***Before I begin, let me start by apologizing to anyone who heard my dreaded tone-deaf singing throughout the entire concert. But I can’t help not singing along & making a fool out of myself… it’s the magic of Mraz. That is all. ***

Wednesday night, Jason Mraz’s Gratitude Café Tour made a stop at GM Place in Vancouver. I’ve been counting down the days until he would return. His last concert here was on November 8th, 2008 (yes, of course I remembered the date! Who do you think I am?).

Of course, being the hardcore fan that I am, I got my tickets months in advance — even leaving my morning lecture early to find a computer in time for his fan club pre-sale. (The reason for my almost-obsessive hardcore fan nature is a long, but heartfelt story. Let’s just say it’s not all about his sex-appeal, his songs get me through a lot. No time to explain now. But if you ever meet me someday, ask me.)

I was shocked to learn that Mraz was going to perform at GM Place – home of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks and venue for large concerts and performances. Last year, Mraz performed at the Centre for Performing Arts – a much more appropriately smaller venue. That’s not to say Mraz isn’t a huge enough rock star to be playing in a large arena (because he is), but intimate performances is what most people love about him. I don’t know, maybe I’m biased in that my last four of five concerts prior to the Mraz show was at a small venue/club. Personally, I believe having the intimate vibe gives you the option of connecting with your fans on a more personal level. Even if there were 500 bodies in the room, it still feels like you’re interacting with them one-on-one. It usually works.

(Later, I learned that Mraz was one of the performers/speakers at Free the Children’s We Day (check out that link if you haven’t already done so) the day before the concert. So I guess there wasn’t really much Mraz could do since it would be difficult to re-assemble his stage.)

Willingly, I convinced my friends TayloredMyPants and ApuTheFish to join me. It didn’t take much convincing though. I dragged TayloredMyPants to his last show here in November even though she has never heard of him until the day of. Ever since then she’s become a bonafide Mraz fan. ApuTheFish has been listening to his music for years, but never realized it was Mraz who she was listening to until she had an epiphany one day.

After nearly eleven months of waiting for him to return and a summer filled with other concerts and gigs to occupy my mind, I was more than ready for the day to arrive.

For weeks, I strategized with my friends our plan of execution for Wednesday night – arrival time and outfit of choice (though, they didn’t really care about the latter). I had to be prepared!

While perusing through various Jason Mraz message boards, I learned that several Mraz fans were going to arrive at GM Place hours in advance of the 7:00pm show-time. Some even said they were going to arrive at 4pm. How will Mraz’s sweat accidentally land on my face if I wasn’t going to be the first one there? I, too, had to come early.

I settled on what I was wearing too: A pink Paul Frank t-shirt with an Einstein monkey on the chest – aka my Geek in the Pink shirt. I had to do it, just in case he sees my shirt while performing the song and invites me on stage. Hey man, I’ve seen shirts do wonders before!

September 30th finally rolled around the corner. I began the day with a huge smile on my face. So what if I had to wake-up at 5:30am for school and endure hours upon hours of lectures? “Today is Jason Mraz Day,” I proclaimed to the heavens.

Since my learning of the early-bird concertgoers, I somehow persuaded ApuTheFish to skip our last lecture. After classes, we went our separate ways to home first, then reunite again at GM Place at 3:30pm. Yes, I said 3:30.

After having a quickie lunch at home, I made it to GM Place at around 3:20 at Gate 7 (the entrance where general admission/floor guests were supposed to line-up). When I first got to Gate 7, there was absolutely not a single soul present. Surprise, surprise. I walked a few feet towards the entrance and I observed that a girl was already here before me. To pass her time, she was reading a magazine on the ledge of a set of stairs. I was getting bored; luckily, minutes later, ApuTheFish arrived and came to my rescue.

The girl then realized we were Mraz-early-birds, too. She joined us, then a couple of other girls 15 minutes later came by too. The five of us were all alone – still, more than two-hours away until doors would open.

The four of us sat in a line along all six doors at Gate 7 and made a truce not to let any other suckers get past us. If we wanted to be in front of the standing pit in full view of Mraz, we would have to block the doors from others.

