So here I am, sitting in a small little Starbucks right smack in the middle of Queen Street and all

So here I am, sitting in a small little Starbucks right smack in the middle of Queen Street and all I gotta say is I love it.

You know you’re in Toronto when you’re walking down the street and half the people you see are Chinese. Again, I love it! I mean, shouldn’t every culture be incorporated into the city in which they live, it’s only fair, and when it happens it’s awesome.

Day two of the one-week vacation is pretty legit and I can’t wait to see what’s to come. Here’s a recap of what happened on day one:

- I awoke in a cute, little apartment in Hamilton, Ontario where my sister (Flavia) prepared me for the day with a chicken sandwich and a greek salad for brunch.
- Wherefrom Flavia and I travelled to Coffee Culture for a coffee and free wireless internet, and of course to our luck, the wireless wasn’t working there, so, we journeyed to Williams Coffee, and to our luck we had free internet. We stayed there for hours before heading over to Flavia’s fiances place (Vince) and therefrom I caught the 7:30 GO-Bus to the big city of Toronto!
- Upon arriving I awaited on another sister of mine (Nadia) to get me. When she arrived we headed out to her place to watch a movie.

IMPORTANT INFO. BELOW!
———————————————————————————————————————–
Advice From Matt Dragos

If you’re stuck in a movie store and have no idea what to rent for the night, let me tell you, don’t rent Watchmen. It’s such a brutal movie and I would give it 1 of 5 stars. The plot line was dumb, the intensity was non-impressive and the length was unbearable!
————————————————————————————————————————-

So then day two began like any normal day; get up, shower, eat, head out. Well.. maybe not so normal, I did not eat. I headed out to Nadia’s work and ate a sweet meal there: jalapeno wrap, with spicy chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato with jalapeno mayo and chipotle sauce. It was good and I guess a Texas thing?

After grabbing some brunch it was time to journey Toronto on my own. So with confidence, I headed out on Queen street looking for a Starbucks to write my next blog in. All I can say is the streets of Toronto amaze me! I love the diversity and culture packed in just a little dot, when viewed from what we call, earth. Even right now, sitting in Starbucks, I can look around the store and see so many different types of people. I see; men, woman, black, white, different cultures and styles, a priest and a homeless man. I LOVE IT!

But on my way to this cafe, I definitely journeyed through some interesting stores. I checked out Steve’s Music Store and saw some of the sweetest bass guitars! I travelled past the condom shack and stopped and debated if I should walk in or not, which I didn’t! And of course found the Starbucks I was looking for

So remember earlier in the post when I said my sister Flavia’s fiance, well, yup, she’s engaged, finally! It’s awesome, I’m so stoked for her and Vince. Yup, Vince DelMonte, fitness expert! (Check him out in the links below). Anyway, she’s been waiting to get married for years, and finally at 29, it happened and I’m sure that she can say it was well worth the wait. The wedding is planned for June 26, 2010 and it should be a beautiful wedding! I can’t wait. I most definitely approve of the one and only Vince DelMonte.

I think it’s only fair to mention the guys I respect most cause being away I miss them! The three best friends; Scott, Ty & Derek! I love you guys and miss you guys so much! Can’t wait to be back at the end of this week and chill with you guys! I spend so much time with these dudes. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this guys, they’re always there for me, waiting patiently for me when I’m hurting or in a bad mood. These guys have done so much for me and I’ve definitely can’t ask for better friends that’s for sure! Love you guys!

So I think this ends my blog, seeing as Starbucks is only giving me two hours to use their internet and I’m almost out of time!
What I’ve got planned for tonight is to head over to my sister, Nadia’s friends place for dinner. I heard he’s going to be making us a sweet dinner and I’m pretty stoked to chomp this meal down. After that, we’ll see what happens, I mean we’re in the city right!

Stay tuned tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after, and three days from now for more blogs. I’ll try to get some videos up here but it’s pretty hard to record in the middle of a Starbucks!

Much Love,

Calculated Power Rankings, Unit Strength, Strength of Schedule, and Estimated Final Record following

Calculated Power Rankings, Unit Strength, Strength of Schedule, and Estimated Final Record following week 10 of the NFL season. I use an engineering method of iteratively solving for best fit to the data (scores) to create the ranks and related applications that corrects for opponents played.

Everything is based on correcting the scoring offense and defense of each team for opponents, by calculating the expected scoring against an average opponent, instead of averaging the points scored against the actual opponents played. This allows all teams are evaluated on a level plane. Power is defined as scoring offense minus scoring defense, the list sorted by the net difference.

I run a full season calculation, and a most recent 4 weeks calculation and blend them (4:1) to acknowledge change and teams that are hot/cold.

Power Rank:

New Orleans reclaims its spot at the top with a dominating win over the Patriots. The rest of the top 6 remains fairly static, with only the Charges and Ravens trading places. The Chargers continue their march toward the top. They have had a warm fire burning in the change indicator the bulk of the season, showing strong sustained growth week after week.

