One may have awakened by one’s alarm this morning and begun to clean the bathroom.  Around 3:20 AM, one may have read the Spirit of Prophecy Bulletin.  One may have been most pleased and thought it was a most awesome message.  Thank you Jesus.

One proceeded back to one’s prayer closet and finished cleaning.  One started at with songs of praise to the Lord.  One may have confessed one’s sins and talked to the Lord about some things that have been on one’s mind.

One prayed for the sick and then asked the Lord to lead one to a passage in the Bible.  One may have been led to Daniel 12.

One may have left one’s prayer closet and logged onto the website to pray for outstanding prayer requests.

First of all, congratulations to Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson on winning Dancing With The Stars last week. Their freestyle in the final was amazing, and would, I think, have won them the contest by itself, although I still think that Donny was pulling in the most votes for most of the contest.

This dance captured Donny’s personality perfectly, and allowed him to perform to his fullest, so it never really looked like Kym was holding back too much. I feel a little bad for Mya and Dmitry, but their freestyle was not as good. She may have been the technically better dancer, and in some seasons that has been enough (yes Kristi Yamaguchi, I mean you) but she started on a different level and didn’t improve at all. It wasn’t all her fault, Dmitry made some bad choices with the choreography, but I think that if they had spent more time refining her already very good technique, and less on crowd-pleasing/judge baiting routines, she would have got more support. I just don’t know if it would have been enough to derail the Osmond train. At the start of the season, I was unconvinced about him, mainly due to my memories of Marie, but he won me round. Kym is now appearing on Burn The Floor on Broadway with Maks, and I would love to see that come over here and tour, as the chances of me getting to New York any time soon are tiny!

So, back to Strictly. This week, the remaining couples performed one of two new dances, Charleston or Rock and Roll, plus a group competition Viennese Waltz. Overall, it appears the Charlestons were more popular, as the two couples dancing Rock and Roll ended up in the dance off. I must admit, I found the Charlestons more entertaining, but we only had two Rock and Rolls to choose from, which skewed things a little, for me. This was never going to be a great dance for Natalie and Vincent, because much emphasis is given to the aerial elements, ie throws, lifts and drops. Whilst Natalie claimed this was hard for them, being the same height, that really wasn’t the problem. Rachel Stevens was about an inch or so shorter than Natalie, but she and Vincent managed some beautiful lifts in their AS and Argentine Tango last year, with a similar height difference.  For me, this was a failing of the outside choreographers. Rock and Roll should be fun to watch, so they should have found a way for Natalie to lift Vincent. There were a few clips on It Takes Two showing him trying and failing to do forward rolls and cartwheels, but the experts should have come up with something they could do. The routine they ended up with was sticky, flat and not nearly as entertaining as it should have been, and that was only in part due to the execution.

Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe were also criticised for a lacklustre routine, but Ricky has written on his blog that he did not get the time with the main choreographers that the other couples did, and a few hours before the show, when they finally saw them, he and Natalie were instructed to tone down their routine. If that was the case, I feel bad for them. If the show wishes to introduce new dances and the pro dancers need help, then they should get it equally if they want it. I thought the judges were harsh on Ricky, but at the same time, his dance-off performance was miles better than the original. I think it would be risky to deduce that he has no public support from his dance off appearance this weekend – he had a bad week in terms of PR, no appearance on ITT, and a lacklustre first performance. In addition, the fact that he has been safe every other week may have influenced voters. I think the show would be much poorer without him, as he is by far the most versatile dancer they currently have.

For the Charlestons, my favourite by far was Chris and Ola’s. It wasn’t technically perfect, but it was so much fun to watch. Karen Hardy was on BBC Breakfast today, and she thought had Chris danced later in the show, he probably would have got a 10. Ali and Brian’s dance, whilst technically very good, didn’t have the originality that Chris and Ola’s did, which may have been a failing of the ‘experts’ but I thought the judges over-marked her for finally showing a bit of personality. Laila and Anton were better than I expected, although I admit to having very low expectations, but she had a strange, almost bored look on her face for a lot of it, which I can’t decide if was her acting the part or just trying to remember the routine. If I had been ranking them, I’d have gone for Chris, Laila then Ali, but I am not a judge, just a viewer.

The group competitive VW was very hard to watch, as we obviously only got to follow whoever the camera was on at any one time, so we are required to defer to the judges more than may be usual for this dance. I disagree with their outcome though, as Brian and Ali clearly collided with Ricky and Natalie toward the end, and Brian should have had the ability to avoid that. Given that the two remaining males were required to lead the dance, whilst the girls had to follow, I find it quite shocking that the judges believed Ali and Brian to be the best, and gave her a perfect score. I believe Ricky did the best job, and I would have put Chris and Laila second, followed by Ali and then Natalie.

