolm paari saapaid üles… noh… 1 paar on kasutuskõlbmatu, sest mulle meenus, et ma kandsin need eelmisel aastal täiesti läbi, teine paar on ainult koduseks kandmiseks ja kolmas paar on talviseks kandmiseks… See tähendab, et ma olen IKKA ilma jalatsiteta…

Eile, siis pidin oma tennistega poes selget pead hoidma, et mitte lapseahistajaks muutuda… 2 aastat nagu ei olegi suur vahe, et päris pedofiiliks ennast tunnistada, aga siiski… ma ei kujuta ette miks, aga mingil põhjusel on mulle sisse tambitud, et nooremat vastassugu vaatab ainult meessugu… Yeah, that just sucks… Tundub nagu ma oleksin meeleheitel…. aga ma ei ole! Käisime siis reedel väljas… Tissipidu nagu Pihl selle kohta ütles. Üldiselt oli tore- mingi joodik kukkus mulle otsa..selleks puhuks  sain Krislilt laenuks aanuseauguga sukapüksid… Nüüd me siis teame, et ta on ainult front door virgin… back door? Long gone! Igatahes, mu jalad on valusad, siiani! Mu ribid on valusad… mingil põhjusel… ja mu kael on valus…jälle!

Kusjuures, seoses roietega nägin unes, et kukkusin trepist alla ja roided segi. Seisin püsti, et valu varjata, aga samas nutsin ja karjusin nagu segane. Ja siis tuli Herr, kes hüppas üle minu treppide peal ja ütles : “Munn suhu, siis valu kaob iga litsi jaoks ära!”… mhmh… Ma usun, et nii solvavaks ta ka ei muutu… kasuks tuleb kindlasti see, et ta ei räägi minuga enam.

Krisli ja Kirvenäoga seos meenus mulle üks eee.. see on vist tikkimisjoonis!? Või asi… teate küll (mina ja käsitöö ei käi ilmselgelt kokku…)!? Igatahes… see on Pattsist… ja kui keegi selle peaks ära tegema (Krisli teeb näiteks detailina oma uuele kollektsioonile), siis ma maksan kümpa… sorri.. mul kerge PuPu… Igatahes… ma arvan, et see Patts näeks välja nagu Homer Simpson… või Simpsonite versioon Pattsist… igaljuhul Simpson… Või meessoost Kirvenägu:)

Ja siis leidsin ka True Bloodi ja Videviku sisukokkuvõtted või nii… Hämmastav kui “erinevad” need on.. Hmm… Huvitav kas Stephenie Meyer sai järsku mingit inspiratsiooni sealt or what!?

Vb Krisli saab aru, aga jah… sõnaseppasid on meile siia maailma alati vaja… Eriti meisterlikke sõnaseppasid, kes kohe kindlasti kuntsihingede eliiti kuuluvad… Kohati on lausa häbi lugeda blogisid, kus blogib keegi, kellel on vaja blogida enda “kunstilisuse” näitamiseks … et inimesed mõistaksid. Ja kui see on veel feigi kunstilisusega, siis see imeb… Mul on selle kohta vaid üht öelda/ näidata:

Fake and fail!

Positiivsematel teemadel ülesastudes pean ma suure rõõmuga teatama, et ma sain Proua Milt eile uue Cosmo… Ja seal kaanel on Megan Fox… Ja Pihlale saan ma tänu sellele teatada, et the Luck is on our side! Talle meeldivad mehed, aga ta võib ka ära armuda naistesse! Haha. Kui keegi veel ei tea, siis me avastasime Pihlaga, et Foxi pärast võiksime me lesbideks hakata… ja õnneks ei ole meie tunded ühepoolsed…nagu see meestega kipub olema. Ja siia lõppu panen enda msni smaili: HEHEHE!