7 to 14 is a densely packed group of above average teams. Only 1.8 ppg net separates #7 from #14. Green Bay strongly moves up in this group this week, from where it was last week right at the bottom of it. Each team in that group has the power to get hot and make some waves. Houston and San Francisco are withing striking distance of joining the group. We’ll see a team or two rise above the group shortly.

#29 to #32 is a block of 4 almost equally awful teams that have been shifting around much of the season.

This is becoming a season of offense, at the top of the ranks the top offenses are rising up and clumping together much moreso than the top defenses, a reversal of last season.

Tennessee remains the hottest team in the NFL again this week. They are simply on a terror. Again though the change is showing a trend of declining teams at the top and rising teams at the bottom, really all it is doing is making the field denser. The teams near the bottom in change are predictable, each has declined significantly from where they began the season.

Net = Projected net scoring agaisnt an average opponent (PPG)
Off = Projected offensive scoring against an average defense (PPG)
O Rk = Rank of offense
Def = Projected scoring by an average offense against the defense (PPG)
D Rk = Rank of defense
Chg = Difference between data run of most recent 4 weeks and full season (hot/cold) (PPG)
C Rk = Rank of change.

Strength of Schedule:

Instead of using points, or quality opponents, etc, the method that I chose to rank the strength of schedule is the average power rank of opponent played. The current power rank is used and each week the full season recalculated.

Seas = Average power rank of all opponents all season
Prev = Average power rank of teams played thus far
P Rk = Ranked difficulty of past schedule
Fut = Average power rank of teams yet to be played
F Rk = Ranked difficulty of future schedule.

Estimated Final Record:

I use the power rank, current record, and future opponents to estimate the final record for the team. The net scoring against an average opponent for one team is subtracted from another to determine who is favored and by how many points.

If a team is favored by 14+ points, I assumed that they win 100% of the time.
If a team is favored between 7 and 14 points, I assumed that they win 80% of the time.
If a teams is favored between 0 and 7 points, I assumed that they win 60% of the time.
If a team is not favored between 0 and 7 points, I assumed that they win 40% of the time.
If a team is not favored between 7 and 14 points, I assumed that they win 20% of the time.

Very little change this week in order. In the AFCN, Baltimore and Pittsburgh trade places, the rest of the field remains the same. The AFC wildcard race seems to be a 3 horse race, with Baltimore and Denver currently leading the pack, and Pittsburgh a game back threatening, the rest of the teams will need to get extremely hot, the only team that appears to have the heat on their side is Tennessee. In the NFC, the wildcard race is starting to become clear. Green Bay and the NFCE 2nd place are the current favorites, with Atlanta a game back. All the other teams will need to get hot immediately, with no teams showing signs of igniting.

Power Ranking Performance:

Week 1 record – 14-2
Week 2 record – 11-5
Week 3 record – 12-4
Week 4 record – 11-3
Week 5 record – 7-7
Week 6 record – 9-5
Week 7 record – 9-4
Week 8 record – 7-6
Week 9 record – 8-5
Week 10 record – 8-7
Week 11 record – 12-4
Week 12 record – 12-4
Total – 120-56
Missed Last Week – NYG-Den, Mia-Buf, Tn-Ari, NO-NE

Overall a pretty good week. Missed on the 2 predicted upsets (NO-NE, Tn-Ari), also missed the two upsets while picking the favorite.

Enjoy

Yes, exactly a millennium ago. Then the whole Indian subcontinent was a conglomeration of small kin

Yes, exactly a millennium ago.

Then the whole Indian subcontinent was a conglomeration of small kingdoms. We belonged to a small one, may be the size of Delhi. It was independent, wedged between two powerful neighbors: the Samoothiripad in the North and some principality belonging to the area, now known as Thiruvithankur (Travancore). Our Cochin state was free from corruption. People were generally happy. One English writer described the India of those times as ‘thousands of villages’, each a republic governed by the village elders. None had money. Gold was used only for making ornaments. Wealth was measured in terms of paddy earned by each family (I am talking in terms known to me). The artisans made clothes, agricultural implements, gold ornaments; made tenements out of mud and hay or palm leaves (cobbler was unknown as none wore foot wear). Brass and bronze works were excellent, as also wood work. Landlords enjoyed leisure and bonded laborers did the work. The latter were fed even when there was no work. All people were known to each other. Even in my childhood, thefts were limited to coconut and plantain! There was plenty of time for any leisurely activity like literature, sports and arts.

All were happy, even though epidemics took a heavy toll of men but not animals.

Let us examine, item by item, how life was then and what we have achieved now.

