Everything in life seems to be a trade-off. When trying to design a little ecologically smart beach hotel in Tulum, it gets challenging fast. Firstly there is no electricity provided along the Tulum beach. So we needed to generate and store enough power to supply our cabanas and guests, as well as the restaurant and bar.

We wanted our guests to have 24 hr electricity so they could have fans and lights and their laptops whenever they wanted. And of course we wanted refrigeration in the restaurant and bar to keep everything fresh and healthy. So we invested heaps of money in a 6kw wind turbine, with back up generator and a huge bank of batteries to store all the power we make.

Secondly we have no sewerage services along the beach. We were not prepared to just drill holes into the ground and dispose of our waste in the way that the big all-inclusive hotels do (gross!). So we invested in 2 US made bio-treatment systems that produce 99% clean water that can be used on the gardens (and yes, we tested the water to see if the claims of 99% were true…yes!). But we didn’t count on the systems needing 8 amps of power…so back to the electrical system which now needed an upgrade.

Thirdly, there is no water supply along the beach. We had to find low salt content water from a well, and then build a cistern to hold it and mix with fresh water that gets trucked in every day…what a pain.

Then we invested in putting in solar hot water heating on the roof of each cabana, but found that the water corroded all the tubing really fast. And of course the installation wasn’t done properly…so back to the drawing board on cabana solar hot water. Attempt 2 is scheduled for the fall this year. We will keep you posted.

We have just built some new gardens over in the jungle and will be growing our own organic vegetables, herbs and fruits, which is leading us into composting all the kitchen waste. And they say that recycling is just around the corner…so with a little luck we will just get more and more eco-real as time goes by. So in a nutshell it is really difficult to design a little ecologically smart beach Tulum Hotel.

Abuser dad’s name "gagged"–even though he was convicted (Dorset, England, United Kingdom)

Controlling information and the ability to publicly "name" are crucial to maintaining social power and dominance. As a result, we are seeing increasingly bizarre abuses of "gag orders" as the victims of abuse are now longer willing to be shamed into silence, and abusers look for new ways to maintain the upper hand. Surely "gag orders" have a (limited) place when someone has yet to be tried. But this UNNAMED DAD has confessed and been convicted of abusing his infant son! So we can’t even pretend that this gag order is related to the need of a fair trial. It’s to maintain lack of accoutability and ignorance. And to further clamp down on the victims and keep them from speaking openly about what happened to them.
And it’s totally outrageous that this dad got the legal equivalent of a wrist slap for what he did to this baby.

Baby abuse father ‘must be named’

A Dorset woman whose ex-husband broke the ribs of their new born son has said she wants a court order to be lifted so she can name and shame him.
The baby, whose identity is protected by the order, had four ribs broken by his father when he was five weeks old.
The man, who admitted two assaults on the child, was sentenced to 170 hours of community service.
The mother is unable to name her ex-partner without breaching the order protecting her son.
She said: "I think when he gets older he will be very disappointed that his biological father was not named and shamed in a way, especially with what he got in court.
"I have to act on my son’s behalf and do what I think as a mother will be right for him when he is older."
She added: "He’s now free to be around other children. My ex-husband is not on any sort of register and I think that it’s awful."

Wanted, released in 2008, what a film! Directed by Timer Berkmambetov, I was amazed by the acting, special effects and visual style of this film, it was incredible. Basically the plot of the film is rather simple but complex in the techniques it is portrayed to the audience. Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) has an average lifestyle, boring job, cheating girlfriend who is betraying him with his best friend, which he is aware of however, too afraid to say anything. To top this all, his boss at work humiliates him every chance she has. His life seems to be on hold, until mentor Fox (Angelina Jolie) comes and takes him from his average styled life, introduces him to the Fraternity which is a secret society of assassins and trains him up in order to kill a strayed assassin called Cross. However, not everything is what it seems, lying and cheating in his life is becoming a habit he is having to become used to and it is down to him to get a grasp on his life and take control of individuals who are taking him for a ride.