In the couple of hours still left of waiting, the five of us discussed everything Mraz-ness. We even joked that it would be cool if Jason came out of his trailer or rehearsal to perform for the five of us. After all, if we were dedicated to standing outside in the freezing cold, I think we deserve a song or two… or even a brief ‘hello’ would have been nice. He’s been known to do that once in a while.

At around 5:15, more people were starting to arrive and take over our makeshift human blockade. Finally, TayloredMyPants arrived too. Excellent… another body for our blockade. She then got up to strech her legs and so did I at around a quarter-to-six. Upon seeing us, everyone got up too. They probably thought it was time to enter GM Place. Um no, kids, we’re just stretching our legs. Who knew we had so much influence on random strangers?

It was already 6pm and we have not been allowed in yet. What’s wrong with the security? How will I ever stand front and center in front of Mraz now?

The security finally realized it was past 6pm and signalled to let us in. After getting my wristband, I ran down the stairs into the open arena. No time to stop by the merch table — I need to be front. As I gazed down the arena floor, there must have been hundred people standing by the stage already. I knew it! I knew that that security dude flubbed his job. We were late.

I ran as fast as I could and made my way to the back of the pack. I somehow squeezed past the last few standing rows and made it to the third row to the right of the mic (or on the left side from Mraz’s perspective). I couldn’t really see the stage very well since everyone in front of me was taller than I was (actually, generally, everyone is pretty much taller than I am). My only line of sight was a one inch crack between the heads of two people. Two people with very big heads that kept swaying back-and-forth. sigh.

The thing that bothers me about these large arenas is that anyone can get tickets at anytime. Usually, from my experience at the smaller venues, the real and true fans get the tickets first leaving barely any tickets left for the fan that just knows the artist for one of their hit songs. In Mraz’s case, that song that everyone knows is I’m Yours made popular in summer 2008. I, on the other hand, learned about I’m Yours about three years prior, even before it was even titled I’m Yours. And I’m pretty sure three-quarters of the audience at GM Place was there solely for I’m Yours. I’m thrilled that Mraz has gained hundreds of thousands of new fans, but if you’re going to someone’s show, at least know something about the artist or a few more of their other songs. The reason why I am rambling on about this topic is because someone didn’t even know who Bushwalla was, thought Mraz was from Hawai’i (and at that point, I gave them the WTF-face) – ok, just because he did a video in a tropical setting does not mean he’s from Hawai’i. ugh. And there were several people, especially in the front rows blocking my way that didn’t know a single word to any song other than to I’m Yours. In all of these scenarios, I throw my head down in shame – you know who you are. Anyway, I digress…

Around 7pm, the MC of the night Bushwalla (Jason Mraz’s bff) took the stage. Trying to get the crowd hyped up, Bushwalla interacted with us, told some stories, jumped into the crowd to chat with a girl in the audience, and performed some songs, including I’m a Ghetto Blaster. We also sang him Happy Birthday as it was his birthday – he turned 23… again (for the 11th time?).

Finally, Bushwalla introduced us to K’naan. Not your typical hip-hop or reggae artist, K’naan captures your attention with his beautiful songs and prose.

He got the audience involved with his story-telling and we even joined him in a capella. His awe-inspiring Somalia performance even got a lot of us in tears – ApuTheFish included.

After a few more hits including Bang Bang (made popular with Maroon 5) and Waving Flag, Jason Mraz finally graced the stage.

At this point, I could barely breathe. Not because I was being suffocated by very tall people or because the girl next to me was smoking weed (which, incidentally, because of her, I now learned I am allergic to the bud). No, but because this time, I was only 20-feet away from the man. If I really wanted to, I could have jumped over the barricade, hopped onto the stage, and hung onto his leg for dear life. I thought to myself: “Must have self-control…… breathe, dude, breathe.”

Mraz was barefoot, wore tattered blue jeans, a white long-sleeved henley-like top, and a maroon/brownish headband with tufts of his dreads peeking out. My friend said he was wearing the exact same thing as the day before. I don’t care. He could be sporting a garbage bag and still make it look sexy.

