Company enhances call center services portfolio with customer self-service offerings

We seem to have come to a brick wall with midweek training, despite everyone’s efforts to help and accommodate us we have not been able to confirm anything regular. I would suggest we have to stick to Sunday morning training at Woodside, this is also free so suits the club bank account.

Sorry about this, if it changes I will let you all know but for the foreseeable future it is training on Sundays, 10.30 at Woodside.

There might be some of you out there who are looking at all the different jobs available and are left thinking “I’d rather do something a bit different” or “I just can’t see myself working for someone else.” Or perhaps you’re just an innately enterprising kind of person and you want to find out how you can put your talents to best use.

If that sounds like you, next week from 16th to 22nd November is Global Enterprise Week and there are various different events and activities you can get involved in here at the University and in Manchester generally, whether you have an interest in starting your own business or freelancing now or at some point in the future, or even if you just have a vaguely entrepreneurial streak.

For example, on Wednesday 18th November 12.30-4pm there’s a FlyingStart ‘Make it Happen’ day at the Manchester Conference Centre on Sackville Street, which includes workshops on idea creation, getting your business idea off the ground, and lots of practical advice on starting a business or freelancing. The organisers also advertise an opportunity to take up a free place in a 12-month programme to help you into self employment or successfully set up and run a business” – definitely something worth checking out!

On Thursday 19th November 5-6pm there’s also an Enterprise web chat, where you can put your questions about enterprise, self-employment and freelancing to one of our specialist careers consultants and someone from the University’s Enterprise Centre.

Dear all

Hopefully you are all recovering well (Adam and Nathan I know this is going to take a while!!) and are ready to get back out there. I have just been to see the football club to see if we can use their pitch again tomorrow and it is looking hopeful. We may have the option to train next to the football pitch on Thursday as they have training anyway which would also work as an interim solution. We are waiting to find out. So please be on standby to train either tomorrow or Thursday.

We have momentum now so lets keep this moving. Looks like we may have a game against Fawley on the 21st so we need to keep training.

Again, speedy recovery to Adam and Nathan.

Your views on the Modern Conservative Party

Hi all

Just a quick note to update you on Adam. I have just returned from the hospital and although in a lot of pain he is OK but does have a 22cm hole in his bum!!! A really bad cut but hopefully no permanent damage.

Thanks to John and Nud for administering the first aid on the side line which has been praised by the doctors. Nathan was also injured yesterday but I have not been able to get an update on his condition, hope you are OK.

So apart from these injuries……..WHAT A DAY!!!!!!

We played well, got better as the game went on and had a lot of fun.

Fantastic work from everyone. We did suffer from a problem I was not expecting and that was too many players, I am really sorry about the few of you that did not get on, time just flew by and we must learn from this and manage our subs properly. The support was unbelievable and goes to prove we were so right when we said Lymington needed a Rugby Club, it was absolutely amazing.

Thoughts are now to our next game, the chat last night was for us to get some 2’s and 3’s action rather than just vets games, I personally think this is a great idea and I welcome your thoughts on this. I think a game in the next 2 to 3 weeks would be ideal.

Will let you know about Wednesday training but lets keep the Sundays going, 10.30 at Woodside.

All in all a fantastic day, all the hard work has paid off.

After months of hard work and training the Lymington Mariners are all set for their first game. Kick off at 2pm at Woodside Park followed by drinks at the Chequers. Come down and show your support.

Last night’s training took place at Lymington Town Football club’s ground under floodlights at 6pm. We did some contact, rucking and lineout work in the forwards and the backs working on some moves and support. We rotated the work across the pitch and avoided scrums – we want to be able to use the pitch again! Cheers Dom for sorting that out.

Jason sent an email out today – “the council have said they have issues getting our posts ready. Long and short of it is we need to help them out at 8am on Saturday morning or the game has to be cancelled. We have come too far with this to cancel now. I need 4 or 5 volunteers to help out at Woodside, 8am this Saturday. Who can help? “

This was the urgent message that without Lymington Mariners helping out the council where unable to get the posts erected. Needless to say the volunteers were forthcoming and the game goes ahead.

OK, good work lads, Ronan, Phil J, Tom, and Jamie L. These lads are meeting on the pitch at 8am on Saturday. If anyone else wants to help them I am sure the extra hands would be appreciated

Time for an update and a call to arms. There’s been a lot of talk and now it’s time to back it up with some action.

Our first home fixture is on Sat 31st Oct, against Camberley Veterans XV.