1) Life was secure then. None was worried about his future. Mostly, traditional vocations were followed, the society being caste-ridden. How will my children live after my time? The question never worried any body. Anxiety on this account was unknown then. Today, every moment we are concerned about it (of course, I am not talking about the Ambanis)

2) All works were done manually. This kept life style diseases away. People were healthy. The rich people suffered from diabetes, B.P and heart attacks. The poor people were spared. Today, the middle class too have become rich as far as life style is concerned. We don’t exert. Remote control ensured that we need not even move. So we suffer from all diseases of the rich.

3) The vaidyaji took care of health problems. I don’t remember ever going to a doctor. The Namboodri house stood in the middle of a spacious plot of land. We had our own well and at least one pond. No fencing, we never wounded mother Earth with the pick axe or spade. It was like a forest. Things just grew. Village people scouted for medicinal plants or mangoes in the season. They never asked us. In the month of Karkidagam (Sawan) ladies adorned the hair with “Dashapushpam” (ten flowers). After the land reforms, we too became proletariat, when our only source of earnings was taken away. The land was handed over to the tillers. Today land is fallow because none can afford to grow food. Wages are high and labour is not available in Keralam.

I have digressed. We were discussing medicine. The vidyaji will only prescribe the medicines. If these cannot be had from the land, there is a shop selling them. Medicines, in soup form, were made at home. People may give some gift like plantain. The belief is that if vidyaji demands compensation, he will lose his ability to diagnose and treat the illness.

When the people of the West were barbarians (say B.C1000) Ayurvedic system of medicine was well developed in India. At Rajgir in Bihar, I was shown the excavated remains of a hospital where the royal families were treated. Even today Ayurveda can hold its head high in certain fields. But the sanctity of the system was violated when it was commercialized. Now, medicinal soups are bottled and preserved, rendering them sometimes ineffective.

Today, medical treatment is nothing but shameless exploitation of the masses. Multi speciality hospitals cater to the rich. The poor people survive by grace of God. 50% of the medicines sold in the market are absolutely useless. (It was in the newspapers.) All medicines have side effects. Fees must be deposited in advance (pity the vidyaji). As doctors are “manufactured” in thousands, who can guarantee their quality? (Merit is ignored; caste is the basis for selection of students). Each hospital should earn profit. Or else, it will be closed down. So it must be ensured that people fall ill, as frequently as possible. As soon as a baby is born it is given ten injections, to make sure that its immunity system doesn’t develop. The bird flu was unknown then. Today also desi chickens are not affected. Artificial methods have destroyed the capacity to resist diseases.

To make people fall ill, fast food culture is deliberately encouraged. To the capitalist, a patient is also a consumer. The only aim is profit. To hell with health! We want every citizen to be in the hospital so that profit can swell.

4) Education was totally free of lucre then. I was thrilled to see rows of neatly made hostel rooms at Nalanda which was just a name until Sir Alexander Cunningham traveled in the foot steps of Huen Tsang and saw small hills covered with grass and shrubs. He suggested excavation of the area which was started in 1914. Even today, a few work men may be seen digging leisurely; it may take another hundred years at this rate, to uncover the whole township. More than four hundred years B.C, it was a beacon of learning, attracting scholars from all over the East. They did not come to get a degree and campus selection for lucrative jobs. They just wanted to learn. Among them was a young man. No body knew he was a prince. He came in tattered clothes and was emaciated like a beggar, after wandering in the forest, begging for food. His name was Gautama. He spent several years in the campus, endlessly discussing the causes of pain and misery and suffering of human beings. (At Bodh Gaya, he is depicted as well fed and handsome- a real prince charming. His devotees want something pleasing to the eye). I admire him. I like to see Takshashila too!

In the villages, education was the concern of guruji. There was close, personal relation- ship with Guruji and the students who stay with him. Remember the story of Krishna and Sudama who were ordered by guru patni (wife) to fetch fuel from the forest? (I am reminded of an incident I read in a memoir. An English lady accepts an assignment to teach English to the Crown Prince of Japan. She was going through some notes when she wanted the fan to be switched on. She asked the Prince and failed to understand the hesitation in her pupil’s face. Suddenly the realization came. How can anybody give orders to a Prince? Of course, the pupil obeyed.) No tuition fee. In the end, some guru dakshina (gift) is given. That is all.

And today? By any stretch of imagination, can you call it education? True learning should aim at liberating the brain power from the shackles of the body, so it can soar higher and higher towards the heaven, scanning the whole universe and beyond. The questions why and how should continuously and intensely torment the inquisitive mind. Learning is tapasya. (Concentrated study). Total detachment from the worldly chores is an absolute must.

In the present system, children are being hypnotized to believe that every thing written in the text book is absolutely true. The only aim is to secure maximum marks in the examination, by hook or by crook. Whether you like a subject is immaterial. Money is the supreme god. (Lakshmi is worshiped by all, everywhere. Is there a single temple of Saraswati? I think there is one in Keralam) The best brains are hijacked by capitalism and enslaved to make more and more profit. Is there any wonder that educational standards are going down every year?