Toca Rivera with a golden gnome in hand was on our side of the stage. He sported a pair of shades as per usual.

Mraz’s intro song was a Traveler/Make It Mine medley. He performed it superbly end to end. I was worried that Mraz wasn’t going to be as entertaining as usual because he was under-the-weather for awhile. You can hear his hoarse voice the day before during the We Day performance. He proved us wrong though. For those not knowing of his condition before, they probably couldn’t tell anything was wrong. What a trooper.

He performed a total of 17 songs: 11 on the main stage, 3 on the small sound stage, and 3 back on the main stage for the encore. His song set-list is below.

Traveler/Make It Mine medley

Anything You Want

Coyotes

You & I Both

The Remedy (I Won’t Worry) – Reggeady version

Details in the Fabric

Only Human

Dynamo of Volition

Beautiful Mess

I’m Yours/Three Little Birds medley

Fall Through the Glass (w/ Bushwalla)

Never Too Late (The Only Life You Can Save)

Lucky (w/ manager Alysse Fischer)

Dear Anna (w/ Toca Rivera)

Copchase

All Night Long (cover)

Butterfly

Mraz got everyone dancing and singing. The entire arena was full (not including the upper bowl/300-level, as those seats were not for sale), all 10,000+ of us were having a blast. A whole lot of us screamed for his attention and in my case, screaming out my love for him. (Every time he would raise his arms up, his shirt would lift up and you could see his happy-trail. *ahem* But that’s enough fangirl-isms from me for now.)

During Coyotes, Mraz beautifully sang an opera interlude. Here, he showcased his powerful range of voice.

I noticed another moment that got me choked up. I am not sure if anyone else noticed it either, but during The Remedy, Mraz showed a vulnerable side to him. Pay attention the last few seconds of the video to The Remedy below. It’s a very poignant moment in which I will never forget.

Of course, during I’m Yours, everyone was singing along and dancing like mad. After all, it IS his record-breaking little hippie song.

After performing Fall Through the Glass with Bushwalla, Mraz took a bow and left the stage. Looking at my watch I thought it was too early for the show to end.

Minutes later I hear roaring screams. Then Mraz’s voice came over the speakers, “What’s everyone screaming about? It’s like the Vancouver Canucks just scored a goal or something?”

I squealed, “Oh my god, he said ‘Vancouver Canucks’!” That just made me love him even more now.

Everyone then realized where his voice was coming from. Mraz was at the mini-soundstage at the opposite end of the arena. Nearly everyone on the floor ran towards the soundstage. ApuTheFish and I stood our ground by the main stage. Thankfully, those around us left for the soundstage leaving me to be finally up close by the barricade.

I wasn’t the only one to be concerned how he was able to make such a large arena feel intimate. Mraz thought of it too. He probably played three of the most personal songs on the soundstage, including a soulful duet with Toca, Dear Anna.

Upon Mraz’s return to the main stage for his encore performance, his three-piece brass band (The Grooveline Horns) performed Copchase. These guys are extraordinary.

His last performance of the night was the ever-so-sexy-I-wanna-tear-off-your-pants song, Butterfly. There was a single moment during the song when he looked at me and winked. And in that small finite moment (which seemed like an eternity to me), it was already decided that he was going to be my future babies’ daddy. For real.

Mraz took a final bow on stage with the rest of his band mates. It was official, the night has finally come to an end.

As the crowds dispersed, some of us yelled at the crew dismantling the set-up. I fought with a grown man and another girl for Jason’s song set-list. The man, I think, was a friend of one of the stage crews as they knew each other by name. So, of course, he got the set-list. Bum.

It was a bittersweet ending for me. Sweet in that I finally got to see him again after 11 months of waiting; bitter because I didn’t want it to end.

All-in-all, I thought the concert was pretty epic. My heart was pounding throughout the whole night. However, compared to the concert back in November, I thought that was a better one than Wednesday’s. I’m not sure why, but I remember there being more interaction with the audience in November. Perhaps it was because it was at a smaller venue, and Mraz had the luxury of wasting time and not sticking to a tight schedule. But that’s just me.

