RSS Popfly WebSlice[2] -Despidiéndome de PopFly

Este post es continuación del post RSS Popfly WebSlice[1] -Despidiéndome de PopFly. Para continuar con nuestro proyecto usaremos Expression Web 2.0.

1.-Abrimos Expression Web y creamos un nuevo Sitio Web Vacio

2.- Creamos un nuevo documento ASPX.

3.-Una vez preparado nuestro sitio y documento ASPX tendremos que ir a http://www.popfly.com/ , iniciar sesión y ver nuestros proyectos

4.- Buscamos el proyecto WebSlice Popfly RSS y damos clic en el titulo.

5.-Dentro de la pantalla del Mashup en la parte inferior derecha encontraremos un botón que dice Share lo presionamos para poder compartir nuestro mashup. Si lo deseamos podemos subir una preview del mashup.

6.-Presionamos el botón de Embed para copiar el código que allí nos proporcionen.

7.-El código copiado nos servirá para llamar al mashup desde nuestra pagina ASPX

(*Se modificara el tamaño del iframe del mashup para que quepa en el WebSlice )

8.-Regresamos a Expression Web y en la pagina ASPX colocamos el siguiente código:

Analicemos las líneas importantes del código:

En la linea 9: decimos que el contenido del div pertenece a un WebSlice [class=”hslice”]

En la linea 10: Colocamos el nombre de nuestro WebSlice, tiene el [style display:none] para que no se muestre en la pagina

En la linea 11: Empieza el contenido de nuestro WebSlice

En la linea 12: Pegamos el código de nuestro Mashup de PopFly

En la linea 13: Se cierra la etiqueta div (de la linea 11) indicando que es el fin del contenido de nuestro WebSlice

En la linea 14: Esta línea hace la magia “llamándose a si misma la pagina”. Para que quede mas claro, la pagina se debe llamar RSSPopfly.aspx en este ejemplo.

9.- Guardamos la pagina con el nombre de RSSPopfly.aspx y probamos dando clic en el icono de vista previa

Bueno el Resultado es el siguiente:

10.-Para agregar el WebSlice a nuestra barra de favoritos basta con dar clic en el icono de WebSlices

Una vez agregado nuestro WebSlice a la barra de favoritos el trabajo final queda:

Crearemos un lector RSS con PopFly, el cual será consultado con un WebSlice de Internet Explorer 8.

Entramos a: http://www.popfly.com

1.- Creamos un Mashup

2.- Buscamos el cubo “RSS” y lo arrastramos al área de trabajo

3.-Damos clic en la “herramienta” para configurar el RSS

4.-Colocamos la dirección de nuestro RSS en mi caso coloco la del blog. presionamos aceptar para terminar de configurarlo

4.-Presionamos el icono del “foquito” y aparecerán sugerencias

5.-Seleccionamos el cubo “News Reader” y lo colocamos en el área de trabajo

6.-Unimos los cubos

7.- Configuramos el cubo de la siguiente forma

8.-El resultado final Sera el Siguiente:

Con esto terminamos la primera parte de nuestro WebSlice Popfly RSS en el siguiente post crearemos el WebSlice que se unirá con el Mashup que acabamos de guardar.

Using Microsoft Techonologies with PHP

I have just watched the PHPArch webcast: Connecting PHP to Microsoft Technologies. I’m still not as much fond of interconnecting Microsoft Technologies with PHP since Microsoft Technologies still not cheap, heavy and restricted (not open source), therefore more and more often you seen a growing need for it. Using PHP with a SQL server is becoming every day more and more common.

From the webcast some technlogies where presetented, but from all of them the ones that you might, at this moment, have some good use for are:

Create custom web-slices with LiveSlices

The LiveSlice website has been down for a number of weeks. It appears that it might not be returning.

During my brief stint with IE8 I’ve been making the most of the features that it has to offer. One of these is web-slices. You can also grab an addon for Firefox which replicates this feature, but doesn’t seem to work quite so well. However, the number of webslices provided by site admins is a bit limited. I therefore went on the hunt for a way to create my own. Low and behold, the Internet has an answer in the form of LiveSlices.