In Russia, when capitalism was abolished in 1917, education became free. Science was made number one priority. (Here MBA is made much of because capitalists want them to work for profit). The results are there, for all to see. From the most backward state in Europe, Russia overtook the US in space research. The first man to go up in space was

a Russian. Production of electricity was taken up as the most urgent task. Heavy industry almost outpaced consumer industry. (Indian students who went to study in Moscow found soaps and blades stolen frequently). The all powerful Germans were defeated by Russians in second world war.Without heavy industry backed by S & T, this would have been impossible.

After 1956, the first science city was established in Siberia. From wilderness intended for exiling undesirable characters, Siberia became a treasure of coal, minerals etc. and fully industrialised, an achievement impossible under capitalism. Science is the instrument of this of this revolution.

Today here we find education being converted into a lucrative industry, in which millions are invested to reap huge profits. Government schools are for the poor- no equipments, no teachers, and no books.

Order of preference of students seeking higher education is somewhat as given below:

MBA

IIT

Medicine

Info technology

Commerce

Economics

Geology

Pure science

Geography

Those who fail to get admission for the coveted courses, go for pure sciences. In communist Russia scientists were given maximum salary. They commanded great influence in decision making. Here in Delhi we do not have a science centre where those interested may gather together for a chitchat. Easy access to science literature is a must.

Many of you may think that modern science originated in the west. This is a total misconception .Some of the things our forefathers have recorded in so many words, are stunningly dazzling.

1) That the earth is a globe

2) Earth attracts objects towards itself

3) Earth is rotating: the sun and stars are stationary

4) Shadow of the earth is cause of lunar eclipse

5) Dalton’s atomic theory

6) that the foetus in the womb recognizes sounds and starts learning mother tongue, much before it comes out of the woumb.(Abhimanyu learned strategy of warfare, while still in Uthara’s woumb, according to Mahabharatam.I first read about it in Bhagawat puran.By sheer coincidence, actual scientific confirmation was reported in the newspapers at that period some 8 years back).

These are just a few instances. As all this is written in Samskrutam. People do not even know about it. It is a pity that we have to learn about such things from foreign sources.

Astronomy originated in India at least 5000 years ago. In Egypt too studies in this field progressed at that time. The Malayalam calendar came into existence 1184 years ago. It is based on the movement of the Sun around the equator .The number of days of each month is calculated every year, so that we are not aware of the leap year.

So, before the Malayalam era came into existence, how did they know their age? Each year was given a name. Only 60 years were given names; thereafter the names are repeated.

Each one must remember the name of the month and Nakshatra (the name given to the group of stars where the Moon appears each day) and also the name of the year of birth , so that his age can be counted. (Like the week. If I am born on Wednesday my age will be the fourth day.) That is why sixtieth birthday is celebrated. The names of the years are repeated, after 60 years.

Two thousand years ago, an European was unable to tell his age. Intellectually, we were far ahead. The Nalanda Vishvavidyala and library were ransacked and burnt by Muslim invaders sometime in fifteenth century. That was the end of a civilization. Knowledge got fossilized in Samskrutam texts to be explored by European Indologists. If these books were available in Hindi or Dravidian languages, history would have been different.

5) Production of food grains, cloths, agricultural implements, kitchen utensils etc. was regulated according to the needs of the village.Transportation was restricted to the bare

minimum. I am not a historian. Perhaps conveyance was restricted to movement of goods.Today production is chaotic. In any society based on rational lines, the requirements will be calculated and production regulated according to the needs. In a market controlled economy, waste is inevitable. Any number of factories are producing cars. Think of the brain power used in designing. If all this is centalised (in this age it is easy) we can have the best model of cars, buses etc. Expenses on advertisement and sales can be saved. Cars will become cheap. Similarly food and other agricultural products can be produced according to requirement. There will be no shortages nor glut. Why can’t we do it? (See my article: Man is the most foolish animal in the world).

6) For sheer joy and entertainment people were engaged in cultural and sports activities. Competition was healthy and without rancour.

Today, what we saw in the cricket world is the influence of money. Before future historians, we will have to hang our head in shame!

Local festivals, drama , music etc were meant for healthy entertainment and people were not glued to their TV sets !

I don’t want to go back to AD 1008. At the same time, I want to change the system to be reorganized along rational lines. Are we not intelligent creatures?

It was not an impressive week, but in the end, it was a 6-6-2 tie with Brewer Sucks!, and Da Dummboy

It was not an impressive week, but in the end, it was a 6-6-2 tie with Brewer Sucks!, and Da Dummboyz are still in 2nd place with 126 points. The Skullchuckas, though they were beaten by the Moose Men, continue to remain in 1st place at 141 points in the standings. The Butt Scratchers sit in 3rd with 121 points, while the Hanson Brothers are in 4th with 117 points and the Lamp Lighters have 116 points in 5th place. Brewer Sucks! have 111 points, the Puckhoggs are at 109 points, the Moose Men total 108 points, the Normans have 92 points, and the Wild Vikings are in last with 79 points to round out the standings. So, the top teams are still pretty tight at this point in the season.