I am now counting the days until Jason returns to Vancouver. This time, I must be front and center. Countdown starts now… Oh, Jason – where are you???

BE LOVE!

Deci, omul are 3 albume in palmares.

A-Z“. Eu personal am aflat de Jason, pentru că am auzit piesa “Life is Wonderful”, prima piesă de pe album, cu nişte versuri extrem de reuşite.

Dar bomba Mraz, a venit odată cu al trelea album, “We sing. We dance.

Call me crazy, but I truly believe you can put a season label on most albums. I mean, think about it

Call me crazy, but I truly believe you can put a season label on most albums. I mean, think about it – certain songs are best for snuggling under lots of blankets during a snowstorm. And some songs are just perfect for sitting in the sun or cruising with the top down (if you happen to be so lucky to own a car in which the top can come down).

Since Memorial Day has passed and we can officially wear white, it’s time we really start listening to summer music. Here are my top choices for music that is especially summery. Which means these albums put me in a fabulous mood… even when I’m lying in my bed rubbing aloe on my ailing limbs.

Drive-By Truckers- Brighter Than Creation’s Dark

Other than the Dave Matthews Band, what genre of music just screams summer (yes I’m considering Dave Matthews its own genre)? Well, country, of course. It’s pretty cliche, actually. People hanging out, tailgating in parking lots, wearing cowboy hats and singing Kenny Chesney. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a lover of Kenny, but like I said, it’s all kind of cliche. So, I choose Drive-By Truckers for my summer music.

They’re country in a totally alternative, Southern rock kind of way. Meaning they’re awesome. And not the tailgating type of country you generally think of as summer music. This is more summer music in terms of hanging out on the back porch and drinking some beer with your buddies. One of my favorite summer tunes from Brighter Than Creation’s Dark is “Righteous Path,” which is just the song many of us need to to aid us in making the right choices come summer: “I got the need to blow it out on Saturday night/I got a grill in the backyard and a case of beers/I got a boat that ain’t seen the water in years/More bills than money, I can do the math/I’m trying to keep focused on the righteous path.” But I’m also a fan of “Ghost to Most” and, of course, “Daddy Needs a Drink.” Because, yup, Daddy knows it’s summer.

Jason Mraz- We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things

Jason Mraz is the boy of summer. Again, he’s kind of like the non-country version of Kenny Chesney. Please excuse all my Kenny Chesney references, but Kenny basically is summer to me. But Jason Mraz is summer too. I mean, come on, the guy is barefoot 95% of the time, can be found on the beach, and wears beachy-type hats quite often. We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things is summery, but actually, all of Jason Mraz’s albums scream summer. Listen to “I’m Yours” and I have absolutely no doubt Jason will make you feel like you’re sitting on an island. You’re alone with him and he’s playing his banjo and singing to you about how much he loves you. That’s just how Jason Mraz is.

And if you had to name a female singer who reminds you of summer, Colbie Caillat would totally come to mind first. Jason obviously agreed as she joins him for “Lucky,” the most lay-in-a-hammock-sipping-lemonade-on-a-summer-night song ever. Jason and Colbie sing, “And so I’m sailing through the sea/To an island where we’ll meet/You’ll hear the music, fell the air/I’ll put a flower in your hair.” Jason Mraz makes me want to be on the beach. Preferably a private island. Right now.

The Hold Steady- Stay Positive

Again the boys of summer. Like Kenny Chesney… I’m kidding. They’re really not. They’re just summery, fun music. Another, drink-beer-with-the-boys-on-the-porch type album. I swear I’ve always thought this way about them, but when I heard Stay Positive has a song called “Constructive Summer” on it, I knew they were a summer band. “We’re gonna build something this summer/Summer grant us all the power/To drink on top of the water towers/With love and trust and shows all summer/Let this be my annual reminder/That we can all be something bigger.” How perfect are those lyrics? But the rest of the songs on the album are equally as fabulous; I especially love the title track because it’s all about staying positive, which is most easy to do in the summer months. The Hold Steady also has crazy fun fans, making the summer all the better. Of course, most of them are drunk, but isn’t that what the summer is for? The Hold Steady will help you loosen up a bit, which is something we can all use.