I agree that the correct celebrity was eliminated, on the dance off performance alone, Ricky danced his socks off, whilst Natalie was really no better than first time around.

This week, we have two individual dances, for the first time since weeks 1 and 2. Chris and Ola have Waltz and Samba (eek!), Ali and Brian have Tango and Samba, Ricky and Natalie have Foxtrot and Cha Cha Cha, whilst Laila and Anton have American Smooth and Salsa. There is quite the possibility for a disaster for all four couples. Samba is a fiendishly hard dance, it’s rarely done well on Strictly and I’m not sure if Ola has ever danced this. Plus, if they get help from James, it’s not been a great dance for him in the past. Their waltz should be fabulous though.I don’t think either of Ali’s dances will suit her – Samba because it’s going to be out of her comfort zone, and I think her latin so far has all been overrated, and Tango because it requires an attitude she hasn’t yet shown – she grimaced her way through the Paso with the prevoius foot injury, which makes it hard to compare.

Ricky’s foxtrot should be very good, but he’ll probably get his pigeon toes pointed out again,  while he is likely to be the only one to go a really good latin with his Cha Cha Cha. Laila’s American Smooth could be great, but might suffer from being overhyped, in the same way their VW did, whilst the less I consider their Salsa the better. If she decides she doesn’t like it, then I expect it will rival the Samba and Jive for awfulness, but will probably be blamed on Anton again. She hasn’t yet done a good latin dance, in my opinion – she forgot half of the Jive, the Samba was woeful, there were lifts in the Paso, and she stopped in the Rumba, which she also didn’t like. I am half expecting another injury late on Friday/early Saturday.

I feel that the mystery in this season surrounding Inazami and the Mitaka documents are not as interesting as the events in the first season. Although I’m still liking the action set pieces despite Hei not being able to use his contractor powers. I find that I’m only watching this show for the animation, action, and occasional moments of character development.

Well, if I could afford Tivo, I would really like to rewind this commercial when it comes on so I could have a second chance at finding the joke.  Seriously, I miss it every time.  Those folks over at Geico must do a really good job hiding it because I’m almost convinced there actually is no joke.

Anyways, I guess the whole point of this commercial is to show you how much money you could be saving if you switched to Geico.  What confuses me is this little money stack with eyes is supposed to represent that “money which could have been saved” but since you would have already spent that money with your other insurance company, does that mean that that money stack with eyes is a ghost of your spent money?  It would have to be a ghost because if it was physically there, then that would mean you never spent that money on the other insurance company.  And if you never spent it on the other insurance company, then you just took out a stack of money for no fucking reason and glued eyes on it, not saving anything.  Mindfuck.  But that’s just looking too far into a commercial that doesn’t deserve any type of thought.  Not only is this commercial incredibly unfunny, the song played at the end is like a parasite that latches on to your brain and forces you to replay that song over and over and over until you finally manage to forget it.  And as soon as you do, another one of this fucking stupid commercials comes on.  I really don’t have anything else to say about it because my brain has suffered enough from watching them let alone talking about them.

Verdict:  Geico cavemen are funnier, and that’s not saying much

Is this series of Strictly Come Dancing cursed? It’s certainly a possibility, as the show has been plagued by events outside of the producers’ immediate control:

• Phil Tufnell’s injured knee
• Ali’s stubbed toe
• Jade’s torn ligament
• Laila’s twisted ankle
• Ali’s bruised foot
• and now, Ricky Whittle has been arrested in Liverpool, and is still in custody, after an incident involving a paparazzi and a car.

There have also been issues which have detracted from the show, but were to some degree within the producers’ control, such as the Arlene/Alesha row, the scheduling row, the Laila/Anton row and the whole Craig Kelly Blackpool thing, plus a couple of their headline names turning out to be less capable than expected. In most of these situations, I feel sorry for the producers, because they are constantly being put in no-win situations, usually by the Daily Fail and the Murdoch papers, who want to paint the show in as bad a light as possible, but in some cases the production team have been slow to react, and seem to have resorted to burying their heads in the sand.

Anyway, hopefully we will have a show tomorrow night, and hopefully we’ll see all five remaining dancers perform. Ali is off her crutches and training again, so the midweek hysterics about what to do if she couldn’t dance would seem to have been resolved. As long as she appears on stage, the judges will make bagfuls of allowances for her, so she should be ok. The new dances for this week are Charleston and Rock and Roll, with Ali, Laila and Chris dancing Charleston and Ricky and Natalie C dancing Rock and Roll. There will also be a competitive Viennese Waltz, where all five couples will take the floor at the same time, in an unchoreographed dance. The couples will be judged against each other for additional points, although it has not yet been confirmed exactly how the scores will work.