I can’t believe I finally pen this down. I mean, type this down. I got my hands full with Biology projects on modelling kidney’s nephron and vasa recta, as well as the 3 types of neurones. Since my dear friend is still in Singapore so no one take the lead on this project. One of the wannabes did try but she’s a bit unsuccessful and unlucky coz all she got is other wannabes talking behind her back. I was there but it didn’t mean I got to backstab her as well. I’m quite used to wannabes since they always follow what others do. Examples: they followed my dear friend’s style and hairdos, not to mention they did follow me knitting. I do hope that once my dear friend got home she will take over the control. I’m not the leader type since I always do the supporting works. I was wondering about this rambling, should I post it or not? I used to be a wannabe as well. No offense, hands down. But I got over it and I spread my wings to be a trendsetter. So it’s not like I hate all wannabes. Just several people that overdid it.

The bad news is, I’ve been dragging along my online yarn orders because those wannabes were to tag along for the shipment and this one wannabe, the leader wannabe, was changing her order everytime, causing the transaction to be delayed and I haven’t got my yarns ready up til now. I’m going ahead without her order since I’m sooooo tired of waiting and now I have to wait for more since the yarn seller hasn’t confirm the order. FYI, it’s been 2 weeks since the first order was made.

On the other side, I’ve gone to mobile blogging. I downloaded and installed WordPress for BlackBerry which makes it easier for me to rambles on-the-go. I’m still waiting for my dear friend to come home and bring me my baby. I hope those wannabes won’t lay their hands on my baby.

Esse é um modelinho de fake bem comum aqui em Porto Alegre, durante o Donna Fashion (semana de moda) ele bombou… tinha aos montes, parecia que tinham distribuido de graça!

O mais interessante é que a Oi (aquela dos celulares) tinha um stand  durante o evento e TODAS as promoters usavam essa night fake aí! Cara de pau né!?

A visão pode ser tendenciosa, mas, pergunto, qual a forma mais apropriada de se fruir uma música se não for se jogando nela, isto é, dançando? Tudo bem que para certo tipo de música, a chamada erudita, o mais adequado seria uma apreciação menos corporal e mais auditiva, digamos, mais introspectiva, demandando um determinado nível de elaboração intelectual. Mas se o que se fala aqui é da música eletrônica, a não ser que seja alguma daquelas variações deep, o mais natural, repito, o mais natural é se jogar na música, na vibração das ondas sonoras. E para quem gosta de dançar de olhos abertos existe sempre a possibilidade de fritar, digo, fruir a música em consonância às imagens mixadas ao vivo; mas ainda assim tratar-se-ia de fruição.

De qualquer forma, a não ser que se tome a reação do público como uma hipertrofia da fruição imagética – hipótese que descarto já de antemão – não foi bem isso que aconteceu no último dia do “Fórum Eletronika de Mídia Expandida”. Se o público se fixou na imagem ou não, o que pôde ser visto na maior parte da noite foi mão no bolso e distanciamento crítico: os dois personagens-ídolos-fetiches que tem tomado conta da cena eletrônica em BH. Esses protagonistas chegaram a um nível tal de veneração que, seguindo bem suas personalidades, nada se fala sobre eles, apenas adota-se postura semelhante e, por conseguinte, sustenta-se o semblant all night long.

Se o pessoal avaliou os djs da noite como não sendo dignos de uma “jogaçãozinha mundana”, pra usar um termo mais vulgar, o que importa para a discussão aqui é que o que pode ser percebido na noite belorizontina não é mera contingência ou capricho de uma turma que gosta da postura blasé. Na verdade, se se aprofunda o olhar, percebe-se que tal tomada de atitude toca no cerne da questão da arte contemporânea. Não só é índice da arte dos dias de hoje, como também da configuração dos tempos atuais. E, vale dizer, essa afirmação não é forçosa.

H. R. Jauss, um dos teóricos da Estética da Recepção, defende a idéia de que a experiência da arte tem se transformado cada vez mais numa experiência menos estética – no sentido do sensível, da estesia – e mais filosófica-conceitual. Tome-se como exemplo, apenas pra citar dois nomes, os Dogville da vida de Lars Von Trier e As cidades invisíveis, de Ítalo Calvino: em que cada obra rende um artigo acadêmico ou dissertação de mestrado.

Segundo aquele teórico, seria o processo de gradual autonomização da arte que teria possibilitado tal mudança na maneira como se produz e se recebe obras de arte desde Duchamp. Trocando em miúdos, o deslocamento dos objetos do cotidiano para o espaço da galeria, isto é, a eleição de objetos comuns ao status de obra de arte coloca questões que a obra por si mesma não é capaz de responder: o que qualifica um objeto qualquer de estético? Qual a distância que separa a minha experiência prazerosa de escovar os dentes de uma experiência estética legítima, digna desse nome?