The Twitter WebSlice

The site’s aim is pretty simple – create new webslices and enable users to create their own. The site doesn’t yet have many of their own creation, however, the ones it does have are quite useful. I especially like the Twitter slice, which allows you to keep track of your updates from Twitter without visiting the website or using one of the bajillions of third-party Twitter applications vying for your use. As with all other WebSlices, the text changes to bold if there’s new updates, then clicking the item in the favourites toolbar pops a little box down which lets you see your updates without leaving the webpage you’re currently on.

Aside from the rather spiffing Twitter slice, another great feature of the website is the ability to create your own slice from an RSS feed. I’ve never particularly liked RSS feeds because I’ve never seen the reason behind having updates to websites hidden away in your bookmarks. Therefore having an RSS feed in a web-slice makes more sense to me. It will add a drop-down item onto your favourites toolbar which can be clicked to see the latest updates to the feed. I’ve got three news sources – one of which was custom-made with LiveSlices, and a few from other sources. In order to create your own RSS WebSlice you simply need to go to website you want to keep track of, find the RSS feed and copy/paste the URL into LiveSlice’s webpage for creating your own custom RSS slice. You will also need to provide a name and a couple of other settings when doing this. You can then click ‘Install’ to have the slice added to your favourites bar. I had trouble a couple of times when the slice didn’t work correctly when clicked and would refer me to a webpage instead of appearing in a box. I found that deleting it and trying again fixed this.

LiveSlices is a spiffing little website. They’re also working on creating a slice to allow you to add Facebook to your favourites bar. You might be concerned that you’ll end up spending your whole time looking at your social updates from Twitter, but you can counter-balance that by creating your own unsociable feeds for news sources and other such jazzy locations. You can get the feeds and create your own at www.liveslices.com.

Después de la platica de Aceleradores y WebSlice de hace un par de días en la UNEVE, aquí el WebSlice de mi Blog. No les voy a decir como hacer un WebSlices, les recomiendo el post de mi buen amigo Ivan en donde describe como hacer un WebSlice con acceso a datos, aquí la dirección:

Bien, como seguramente ya saben como hacer un WebSlices y saben que es muy fácil aquí tip, para poner un poco más chulos los WebSlices. (aunque el mío no se ve tan chulo xD). El punto es que voy a mostrar los RSS de mi blog en un WebSlice, como saben esto se hace con el microformato:

Pero, aquí hay un problema es un poco complicado pornerle un estilo a nuestro WebSlices pa’ ponerlo chulo, así que la respuesta a esto es hacer referencia a una página que será la que se mostrará en el WebSlices, para esto usamos lo solucionamos haciendo referencia a dicha página htm:

Como se dan cuenta tiene referencia al entry-content, en esta página podemos ponerle diseño para que se vea chulo nuestro WebSlice . Vale mi código para que se muestre mis RSS en un WebSlice con un poco de diseño es el siguiente:

Aquí mi script es el que hace la magia para mostrar los RSS y si se dan cuenta es lo que muestro en el entry-content y al final hago referencia a la misma página, es decir en display.htm tengo este código dentro del body , y por ultimo un poco de css para poner una imagen de fondo y alinear al centro todo este rollo:

Solo un pequeño detalle con esto de redireccionar a una página, es que los WebSlices se agregan con el titulo, cosa que con los otros, no, pero vaya que el hecho de poder poner chulos nuestros WebSlices ya es bastante . Espero que les ayude esto y no olviden votar por el Blog

La scorsa settimana, dopo tre anni dalla presentazione di Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft ha presentato la nuova versione (numero del proprio browser. Gli sforzi per migliorarlo sono effettivamente visibili, sia in termini di velocità sia di nuove funzioni. Solo ora potremmo dire senza ripensamenti che IE è arrivato ai livelli della concorrenza. Con l’ingresso nell’arena di Google e di Apple, che con la versione per Windows tenta di ampliare il proprio mercato ora rilegato ai soli Mac, sono al momento cinque i protagonisti di questa seconda guerra dei browser, che in qualsiasi modo andrà a finire porterà solo vantaggi incalcolabili all’utente finale e alla sua esperienza di navigazione. A partire da questo post presenterò brevemente le cinque nuove (e future) versioni dei browser che accompagneranno il web nei prossimi mesi.

