Abbiamo provveduto a sostituirla con una piu moderna, veloce e interattiva.

Abbiamo gia caricato l’anno 2009, 2008 e altre gallery speciali.

Stiamo continuando a sistemarla al meglio

This evening I spent some well-used time watching Matt Kloskowski’s tutorials about Lightroom on Kelbytraining.com .  If you haven’t checked them out yet, you don’t know what you are missing.  They have training videos covering various topics involving photography, photoshop, plug-ins, techniques and other related topics.  They have a monthly subscription option as well as an annual subscription.  Both subscriptions offer unlimited access to all of their training videos.

To the point, I used the knowledge gleaned from the session to update my studio portfolio (which was long overdue).  I didn’t use alot of images (only 23), just enough to get a feel for the gallery building process – and enough to display the variety of images I usually make.  Here is the link to my gallery.  Any comments or critiques are welcomed.

In GrC 202 – Digital Photography, we had to print out our best picture. We started to print at the end of class cuase it was going to take a long time to print all 30 of ours. I was rushing to print. He was specific to follow certain instructions. He took a snapshot of his printing settings and pointed out the parts we need to copy. I copied his steps.

The next week we met, our professor put up all of our pictures on the wall. the photograph i chose to print was:

I couldn’t find my picture on the wall! i was looking left and right, left and right. Where the frick is my picture??

Turns out i totally rush the print, and did follow his settings exactly, but his settings were for landscape pictures, not portraits. So my picture printed in landscape form, so the picture looked a lot small than it should’ve. It didn’t absolutely maximize its space as it should’ve. Since I was the only one who printed my wrong, and everyone who had a portrait printed out their image 8.5×11 and everyone who had a landscape printed their 11×8.5, my picture was so much smaller than others that I didn’t even notice mine. palmface.

worst of all. we had to do a critque. It starts out with someone just choosing a picture they like, and talk about it and say how it can be improved. The author of the chosen picture then takes his/her picture off the wall, and chooses a picture to critque themselves. So basically, one by one, a picture is going to be taken off the wall. And probably the worst one is going to be left cause no one wants to talk about it.

…mine was the second to the last picture XD the author of the last picture wasnt there. i was kind of embarassed. ><

I think mine was a bit better than a few, but mine was so hard to see XD I didn’t even see it i really feel like mine wouldn’t be 2nd to last if i just printed correctly. so i didn’t feel too embarassed because i really did believe that my picture would be chosen earlier if i just printed it right.

We basically had a template. The only thing we changed was our picture at the bottom left corner, the animation in the bottom right, our signature (which was scanned in), and a chosen gradient. I thought it was kind of gross, how we were all supposed to have some graident and the bottom has to be black and the top must be a color we like. So there were a lot of strong harsh gradients. I tried to soften mine as much as i can. Personally, i was going to make something look shiny but i couldn’t really achieve the shiny plastic look with such a thin slice of an image. Our gradient image was only supposed to be 72×100 or somethign like that to be repeated throughout the background. So i ended up gettin a 3d ish bar tahts repeated. oh wellz.

i was looking at other student gallerys and dude, someone did the EXACT same thing as me. XD i feel uncreative. and i thought i was being creative cause everyone was doing a harsh gradient.

E’ stato presentato ieri ufficialmente il progetto di Telecom Italia Spa “jpeggy”, il nuovo concetto di comunity, web gallery, concorso ed esposizione tutto in uno.

“jpeggy” non è un concorso ma l’elaborazione di un nuovo concetto di comunicazione e condivisione di progetti fotografici. In cui la fotografia è vista come materia base dell’espressione artistica contemporanea.

La mostra standard la conosciamo tutti: c’è un curatore, un tema, vengono scelti alcuni fotografi, questi danno le stampe. Le stampe vengono esposte in uno spazio fisico, se si è fortunati c’è il budget per un catalogo.
Fine del progetto.

In questo caso, il tutto è sperimentale: si lavora su un formato inusuale, c’è pur sempre un tema. Ma il gruppo dei curatori è eterogeneo. E c’è Telecom Italia con Amaci (l’associazione musei d’arte contemporanea italiani) che supportano il progetto.

Un progetto dove curatori/selezionatori e fotografi accettano di mettersi in gioco, di provare a verificare alcune ipotesi non in termini astratti ma usando il progetto come terreno di prova empirica (con tutto quello che ciò comporta).

Il messaggio è “the medium is the message”.

Il lavoro di ricerca fotografica è pensato per una fruizione avanzata, con interfacce di visualizzazione molteplici.

E nuova è la modalità di comunicazione delle proprie ricerche che non è flickr, non è un blog, né un sistema “chiuso” ma un sistema misto, strano, a tratti sorprendente.

Le istruzioni d’uso sono semplici:
Gli “autori” rispondono all’invito postando un’immagine nella pagina Flickr dedicata al progetto.
I curatori periodicamente selezionano le immagini che passano da Flickr a jpeggy ed entrano a far parte della “cloud”, una nuvola di immagini che funziona come interfaccia principale di fruizione/comunicazione.
Ogni settimana un curatore seleziona dalla cloud un’immagine che va a comporre il portfolio dei cinquantadue autori dell’anno, cui è dedicato un blog di approfondimento.

È una struttura portante abbastanza inaspettata (in genere i sistemi Flickr e blog sono aperti, mentre le cloud sono di tipo “chiuso”, noi mescoliamo le due modalità).

Tornando al processo,
sulla base dei contenuti caricati sulla pagina “cloud”, il gruppo dei curatori non sceglie il più bravo; più semplicemente, sceglie quel lavoro che aiuta a definire meglio la ricerca/progetto complessiva. Quel lavoro che se scelto dà molta più energia e forza all’intero progetto.

Alla fine?

Se tutti quanti sono stati bravi e intelligenti (fotografi, curatori…) con jpeggy avremo inventato una modalità di comunicare il lavoro fotografico che prima non esisteva.

Jpeggy è un progetto pensato da Telecom Italia in collaborazione con Amaci e con i curatori Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, Flavia Fossa Margutti, Francesco Jodice, Susanna Legrenzi, Filippo Maggia, Stefano Mirti, Massimo Pitis.