Jason Mraz

May 13, 2008 was the date when all Jason Mraz’s fans worldwide waited for the release of his album “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things”, where the hit “I’m Yours” was the carrier single. Some might have listened to the album even before the said date when it was leaked through the internet. It was released here in the Philippines few weeks after the release date.

I actually like the idea of how this album came into existence… Most of the songs from this album are actually old songs that were composed by Jason Mraz. He just gave “new interpretation” to these songs. Jason Mraz fans might now the song “Im Yours” right even before the song became a worldwide hit.

Before the official release date of the album, they first released three different EPs: 1. We Sing 2. We Dance 3. We Steal Things. I really find it cool. The packaging of the album is simple but is really unique and noticeable.

In December of 2008, a special edition of the album has been released, which contains 3 CDs: 1. The Album 2. The EPs 3. DVD Concert and “Here We Are” documentary. It’s not because I am a fan of Jason, but I really do like all the songs in this album. I find his songs cool, easy to listen to, at the same time with meaningful lyrics.

It’s been a year already when I started listening to the songs from this album, and until now, I keep some of those in my music player where I listen to them once in a while. I definitely consider this album one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to and surely as years pass by, it would definitely be a “classic” and “must have” album.

Cheers!! another edition of Jamming! (talagang pinangatawanan na yung segment? hahaha)

Dahil sobrang fanatic ako ni Jason Mraz.. as in sobra.. I’m featuring another song from his latest album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. I dedicate this song to my fellow members of League of Extraordinary Perverts.

Jason Mraz is such a genius! And in this live performance, it just shows that he’s soooo great!! I really wish that he’ll come back again in the Philippines to promote his album. I was not able to see him when he went here before

Here’s Butterfly. ENJOY!!!

I’m taking a moment just imaginin’ that I’m dancin’ with you
I’m your pole and all you’re wearing is your shoes
You got soul, you know what to do to turn me on until I write a song about you
And you have your own engaging style
And you’ve got the knack to vivify
And you make my slacks a little tight, you may unfasten them if you like
That’s if you crash and spend the night

But you don’t fold, you don’t fade
You’ve got everything you need, especially me
Sister you’ve got it all
You make the call to make my day
In your message say my name
Your talk is all the talk, sister you’ve got it all

Curl your upper lip up and let me look around
Ride your tongue along your bottom lip and bite down
And bend your back and ask those hips if I can touch
Because they’re the perfect jumping off point of getting closer to your

Butterfly
Well you float on by
Oh kiss me with your eyelashes tonight
Or Eskimo your nose real close to mine
And let’s mood the lights and finally make it right
But you don’t fold, you don’t fade, you’ve got everything you need
Especially me
Sister you’ve got it all

You make the call to make my day
In your message say my name
Your talk is all the talk sister you’ve got it all
You’ve got it all, you’ve got it all, you’ve got it all [2x]
You’ve got it all, you’ve got it all

Doll I need to see you pull your knee socks up
Let me feel you upside down, slide in, slide out, slide over here
Climb into my mouth now child

Butterfly, well you landed on my mind
Dammit you landed on my ear and then you crawled inside
And now I see you perfectly behind closed eyes
I wanna fly with you and I don’t wanna lie to you
Cause I, cause I can’t recall a better day
Sun coming to shine on the occasion

You’re an open-minded lady
You’ve got it all
And I never forget a face
Except for maybe my own,
I have my days
But let’s face the fact here, it’s you who’s got it all

You know that fortune favors the brave
Well let me get paid while I make you breakfast
The rest is up to you, you make the call

You make the call to make my day
In your message say my name
Your talk is all the talk, sister you’ve got it all

I can’t recall a better day
Sun comin’ to shine on the occasion
You’re a sophisticated lady, oh

You’ve got it all, you’ve got it all, you’ve got it all [3x]
You’ve got it all, you’ve got it all.