Overall, Da Dummboyz won the goals category with 11-8, +/- 5–2, power play points 8-6, short-handed points 2-1, shooting percent .110-.086, and goaltending games started 8-6. We tied with goaltending games won 3-3, and we both had 0 shut outs.

Evgeni Malkin and Brad Boyes each had 2 goals and 2 assists, and Dan Boyle had 2 goals and an assist to lead the offense. Marion Hossa had 2 goals in his season return against the Sharks on Wednesday, but those were his only points for the week with 2 other games played Friday and Saturday. Jarome Iginla had a goal and 4 assists, Patrick Marlow had 3 goals and 1 assist, Martin St. Louis had 4 assists, and Scott Hartnell had 1 goal and 2 assists to lead Brewer Sucks!. I am not completely sure, but from the look of his stats, it appears he didn’t even set his lineup all week, as all of his bench players have no stats credited to him ……..

The Islanders are still chugging along. They had a wild win against the Leafs in a shoot out last Monday 4-3 in Toronto which Duane Rollerson faced 61 shots, they lost to the Flyers 2-1 on Wednesday at home, they beat the Penguins at home 3-2 in an impressive game on Friday, but folded in the 3rd period on Saturday to lose to the Devils 6-1 in Jersey. Worse yet, Andy Sutton and Frans Nielsen are now both hurt. Yes, the rash of injuries seem to have effected the Isles too. They don’t play again until Thursday in Atlanta against the Thrashers.

Da Dummboyz are matched up against the Lamp Lighters for this 9th week of fantasy hockey. Hopefully, the offense will pick up and the goaltending of Steve Mason will improve. I dropped Mattias Ohlund and picked up Anton Stalman of the Blue Jackets on the back line. I don’t know if that move will help me any more than dropping Bryan Little and picking up Kyle Okposo. When Ryan Smyth returns, a decision will have to be made as to who to drop.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had an amazing Turkey Day! Since I was with the Fam last weekend, I spent Thanksgiving with a friend and her family, then spent the rest of the weekend relaxing. I usually avoid Black Friday like the plague, but when I ran out to get my morning coffee, I tripped into a store and and walked out with a new coat, boots, and a couple skirts, shirts and a dress… by far the most expensive coffee to date. BUT everything was a GREAT deal.
Did you guys have any luck on Black Friday?

Shirt: $10
Skirt: $12
Boots: $30 (all the above on super sale at a random store on my street)
Legging: Dance leggings from a friend at work
Watch: Thrifted $8

Have you ever had those weeks where you just wanna get away? I’m sure you have.. well I’

Have you ever had those weeks where you just wanna get away? I’m sure you have.. well I’m in one right now. Most of the time we’re not able to get away because of our busy-boring lives that we don’t want to live out for the week to come.. well for me, I can get away, and I’m only at the beginning of my weeks journey.

I decided a week in Toronto should do the trick. You see, I have a big family, spread out across Canada (and one in Australia) that I am able to see when I please, so when I thought about the city, my sister came to mind. She is able to give me a key to her place where I can crash every night of the week while spending countless hours doing my own thing in the city.. I’m thinking lots of Starbucks!

So part one of my epic journey started last night when I arrived at a friends birthday party in Hamilton, Ontario. I had a good time meeting a ton of new people and when the night came I passed out on the couch at my sisters flat in the same city. I’m currently still here at her one bedroom apartment and later on we’re heading out to Coffee Culture to spend some time on our computers and have a little chat.

Once four-o-clock creeps around I’ll be jumping on the GO-Train to head out to Toronto where I’ll be exploring many exciting new things and where I can clear my head.

I’m pretty excited about this and I will try my best to keep you updated. It should work out pretty nice.
I’m sorry about no video blog today, I’ll try to record some in Toronto.

Love you guys,
Matt Dragos

Ke$ha (above) and Jay-Z and Alicia Keys (top)

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys‘ “Empire State of Mind” holds atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a second straight week with gains in all chart components: airplay, sales and streaming.

The track’s 10.4 million airplay bump is second only to Ke$ha’s 12 million listener spike for “Tik Tok” which takes the Airplay Gainer award as it rises 10-5.

The Digital Gainer (up 49%) is Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” which makes a heady 11-2 leap on the Hot 100 while surging 5-1 on Digital Songs, her third chart-topper on that list.

Could Gaga’s mid-show performance on ABC’s “American Music Awards” on Nov. 22 have spurred last minute downloads prior to the tracking week’s midnight deadline? Possibly, though radio airplay for the track (up 25%) is certainly a catalyst as well. Regardless, next week’s chart should reflect the full effect of the AMA’s on download sales for the featured acts and their tracks.

