Como lo dice el titulo, hace un mes aproximadamente que empeze a jugar WoW. Y apenas soy un lvl 50, el pronostico dictaminaba que ya deberia de haber sido 60. Con toda la ayuda y equipo que tengo.

Sin embargo, gracias a mi novia, los amigos, la universidad, entre otros, no me he enviciado tanto. Para eso son las vacaciones, que si todo sale bien este viernes 4 de Diciembre sera mi ultimo dia de clases.

Bueno como antes lo habia mensionado, mi otro spec de mi Druida es Restoration. Con lo cual con solo decir healer LFG, y ya estoy en un dungeon. Hoy de nuevo fui a Zul’Farrak con Catzum, un chavo de mi Guild, y otros dos tipos de otra guild. Nos fue bien, nada mas el Catzum se me murio como 3 veces porque seguia quitandole el hate al tank. De ahi en mas healee como el FSM manda.

The system for the T10 gear has been confirmed a week or so back. Its a two step process, greatly simplified from the t8 and t9 method.

First you purchase the T10a using Emblems of Frost, then you upgrade this item with a special drop from the new instances. This means that causal layers can get the base t10 item, but you need the extra drop to get the best item. Basically 251 for casuals, and 264 for raiders.

I really like this. Two levels that expand on each other, and a way to get good gear for grinds, and then better gear when you get lucky, or spend your dkp.

This is the best thing I’ve heard about the new patch yet.

So, it’s the day after Thanksgiving.. Black Friday, if you will.. and I am at work doing a live shot about how much fun all the regular people get to have on their OFF DAY shopping at the mall. I’m actually a TV news reporter IRL. The news never takes a holiday so I worked yesterday and today. I missed all the sales and had what was probably the worst turkey day ever. I didn’t get to see my family. I had to work. I was supposed to be fed at work FOR FREE. They usually have a nice spread, but no. They sent me two hours away shortly after I got in. So I missed the free meal and ended up spending $14 on a terrible meal from Golden Corral. The turkey meat was processed. The dressing was horrible. The cranberry sauce? I had to scrape it out of the bottom of the container. So I didn’t eat it. Obviously that meant a million people had already been through it. The rolls were hard- how the hell do you mess up those rolls? The only thing I had to look forward to was spending time with hubby and the dog… and playing Warcraft when I got home. Ahh, sweet therapy. Kill stuff.

If only the in-game Pilgrim’s Bounty food were real. Roasted turkey, cranberry chutney, spice bread stuffing, sweet potatoes…. YUM. My DK cooked up a bunch last night just to get her cooking skill up. If I had the time this year, maybe I would have attempted the same in real life. Anyhoo.. I am feeling a little better now. I will be a-okay after this live shot and when my weekend begins.

I do have a lot to be thankful for. I am married to a wonderful man who loves me AND my little bitch of a dog. My parents are still married and living and blessed. My sister and her husband are working on a baby! (YAY!) We are all employed and able to meet our needs. And every now and then we get the stuff we want. The last two days, I have not gotten everything I wanted, but I am thankful nonetheless.

And tonight, after I clock out, I’ll go home, spend time with my immediate fam, and then log on. kill stuff. yay.

World of Warcraft: Beyond the Dark Portal, by Aaron Rosenberg and Christie Golden

“Beyond the Dark Portal” is a novelization of the video game Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal. Because it is a novelization, the authors are somewhat limited in what they can do, but all said, it’s a decent novel for Warcraft fans. I found it particularly useful for background on the previous Warcraft games, because while I haven’t played them I have been an avid World of Warcraft player for a few years.

While most of the orcs left their planet to wreck havoc on Azeroth, some remained exiled on Draenor, or escaped back to Draenor through the Dark Portal after their disastrous war with the humans. Ner’zhul, the orc responsible for the corruption of the orcs, plays a starring role as he once again takes control of the remaining orcs on Draenor, reforming the Horde with the intent of finding another planet for the orcs to invade. The heroes of “Tides of Darkness,” the previous book (and video game) in the series – Khadgar and Turalyon, learn of the orcs’ plans and take the Dark Portal to Draenor, intent on stopping Ner’zhul to save Azeroth – and other worlds – from the devastation of the Horde.

