Bland annat har jag flyttat runt på lite blommor, så dom ska trivas bättre =)

Fr.v. Monstera, Zebra-aloe(i min värld heter den “dinosarie-plantan”), en liten svärmorstunga, en taggig aloe och längst till höger en större svärmorstunga =)
Jag har flyttat bort två stycken paraplyaraleor, som har lite för tunna blad för att fixa värmen i ett söderfönster som detta, och istället har mina två favoriter, monsteran och “dinosarie-plantan” fått flytta in i sovrummet =)

Jag har aldrig riktigt förståt tjusningen med orkidéer, förrän jag köpte två stycken förra veckan.

Den här skönheten heter Phalaenopsis. Jag har även en fjärilsorkidée som har små, söta, gula blommor =)

Jag misstänker skarpt att jag kommer bli med fler blommor inom kort. Vill ha nån orkidée till och skulle gärna ha nån Monstera till.
Monsterorna kan bli enormt stora! Mitt ex Matija hade en enorm monstera som nådde ända upp i taket(2,40 m) och säkert hade en diameter på mellan 1,5 och 2 meter =) Det va ingen blomma, det va ett träd!

Nu ska jag diska färdigt innan det e dags att bege sig till jobbet. Kanske hinner jag äta en god lunch/middag innan också =)

Myser av fina “Warwick Avenue” med Duffy som spelas på radion just nu… Kram kram!

Eg White is pretty much unknown.  Well, have you heard of him?

Initially he and his brother were in an 80’s band called Brother Beyond who had a number two hit with “the harder I try”.

He left the band and in 1991 released a masterpiece with Alice Temple (as Eg and Alice) called 24 years of hunger.  It is one of my favourite pop recrords of all time.  Beautiful, poignant and with superbly crafted electronic songs.

We’ve had to wat 18 years for its follow up, Adventure man, which I discovered in the secondhand section at Avalanche late last week.

But he hasn’t been posted missing totally, initially joining the Stock, Aitken and Waterman writing team in the late 80’s he has penned hits for Alison Moyet, Duffy, adele, Sophie Ellis Bexter, James Morrison, James blunt (rhymes with….), Emilianna Torrini.

He wrote ‘Chasing Pavements’ for Adele (the stand out track on her excellent album) as well as Warwick Avenue (the stand out track on Duffy’s debut.)

So the boy can write.  (indeed he’s won a bunch of Ivor Novello’s)

And me, well I think he can sing too.  On Adventure Man things pretty much take up where ‘24 years’ left off.  He doesn’t have a classic voice, it’s a bit on the thin side but it’s the songs that count and in ‘But California’,’ Broken‘ and ‘My People’ he has three songs that will finish the year among the top of the year.

But you know what?  Unless you do something about it he will remain in public obscurity whilst being a megastar industry-side.

Aimée Ann Duffy, tem 25 anos e com apenas um Álbum, Rockferry já alcançou o primeiro lugar nas paradas de vários países. Rockferry foi lançado em 2008 e concorreu com Viva la Vida do Coldplay e com Amy Winehouse, nomes de peso e já muito conhecidos. Com o seu estilo Soul, seu aspecto delicado, voz forte e rouca essa moça galesa conquistou boa parte das vendas ano passado com mais de 4 milhões de cópias vendidas.
Os críticos explicam o sucesso de Duffy devido ao estilo Soul, em alta nos últimos tempos. Particularmente, eu gostei muito do timbre da voz dela e a maneira como ela conduz cada nota deixando um quê de delicadeza.

Im Vorfeld wurde Duffy immer wieder mit Amy Winehouse verglichen. Das hatte bei vielen (auch bei mir) zu Folge, dass man wirklich ein zweites Back To Black erwartete. Ist natürlich hanebüchener Unsinn. Während Amy Winehouse eher die Billy Holiday und Motown Fans anspricht, ist Duffy eher mit Dusty Springfield vergleichbar. Man sollte sich also von dem Vergleich freimachen, sonst wird das mit dem Album nichts. Für mich beginnt das Album eigentlich erst ab dem Stück Serious. Was danach folgt ist wirklich ganz groß und macht richtig Spaß. Selbstredend sind Warwick Avenue und Rockferry keine schlechten Stücke (man schaue sich die Songstruktur von Rockferry einmal genauer an – tolle Idee). Ein wenig störend ist eigentlich nur Duffys oft piepsige Stimme, die in den Höhen ab und zu unangenehm schneidet. Macht aber nichts, denn alles in allem haben wir es mit einem tollen Album zu tun, dass es zwar nicht mit Amy Winehouse aufnehmen kann (schon wieder dieser Vergleich!) aber dennoch durch Kreativität überzeugen kann. Duffy möchte sich übrigens in Richtung Mariah Carey weiterentwickeln. Bleibt zu hoffen, dass das nur ein Witz war. Ach ja: Delayed Devotion ist der Hammer!

Elbow also won last year’s Mercury Music Prize last year

Indie band Elbow are celebrating a double win at the Ivor Novello awards, including the main award for best song.

The group, who claimed last year’s Mercury Prize, triumphed with One Day Like This while Grounds For Divorce won best contemporary song.

The Ting Tings and Duffy also picked up Ivor Novello awards, which honour excellence in music writing.

Winners of special achievement awards included electro pioneer Vince Clarke and Motown legend Smokey Robinson.

Dance music veterans Massive Attack and Scottish singer-songwriter Edwyn Collins also won special awards.

‘Fierce opposition’

Picking up Elbow’s first award for best contemporary song – beating songs by Dizzee Rascal with Calvin Harris, and The Ting Tings – lead singer Guy Garvey said: “It’s a great honour against fierce opposition with some great songs.”