Also moving into the top 10 (12-7) is French DJ/Producer David Guetta, with vocal help from Akon, on “Sexy Chick.” The track, which topped Dance/Club Play Songs in October, also makes rare concurrent top 10 jumps on component charts Radio Songs (11-7) and Digital Songs (11-8).

Elsewhere in the top 10, Owl City’s “Fireflies” descends 2-3, staying a spot above Jason DeRulo’s “Whatcha Say” (3-4). “Replay” by Iyaz slips 4-6, Lady Gaga is up a rung (9-8) with “Paparazzi,” Britney Spears‘ “3″ has a multiplication type move from 6-9, and “Down” by Jay Sean falls 7-10.

The chart’s Hot Shot Debut belongs to John Mayer’s “Half of My Heart” at No. 25. Since it’s a duet with the red hot Taylor Swift, it’s no surprise this track from the country’s No. 1 album is that set’s most downloaded (No. 12 on Digital Songs, 86,000).

Other notable debuts include four more tracks from the cast of FOX’s “Glee” and three tracks from Justin Bieber. With debuts for “Down To Earth” (No. 79), “Bigger” (No. 94) and “First Dance,” featuring Usher (No. 99), Bieber has now charted with all seven songs from his debut EP “My World.” That set opens at No. 7 on the Billboard 200.

*Italiano*

Buon download !

* English*

Want to buy a video for free? Here is the solution to your problems: iStockphoto from the beginning of 2009 allows each week to its members to be able to buy a video to € nil. You say but that convenience will draw the owner of the video? Here the convenience is very much, in fact who sells the video in this way has a great visibility within the site because it is being put on the first page of the site. This allows the artist to get noticed in the community to be even more attractive to the market. Say that many video istocker aspire to be chosen to have a video for sale free of charge.

This week it touched (so to speak) to chayne64

So if anyone wants to download the video to the site can register for free. How do you say? Have fun!

There are quite a few NFL games I like this week. So let’s just get right to them: CIN vs CLE

There are quite a few NFL games I like this week. So let’s just get right to them:

CIN vs CLE; CIN -13, u-39.5

Nothing about Cleveland has changed my mind about them. Sure, they put up a bunch of points against Detroit (more than they had scored in the previous 5 games combined), but that was against the Lions. And look at how many points they gave up. Cincinnati needs this game as a pick-me-up after their embarrassing loss to the Raiders last week. I’m seeing 31-6.

TB vs ATL, ATL -12, o-46

I must warn you, I don’t know if I’d play this game. I’m including it since my GFS is calling it but I have a feeling it is skewed toward Atlanta due to earlier season trends when Atlanta was doing well and Tampa wasn’t. Both have flipped a U. Well I don’t know if you could call the Buccaneers a 180 turn because they’ve still only won 1, but the fact that the Falcons have only won 1 in their last 5 gives me cause for concern. I still think Atlanta will pull it off but maybe not by 12. 28-21, at most 31-21.

CAR vs NYJ; NYJ -3.5, 0-41.5

Here we have another example of two team on crossing paths. The Jets started how and have slowly cooled to a simmer, while the Panthers are just revving up now and they seem to have met right at 4-6 records. I think the Jets are the better team, though, and Rex Ryan has had enough of losing to mediocre teams. As long as the Jets can control their turnovers, they’ll win. I may buy 1 point on this game, though, as I could see it being won by a field goal to make it 34-31. Otherwise, I see 28-34.

SEA vs STL, SEA -4, u-42.5

As a dedicated Hawks fan, this makes me nervous. Seattle is just the kind of ball club to lose to the Rams right now. I think the Seahawks are a much better team but they have too many mental problems right now. I want to take this one so bad as Seattle has the potential of a huge slaughtering, but I could see it going the other way as well. The most likely case I see is this game is a mess with tons of turnovers but the Hawks win it 24-17.

WAS vs PHI, PHI -9, o-40.5

Yet another one I’m on the fence with, but in the end I have to go with the stronger team. The Eagles haven’t looked good in 3 weeks now, while the Redskins beat the Broncos by 10 two weeks ago and nearly shut out the Cowboys until a late game drive put Dallas on the board to win the game 7-6. We may not see the full return of the Eagles as Westbrook is still out, but I think Washington’s inability to capitalize on their defensive success last week foreshadows their inability find any success this week. Eagles win 31-17.

Those are all the games I’m going to give you this week. I’ll write up an in-depth report the Monday Night game later. Best of Luck!

This is probably one of the best golf releases Upper Deck had within the short span that they manufactured golf products. Many collectors believe that Tiger’s best rookie comes from ‘01 SP Authentic, but in my mind his true rookie will always be his S.I. for Kids from 1996. Technically this contains his first autographed rookie. Each hobby box contains 24 packs with 4 cards per pack. For a golf product, these still sell extremely well and can usually be found for $150.00 to $200.00. You can look for 2 autographs and 1 relic card per box.

