My brain is already in the state of Panic for these several months…The sequence that exceeds 1000+ is made and huge Sound Making is done.
Production that does Chop as huge as the things, Clark and Prefuse of the production of an expression as direct as Leila and Mira Calix in the time line is done too.

well, I bought a white bloom yesterday. I will raise it in the studio and keep Blank Spirits for making a sounds.

Had this on a couple of old ass jammin’ mixtapes, mostly just the Hard Instrumental but I gotta confess to liking the rhymes on this slice of classic UK Hiphop.

Taken from thewhitenoiserevisited.co.uk – the only info I could get on this track
Originally released on Mark Brydon’s Nottingham-based FON Records (FON stood for ‘Fuck Off Nazis’) in 1989, ‘Hey! Hey! Can You Relate?’ is credited to Mink featuring 2wic-e the Trouble. This track is a fully paid-up member of the proper banger club, with hard as hell breakbeats, an awesome array of funk samples, and 2wic-e the Trouble’s fluid raps. They’re not the greatest MC’s by any stretch of the imagination, but their rhymes work perfectly with the track, and Mink proves himself to be a decent scratch DJ, demonstrating his ample skills towards the end of the track.

One of life’s great mysteries is why ‘Hey! Hey! Can You Relate?’, a brilliant slice of British hip hop from Nottingham’s DJ Mink and 2wic-e the Trouble (aka The K.I.D. and Carruthers), remains the only thing they ever did.

From DJ Razorcuts
“I still have my FON copy of this record… given to me by The KID himself back in 88… I was 17 at the time and was part of the Nottm scene and had worked with other members of the Rock City Crew like Pepse and Trix. DJ Mink was actually from Sheffield and was the younger brother of DJ Mongoose. KID Carruthers, or Lloyd to those that knew him was one of the Rock City crew turned MC and this was the best British hip-hop record I’d ever heard and I think it still is – I still play it out all the time, it rocks, but Hip Hop, especially stuff this hardcore was at the time very minority and most DJs wouldn’t even give the record a listen because it was English, it was tragic. About a year later I heard Lloyd (KID) was into heroin and burglary, which is real sad. Mink got into being a house/rave DJ and did well in the North for some time. I don’t know if either of them know the importance of this record at all.”

I just bought this album, which is the new project of Mark Pritchard (aka Troubleman, Link, N.Y. Connection, Global Communication with Tom Middleton , and Harmonic 33 with Dave Brinkworth). In 1994 released the album 76:14, by Global communication which was voted by the Guardian as the best ambient album of the nineties and of course had a huge influence on many artists. In 2008, Mark Pritchard separed from Dave Brinkworth and the duo Harmonic 33, Then he released his 2 owns EPs at Warp Records, EP1 and Dirtybox, thereafter the album When machines exceed human intelligence. I happilly discovered this album, feeling all the references, like detroit techno, UK 90’s ambient, and abstract hip hop. Some tracks like Galag-A introduce innovatives structures and rythms. I found very interesting Word problems which is kind of an Hip Hop intrumental using sounds closed to 8 bits frequencies, the melody is quite simple but it considerably highlights the rythm and a vocoded voice ponctuates the track and gives it kind of an narrative atmosphere. Hope that makes sense ! Anyway it’s better to listen to it.

There is also a great website made before the album release, it is a game where you can get a free mp3 after the 5th Level !

This review was published this week in CityBeat.

Tyondai Braxton

Central Market
(Warp)
*8.5*

Goes well with: Igor Stravinsky, Mr. Bungle, Looney Tunes

A worthy market not only carries a selection of functional sundries but also an array of candies and trinkets. And Central Market is quite worthy, offering a fusion of rock and classical accented with pitch-bent vocals, whistling, kazoo and even fireworks.

Braxton, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, contributes vocals and guitar to the post-rock outfit Battles and builds loops painted with effects in solo performances. Central Market, his first solo album in seven years, is his most ambitious statement yet. With the help of the Wordless Music Orchestra, a genre-bending ensemble that has collaborated with the likes of Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood, Braxton captures the angular forms of 20th-century composers like Igor Stravinsky.

But while Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” feels dark, Central Market overflows with color. Amid the album’s off-meter grooves, dainty interludes and explosive climaxes, many surprises abound—the flute and lighthearted whistling of opener “Opening Bell,” the wacky vocal stabs and swooping strings of the 10-minute centerpiece “Platinum Rows” and the feverish electronics of finale “Dead Strings.”

By bringing purpose to each bit of grandiloquence, Braxton has written a delightful album with staying power.

* # *

E a Warp faz vinte anos…

(Ruy Gardnier)

* # *

A comemoração procede, portanto.

First, I’d like to see the hands of anyone with a 2 year-old at home… yup! I figured it was a lot! You all are excused from this next bit, then–I’m sure you’ve got your hands full right now, anyway!

For the rest of you, I should explain why I had exactly THIRTY SECONDS from the front door of the studio to my on-air cue. My alarm gets me up roughly two hours before The Good News Show starts. Now, you would think that would give me plenty of time to grab coffee, shower, dress, toss on some make up and get out of the house, right? Aha! That proves you really don’t have a toddler at home ‘Cause now you have to factor in a few minutes on the potty (don’t want to swerve off the learning curve!), a diaper change, playing with the jammy zipper, “helping” with the make up, chatting about what Dolly’s up to, high-level negotiations to determine whether the next few minutes will be occupied with a really big pile of books, or just Piglet and bunny…so, there’s where the time shift happens. Something in clock-land just warps and morphs and kaleidescopes into shiny bits. The Grown-Up Chronoshpere just can’t stand up to Toddler Time!