Il nuovo IE è graficamente identico al suo predecessore, con pochi e pratici ritocchi alla propria skin. Questo aspetto favorirà il passaggio da chi oggi ha e usa IE7. Per il resto sono soprattutto due le nuove funzionalità che potranno attirare nuovi utenti.

Gli Acceleratori (vedi lo screenshot 2), una funzionalità che permette di minimizzare le operazioni di copia-e-incolla da un sito all’altro. Ad esempio, è possibile evidenziare un indirizzo e – grazie all’Acceleratore – cercarlo senza altre operazioni su GoogleMaps.
Le WebSlice (vedi lo screenshot 3), una funzione che estende il concetto di Feed RSS e lo applica a porzioni di pagine. Ad esempio, è possibile sottoscriversi ad una WebSlice di un articolo su eBay e controllare l’andamento della vendita senza aprire la pagina.

Ma le novità non finisco qui.

La Barra dei preferiti, ora più potente e versatile, in grado di ospitare anche Feed RSS e WebSlice.
La Casella di ricerca è stata potenziata, includendo suggerimenti sulle parole cercate e l’occorrenza nella cronologia. Funzionalità non nuova agli utenti di Firefox.
Introdotto il filtro SmartScreen, potenziamento del filtro Antiphishing, che a detta di Microsoft è il più veloce e sicuro presente sul mercato. Protegge dal phishing, dall’installazione di malware e software dannoso.
La funzionalità InPrivate Browsing, permette di non salvare alcunché sul pc. Evita che la cronologia, i file temporanei di Internet, i dati, i cookie e le combinazioni nome utente/password vengano memorizzati sul computer. Questa funzionalità sarà presente su tutti i concorrenti, tranne forse Opera, ma Microsoft ci tiene a ricordare che IE è stato il primo a pensare ed implementare questa caratteristica.
L’Automatic Crash Recovery, ovvero il caro vecchio ripristino della sessione già implementato da tempo su diversi altri browser. In caso di crash o blocco del browser (o anche di un singolo tab) permette di riavviare IE8 con tutte le schede e le pagine che erano aperte al momento della chiusura. Sempre in questo campo è importante la scelta di Microsoft di assegnare un processo ad ogni scheda (come accade anche in Google Chrome). In questo modo se la navigazione di un tab si blocca, sarà necessario riavviare solo quello.
Una Barra di esplorazione rinnovata e più potente, evidenzia il dominio del sito (motivi di sicurezza, dicono a Redmond) e permette di cercare tra i preferiti e la cronologia. Tuttavia la funzionalità non è ben implementata come la Barra degli indirizzi intelligente di Firefox.
Il raggruppamento colorato delle schede. Ovvero tutte le tab che appartengono ad uno stesso gruppo comune (come lo stesso sito o lo stesso argomento) sono raggruppate visivamente colorando le linguette delle schede. Da più parti questa funzionalità è stata definita brillante e cool. Personalmente l’ho trovata graficamente mal implementata (soprattutto in confronto all’addon Colorful Tabs di Firefox).

Infine, ma non per importanza, il nuovo motore di rendering, più conforme agli standard dei predecessori e sensibilmente più veloce nel rendering della pagina e nell’esecuzione javaScripts. Secondo un documento pubblicato da Microsoft, Internet Explorer 8 è risultato essere il più veloce tra i browser presenti sul mercato. L’effettiva veridicità di questo confronto è tutta da dimostrare, ma all’uso IE8 sorprende per le proprie perfomance. Dall’installazione non è ancora andato in crash, ha supportato bene anche carichi di lavoro onerosi e ha caratterizzato l’uso per velocità mai viste su Internet Explorer.

Nel complesso l’impressione che se ne ha è decisamente positiva, è tutto tranne che un pessimo browser. E’ una valida alternativa, capace di far immediatamente dimenticare i propri predecessori.

Microsoft has come out with an updated browser, Internet Explorer 8, Beta 2. Lets scan its features, though, it promises to give you a whole new experience in terms of secured Internet browsing, but we should experience those features ourselves.