This will be a tough test for Ricky and Chris, as the males are expected to lead, and will be required to avoid collisions with the other couples, whilst still allowing the judges to see enough of their dance to be impressed. Now, Chris let slip on It Takes Two last night that he had been leading in their VW last week, as he got a bit carried away and threw in a few more pivots, so this may be a good indicator. Fingers crossed!

A new liturgical year begins this coming Sunday, November 29, 2009, with the First Sunday of Advent. The Season of Advent consists of the four Sundays before Christmas. The liturgical color for Advent is purple or sometimes blue. We will begin a new liturgical cycle of seasons, feasts and fasts, and scripture lessons. This year the gospel will focus on the Gospel according to Luke with The Gospel according to John interspersed throughout the year but primarily in the Easter season.

The liturgical cycle is not, however, simply about passing time. The liturgical cycle tells the story of God’s life in the world. But it is more than just reciting the story. We are participants in the story not simply spectators or listeners. It is a ritual re-living of the life of Christ. Liturgy is the means by which we tell, live, and experience the story. It becomes real. It becomes our story not in the sense that we own it but in the sense that the liturgical cycle tells the story of our lives.

It has been said that liturgy is humanity’s yearning for God and grace is God’s yearning for humanity. Liturgically, this story of holy yearning—God’s and ours—begins in Advent. Advent means coming or to come. Advent is really about two comings. It is waiting and watching for the coming of the Christ child—new life, new birth, new hope coming into our world and our lives. It is the fulfillment of God’s promises. It is also waiting and watching for the coming of the eschaton—the end times when the fullness of God’s kingdom will be present. These are both future events and at the same time a present reality. They are already and not yet. Both of these advents are about the coming together of humanity and divinity.

The four Sundays of Advent are too often seen as the countdown to Christmas, as the time when we get things ready for Christmas. Santa Clause has been out since well before Halloween. Shopping lists are growing and the number of shopping days is shrinking. Menus are being planned. Travel is being arranged. Families are gathering. Expectations and hopes are growing. The countdown is well underway. Trees need decorating and presents need wrapping. Somewhere in all that is the stuff of everyday life – work, school, car pool, sports, paying bills, and running errands. There is so much to do and time is running out. The temptation is to live a “hurry-up, get busy, Christmas is almost here,” Advent. That is not the liturgical understanding of Advent. That kind of Advent can only lead to a “hurry-up, get to church, open the presents, take down the tree, Christmas is over,” Christmas.

The four Sundays of Advent are not the time when we prepare for Christmas but the time in which we are being prepared for Christmas. Advent is a time when the Church stands up in the face of the busyness of life, shopping, parties, cooking, traveling, and decorating and asks us to slow down, be still, and be quiet. We are to keep awake, looking and listening for the God who is always coming to us. We are called to prepare the way of the Lord. We watch and reflect on who we are. We look for the Christ in all the unexpected places – in the stuff of everyday life, in the poor, the hungry, and the needy. We live with expectancy and anticipation of God’s presence in our lives. We wait for the angelic messenger that promises us that the womb of our humanity will bear a child named Jesus.

That is hard work any time but especially in one of the busiest times of the year which may just mean it is even more necessary. Advent reminds us that waiting and watching are holy work. So how do we do this? Silence is the key. Silence is a way of waiting, a way of watching, and a way of listening to what is going on within and around us. We come to self-knowledge through stillness and silence, through attentiveness and watchfulness.

The desert mothers and fathers knew well the practice of waiting and watching. Abba Arsenius said he heard a voice say, “Arsenius, flee; be silent, pray always.” And Abba Poeman said, “Be watchful inwardly; and be watchful outwardly.” These practices are not just for the ancient desert dwellers. Living as we do in a culture of excessive distraction, noise, busyness, comfort, and instant gratification the wisdom of the desert should not be ignored.

So I wonder what we would discover if for the Season of Advent we took five minutes, ten minutes, thirty minutes even an hour each day to just sit in silence and stillness waiting and watching. What would the Coming One show us, say to us?

Right now I’m on a break and don’t work online anymore. I have to take care of some projects for my masters program which I’ll finish this summer and make some work papers for some colleagues that are smaller than me. Well, it’s not that I fully enjoy doing this, but it brings me some money, that I don’t do by showing off, but by using my brain.