So I haven’t blogged in a while (as usual) so here’s a little update on my life.

Im addicted to scrabble application on facebook, tis bad. I should be doing uni work not learning random new words that I never knew even existed (and now I can’t even remember them to expand my vocab with – story of my life).

In the wee small hours of Thursday morning whilst walking home from town I discovered a Tesco trolley, and much to Anthony’s ammusement I proceeded to push it home claiming it would do for taking the bottles to the bank. (Anthony wanted to drag it up to my actual flat, I refused and left it in the passageway. Then Antz dropped his phone and hopefully lost the video of me pushing a trolley. Then I shut the door in his face, oh fun). But anyway, back to the trolley… I eventually took the bottles and jars to Tesco under the cover of darkness tonight (with the help of Becki [well I didn't want to be a fool on my own]). It was sooo embarrasing, the paths all bumpy so the trolley rattled a lot, and rattled even noisier due to all the bottles in it. We got so many hacky looks off people who probably thought we were right alkies (the bottles were actually mainly from last year, just no-one had bothered to take them away). I totally wish you got paid like 50p for each bottle and jar you recycled. I’d probably have at least £20 out of it then….there was a lot of bottles!

I went to see New Moon last Sunday. It was well good but I really can’t be bothered to blog on my opinions or my laughings at the fools in the audience (I really should at somepoint, give you a laugh).

I wrote my xmas list, its very dull and sparse. It even has a book for uni on it, thats how crap it is.

Spotify is working again :] so I’ve been listening to the New Moon soundtrack <3 (its on my xmas list) and Kill Hannah’s latest cd (also on my xmas list, I normally download their stuff but decided to give them some money seeing as they got their van stollen with all their shiz in it).

I’m addicted to Misfits on e4. I love Nathan, he has the best lines ever! Though Simon has the nicest blue eyes ever.

I’ve just watch season 1 of the Big Bang Theory for like the 5th time since I borrowed it off Chris. This time I remembered to pause it at the end to read the Chuck Lorre vanity cards. Most where pretty funny and interesting, though the 2 that said click to play dont seem to do anything, I even tried it on my laptop :[

I'm going through a boardgame fetish at the moment...but I have no one to play with and I cant afford any new ones (I still really want Cat Attack, The War On Terrorism and Munchkin Land [think thats what its called]).

Speaking of fetishes, someone has stollen our green wheelybin as it wasnt brought in in time (I took it out therefore I refused to bring it in). It has our address written on but its now vanished. The council guy said they have problems with bins vanishing round our area. Either it’s been locked in the alley behind the chinese and laundrettes or somewhere nearby there is a person sitting in their house rubbing their hands together and laughing manically whilst gazing lovingly at their large collection of green wheelybins. (I prefer the later option).

So I can’t think of anything else to write at the moment, my life’s not that exciting I guess

I will be filing the videos into the public court record on Monday.”

Dave Evans couldn’t find a sandwich he liked when he moved to L.A.; so he created one: a Thanksgiving dinner on a bun, available every Thursday, September to April — except on the holiday itself.

Dave Evans, owner of Dave’s Chillin-n-Grillin in Eagle Rock, puts up orders of the Pilgrim: a French roll filled with grilled turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and turkey gravy, served most Thursdays, September to April. (Ricardo DeAratanha, Los Angeles Times / November 12, 2009)

Sadly, Thanksgiving’s feast lasts but a few days, depending on how fast you plow through leftovers.

But at Dave’s Chillin-n-Grillin in Eagle Rock, the traditional holiday meal is served every Thursday — on a bun.

It’s called the Pilgrim: For $7, patrons get a French roll filled with grilled turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and turkey gravy.

In New England, where shop owner Dave Evans is from, the sandwich is especially popular after Thanksgiving. A hearty delight for lovers of leftovers.

So when Evans, 44, opened his shop in Eagle Rock about five years ago, a friend encouraged him to add the Pilgrim to the menu.

“I started doing it on Thursdays, being the Thanksgiving day,” Evans said.

Damon McNeil, 32, manager of a nearby coffee shop, has ordered the turkey sandwich almost every Thursday for four years. “It’s awesome,” he said. “I usually get it with a little extra cranberry sauce on the wheat roll.”

Evans serves the Pilgrim from September until April. He said he got the idea to open a shop in Los Angeles after arriving in 1988 because he couldn’t find a sandwich here that he liked.

“Every time I spent a five-dollar bill for a sandwich, I felt totally abused and ripped off,” he said. “Half the times I wouldn’t even finish it. Sometimes they weren’t even [edible] — like, jeez, I wouldn’t feed this to a dog, you know.”

So, after just a few months, he quit his job in the hotel industry and headed back to New England, where he opened several sandwich shops and learned the business in a neighborhood that he says has bakeries, delis and sandwich recipes older than California.