I wish Christie Golden had solo written this book, rather than pairing with Aaron Rosenberg. “Beyond the Dark Portal” suffers from some of the same issues as “Tides of Darkness,” which was written by Rosenberg. It’s somewhat one-sided, focusing on the humans, while leaving the orcs as flat villains. The characterization is better, probably due to Golden’s assistance. There’s even a bit of a romance; some happiness amid the carnage. The battle scenes are far from realistic or even possible, with undefined numbers of orcs being killed. The Horde left on Draenor is supposed to be small, but they can’t be too small if they’re getting killed in every chapter. The pacing of travel also seems unrealistic, with both sides covering vast distances in what seems like no time at all.

I enjoy this book because I am a World of Warcraft fan and player. If you’re a WoW player and considering this book, you’ll probably enjoy it as it does give a lead in to The Burning Crusade expansion, and provides some nice background and lore.

Back when I played Wai, hitting 40 meant I could finally get a slow mount. Although it took being run through Scarlet Monestary a couple of times before I had the gold. Nowadays? It means I get an epic mount not only 20 levels earlier but also a lot cheaper. Oh, and an achievement, too, yes please, thank you very much.

Yes, that’s the new, slow saber saber she’s currently riding. Didn’t I mention that she’s exalted with Darnassus? And Stormwind, too? This is what gaming’s about. Relaxing and having fun. Am I enjoying myself? Too right, I am!

For ikke så længe siden startede jeg – på opfordring af min gode ven Anders, som næsten ikke har vist sig på min server siden – endnu en Warcraft-figur, denne gang en små-buttet ork af en shaman, som jeg i et øjebliks fornemmelse af history repeating navngav efter min allerførste WoW-figur, Endeavour. Som er Inspector Morses fornavn. Og jeg var så dum slet ikke at omtale det i bloggen, så derfor ved jeg ikke, hvornår hans fødselsdag er. Men sent i går aftes blev han level 60 – og i eftermiddags indtog han et nyt kontinent, Outland. Og min fornemmelse er, at det er gået pænt hurtigt – pænt meget hurtigere, altså, end det er gået med mine tidligere figurer. Jeg gætter på et par måneder.

Touhou Battle Arena is a Warcraft mod (“custom map”) rendering a battle arena in which players control Touhou characters to fight. I found out about this map a while ago, but was put off because the game is made in Chinese (my English Warcraft can’t read the text). While trying to organize my links yesterday however, I came across its forums, and so I decided to whip out the good’ol Google translator and look into it more deeply.

The effects and designs are extremely well made  for a WC mod, and I believe it even boasts a customizable BGM system as well. I was also astonished to learn that some folks have already begun an English translation project for it, with several of the characters’ skills/abilities already translated. Version 2.05 of the game was released earlier this month, though it seems to be restricted to forumers only. Version 2.02 however, is publicly downloadable. If you’re a 7-year Warcraft veteran like me who’ve tried all of the crappiest maps ever conceived, you’d know how excited I am for this map!

Well, I might as well get this updated now rather than in a week where I will completely forget about it (and probably not update anything)

I recently (read: this morning) updated my UI to be a bit less power hungry. I changed guild this past week and they are a bit more ahead of progression that my last guild and not wanting to make a bad impression, I wanted to be able to see things at the lovely 60fps that I am used to as opposed to the 12fps I am experiencing at times.

I”ll make sure to upload some raiding screenshots, but for now, you can have a picture of my standing in Org. Enjoy!

First of all let me say that I have been playing World of Warcraft since November 2006 and I have loved every minute of it. From the moment I first booted it up and created my human warlock I was hooked. So you can imagine my surprise when I installed Aion on a whim, and shock-horror, found it to be better in almost every way! Now, dont imagine I make this claim lightly. I love everything about WoW – I have read most of the novels, subscribe to the blogs and am a regular on the forums. But no matter how I look at it, there is no escaping the facts – Aion is a more polished and engaging game. In the following paragraphs I will outline the Top 4 Reasons why Aion is better than WoW.