The new updated beta version is more compatible with web standards.It looks similar to IE 7 but Microsoft has introduced a gamut of new features. You must have also come across new features in Firefox 3, Internet Explorer loyal users will be pleased with the new features, Microsoft has come out with.

Tabbed Browsing

: Tabbed Browsing (Color Coding)

Tabbed browsing is quite common in browsers these days, it indeed is very helpful, but this feature is much more smarter. If you accidentally close a browser window in IE 8, or gets closed itself, due to some application fault, you can opt to restore it, when you reopen the program (similar to what you can do in Firefox). IE 8 will group related tabs together using a color coding.

For e.g. if you open a link from xyz.com in a new tab, it will open adjacent to the original tab, and the tabs themselves will have a matching color.

We have often seen that if we are surfing a website having coding errors, it some times causes the entire program to crash, now with this feature, only the tab displaying the problematic website will crash, allowing you to continue browsing.

Improvised safe browsing

: Inprivate Browsing

If you enable IE 8’s InPrivate feature, the browser will not save any passwords, cookies, log-in info, history and temporary internet files, etc. It would be as if a browsing session has never happened. This feature reminds me of Apple’s Safari browser for Windows, which mentions of Private Browsing as one of its key features. An icon in IE’s address bar makes InPrivate’s active status more obvious.

The browser’s phishing filter-called SmartScreen – is an improved version, with such features like thorough checking of the website addresses (and their hidden urls). The Phishing feature depends on the existing database of phishing websites, so any new website, may pass through it, until it is reported as a phishing site by users.

: Domain Highlighting

It also displays websites’ domains in a darker text (www.gsworldonline.com) highlighting feature is a welcoming feature. So it identifies whether you are actually visiting a genuine website or in reality a page on some other site which you may have never heard of.

Innovative features

Features such as Webslices and Accelerators have been carried forward from IE 8 Beta 1, but is something through which one can popularize feed syndication.

What is a Web Slice?

The Web Slice is based on the hAtom Microformat , with a few additional properties. The Web Slice itself uses simple, semantic HTML markup to represent a portion of Web page that can be subscribed to. Annotations can be applied directly to content within the HTML page; additional files are not required.

What is an accelerator?

An Accelerator is a kind of mini-mashup that delivers information from another website to your current browser page, or that interacts with another website or service. For example, if you’re on a page with a street address, you can highlight the address and choose an Accelerator such as Live Maps or Google Maps. The Accelerator will then display the map in a pop-up or open another tab, depending on how the Accelerator has been written for that site.

Web Compatibility

Creating a website that looks identical in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari can be a challenge. IE 8 Beta 2 offers better support for W3 Web standards

–a set of guidelines developed to ensure that a Web page appears the same in all browsers. The downside is that IE 8 will break some pages designed for earlier Internet Explorer versions.

This happened when I was accessing my blog, it was showing out of place menu, some text and few images. So, switching to compatibility mode will help you view those pages better as they were designed to work for older browsers.

I think, Microsoft is closely studying its rival Firefox and now Apple’s Safari, and is introducing the best of both in IE and I am lovin’ it !

I installed Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 today and was curious to experience all it’s new features.

There are lots of post in the IE blog about various features & facts of IE 8 beta 2 & IE 8 in general. So I thought I just highlight what I feel those here…

I like the enhanced auto complete feature in IE, which I feel is similar to the ‘awesome bar‘ in FireFox 3. (I bumped on this blog post which calls FF address bar as ‘junk’, see if you ever felt like that). I have no idea why the ‘Activities‘ in beta 1 became, ‘Accelerators‘ in beta 2. I guess it’s something to do with marketing and I’m not sure if it has to do anything with Ubiquity of FireFox. In principle, these two are looking different: Ubiquity promises to increase user experience with [existing] mashups, where Accelerators are like plug-ins to IE (here’s how you can create one). But how these are extended in the future will really determine their fate, in their current form

(At time of this writing, one of IE 8 features link still talks about ‘Activities’ only. Here’s the updated page in another location (not sure why two pages!). Hope the names are not changed again, which will definitely bound to create confusion among users. )

I still need to check the In Private browsing on how it is going to change the way I’m going to peep into the Internet. ‘Search Suggestions‘ – simply great improvement. WebSlices are good but they need to be popularized (read ‘be used by all major websites’) first to have very good use across every user of the web. Smart Screen filter is an improvement over the beta 1’s website blocker, but kinda reminds me of FF3.