Como todo mundo sabe, somos netos de Duchamp. Isso que percebemos como arte hoje é invariavelmente condicionado por aquilo que aquele francês fez no início do século passado. As questões colocadas pelo ready-made se agravaram, se aprimoraram ao ponto de hoje mantermos, já de antemão e de modo natural, o distanciamento crítico diante de qualquer obra de arte. Estamos sempre a postos, com o olhar oblíquo e a mão no queixo, para interpretarmos, atribuir sentido, enxergar o conceito que reside por detrás. Olhamos a obra tendo em mente aquela pergunta: o que dá legitimidade a essa obra para que possa ser chamada de arte? Qual atributo lhe dá a dignidade de carregar esse nome?

Chegamos então ao segundo ponto dessa discussão: o que faz a mão no bolso e o distanciamento crítico serem índices dos tempos atuais?

Como se sabe, depois que senhor Freud retirou a inocência de nossos sonhos e nos apresentou o caráter abissal de nosso inconsciente, nada, repito, nada atualmente escapa a nossa razão observadora e crítica, nada deixa de galgar o status de símbolo, nada passa ileso a nossa capacidade, eu diria ansiedade, de tudo interpretar.

Vivemos na idade da interpretação. Tudo pode ser tão decididamente, analiticamente destrinchado em forma de conceito que deixamos de lado a possibilidade de fruir – estesicamente – tanto a obra de arte como a mais pura existência de um dado objeto, palavra ou som. Para continuar com Freud, transformamo-nos numa sociedade de neuróticos. Perdemos a capacidade de fruir, de nos jogarmos no mundo das coisas. Se não perdemos a capacidade, pelo menos, sou forçada a dizer, prefere-se não colocá-la em prática.

Só para lembrar Clarice Lispector: “o que eu não sei do ovo é o que realmente importa”. Às vezes o que importa é não entender, fruir, ainda que as palavras, o conceito, não toquem ou não consigam tocar a coisa. “O que eu não sei do ovo me dá o ovo propriamente dito”.

Aujourd’hui, je voulais faire un petit point sur vous ; parce qu’après tout, ça fait quelques temps qu’on se suit, que vous êtes fidèles à ce blog, à mon site web, à mon parcours, à mon évolution de wannabe littéraire 2.0 sur Facebook ou Twitter, etc. et je tenais à rendre un mini compte-rendu.

Au regard de certaines statistiques, voici les résultats du jour :

- Vous êtes en moyenne 79% de femmes et 18% d’hommes à me “suivre” (certains diront que mon écriture est “féminine”, je ne sais pas trop ce que cela signifie…) ;

- Les Français sont les 1ers à être fidèles au Monde scriboïque, suivis de près par les “Etats-Uniens”, les Belges et les Canadiens ;

- La majorité d’entre vous se situe dans une tranche d’âge entre 25 et 34 ans à 42%, talonnés par les “35-44 ans” avec 25%.

Alors, qu’y a t-il à conclure pour le moment ? Où vous situez-vous là, maintenant ?

Je suis heureux en tout cas que cet univers du monde scriboïque puisse intéresser un panel de gens aussi vaste, vraiment. plutôt cool cette expérience de la blogosphère.

Há um tempo estou com algumas fotos no meu celular e não postei pela mais pura falta de tempo. mas tinha que dividir isso com vocês.

Hoje o Look Melissa inaugura uma nova categoria de post: Wannabe Melissa. Então, se você viu uma fake ou um outro sapato por aí que gostaria de ser Melissa… manda pra gente!

Bom, nossa primeira concorrente de hoje veio da C&A e gostaria de ser uma Ultragirl da Barbie. Na verdade fiquei meio chateada de encontrar um sapato infantil com a mesma estampa da Melissa… achei que fosse exclusiva!

Achamos, também na C&A, uma sandália flocada que quer ser uma Zen Flocada! Tadinha… essa vai ter que lutar muito ainda porque o acabamento… minhas amigas, era um terror!