You’ve got it all
You’ve got it all
You gotta gotta gotta got it all

Butterfly, baby, well you’ve got it all

since it’s a weekend already, I’m posting a new song for the Jamming segment of my blog (may segment?? haha)..

while waiting for my two Jason Mraz song requests to be featured on Song of the Week, I’ve decided to post another Jason Mraz song.

This song, Dynamo of Volition, is one of my favorite tracks in his current album, We Sing We Dance We Steal Things.

Great vocals and guitar-playing. HE. IS.THE.BEST!!

I’ve got the dynamo of volition
With po-pole position
Automatic transmission with lo-ow emissions
I’m a brand new addition to the old edition
With the love unconditional.

I’m a drama abolitionist
Damn no opposition to my proposition
Half of a man, half magician
Half a politician holding the mic
Like ammunition
And my vision is as simple as light.

Ain’t no reason we should be in a fight
No demolition
Get to vote, get to say what you like
Procreation
Compositions already written by themselves
Heck is for the people not believin’ in gosh

Good Job
Get ‘em up way high
Gimme gimme that high five
Good time
Get ‘em way down low
Gimme gimme that low dough
Good God
Bring ‘em back again
Gimme gimme that high ten
You’re the best definition of good intentions.

I do not answer the call if
I do not know who is calling
I guess the whole point of it all is
That we never know really

I’m tryin’ to keep with the Joneses
While waiting for guns and the roses
To finish what we all suppose is
That shit’s so silly

Oh, fist like pumping and wrist lock
Twisting up a rizla
Kid Icarus on the transistor
Nintendo been givin’ me the blister
I bend over take it in the kisser

My best friends are hittin’ on my sister.
Try to tell them that they still wish-a
Cause she already got herself a mister
And besides that’s gross to want to dis her
Didn’t I say, Didn’t I say

Good Job
Get ‘em up way high
Gimme gimme that high five
Good time
Get ‘em way down low
Gimme gimme that low dough
Good God
Bring ‘em back again
Gimme gimme that high ten
You’re the best definition of good versus evil

I do not keep up with statistics
I do not sleep without a mistress
I do not eat unless it’s fixed with
Some kind of sweet like a licorice
My home is deep inside the mystics
I’m known to keep diggin on existence
I’m holdin’ in the heat like a fishstick
My phone it beeps because I missed it.

I do not answer the call if
I do not know who is calling
I’m making no sense of it all
Say, can I get a witness?

I’m only a boy in a story
Just a hallucinatory
Trippin’ on nothing there is
Living in the wilderness

With a tiger spot on my back
Living life of a cat
I just wanna relax here
And write another rap tune
Driving off on your blind man’s bike
You can say just what you like
Or nothing can stop you

Good Job
Get ‘em up way high
Gimme gimme that high five
Good Time
Get ‘em way down low
Gimme gimme that low dough
Good God
Bring ‘em back again
Gimme gimme that high ten
You’re the best definition of good versus evil

Good Job
Get ‘em up way high
Gimme gimme that high five
Good Time
Get ‘em way down low
Gimme gimme that low dough
Good God
Bring ‘em back again
Gimme gimme that high ten
You’re the best definition of good intention
You’re the best definition of good intention
You’re the best definition of good intention

You’re the best around
And nothing’s ever gonna take you down [x3]

I first heard and saw the music video of the song “The Remedy” by Jason Mraz in MTV. I started to like the song afterwards. I saw a pirated CD (sssshhhh!) of his album together with some songs of Edwin McCain. I bought it so I can listen to their songs.

I really loved the album “Waiting For My Rocket To Come” of Jason Mraz after listening to it. The songs from the album are not just catchy but also have good lyrics. Some of his songs actually became “soundtrack” of my life. That’s why I really waited for the release of his album “MR. A-Z”. I wasn’t disappointed because the album is also one of the best albums I’ve ever listened to.

But I can say that I anticipated the release of his latest album “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things”. I can say that this album is… “Wow”… nice packaging, nice songs… two thumbs up… I now have original copies of the three albums.