Overall, it’s thumbs up for IE 8 beta 2. Only using it for a prolonged period will tell me whether it had gotten any better for me . I still have one thing to complain about IE 8 beta about, at least only in my office PC. (strange that things work fine in my laptop. Anyhow, I need to know how to the fix the issue.)

There are other blogs that talk about FireFox & Internet Explorer fight over these features, but I leave it to you to decide which is better. My opinion is that both browsers are getting better everyday.

How to make your site Internet Explorer 8 Compatible - Part 3 - Latest CSS Compliance

In web development, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a stylesheet language used to describe the presentation(i.e. information like fonts, colors, spacing, positioning etc.) of a web document. In today’s highly visual web environment css is a very important aspect to look into.
Another important use of css is to separate data part from the visual part/style in html or other markup languages.

Now, the W3C CSS working group has decided the final specifications for CSS v2.1.
The idea is to enable web developers to write their pages once in such a way that it can be rendered properly in many browsers.

The new Web Developer Toolbar included with Internet Explorer 8 will help in this endeavor. Internet Explorer 8 supports the latest feature set as defined in the specification.

While one of Internet Explorer 8’s main goals is CSS 2.1 compliance, it is also looking forward towards CSS3. CSS3 is the next generation of Cascading Style Sheets. CSS 2.1 consists of one single document, whereas the CSS3 specification is broken down into different modules to make clear specifications and implementations of different other features.

Another aspect of CSS2.1 which is well-implemented in IE8 is Data URI Support.
Data URIs offer the web developers to embed small external resources (like CSS files or images) directly into a URL on a webpage. The primary use for data URIs is the encapsulation of a binary file inside an URL (a stylesheet or image).
Internet Explorer 8’s data URI implementation attempts to balance security with functionality.

Internet Explorer 8 also includes several Printing Improvements.
IE8 implements all CSS 2.1 pagination recommendations, and provide authors with more control and functionality in the print medium.

With IE8 support has been added for some extra printing constructs e.g. @page rule, Page-break-inside property, windows and orphans property etc.
These improvements give developers more control on content pagination.

In IE8 a new feature named “WebSlices” is added for websites to connect to their users by subscribing to the content directly within a web page.

Using WebSlice, users/clients can subscribe to get updates and notify changes to the user.
Even users can add the discovered WebSlices within a webpage to their Favorites bar.

Now, how to design it?
WebSlices are enabled by adding HTML annotations directly to the webpage.
The basic properties of WebSlice are the WebSlice container, Entry Title, and Entry Content.

WebSlice container represents the entire WebSlice containing the title, description, and other WebSlice properties and it is required property.

Entry Title is the title section of the Webslice and there can be multiple instances of Titles. This is also a required property.

Entry Content is an optional property, representing the content part of WebSlice and if blank, passed as an empty string.

بر خلاف انتظار همه، مایکروسافت مرورگر خود را خیلی زود عرضه کرد. نسخه ی Public Beta در دسترس همگان قرار گرفته و شما می توانید Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 را از اینجا دریافت کنید. این نسخه از مروگر مایکروسافت توانایی ها و قابلیت های جدیدی را برای کاربران به ارمغان می آورد. به طور مثال قابلیت های جدیدی با نام Activities و WebSlices که توانایی های IE را توسط ایجاد رابطه ی متقابل با سرویس های اینترنی، به صورت چشمگیری در مرور صفحات وب افزایش داده اند. تغییرات مختلف و سودمند دیگری نیز در این نسخه از IE اعمال شده که در اینجا به معرفی برخی از آن ها می پردازم.