Number One: Graphics

Now  I know this isn’t supposed to be the most important thing, but when you compare the two games side-by-side, WoW really is starting to show its age. Blizzard have done an amazing job ensuring that WoW will operate on a large range of PC’s and laptops. Aion on the other hand utilises much newer technology and ironically runs smoother and faster than WoW on my machine. All this with crisp and detailed graphics which really help immerse the player in the game world. The most appropriate word to describe the graphics in Aion is “stunning”. Unfortunately for WoW, the best I can say is “adequate”.

Number Two: Flying

Both games offer players the chance to see the game world from the air. In WoW a player must level their character to level 60 before sinking some serious gold into learning the flying skill. Again at 70, the price for epic flying is still 5000 gold, with another 1000 gold needed for Cold Weather Flying in the latest expansion. In Aion on the other hand, flying is an integral part of the game mechanics, rather than a gimmicky add-on. Also players learn to fly at level 10(a few hours of playing). Flying is essential in questing, dungeons and also interestingly, PVP.

Number Three: Difficulty

WoW has changed a lot since release and most would say for the better. Quests have become streamlined, elites have been nerfed and things have been made a lot easier to level. This is because the game really starts at max level for PVP and raiding. Now take Aion, which does not focus so much on max level content. The journey is as rewarding as the destination, and competitive world PVP starts at level 25. So while it will take you much longer to level up in Aion compared to WoW, there is a corresponding feeling of achievement due to the feeling of having really “earned” your place in the game.

Number Four: Community

I know this isn’t Blizzard’s fault, but the WoW community tend to be mostly players who have been in the game for a long time now. Aion is brand new, everyone is starting fresh. This means that there is a level playing field to a larger extent than in WoW. No high level mains funding alts, no “heirloom” items to make it faster to level alts. It also means more people want to experience group quest and dungeon content in Aion. Contrast this to current day leveling in WoW, where people are in such a rush to hit max level they skip the low level dungeons and group content.

Believe me when I say it wasn’t easy for me to critique World of Warcraft like that, but there is no avoiding the facts. WoW’s time is coming to an end, though I’m sure the new expansion Cataclysm will drag out its live expectancy for a few months longer. Aion on the other hand is just taking off, and I for one am glad to be in on the ground floor!

There are a lot of articles and posts around about Warcraft’s five year anniversary. I haven’t been playing for five years, but only since the beginning of 2006. This was my first post on this blog, about my very first character, a warlock named Ravven who I raided on for ages as my main before moving over to my hunter Kitsune.

I’ve gone over to the dark side. After months of saying that I wouldn’t, that I was waaaay to busy, I finally set up a Warcraft character. Omigod…this may be the last you ever hear from me.

It’s a human warlock named Ravven (of course). Warlocks can eventually get the cool horses with flaming feet. After hours and hours of play…weeks and months and then I’ll turn into P, whom I never see anymore because of a massive Warcrack addiction.

I’d really not been a serious gamer prior to that time. I loved lan parties and fps games, but I have a terrible problem with motion sickness which limits my ability to play. I have the same problem with many console games. I’d never tried an MMO prior to Warcraft, and had never realised just how immersive and fun it could be. I tried it, admitted that it was actually kind of fun, and then some days later had that realisation (that we all have at some point)  when you stand up from the computer and realise “my god, I’ve been playing for six hours” – something that you could never have imagined previously.

Funny how things turn out. 

Making money on World of Warcraft can be a pain and many hours, but I found this WoW gold guide. Learning has really taken a gargantuan leap from past to present to future. Back then, the adage went that a child should enjoy his childhood days and the little time that was spent in the class was for sitting in front of the background, thumbs twiddling away on the abacus and kids heading over to the computer labs once a week for hourly sessions.

Now, blackboards have been completely replaced by whiteboards or in some cases, giant projector screens while computer labs are no longer the only opportunity for a child to access the Internet.

Moving on to the present day, learning is now centered more on these few things.

1. Gaming

Studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of gaming as a form of learning. From a common sense point of view, playing an interactive game in class with your classmates would definitely beat listening to a teacher droning on and on about a subject

Using World of Warcraft (WoW) as an example, a computer virus affected the game a few years ago and as players started to get into contact with other players, the virus slowly spread. Within one hour, a virtual town was wiped out and within 5 hours from the start of the outbreak, the whole game had been infected. Research was conducted on this outbreak and researchers found that it actually resembled the way an epidemic spreads in the real world, from the contaminations stage to the outbreak stage.