Well, I DID manage to cue my first song and open my mic on time (that’s Radio Time in this case), and only can pray that the eternal basis for the following hour will place each song, melody, lyric and message into just the right moment.

Here’s this week’s song titles, the artist/group who sang or played the song, and the CD from which I played it:

With the wellies safely back in the garage and Ibiza wrapping things up its time for some urban activities. The safety of 4 walls in the form of D.E.A.F, Dublin’s Electronic Arts Festival is always an appealing event. Now is its 8TH year and running over 10 days with over 300 international and home grown acts. Both breaking and highly recognized artists from the world of bleeps and beats, mixed media, video and art installations. D.E.A.F has pushed the boundaries further this year as Ireland’s u: mack present a WARP record party featuring Tim Exile at the Button Factory on the Bank Holiday Sunday the 25th October.

The legend that is David Rodigan will be playing his very best reggae and roots et all else at the Candy Collective / Choice Cuts event on the 22nd October at Sugar Club.

An intelligent booking with the Candy Collective, graphic designer Vaughan Oliver also talking shop on the night too

There will also be an Irish Record label party at the newly popular venue PYGMALLION on the 24th October featuring Aciitone, D1 Recordings, Elevation, FVF, Mode Music, Nice & Nasty, Psychonavigation, SeedyR, and Stereotonic. A free event from 5 – 3am,

Other acts to watch out for and a favourite of mine – Tim Green, Mark Broom, Cristian Vogel and Irelands Spilly Walker, Jamie Behan and technical techno genius on vinyl Sunil Sharpe. Miss out on this festival and you are missing the essence of it all. For dates and tickets go to www.deafireland.com

Ireland’s Berlin based DANCEPIG aka Dara O Neill is making a return to our shores at WAX venue Dublin on the 10th October. With several releases under his belt and – The Countdown remix has just been released this week online at www.kingnail.com DANCEPIG is a sure bet on a night out for live sets.

Proud as punch DJ / Producer Dave De Valera has just had his ep ‘Say That’ signed to club66 Records with remixes coming in from Brian Taaffe, Def Disko and LOKO whom has also remixed Aki Bergen. De Valera’s ep will be available in November. Also on the 20th November Dave will be playing at MINISTRY OF SOUND in the UK.

Ben Watts performed a very memorable set at Twisted Pepper some months back so if it is something similar to this you are after then check out the BUZZIN FLY parties back in the basement of PLASTIC PEOPLE in East London with the labels own Chris Woodward will be spinning the typical BUZZIN FLY sound.

German DJ / Producer Gregor Tresher is releasing his album The Life Wire at the end of October on his self owner label Break New Soil. Both Laurent Garnier and Ritchie Hawtin and Ivan Smagghe (come to Ireland soon Ivan!) are showing serious love for his work. Top track on the album and one to definitely get hold of is The Very End, remixes of this track due to follow the album release

Dance music with a greater conscience is The Resistance Tour – a traveling party with a mission visiting some of Europe’s most exiting club nights and venues through out the autumn.

Resistance DJs are Arveene (Clampdown) and DJ Wool (Plant NYC) will be joined on stage by some of Europe’s hottest DJs and emerging local talent. Their mission is not only to play great electronic music but to high light TOBACCO as a product with no discernible attributes, other than the addictive qualities of some of its constituents. Why is this drug still on the market they ask you when other drugs are prohibited? Corporations continue to drain massive wealth and power and convince individuals to voluntarily addict themselves. These events are being organized in conjunction with www.help-eu.com and the European Union. Catch the tour in Berlin 2nd Oct at the Magnet Club www.magnet-club.de and then onto Rotterdam 3rd October: Off The Wall at Factory 10 www.factory010.nl

DFA’s duo STILL GOING have a new release out beginning of October called Spaghetti Circus / Untitled Love… top tune with pianos, synths and vocals coming from Reggie Watts and Andrew Rapposo on bass (formerly of Hercules and Love Affair). Another anthem for the duo and a long and worth while wait for this one too since their last release in 2007 the Still Going Theme.

We await their arrival in Ireland as they have not yet made an appearance on the circuit here. ? Any takers?

Something a little different coming to Ireland under Rap Ireland crew is Wu Tang’s RZA on October 8th at Button Factory while Tinchey Stryder is their guest in PortRush’s Lush Nightclub on the 27th October, A promoter who appears to be gaining strength over the last year.

In the next edition of Hot Press I will be taking a look at the best Halloween events to attend but one worth giving a mention now for fear of it being sold out is SHINE in Belfast who will be celebrating its 14th birthday on the 31st of October.

Spread over 3 rooms with DJ Sneak, Alan Simms, Pendulum, Jesse Rose and Belfast man Timmy Stewart. The rest of the country has a lot to compete with on this one… but more on that next issue…

Catch Claire on DECKS AND THE CITY Friday nights on www.powerfm.org 11 -1am

(TF)

* # *

(Thiago Filardi)

* # *

Aí os projetos se reúnem e criam esse Broadcast and the Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age. Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age. Para os interessados em conhecer Broadcast, recomendamos o EP Work and Non-Work e Haha Sound, a provável obra-prima do grupo. Jamais esse aqui. (Ruy Gardnier)

* # *

(Bernardo Oliveira)