Returning to the stage at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel for the main prize, he added: “This is really something else.

“I’m gonna talk about being in the band for a moment.

“We’ve got this great support surrounding us from our friends and family but, on a personal note, I’d like to say that, if nothing else ever happens to me in my life, these four boys have made the whole thing worth every single second.”

Picking up her award for most performed work Mercy alongside co-writer Steve Booker, Duffy thanked those who had helped shape her career.

“I was a girl from Wales, I did not know what music was.

“I knew I had a set of pipes and that would get me a frigging long way.”

‘Quite scary’

Eg White, who co-wrote hits including Adele’s Chasing Pavements and Warwick Avenue by Duffy, said it was “very exciting” to win the award for the “fun, fast, quite scary” art of songwriting.

Manchester band The Ting Tings could not pick up their award because they were touring Europe, while Coldplay were unable to claim their best-selling British song gong for Viva La Vida because they are on tour in the US.

Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, who won best original film score for There Will Be Blood, was also absent.

It was left to the veterans, instead, to show how to deliver a speech.

Smokey Robinson, 69, told the audience he had flown to the UK for one day to pick up his special international award.

“I think creativity is a gift from god – some people get gifts from god.

“For everybody in this room, creativity is your gift and it’s what you get.”

He said song writing “just happens”.

“It could be in your car or in the toilet and something comes. Sometimes it’s a song.”

‘Pretty arrogant’

Meanwhile, Vince Clarke, who has had hits with acts including Depeche Mode, Yazoo, The Assembly and Erasure, simply said it was “a real honour to get this award”.

Organisers said it was the first time in his 30-year career that Clarke, 48, who won the outstanding song collection gong, had turned up to pick up an award.

The biggest applause of the ceremony was reserved for Edwyn Collins, 49, formerly of 1980s Glaswegian band Orange Juice and best known for 1994 hit A Girl Like You.

Collins, who walked to the stage with a walking stick to pick up the inspiration award, suffered two brain haemorrhages in 2005 before spending a further six months in hospital after a surgical scar became infected with the MRSA bug.

He said that when he was in Orange Juice he was “a pretty arrogant man, but not any more”.

He added: “I’m writing away, 10 new songs at the moment and it truly is fantastic.

“It’s good to be back. Cheers for the special award.”

Bristol dance music collective Massive Attack won the outstanding contribution to British music award.

Founding member 3D – real name Robert Del Naja – said it was “dishonest” to stand on the stage without the many singers they had collaborated with.

They include Shara Nelson, on anthemic 1991 hit Unfinished Sympathy, and Everything But the Girl singer Tracey Thorn on 1995’s Protection.

This year’s fellowship award went to veteran lyricist Don Black, 70, who co-wrote hits including Born Free and Diamonds Are Forever, as well as musicals including Aspects of Love and Bombay Dreams.

An audience of songwriters, record company executives and pop stars included Damon Albarn, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Rolf Harris.

Have you noticed how perception changes everything? I can’t possibly stress this enough. Everything passes. Two weeks or so ago I had a very awkward state of mind and even the rain managed to totally bug me. Today I caught a good state of mind, although the day wasn’t great, and the rain seemed lovely. Same rain. Different perception. Everything passes.

I sometimes have moments when I realize that THIS IS IT. Do you ever have them? You probably do. It usually happens to me in the bathtub, where again I get most of my quacky ideas. When I just gather some water in the palm of my hand and let it pour out of it. That is IT. That is the moment I’m living then. There’s no other moment, everything else is illusion. Everything else is subject to change, right that very moment… Except for the water pouring from my palm. Except for the candle light. Only something drastic could change those right that moment. They are real and they are there. And that is the second that you’re living.

Your mind wanders off to nowhere land, your brain asks silly questions, your body wonders if it could feel any better or worse, but that is what a MOMENT is.

It’s so clear that it could be caught in a painting or a picture. A MOMENT in time.

And when I get to Warwick Avenue… Sigh… Meet me by the entrance of the tube… When I get to Warwick Avenue, we’ll spend an hour but no more than two. Our only chance to speak once more…

Cântăreaţa asta mă înnebuneşte ! I-am ascultat în mare parte melodiile de pe primul album, Rockferry, şi toate sunt super bune, cântate perfect. Partea proastă e că sunt melodii dinalea ce-ţi intră în cap şi rămân acolo, pe fundal, zile întregi.

Ultimul hit – “Rain on Your Parade”. Mai recomand “Distant Dreamer“, “Warwick Avenue” sau “Stepping Stone“.

Já encheu o saco, né?! rs
Mas é que eu não podia deixar de colocar três dos momentos mais marcantes, da cenográfia e produção mais bem feitos e mais lindos da premiação.
São eles:
Duffy, que levou os troféus de melhor artista feminina, revelação e de melhor álbum, cantando a triste balada Warwick Avenue.

O trio Kings of Leon, que ganhou o troféu de melhor álbum internacional, por ”Only By The Night”, e que também foi reconhecido como o melhor grupo internacional, cantando ”Use Somebody” (essa da vontade de ficar cantando jundo na hora do ”OoOoOoOo” e levantar as mãos pra cima batendo palmas frenéticamente).

E pra encerrar…Esse que pra mim foi um dos melhores espetáculos/apresentação, já executados em uma ceriônia de apresentação. Coldplay, que concorriam para melhor disco e estava entre os favoritos, mas acabou saindo do prêmio com as mãos vazias, cantando o hino, ”Viva La Vida”.

Um show de uma ótima organização, poesia e produção…Eu definitivamente pago pau pra Inglaterra!