I really love Jason Mraz. I am MRAZmerized.

And what a good time it was. I went to see Jason Mraz live last night, and it was a great show. Every song went for about 10 minutes and sounded so much better than the ones on his album. Everyone was singing along and it just felt so good to be there.

Before Jason came to perform, Lisa Mitchell did some songs from an album that is still in progress.

“She is still making the album, hasn’t finished it yet, doesn’t even know what it’s going to be called and I think that’s wonderful” – Jason Mraz

Her songs were pretty good but unfortunately her mixers weren’t the best so the sound wasn’t that great.

After Lisa left, one of Jason’s best friends, Eric Hutchinson came to sing some songs from his new album “Sounds Like This”. That was really awesome, he was getting the crowd going and for his last song, he sung “Rock n Roll” and every got up and sang along. It was almost time for Mr. A-Z himself.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, this person has been swimming in the Great Barier Reef and had had his left arm taken off by a shark. He now has a mechanical one which plays twice as well, please welcome my friend, Jason Mraz!” – Eric Hutchinson

The crowd went wild as Jason walked onto the stage in his trilby hat, barefoot looking extremely relaxed.

” I have a confession to make, I can’t actually see any of you. I scratched my eye so I can’t put my contacts in. You look like a sexy, fleshy blob, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate it very much.” – Jason Mraz

“I actually have a crush on some of you here tonight, all you sitting in the little pizza shapped areas of seats I love you like pecan pie, it’s very cool” – Jason Mraz

” All the people out there, especially in the seats, would you say your lives are feeling elevated? As citizens of Earth, would you say that you are all fully rotated? No? Ok maybe too far that time.” – Jason Mraz

” Guys, if you want a smaller concert, just stop telling everyone about it.” – Jason Mraz

He was really funny and when he sung “The Dynamo of Volition” everyone had to get up and dance, then he sung “I’m yours” and everyone was singing at the top of their voice, it was amazing.

When he was singing “Butterfly” however, this is where the girls went crazy.

I’m taking a moment just imagining that I’m dancing with you, I’m your pole and all your wearing is your shoes. You got soul you know what to do to turn me on until I write a song about you. You have your own engaging style, you have the knack to vivify, you make my slacks a little tight you may unfasten them if you like, that’s if you crash and spend the night.” – Jason Mraz

It was a great night full of good times. Jason is a really cool guy and I can’t wait until he comes back to Brisbane. Thanks Jason, Eric, Lisa, their fantastic bands and everyone else who made that night possible!

A singer-songwriter originally from Mechanicsville, Virginia, USA, Mraz set out for the big city, attending a performing arts college in New York City. Realizing the competitive nature of the musical theater world he paired his innate desire to perform his own material, Mraz picked the guitar at age 18 and began panhandling on the streets of NYC. Rumor has it that Mraz ran into a ‘psychic’ in central park who told him something along the lines of “remember to follow your dreams”. Jason interpreted this as his sign to follow his heart all the way to the San Diego coffee house scene where a developing base of creative singer/songwriters was beginning to blossom. Mraz gained a following of fans on the coffee house circuit – most notably Java Joe’s, where he worked with percussionist Toca Rivera.

He played last night in the academy in Dublin. He has a new album out “We Sing We Dance We Steal Things” and would definitley recommend it. Reckon it’ll be my summer album!

Letra de I’m yours
Well you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks
Now I’m trying to get back
Before the cool done run out
I’ll be giving it my bestest
And nothing’s going to stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it’s again my turn to win some or learn some

I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait, I’m yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find love love love love
Listen to the music of the moment babay sing with me
We’re just one big family
And It’s our God-forsaken right to be loved love loved love loved

So I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I’m sure
There’s no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate, I’m yours

Scooch on over closer dear
And i will nibble your ear

I’ve been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I’m be saying is there ain’t no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It’s what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

But I won’t hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I’m yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you’re free
Look into your heart and you’ll find that the sky is yours
Please don’t, please don’t, please don’t
There’s no need to complicate
Cause our time is short
This oh this this is out fate, I’m yours!