Also starring Morgan Freeman (Shawshank Redemption) this film is a must see. The car chases, explosions, gadgets and cars are incredible, I would buy the film just watch them again. So can you bend a bullet? Ha, I think I probably could, who am i kidding?

The news is that bollywood actor Salman Khan has hired a team of scriptwriters. So the first question which comes to mind is that is he going to produce a film? But no, he has hired them so that they read all the scripts before they come to him for approval.

Such a step has been taken by him after the box-office disaster of ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’. So now all the future projects will be approved by that team and then come to him. Salman is blaming the scriptwriters for the weak performance of ‘Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’.

A source confirmed, “He has now gathered a team of experts to read all the scripts before they come to him for approval. After the success of ‘Wanted’, Sallu is making sure that he doesn`t touch any bad projects.”

Also the script of his upcoming film ‘Dabangg’ was looked into by the expert team.

Our Maestro Ilaiyaraaja has composed the music to Amitabh Bachchan’s up coming movie Paa. This songs came out recently.They are rocking the Bollywood audience. Maestro’s melodies mesmerizing the music lovers.

Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Baalan are the other lead cast to this movie. R.Balki who is big fan to Ilaiyaraaj is the director to this movie. For his first movie Cheeni Kum also Ilaiyaraaja has composed the music but not lived up to the mark.

Carl Rinsch may not be directing the “Alien” prequel. But he’s got a pretty good alternative.

The commercials director, who had been loosely attached to the reboot of the sci-fi franchise, has landed the gig to helm “47 Ronin,” the samurai pic that’s set up at Universal with producers Scott Stuber and Pamela Abdy.

“Ronin” centers on a group of 18th century samurai who set out to avenge the death of their master. Keanu Reeves is attached to star in the film. Chris Morgan, who counts “Fast & Furious” and “Wanted” among his writing credits, penned the screenplay.

The CAA-repped Rinsch is the commercials wunderkind who made his name directing spots, many with futuristic themes, for the likes of Mercedes and Heineken.

He had originally been reported as attached to “Alien,” but reports later broke that Fox preferred Ridley Scott direct it himself (he had been on board only to produce). While there is no official word on “Alien,” Rinsch now likely won’t direct the prequel.

Wanted – ein unterhaltsamer, aber völlig unrealistischer Film. Die Story ist schon dreimal an den Haaren herbeigezogen: eine “Bruderschaft” die seit Jahrtausenden Menschen umbringt, damit die Welt besser wird. Wer umgebracht werden soll, wird von einem Webstuhl und dessen Webfehlern bestimmt.

Wer die Tricks, die James Bond drauf hat, schon nicht glaubt, der wird hier noch mehr strapaziert .  Menschen, die 50 m weit von einem Hochhaus zum anderen springen, andere, die einer Fliege die Flügel abschießen können, usw. Pistolen – Kugeln, die im Bogen fliegen und das Schulen der angeblichen “Technik” die das möglich macht gehört zu einem roten Faden, der sich durch den ganzen Film zieht. Als i – Tüpfelchen gibt es eine Szene in der mit einer einzigen Kugel 6 Personen erschossen werden, die in einem Kreis stehen, der ~20 m Durchmesser hat. Inklusive der Person, die die Kugel abgefeuert hat. Die Kugel hat einen kompletten Kreis geflogen! Wow! Kugeln, zerlegen sich im Flug in Stufen wie eine Rakete (wozu eigentlich?) usw…. Fahrer, die mit Autos Kunstflug – Figuren vorführen, bei denen jedes Akrobatik-Flugzeug vor Neid erblassen würde, runden das Bild ab.

Wer sich an so etwas nicht stört und solche Filme mit einem Schmunzeln gucken kann, der wird einen sehr unterhaltsamen Abend mit tollen Effekten erleben.