Being online is sometimes difficult. You gotta have a pretty much joyful and accepting personality to be able to handle all that’s going on in your own free-chat. Members are demanding, because they know that in the end, you depend on them! And they do not depend on you. They can come and go as they wish. But being a model with brains, well, that’s sometimes just too hard to handle for them. Most are simple men, not very educated and rude too. Many can’t even say anything else than “show ass, pussy, clit, show milk, show lactat, show bootie” etc etc etc. And they expect you to act like a toy, just because there are girls that do it all in free-chat for a 1$ tip and don’t really think much or have any kind of respect for themselves. But that’s understandable, this job can be degrading if you can’t handle yourself and especially your member friends.

And I was asking myself… who is behind that screen? Faces change, some you never get to see or know for real – from the distance, because as for real life, well, that might never ever happen anyway. Maybe some pretend to be stupid, but some really are so. And others just went nuts and now see no other way than to spend their fortunes on this kind of websites. As a performer, I had a vast experience with difference kinds of men. Some of them who were mentally sick indeed!

One of them confessed he can’t talk in free-chat, because he is afraid of crowds and doesn’t even like thanks giving dinner since it gathers everyone together. He told me that his psychologist told him he will never recover, and that this is due to a sad childhood. You know, it kinda amazed me, since he was afraid to get out of the house and he confessed he also isolated himself from the society on this basis. My question is: this kind of person, how does she earn her living and have enough to spend on this kind of website at least for 2-3 hours a week?… And still seem normal for the rest of the time…

Another man told me that he wanted me to stuck a chair’s leg into my… you know. I guess that says it all for most. But there’s more! After that, he wanted me to commit suicide or at least cut myself all over. Now isn’t that sick? How can we girls not go insane there under these conditions?…

I kept the best example for the last part… There was this one great member that came into my private one night… He only wanted to talk to me and kept telling me that he bought this time for me and to make me feel special and that he had not met somebody as special as myself ever since. He showed me his webcam at some point, when I decided he looked exactly like Santa Clause. The guy was 57, had a 14 yo girl and his wife had left him. Now he was searching for a mom for his girl. He had just had a second heart surgery, which he’d carefully hide from my eyes…

After one week, he kept complaining about huge chest pains caused by the surgery… So one day, as he was feeling like this, he kept on asking me to get naked for him and play together. At some point I said to myself: “Why not!”, but I was worried he’d harm himself, as I felt he didn’t have much strenght… First thing next morning I find an e-mail from his daughter telling me her dad was in the hospital, in huge pain with high fever and unstable. I was so scared and felt so guilty… I couldn’t sleep for 3 nights in a row… After that, I accidentally checked the Top Members Awards on the website… And there he was on the 3rd place, even though this was a new week and he was in the hospital, supposingly not having access to the internet. I asked him what that was all about and he simply said: “A friend of mine has the password to my account and he goes online as me”. Well, isn’t that bullshit! BULL-SHIT! Come on, I mean… 1 day before he had sent a friend of his in my free chat to tell me where he was and what happened to him and this friend of his tells me he doesn’t even want to be on the website, he just sends along his friends’ message. And the next day he tells me it was this same friend who had the password to his account and that came over to tell me this stuff. Plus! I don’t believe somebody is as stupid as for letting a friend spend all of the money he has on his card or give access to his personal info on his credit card, d’oh! But members do sometimes believe that it’s impossible for models to think.

So there I was blaming myself for the death of Santa Clause. When in fact he was spending his time chatting to his new crushes. Well, it’s not jealousy, let me make this clear. It’s just the fact I hate lies and liars and people who say something but think 100% otherwise and also believe they can fool around with others’ minds and feelings and try to buy their affection and compassion. So it’s not always about the money, guys. Some performers care about their mental estate more. Because I practically asked this member to go to hell and never talk to me again even though he was always on number one in the awards… So how do people go nuts? I believe this one went nuts when his wife left him.

As for me watching people in the bus… well… There was this young couple right in front of my face and on the chair that was in front of me, there was another young man, a bit fat, but that seemed normal. The girl in the young couple could’ve been an actress, she had a very beautiful face, expressing so much tenderness and love… So I was so busy analyzing her that for a while I did not even get to see that the guy on the seat right in front of me was looking at himself in the mirror and talking to himself on a low voice. He was smiling and even tapped his own hand on the window… Why did he go nuts? Was it because he was too lonely for most of his life? Lack of confidence?… Being isolated from the others because he was fat as a kid and his colleagues would make fun of him?… I just don’t get it! Why are there so many sad people on this planet?…