I was walking past Popular the other day and I saw this whole range of learning games for kids… “Law School”, “Business School” etc. Though they didn’t sound terribly appealing to me, much less a kid of 9 years old, at least it’s good to know that such games are out there in the market for kids to explore.

      2. YouTube

Back then, whenever anyone wanted to pick up a new skill, they would have to physically drag themselves down to attend a course. They would have to pay money to attend such a course too (unless they were learning line dancing at a community centre) But now, with the Internet and more specifically, Youtube, one can just recline in their swiveling chairs and learn something from a video.

Also, YouTube can be utilized as a tool by teachers to teach their students. More learning material in the form of videos can be shown. Also, lectures can be recorded and posted online for students to watch and learn at their own pace.

And when we look towards the future, learning will now be based on augmented reality. This allows individuals to be immersed in experiential learning environments. This will be on a scale much greater than just the single individual holding a small device. Imagine walking into a classroom and seeing the epic battles of World War 1 right in front of your eyes. Also, students will be able to hear and actually converse with projected characters. So, if someone wanted to know more about military tactics, they could just turn to Hitler for some tips and tricks. After all, the man did know best.

As we can see from all the above, learning has definitely gotten much more interesting with time. Now, my only regret is that I will no longer be a student when augmented reality is introduced in schools. No swiping of hands in the air in front of me! Or seeing holographic images strolling up and down the aisles in the class.
Well, at least by then, I think augmented reality will be available pretty much elsewhere, so I need not worry about missing this awesome bit of technology.

Now, I’m not all that crazy about mounts, but this one rocks! I mean I was all excited and stuff when I got Attumen’s Horse in Kara (I looked super cool on it in shadowform at the time), but this is a horse that is a gabillion times better than the Headless Horseman’s mount. “The darn thing has wings!” (Some older female players might remember that line from a commercial )

I swear, when his wings went up in this video the first time I saw it, my heart stopped just a little bit.

Scourgewar, the 1st of 3 sets from the newest World of Warcraft (WoW) TCG block is finally out and I have information & pictures of the complete set for you to use!

Scourgewar contains 270 cards broken down into 120 commons, 60 uncommon’s, 60 rare’s, 10 epics & 20 heroes.

Additionally, the latest expansion places heavy emphasis on the class of your hero.  Scourgewar is also the first set to fully integrate the Death Knight class!

The new set will have 3 new keywords as well; Mend for the healing classes, Assault for the DPSers & Deathrattle which allows you to interact with the graveyard.

Well, the server finally came back up last night, bt I had to wait until this morning to get the final pieces to my Pilgrim’s Bounty puzzle. Hubby made a gnome rogue while I got one last Turkey Shooter. After shooting him, he logged on his main- a lvl 80 pally- and we headed to Sethekk Halls. I donned my best pilgrim outfit to defeat Talon King Ikiss, and voila! I got my title! I love titles. I don’t care too much about other achievements, but the holiday events are pretty sweet to me.

After the server did come back up, someone offered to pay me in gold to get The Turkinator for them. Getting that on a different class of toon was difficult for me, but I did it, and he was grateful. My wrists hurt when I was done, LOL, but at least he gets his Pilgrim title, too

Or at least that’s the mail I got from the NPC Minigob Manabonk . I was tabbed out- AT WORK- when it happened, so I totally missed the being sheeped part. I did, however, get an in-game e-mail from Minigob with a handy dandy wand. I used it on some stranger.. and the darn thing went away! The guy was sheeped though, and he targeted me, so i don’t think he was too happy? IDK… fun stuff. Hate I missed it.

It’s the little stuff like this that make the game extra special. Don’t get me wrong. I love raiding, but to have a random NPC interact with me in a different way is pretty cool.

Pues parece que el ganador por mayoría aplastante es…¡Hogger! (Seguido muy de cerca por Mortarion, del cual prefiero no hacer entrevista, o me violará analmente).

Así pues, la próxima Entrevista con olor a trol será a Hogger, y….pues….pues….pues no sé como cojones me las apañaré, la verdá xD