Evans has had plenty of experience with food, having worked in 24 restaurants since age 16. Once he even tried to publish a cookbook, “Halfway to Bed,” a guide on how to make dinner for others.

But he wanted this shop to combine all that experience with what he learned from business classes in college in Massachusetts, the successes and failures he’d seen from other restaurants he’d worked at, and his appreciation for high-quality ingredients in a market he believed was lacking.

“I knew I was going to come back and open a sandwich shop because they didn’t have any good ones,” said Evans, who comes from an entrepreneurial family.

In 2005, after stints at various clubs and restaurants in Hawaii and California, Evans bought the lease of a juice shop on Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock “for a steal” and opened Dave’s Chillin-n-Grillin.

The original business plan was to make the best $5 sandwich possible. But for years the shop was hemorrhaging money because of high food costs.

Now, the plan is to simply turn a profit.

“It hasn’t changed much,” Evans says. “It’s still the best sandwich I can do for seven bucks.”

He has 25 sandwich recipes on the menu and rotates specials throughout the year. His pulled-pork sandwich is his most popular, in no small part because of the sauce, which he labors over starting at 6:30 a.m. every Wednesday:

“For four hours, I cook the pork in apple cider and spices,” he explained. “And then I take the apple cider base, put it in the freezer so the fat congeals on top. Then I top the fat off so there’s zero fat in the sauce. Then I add Maker’s Mark bourbon and reduce it and make that into barbecue sauce, but I balance it out with Tapatio [hot sauce] and organic honey. That’s how I start every Wednesday.”

The shop now has a regular following.

“We know pretty much everybody,” said manager Ghazal Bazrafshan. “That’s Ben,” she said, pointing to a slender man ordering a spicy sausage sandwich.

Others include Brian Burton, whose stage name is Danger Mouse in the pop duo Gnarls Barkley; and Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine, who calls Dave’s “the best sandwich shop on the planet,” according to Evans.

But anyone who hoped to try a Pilgrim on Thanksgiving at Dave’s Chill-n-Grillin had to wait.

It was closed for the holiday.

Grammy-winning singer Rihanna’s Rated R will reportedly debut next week with estimated sales of around 200,000, based on one-day projections. While the numbers are still being calculated, RiRi is likely to debut behind reality television star Susan Boyle who is projected to move 600k First week.

That’s right, folks, the team of Barnett and Boyle, as in Columbia’s fearless leader Steve, will be #1 next week with a total that right now appears more than 600k and, dare we say it, could go even higher. Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna, whose new album Rated R has been getting stellar reviews in the L.A. and N.Y. Times and Rolling Stone, is on line for 180-200k. A couple of Cash Money/Universal Republic acts in Jay Sean and Birdman are the other new releases, both trending in the 30-35k range. (Hits Daily Double).

Although many will disagree, I believe that web personalisation is a good technique used by e-commer

Although many will disagree, I believe that web personalisation is a good technique used by e-commerce businesses. After experiencing the use of this technology in sites such as Amazon, Youtube, and Facebook, I have decided that the pros significantly outweigh the cons.

Personalisation simply means that the website alters its content in a way in which best matches the needs and/or characteristics of the end user. To personalise web pages, e-commerce businesses use techniques such as content-based filtering and collaborative filtering.

Content-based filtering recommends items to a customer based on previous transactions, whereas collaborative filtering uses profiling techniques based on customer groupings for example, customers of a particular group (Age, occupation etc) could be assumed to be interested in products of interest to others that are in the group.

The best example of web personalisation I can think of would be amazon. As an amazon user, I often find myself looking through the list of recommendations they provide me with as soon as I log on. In the past I have purchased items from amazon I otherwise wouldn’t have heard of but for these recommendations. This is an excellent way for businesses to advertise their products and for customers to easily explore the site for items which are likely to interest them.

The screenshot above was taken of my page of recommendations on Amazon.co.uk. It clearly shows how useful and user-friendly this personalisation technique can be.

Another good example of personalisation would be Youtube. Although not an e-commerce site, it shows clearly how a website can make good use of web personalisation. You are able to personalise your profile any way you want, from adding backgrounds, to re-arranging items on the page. Youtube also keep a record of every video you view on the site. From this, they can come up with a large number of different videos you may be interested in watching and display them in a recommendations section on the home page as seen below.

The idea of a website keeping record of your searches and purchases may to some people’s discontent. Many argue that they would prefer to surf anonymously and purchase items without being hassled with a list of recommendations. A small portion of those who are interested in the recommendations would also complain that they don’t get accurate enough results. There are also a few other turn-offs for web personalisation such as security in some cases, but then again, nothings perfect. Personalisation benefits millions of internet users every day by saving time and money, producing better, relevant information and making users feel at home when they visit a website. This is the reason I am pro-personalisation, however it is just my opinion and others may be drawn to different conclusions.