در اولین نگاه IE 8 فرق زیادی با نسخه ی قبل خود ندارد. در حقیقت بسیاری از امکانات پایه ای این مروگر هیچ فرقی با نسخه ی قبل ندارند. فایل setup این برنامه با حجم 14.4 مگابایت برای ویندوزXP سرویس پک 2 و برای ویندوز های Vista و 2003 از سایت مایکروسافت قابل دریافت است. شاید اولین نکته ی خوب IE 8 نصب بی دردسر آن است. بر خلاف سیاست قبلی مایکروسافت، این بار برنامه ی نصب کاری به اصل بودن یا نبودن ویندوز شما ندارد و شما می توانید قبل از اجرای IE 8 تنظیمات مربوط به آن را به راحتی تعیین کنید. حتی امکان Import تنظیمات، بوکمارک ها و آیتم های قابل پشتیبانی مرورگرهای دیگر همچون Firefox را با چند کلیک ساده به شما می دهد. مایکروسافت در این نسخه سعی کرده بسیاری از خصوصیات مرورگر فایرفاکس را در IE8 پیاده سازی کند.

Activities امکانی است که عملیات Copy/Paste را به صورت ساده و سریع ارائه می کند و به شما اطلاعات و امکانات زیادی می دهد. برای مثال شما یک متن را به حالت انتخاب در می آورید و دکمه ی Activities کنار آن ظاهر خواهد شد. این دکمه امکانات خاصی مانند فرستادن متن انتخابی به وبلاگ، فرستادن ایمیل، ترجمه، سرچ در گوگل و … را به راحتی به شما ارائه می کند. شکل روبرو درک این امکان را برای شما ساده تر خواهد کرد.

WebSlices تکنولوژی جدید IE 8 است که مانند فید های RSS عمل می کند. کار کردن با آن بسیار ساده است، شما وارد وب سایتی که از این تکنولوژی پشتیبانی می کند می شوید (مانند eBay یا Facebook) و به راحتی روی دکمه ی WebSlices کلیک می کنید و آن را به نوار علاقه مندی های خود (Favorites Bar) اضافه می کنید. سپس در هر صفحه ای، فونت محتویاتی که به روز شده اند را به صورت ضخیم (Bold) خواهید دید. روی هر کدام که کلیلک کنید، محتویات به روز شده ی آن را مشاهده خواهید کرد. در پنجره ی جدید قادر به باز کردن صفحه ی اصلی یا حذف WebSlices مربوطه خواهید بود.

Favorites Bar در IE 8 شامل تغییراتی است که به نظر من کار کردن با آن از گذشته راحت تر و لذت بخش تر شده است. Favorites Bar جایگزین Links Bar در IE 7 شده است. دسترسی به آیتم های آن سریع تر از قبل میسر می شود و مدیریت آن به علت مجزا بودن بخش های مختلف آن راحت تر انجام می گیرد.

Automatic Crash Recovery یا ACR قابلیتی جدید در IE 8 است که خیلی دیر به این مرورگر اضافه شد. در حالی که فایرفاکس خیلی وقت است از این قابلیت پشتیبانی می کند. فرض کنید در حال مرور صفحات زیادی از وب سایت های مختلف در یک پنجره از مرورگر هستید و ناگهان یکی از صفحات به اصطلاح Crash می کند و IE به صورت نا خواسته بسته می شود و تمامی اطلاعات و صفحات شما از دست می روند! نگران نباشید، ACR برای بازیابی این صفحات و اطلاعات از دست رفته ی شما طراحی شده است و تضمینی برای مرور مطمئن صفحات وب به شما خواهد داد.

Phishing Filter قابلیتی است که از نسخه ی 7 به IE اضافه شده و به صورت بهینه شده در این نسخه موجود است. به ادعای مایکروسافت IE 8 توانایی شناسایی و بلوکه کردن تمامی سایت هایی است که شامل نرم افزارها و کدهای مخرب اند.

Developers Tools که شامل ابزارهایی برای HTML، CSS، اسکریپت نوسی و اشکال زدایی صفحات وب است. این ابزار کمکی برای برنامه نویسان و طراحان وب خواهد بود. مایکروسافت ادعا می کند که این نسخه از IE کاریی بالایی در اجرای اسکریپت ها دارد و از HTML 5 به صورت کامل پشتیبانی می کند. همچنین قول داده که در نسخه ی نهایی IE (نه این نسخه) از CSS 2.1 به صورت کامل پشتیبانی کند.