A varied group of players have been training in Wed evenings throughout the summer, but now it’s time for all those who claim to be players to turn up to training, pay your membership fee, and start having some fun.

Training is on Wed evenings, at Woodside Park. We gather at the car park off Ridgeway Lane @ 6pm, run around for an hour and then go to The Chequers for a pint or two.

Our pitch, which will be marked out shortly, is next to the Skateboard Park, where it used to be several years ago.

The next match will be an Away match in Guernsey on Sat 21st Nov. Full update to appear shortly on Club website and Facebook Group.

S3 Integrity Puts Web Chat Customer Service Channel Under the Microscope: Asks “Has Click-to-Chat Fallen Short of Expectations?”

Despite Low Grades in Cost Reduction, Customer Experience and Ease of Implementation, Web Chat Has Untapped Potential as an Online Customer Self-Service Tool

ORLANDO, FL – 23 September 2009 – S3 Integrity LLC announced today the publication of its Blue Paper that suggests Web Chat (or “Click-to-Chat”) has failed to meet market expectations as an online customer communication channel. Based on interviews with large-scale users of the technology, the report assigns low performance grades to Web Chat on its ability to reduce operating expense, to build customer loyalty, and to be managed internally.

Web Chat adoption has grown rapidly over the past 5 years as an eCommerce tool; enabling consumers to communicate directly with an organization’s sales or customer service agents on a real-time basis, through a written exchange similar to email or SMS texting. “Reactive” Chat conversations are initiated by consumers who click a Chat icon; “proactive” Chat involves pop-up icons triggered by the website operator, primarily as a means to increase completion rates of online transactions.

According to S3 Integrity’s CEO Mike Tripp, “Our Blue Paper does not question the necessity of Web Chat as a tool for companies seeking to provide consumers with a complete portfolio of communications channels. Our report does suggest, however, that Web Chat’s business-related benefits have been over-promised and under-achieved in three important categories; primarily as a result of inadequate direction on the part of some Web Chat technology suppliers, as well as sloppy implementation on the part of many companies using the tool.”

Specifically, S3 Integrity’s Blue Paper assigned the following performance grades to Web Chat:

“Cost Reduction” Grade: C minus

According to the report, “Many companies believe Web Chat will be less expensive than phone-based customer communication, but often fail to accurately calculate embedded technology- and agent-related costs, as well as increased transaction (or “handle”) times and incremental traffic driven by the additional channel. Additionally, many companies are unable to develop their agents’ ability to manage multiple Chat conversations simultaneously (called “concurrency”), which is required to reduce transaction costs. Although Web Chat can be an effective customer collaboration tool, it is not a true online self-service solution, so its return on investment is never assured.”

“Customer Experience” Grade: C plus

According to the report, “Because customer service agents are managing concurrent conversations, customers are often subjected to long waiting times between Chat responses, or they are provided with automated “canned” responses that can miss the mark in terms of content and conversation dynamics. Further, customer service agents – operating from either on-shore or offshore locations – who have poor writing skills or do not understand nuances of the written word, will not deliver a positive Customer Experience and may even damage brand loyalty. Proactive Chat also is considered intrusive by many consumers.”

 “Ease of Implementation” Grade: D

According to the report, “Web Chat is not a plug-and-play customer service solution, and is very different from phone-based customer service in several respects, notably the skill set, personality and temperament of Chat agents versus phone agents. Chat suppliers often downplay, and companies can underestimate the complexity of proper Web Chat implementation, which involves business goals, performance metrics, policies and procedures, skills-based routing, record keeping, analytics and testing, oversight, security and privacy issues, quality control…in short, a lot of hard work and ongoing attention.”

 “S3 Integrity’s Blue Paper examination of Web Chat’s current shortcomings,” Mr. Tripp noted, is based on existing Web Chat market research and case studies, as well as our conversations and direct experience with well-known companies currently using Web Chat as a customer service channel. Although we appreciate that the Web Chat experience of some companies may be more positive than what’s reflected in our Blue Paper, we believe the low grades assigned to Web Chat’s cost effectiveness, Customer Experience and ease of implementation represent the sentiment of a significant number of companies that have developed a Web Chat capability.”

Web Chat’s shortcomings notwithstanding, S3 Integrity’s Blue Paper claims that companies have only scratched the surface of Web Chat’s potential as a tool that can drive online customer self-service. Mr. Tripp said, “Pushing page links to customers who are already engaged in an agent-assisted Web Chat conversation is a rudimentary tactic with limited measurability.