THE LORRAINE TIPTON CASE

Lorraine Tipton was sentenced to 30 days in jail and taken into immediate custody. Judge David Miron, of Marinette County, Wisconsin Circuit Court, says that Lorraine will continue to serve consecutive sentences as long as her 11 year old daughter refuses to visit her alcoholic and abusive father.

Furthermore, Lorraine’s daughter is not able to visit her mother in jail as long as she remains in the care and protection of her step-father because he is not allowed to take her to the jail, and she cannot go on her own. It looks like the judge thinks that a mother trying to protect her child from sexual abuse, endangerment, torment, and neglect is a danger to both her community and to her own child.

After being charged with a DUI and thought to be endangering the child, the girl’s father was ordered by the court to stay sober during his visitation time with his daughter. Despite the court order, he continues to drive his daughter around while he is under the influence. On Friday November 7, a day when the father was supposed to have visitation with his daughter, he was seen out drinking at one of the local bars. Visitation was not withheld from the father.

On the contrary, the father was apparently too busy drinking to go and pick his daughter up from school. Judges wonder why people violate their court orders. We wonder why judges force parents to send their children back into a situation in which they must know there is immediate risk of harm.

Judge Miron apparently believes that a substantiated CPS report of sexual abuse, along with reports from the child of being force fed her own vomit, and having nowhere to sleep at her father’s house except on the living room floor or in an unfinished basement, does not pose a threat of immediate harm. What are the child’s rights in this case? According to Judge Miron, she has the right to know that her mother has been dragged off to jail and punished for protecting her.

She also enjoys the right to be put at risk with no one watching or caring what happens to her. Judge Miron says that Tipton is “poisoning” her daughter against her father and coaching her daughter in what to report. Yet when the child was brought, by her father, to an interview with The Child Advocacy Center she gave the exact same testimony of abuse and neglect that she had previously given. In fact, she even told the interviewers that her father had instructed her to lie to them.

After the interview, it was strongly suggested to Tipton that she get an order of protection, and she was told that CPS was going to file a CHIPS petition (Child in Need of Protection). So, Judge Miron, which parent is really doing the “poisoning” and coaching of the child? The judge has also told Lorraine Tipton that she should not worry about her child being driven around in the car of a father who is under the influence, because the father was warned not to do it again. Only in family court is a victim of crime placed in the care of the perpetrator who has simply been told by the court not to do it again.

Ms. Tipton is being punished for refusing to force her child to go and stay with her father. Had the identical information been presented about the “neighbor 3 doors down”, or any other stranger, Ms. Tipton would be considered negligent if she allowed the child to go with them again. What mother or father would willingly send a child off to be driven around by a neighbor who had been convicted of a DUI and warned by the judge the stay sober when children were around? What parent rests easy when their child is reporting graphic accounts of sexual abuse? What mother listens to her child talk of forcibly being made to eat her own vomit and simply lets it go?

Apparently, the family courts apply different rules to the negligent and abusive behavior of a neighbor and the same negligent and abusive behavior of the child’s very own parent, with whom he/she must reside for significant periods of time. At very least, what is appropriate and inappropriate, and by which party, is subject to the discretion of a single family court judge, regardless of his bias.

Furthermore, if these reports were made by the child against the mother, Ms. Tipton might well be deemed, by this very same judge, as unfit. If this was criminal court, and these acts were committed by a neighbor, the neighbor would be punished and kept where he or she could not do this to a child again.

Ms. Tipton’s rights and responsibilities to protect her child are being thwarted by the very system designed to protect children. Should decisions as life-altering as these be left up to the sole interpretation of one family court judge? And should Judge Miron’s final decision in this case be considered an “interpretation” of the law or an “abuse” of the law? Should protective parents be punished and jailed if they refuse to put their children at risk?

If the child were to be seriously and/or permanently harmed will this judge be held responsible for aiding and abetting child abuse? The real tragedy is that these children lose their entire childhoods when judges won’t protect them. Is this what the state of Wisconsin wants for its children?