Add-ons قابلیتی در IE 8 است که به کاربران امکان سفارشی کردن مرورگر را با اضافه کردن افزونه های مختلف می دهد. این قابلیت چیزی شبیه به قابلیت Extensions در فایر فاکس است که مایکروسافت خیلی دیر به فکر اضافه کردن آن افتاد. فعلاً افزونه های زیادی برای IE 8 موجود نیست.

IE 8 شامل یکسری تغییرات در پشت پرده نیز هست. این تغییرات برای سازگاری IE با استانداردهای روز وب اعمال شده اند. این تغییرات شامل پشتیبانی از کامل از CSS، بهبود پشتیبانی از تکنولوژی AJAX، ابزارهای توکار تست صفحات وب و بهینه سازی HTML و کنترل های ActiveX می باشد.

به هر حال این نسخه از IE به عنوان نسخه ی آزمایشی ارائه شده است و من آن را نصب و تست کرده ام. باید صبر کنیم و ببینیم ادعاهای مایکروسافت در عمل چه اندازه به حقیقت نزدیک است و با ارائه ی این نسخه چه تحولاتی در وب سایت ها و آینده ی وب رخ خواهد داد. چیزی که از قبل هم معلوم بود، سرمایه گذاری کلان و تلاش بی وقفه ی مایکروسافت برای پیشی گرفتن از رقیب پرقدرت خود یعنی فایرفاکس است. باید منتظر ماند و دید که در جنگ مرورگرهای وب کدام یک برنده خواهند بود : Internet Explorer یا Firefox؟ نظر شما چیست؟

Sneaky Microsoft. At MIX08, Microsoft’s Web designer and developer conference, the company unveiled the beta release of Internet Explorer 8, plus some other boring stuff like Silverlight 2 and Expression Studio 2.

Dean Hachamovitch, general manager of the Internet Explorer team, demonstrated the latest version of the world’s ~~crappiest~~ most popular browser.

In Beta 1, it allegedly delivers significantly improved standards support and developer platform investments with enhanced user experiences. MS suits also said it increases interoperability, offers developers better predictability when designing sites, and will feature full support for cascading style sheet (CSS) 2.1 at release to manufacturing.

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 includes integrated developer tools to quickly debug HTML, CSS and scripts in a visual environment. Two new features, Activities and WebSlices, will enable developers to reach beyond the page and introduce news ways for users to stay connected to the content and services of their choice. Microsoft dnes vypustil první betaverzi prohlížeče Internet Explorer 8. Na první pohled pokračuje jen další operovatění (= přidávání funkcí, které má Opera již několik let). Na druhou stranu mě tato verze zaujala dvěma novými funkcemi pro vývojáře. Activities a WebSlices budou znamenat malou revoluci.

Activities jsou jakousi obdobou gadgetů z Firefoxu a Opery.

Umožňují např.

vyhledávání textu ze stránek ve slovnících, encyklopedii, odesílání textu e-mailem
přidávání položek do StumbleUpon, Diggu
sdílení obsahu např. přes FaceBook
přímé přidávání obsahu na blog
vyhledávánína mapách

Jednotlivé gadgety budou v tomto oficiálním katalogu Microsoftu (obdoba Google Gadget Directory). Samozřejmě mohou jednotlivé Activities propagovat i vývojáři přímo ze stránek. Pro vývojáře jsou k dispozici návody pro tvorbu.

Activities jsou v podobě kontextového menu. Položky lze samozřejmě libovolně přidávat a mazat.

WebSlices

Tak s touto funkcičkou Microsoft zaperlil. Umožňuje vývojářům přidávat mikroformáty. Používá svou vlastní specifikaci a otevřený standard hAtom. Navíc bude hezky napojena na záložkovou lištu. Ve stručnosti umožňuje vývojářům poslat určitou část své stránky do prohlížeče, což se hodí nejen pro zjišťování nového obsahu. Oproti RSS nemusíte vytvářet třeba feedy pro každý obsahový boxík, stačí ho zapsat ve speciálním formátu. Zde je příklad z doprovodného dokumentu na zobrazování aukčních položek:
