Last week we visited Sydney’s Royal Botanical Garden and didn’t want to miss a chance to shoot whenever we find any good spot. Luckily, not only I carry my camera everywhere, I have a portable model that always ready anytime anywhere. So here you go..

We went to Sydney to shoot Hendra & Siska’s pre-wedding photos and below is the first set of them. If you have read our previous post at Baffi & Mo, these are some of the photos we took that day. Just for your info, the mustache at the last photo is the icon of the restaurant (mo means mustache in Italian) that we borrowed from them. We had a very nice breakfast and would like to thank the staffs again for their great service.

These are just a random shot I took while my girlfriend and I were waiting 45 minutes for the bus at Macquarie Park, NSW. We found a small garden and my girlfriend started to play with the flowers. I just happened to carry my camera with me. 

For those who have read our previous blog “Baffi & Mo”, we are still in Sydney at the moment, shooting for Hendra & Siska’s pre-wedding photos. We love Sydney! What a beautiful cosmopolitan city, yet you can always find a row of heritage buildings in every corner. Such an amazing blend of modern and classic element! There are many great place to shoot at, that’s why we ended up shooting in 9 different locations, mostly around the city area. We are still working on the pictures, meanwhile here are some “behind the scene” pictures we took with iPhone during the photo shoot. We will post some of the finished photos soon, so stay tuned! Our next stop in 24-hours time will be Adelaide. Looking forward to it!

….This wedding took place at the Parliament Buildings in Wellington, New Zealand. A remarkable location with a mixture of ’70’s inspired and Edwardian neo-classical architecture, the grounds are lined with grand Pohutukawa trees where dozens of Tuis sing – it doesn’t get any more New Zealand than this. Love it!

As the wedding season is winding down, I finally have time to update my Web site and blog with some of my favorite pictures from this summer and fall. First out are Jamie and David, who got married at beautiful Sebastiani Vineyards and Winery in Sonoma. I am very grateful I got to be part of their special day!

Mary Beth & Daniel will be married in April next year.  We spent Saturday afternoon at Liberty State Park and on Liberty Island.  It was a warm November day with stunning light.  Shooting with both my beloved Leica M8,

and my awesome Nikon D700, we got lots of wonderful images.

很幸運地近期拍攝的婚禮都是充滿了感動及快樂的時刻。今次為 coco 及 kelvin 拍攝不單看到對於他們婚禮的投入及重視, 細微至有 “coco & kelvin” 紫銀的絲帶; 紫色羽毛的簽名筆, 所有有特色的擺設, 邀請卡, 至到自製的曲奇…身為設計師的我亦十分讚嘆他們所花的心思! 當然不能不提的是身為前新秀冠軍- kelvin 的動聽歌聲。身為工作人員的我亦被感動, congratulation to Coco & Kelvin, 感謝你能令我能夠參與你們精彩的婚禮!!

One of my images just made the cover of Sophisticated Living Weddings. The magazine is also featuring the wedding which took place at the famous Seelbach Hotel in downtown Louisville. Mike and Becky were a complete joy to capture. When Becky exclaimed, “I’m dressed so fancy, it’s like I’m getting married or something today!” we all laughed, but really we were all admiring how gorgeous she looked in that wedding dress. Since they invited friends and family from the East Coast, it made sense to hold the wedding at a hotel to accommodate the out-of-towners and the Seelbach’s elegance and history made it a perfect fit.

These guys sure brought some shame to the “usual” dancers in the middle of a circle… I hope I can get that low in 20yrs! Here are some other images from the wedding that did not make it into the magazine.

Becky and her family are Jewish, but Mike and his family are Methodist so their ceremony consisted of traditions from both a Christian and Jewish wedding, as you may have noticed a Rabbi and a Minister. Following Jewish tradition, the couple was wed under a canopy called a Chuppah. Theirs was made from fabric from Becky’s grandmother’s wedding dress. And the table holding the wine for the ceremony was clothed in handkerchiefs from Michael’s great-grandmother.

After the ceremony, they held an open bar cocktail hour in the foyer where they spent much of their time greeting guests while elaborate appetizers were served. This was also a great time for guests to mingle because so often in a arranged seating reception not everyone gets to say hello.

After a fantastic dinner The Kadillacs, the 11-member band, took the stage and was quite entertaining throughout the rest of the night. The energy from a live band really keeps the dance floor full.

The day went off beautifully without a hitch, even including the riding on chairs! Congrats on your marriage Mike and Becky and thanks again for letting me join in! You can see photos from Mike and Becky’s Engagement Session Here.

We’ve been quite busy editing away, finishing up a few of our weddings and some senior portraits. I just wanted to share some of my finished photos from Jack and Sarah’s wedding a few weekends ago and here they are. I had such a blast working with Sarah and Jack. Mostly because they’re a lot like me. Fairly laid back and always looking for a good time. This is just a sneak peek at a few of their photos. Many more to come soon.

I’ve been messing with a few new (to me) editing techniques. I’m only using these on certain photos as it doesn’t really stick to our photojournalistic style. Just something I’ve been liking a little here and there. Also been playing with borders and making really horizontal photos and diptychs (sp.??). Opinions?

The weather looked unfavorable in Smyrna, Delaware for Amy and Spencer’s wedding day but it cooperated as best it could for some really key moments.  The rain held off for the bride and groom’s exit from the Smyrna Opera House after the ceremony and we were able to escape down the road to Lake Como for a session of formal photographs.  We had a little surprise when I was photographing just the two of them in front of the lake.  It was a very funny and amazing moment when Spencer began pointing as if he saw Superman and at first it was him being silly but then I noticed his expression changed dramatically as well as Amy’s.  I continued shooting them both even though I really wanted to turn around and look.  If i did i feared that it would have been a prank played on me for falling for his antics.  The next thing I knew a giant bald eagle passed directly over our heads and disappeared into the tree line on the other side of the lake.  There is something about a bald eagle that really makes you freeze in your tracks and watch it fly, even if you are trained to keep photographing the moment.  Unfortunately, I did not have my long lens on to capture this graceful creature gliding along the wind current but I was able to catch one shot of the newly married couple seeing the bird for first time.  It looks like a posed shot but I as well as them can assure you we had a real moment.

Casey and Holly were married this summer, but with all the fall colors why not do a post-wedding portrait session? Wedding days can be very busy for a couple, so it was great taking our time and going to a few locations. We took some at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary here in Louisville were I am pursuing my Masters. Every time I go to class I think about how nice it would be to do portraits on campus. I was right. We ended down at the waterfront.

I spent the better part of last week with Lea and Ilex photographing their destination wedding in Montego Bay Jamaica.  It was my first time to the Caribbean and I was fortunate to be there with such a fun and friendly group of people who treated me like a part of the family.  The wedding day went perfectly and a wonderful time was had by all!

I’ve been accepted to join the WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association)  and am thrilled.  This is a great organization that only accepts professional photojournalists working in the wedding field as photojournalists.     www.wpja.com

Shawn and Gretchen were married at a home in Avon in front of close friends and family. Gretchen’s son and Shawn’s two daughters were the only people in the bridal party. I felt fortunate to be part of such an intimate wedding.
